Great fish finger sandwich and lovely bar staff. Discovered I’d lost my wedding ring a couple of hours after leaving the pub, we went back to check if I’d dropped it there…and the member of staff was amazing and put rubber gloves on and went through the bin in the loos and found it!! What a super star - I’m so grateful! We will definitely return - thank you so much!

Visited today with my partner and her Mum, for a Birthday treat. We all went for a roast, including nut roast, beef and chicken (mine). I can honestly say it’s the best roast I’ve had in ages. Delicious, every bite of it. The vegetables had a lovely garlic taste to them, potatoes were perfect, big yorkie, chicken so tender and gravy to die for. Service was very good too. Very kind people who work there. We will be back and spreading the word of your delicious roasts. Thank you!!!

We visited for my Mum’s Birthday and everything was excellent. The staff were so friendly and inviting and made sure we were looked after the whole time during our visit. The food did not disappoint and was amazing - very filling (although we did have room for desserts). As it is one of our local pubs, we have visited in the past before and again everything was excellent. Thank you very much The George and Dragon!

We should have turned around and came straight out. All the clues were there; 2 customers in the bar, 6 in the restaurant. This was 7 o'clock on a Saturday evening. Nobody to greet us, freezing cold throughout but we stuck it out thinking it can't be that bad. Unfortunately it didn't get any better. The locals have obviously wisened up to it as only another four arrived in the time that we were there (til about 9). To be fair the food was ok, albeit overpriced for the venue. But if you want to make a success of a venue it needs to be welcoming and warm. If there had been even a simple wood-burning fire with a few spiced woodchips thrown in it would have made a world of difference. As it was we had to get our coats from the car for the entire duration of the meal. We couldn't help but note the coffee machine behind the bar with a towel thrown over it that seemed to say "we're closing down". So, freezing cold and unwelcoming. We won't go back again.

I was staying near here In a bed & breakfast and was recommended to here by the owners. The food was quite superb. I went for a bit of a strange dish, duck chilli fries which was one of the best and most tastiest meals I have had in a long time. Really nice pub, plenty of seating indoors and out. Girl behind the bar was chatty and friendly. A really enjoyable visit.

If you want to be charged £16+ for a very average dinner this is your choice here. Immediately perturbed by the fact we are directed to order via the app instead of the perfectly capable human in front of me. You save 5% but that still doesn’t make it appealing. I do wonder how the elderly will get on with such a hurdle. Waited ages for our food. It turned up and looked impressive. We had orders extra potatoes so I couldn’t tell you how many we would have got had we not paid extra. Well the gravy was lukewarm, at this point I was so hungry I couldn’t be bothered to not eat what was presented in front of me. The flavourless cauliflower cheese was freezing cold half way down. Disgusting. The nut roast is like all the leftover veg scrimped together with a disc of goats cheese on top, obviously frozen. Yorkshire cold. Saturated in fat. Rubbery, chewy beef was served despite asking for it rare. Veg horrible, (must be frozen) I have never tasted green beans like it. Didn’t bother to eat. It’s an insult in high summer to serve me frozen green beans. The potatoes, well, being vegetarian I could survive solely on these. Alas NOT frozen ones deep fried. So all in all a very big let down. Such a shame we didn’t try elsewhere. I was told that it couldn’t be refunded as I had eaten half of it. I hadn’t and refused to take that as the managers response. It was half full on a Sunday lunchtime which I interpreted as a good sign. Oh so wrong. Like I say I don’t review everywhere I go, but this lunch was shocking.

My first visit for many years to this restaurant on the main road through Long Hanborough. Very friendly attentive staff. I sat in the older more informal bar part with exposed beams I chose Duck Fries, which was chips mixed in with duck, spring onions, chillies and sauce. Large portion but a bit messy. Would certainly return

We tried to visit on a Friday and was told the kitchen was closed at 9 even though the website says food served until 9.30. The staff were quite blunt and said kitchen was closed. We then returned Saturday and ordered food which took over an hour to come. However when the food came it was nice. We had burger, chicken melt and chicken gyros. It's a shame our experience wasn't very good as the food was nice and the pub looked nice.

Stopped ahead of the Blenheim Winter trail and it was relatively quiet at the pub. The food menu is accessible both in print and also through a qr code that you can then use on your phone. Orders are taken via the website/phone whilst at the table and for those without the ability, you can still order the old fashioned way. Drinks arrived promptly and we had the dirty santa burger which was very filling. Atmosphere was nice and calm, though we did eat around 5.30pm on Saturday ahead of our time slot. Recommended for a nice short dinner out.

I visited this restaurant about 2 years ago and enjoyed fish and chips, so we stopped here again today and ordered the same. Unfortunately it was not as good as my last visit. We both like crispy batter, but this was a bit soggy. We paid extra for peas (I asked for mushy, but got garden peas!). I expected to pay less than the advertised portion price of £15, as the Government have reduced VAT from 20% to 5%, but the full price was charged. The bar service was very good and Covid19 guidelines were clearly marked and adhered too.

Treated my mum and nephew along with my children to a nice lunch, lovely set up considering eveything on. However not only did we question the bill another table had when they tried to charge £6 for a jug of cordial with water and half ice cubes. Of which when questioned was informed she had put more squash in, So it was double the strength. The waitress never asked or gave a choice of wines for my mother so just assumed that a glass of wine at over £10 would be acceptable. I was never asked whether a pint or a half of my drink. And then when we questioned this, the waitress took an alternative attitude towards us. Not sure what has happened as the lovely french lady who was there when we have been before has always been so welcoming.

Wow, in 12 months how the portions have become measly. Pies might be made of puff pastry (probably to make the tiny offerings look bigger). But it’s used to hide the pittance of chips, & Spoonful of peas. No more gravy boat either. Ordered extra green beans, they were cooked to death, and also a tiny portion. Nothing compared to the old nights. Won’t come again. The taste of the food was average.

I've paid a visit a few times with the family as I prefer to support local businesses and avoid fast food chains. The pub is traditional and welcoming, service could be improved by a little more care taken to research meal specs (ordered my vegan option, asked if I wanted prawns with it :/ ???). Service was ok, on two occasions my food was tepid and disappointingly tasteless - other servings were hot. I will give it another go, if only to see if there are a couple more adventurous and flavoursome vegan options on offer before introducing friends along.

My sister and I have visited a few times in the last few months as it has been ‘en route’ but we won’t return. The menu has changed and is limited. We both decided on beer battered fish and chips... first taste of the fish was lovely, light batter and fine flakey fish, but then came the aftertaste of garlic! The fish had obviously been fried in dirty used oil. The frozen chips tasted like they had been reheated, definitely not fresh. We would have made our points known at the time if someone had approached us and asked if everything was okay with our meal but they didn’t (if they had we could have also requested napkins... there were none in our bucket of cutlery). Upon our departure we looked over to say goodbye but were stopped in our tracks when the female server glanced up briefly, then continued her conversation and totally ignored us! Not a chance we will go back.

We booked to come here for dinner as we were staying just down the road. The menu looked lovely so we thought we would give it a try. Hubby and I had mushrooms in a Parmesan and cream sauce to start whilst our 12 year old opted for garlic prawns and chorizo all were lovely and we were very happy with. All was going great until the mains arrived. I opted for the steak and ale pie with chips not mash. It arrived with mash. But this was quickly rectified. Hubby opted for scampi and chips and it was a good size. My son chose the “Atomic Cow burger” the waiter said it was a little spicy but good. Our son doesn’t mind spicy so thought he would give it a go. It arrived and was huge! There was a massive burger with chorizo, lots of chips and a small pot of sauce and here lies the problem. I dipped a chip in the pot of sauce and it BLEW my head off!! Initially thought that as this was for a child the chef put the sauce on the side but oh boy I was so wrong it was all over the burger! The sauce was so hot that it made it inedible! I had to dismantle the burger and scrape off what I could for him whilst my son ran to the toilets crying to wash his lips. I also had to ask for some more chorizo to replace the bits covered in sauce. At no point when we ordered were we warned that this hot sauce was completely unsuitable for a child (and no warning on the menu) and he spent most of his time from then on drinking water and holding back the tears. Maybe we were naive when ordering the “Atomic Cow” but the waiter knew it was for a 12 year old and SHOULD have warned us against it! For 4 days after my sons lips were very sore!! I repeat that a warning should be written on the menu and verbally given at time of ordering.

Potatoes certainly didn’t appear to have been cooked today, the cooking of vegetables varied enormously with the carrots being very hard. Yorkshire puddings were huge offerings of tasteless over cooked batter. The cooking of the Pigs in blankets varied, one was fine, another was clearly undercooked and the replacement ? Jury is out on that because it was hot but not sure if it was cooked through, it wasn’t eaten ! We will not be going back to this overpriced restaurant again. We haven't visited this pub in a few years but my husband booked it for dinner yesterday evening for my birthday. The menu was very uninspiring and the decor (shrek green including all the woodwork & radiators) left a lot to be desired. It had no atmosphere and the bar area had tables with dirty plates on. We ordered a very basic meal fish & chips, & scampi & chips. The fish was priced at 15.75 inc mushy peas. We were expecting a nice plate of fresh golden haddock & triple cooked chips for that price but oh no instead it was frozen chips the sort you find in Iceland & the fish was below average again looked the frozen variety. I sent my scampi back as just full of oil on cutting in to. This pub needs to wake up to what people expect these days especially when they are charging the same as I have paid in some Gastro pubs. We wont be going back & we wont be recommending it to others either. If you are a fan of the deep fat fryer then this is definitely the place for you.

Well; a chunk of coley in soggy, under seasoned batter. Chips obviously bought in (McCains or similar I guess?) were also under cooked and served on greaseproof paper . That was £13. Mushy peas were an add on (£2) in a tiny ramekin which I suspect was also supermarket bought and would have cost a few pence . I fully appreciate that restaurants have profit margins to maintain but this is not acceptable.

There was a group of almost 30 of us for lunch after a walk round Blenheim. We preordered of course, but the service was prompt and efficient. There is a largish area towards the back of the pub where we could all sit together. The "skinny bird" was an imaginative main course, although quite spicy! Again the main problem we had was the level of noise (except when we were all eating) as there was very little in the way of soft furnishings to dampen the noise.

I came here for an early evening meal and a catch up with a friend. The pub was very nice and the staff were able to accommodate us without booking. The menu like lots of pubs nowadays gives you a wide choice but its largely uninspiring or maybe that' me because I eat out regularly. We both opted for the warm Feta salad. The food was OK but nothing more. The after dinner coffee on the other hand was quite weak and mainly tasted of warm milk. The staff were very pleasant but like a lot of other places they always choose to ask hoe the meal is just as you put a fork full of food into my mouth. having said all that I probably will be back again to try something else on the menu.

I ate here with family in early November. I had the sausage kebab with chip shop curry as a starter. Sounds bizarre but it was good and substantial if you are hungry. I then ate their steak pie chips mushy peas and gravy. This was EXCELLENT. My family all had various mains which went down well. I have there fish and chips here on a Friday in th past and that is first class. This is not cheap food but it is a solid safe place to eat.

We visited the George and Dragon on several evenings the food was good and reasonably priced although more expensive may have seemed expensive. The menu is not extensive but adequate and the food is well presented. The service was good the staff were welcoming and friendly. It is a lovely traditional pub and reasonably busy but we were able to get a table without booking. I had a beef and ale pie for £15.00 it was good, fish and chips about £13 we shared a pudding most are £6 we had cheesecake. In the bar area there were children perfectly lovely but noisy. In the restaurant area only adults.

I have visited the George many times with my friend who lives in the village. Last night, we sat in the bar area and the man serving us was very polite. He quickly cleared a table for us and took our order. We both had a starter, buffalo wings and the Halloumi chips. The wings were ok. Definitely not buffalo wings with the traditional buffalo sauce but still tasty. The Halloumi chips were yum with the tomato chutney! We both had a burger, my friend choosing a gluten free bun. The burgers are always delicious and they arrived piping hot. The guy serving us was very attentive and brought us more cutlery and some wipes for our finger too!As a side note, there were two ladies on the table next to us. One of them was incredibly rude to the man serving us, complaining about her pie being "too herby" and saying they had been waiting for ages for someone to come over. (I think when you choose to sit in the bar area, you should know it is more relaxed and not prompt table service even though the service we received was fine!) Anyway, he was very polite and courteous to her even when she declared her meal was "absolutely disgusting" and to take it off the bill. I have eaten the pies at The George and they are delicious! We made sure to say VERY LOUDLY how good our meal was. We will most certainly be back!

This was our second visit in as many months and we were again very impressed.Thankfully I'd booked a table for Sunday lunchtime as many came in afterwards and were turned away. Our table was in the bar area which has a bit of "proper country pub" atmosphere. They've got an excellent range of drinks including some real ales, continental larger and good wine. Our food was excellent overall and everyone we met that worked there had a smile on their face and were all very helpful. The food portions aren't massive, so you might want to order some side dishes if you are a big eater, but having said that it's not cheap either. Most of the mains are in the £12-£15+ bracket and most desserts are at £6-£7. I had a meal off the specials board (Confit duck leg) which was worth the £14 price tag, but my daughters burger - at the same price - was not. Perhaps £10, maybe! You'll have a lovely time if you go here, and we'll go again for sure.Keep doing what you are doing George and Dragon, but watch those prices : ) Any higher, or lesser quality/service, and we might go elsewhere....

We chose the Cheddar and cauliflower soup which sounded delicious but tasted like potato soup, had very little taste and when we mentioned to the waitress that we couldn't taste any cheese she just said 'oh dear' and walked off. I chose from the specials board a Red pepper, potato and cheese tart with skinny fries and rocket leaves. When it arrived the puff pastry tart was very very small and was accompanied by a pile of rocket leaves and halved cherry tomatoes. I managed to get the waitress's attention and asked where the fries were, she said 'it doesn't come with any' and picked up the specials board and put it in front of me. I then pointed out to her that yes it does say with skinny fries! These then arrived when I'd almost finished my tart. For £12 very very overpriced. Not great service and probably won't visit again.

Having been here previously for Sunday lunch, we decided to come for pie night. The place gets very busy, most tables were reserved by 5pm. Luckily we found a table in the bar area. The portions are not overly generous, my side of cauliflower cheese contained 2 small florets and some dried up sauce. The pies however are very nice.

I'm here on my own, (so no judging for anti-social mid meal typing,) and I'm really enjoying it. Half a pint of Guinness, and a fish and chips, set me back about £14. I think that's quite reasonable. Lovely staff, lovely spacious beer garden, decent portion size, which I'm tucking into with great pleasure. Definitely recommend. Also, dogs welcome, just keep them on a lead.

Went to visit my son and he took us here for a meal. Loverly big car park and also big garden out back where we had a drink before the meal. Very good for families especially with young children. (Aunt sally game setup also)Pub staff very pleasant and friendly as were restaurant staff. Also cater for Gluten free food which satisfied the wife.Menu was not huge and it just looked like a typical pub menu. Not cheap but we still ordered our meals. When the food appeared it was not typical pub food and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Really tasty and well cooked. Will certainly go back.

A great Costa Coffee! The staff are hardworking, friendly, and keep the place spotlessly clean. It’s refreshing to see such a positive and hands-on store manager. Even though it’s a busy location, the service is always top-notch. I’m also loving the autumn drinks on the menu right now!

Service was good and the coffee average. Where Costa Chipping Norton exceeds all expectation is in the grubbiness of the furniture. All of the soft furnishing looks like it has been a recent victim of incontinence. I would have sat on a chair but fear I might have caught the plague off it. Burn it all!

Went later than normal lunch so wasn't so packed and sat in the undercover corridoor just outside the giftshop entrance. It was quite cold out in the courtyard and indoors seemed a bit chaotic with lots of staff clearing tables and kids running around. The ordering line blocks the view of the cakes so you need to be in the line to see them, but it moves so slowly and you can't get a good look at everything all at once which made me bounce between decisions a lot. The location of the clean trays didn't make sense and I had to leave my spot in the line to pick one up. Others in the queue didn't mind though so I was able to jump back in, but not before another couple hijacked my empty space to get the till operator to fix their order which had something wrong with it, leaving me standing there a little awkwardly holding an empty tray for a while. With my poor eyesight I couldn't make out the small writing on the menu which was way back behind the till and everything turned out to be quite pricey but that was expected. Ordered a carrot and walnut cake, sausage roll, and a latte. My coffee was excellent, though I had to stand there with a loaded tray waiting for it as it was the slowest moving part of the process with only a single barista and machine. The susage roll was still hot and really tasty, and the cake was fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful.
