The Garlic in Gloucester

Reading the negative reviews, what a load of rubbish, been ordering from here for a few years now, every meal has been piping hot, and delicious, if you want a decent curry then this is definitely the best by far in gloucester.

Being trying to find a good Indian takeaway for ages, this is the place to go. Absolutely amazing, I got buttered chicken and asked for it to be madras spice and it was exactly that, perfect.

Although the reception was very friendly and my order taken promptly, I was very disappointed with the food. The tikka masala sauce was not good, in fact I've never tasted anything like it. I probably will not return

Order two chicken tikka and fries which was not on the menu but the guy said he’d do it for us little do we know the consequences? It would have on us we were in hospital with funding for 2 to 3 days and when we got better we called up and he said there was nothing he could do because he watched the chef cook it when the chicken was clearly raw after what it did to us and he still would not do anything. You didn’t even think about saying sorry he just would not recommend Food poisoning

We had a terrible meal from THE GARLIC HUCCELCOTE, arrived 1 hour late delivery by a grumpy old guy saying that they called him because no one was available. The food was cold and congealed and when we phoned to complain WE WERE SWORE AT AND THE PHONE SLAMMED DOWN TWICE! Gloucester eats no help at all so we threw away £61 of inedible food. Avoid GLOUCESTER EATS and definitely avoid THE GARLIC INDIAN TAKEAWAY.

Me and my brother ordered two chicken tikka main courses last night we are now being treated for food poisoning in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital we even seen him cook the chicken from raw in a microwave I highly do not recommend you try this takeaway

Terrible experience very rude staff ordered two chicken tikka starters and they also made two chicken tikkas and chips which was not on the menu but he said he would make for us anyway little did we know what consequences it would have as we have been up all night sicking could not sleep or eat terrible experience would not recommend also like I said in the beginning very rude staff i wrang the number and they didn't even think to consider it as he said he watched the chef make it himself as I thought was a Lie I will be passing this on to my sister who is a food inspector also he microwaved the chicken witch should have been a huge turnoff but we we really hungry and it was late at night ! Chicken was raw and he cooked in microwave !

Probably our favourite Indian takeaway in Gloucester. Friendly service. Popular and busy which is always a good sign. We order online. Can't fault the food, always tasty, some great dishes. But, it's never ready for pick up when the website says. Always end up waiting another 15 minutes.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, chicken tikka and some plain rice. They threw in some pappadums as well. It was all very good.

First time ordering. The starters and popadoms were delicious. Disappointed with amount of onion salad for price per portion, expected more compared to local competitors. Pleased to see more popadoms than we asked for as well. This is always a great surprise. The chicken pakoras were delicious and tasted fresh. We went with our go-to mains. These were okay. Again tasted fresh and would even go as far to say home cooked rather than a typical take away meal. Thank you for the lovely meal.

The lamb was very tough! But the flavour was lovely.

Food was cold, chips were inedible due to be cold. Chicken korma was spicy which it’s not meant to be. Overall horrible

30 minutes later but restaurant explained it was due to road closure. Food was amazing and hot when arrived - thank you!

Really disappointed with the food from the starters to the mains.we ordered £120 of food the chicken tikka starter was nothing like ever seen in all the years of eating curry it had a small bit of none coloured seasoning on which was tasteless like normal chicken to eat realky.The main masala again was same chicken tasteless and the other dishes the same to be honest would of asked for refund and collect but couldn’t be bothered with the hassle but at least dogs enjoyed it later.Very disappointed

The food tasted lovely again. However, Unfortunately two of the meals were squashed and had seeped out onto the other boxes, and the lid from one of the sauces had come off in transit. Messy bag and contents.

korma it was spicy! I am not allowed spicy due my medical reason. Really should be need remove spicy on korma, you could risk someone life. It waste my money cost me £35 for that! Never again to order. Disappointed 😭

My korma had 4 pieces of chicken... the pilau wasn't pilau the rest was pretty good. Well spiced.

Wow. This Indian takeaway is absolutely phenomenal. The rice is absolutely spot on, all individual pieces with fantastic flavour. The curry's on offer are in a wide variation and are super flavourful and delicious. The naan bread served are full to the brim. The peshwari naan had the filling cramed to the top of the bread, and the cheese naan was bursting holes of warm, melted, and super stringy cheese. The best Indian takeaway in Gloucester, no doubt about it.

Best curry in Gloucester. Used to eat in Polash, but they don’t value their customer. Tried Garlic first time tonight - 5* service, 5*food, will be back!!!!!

Top curry. Delivered really hot and all the family enjoyed it. Kids love the Kashmiri curry.

Ordered a chicken tikka ceylon which is a curry they tried to palm me off with a chicken korma with a bit of spice. Chef was quite helpful until the little one with the beard comes with his sweat dripping off his beard and asks me what the problem is and asked where I usually get my curry from like it makes a difference. Rude staff avoid at all costs plain rice and Nan was the only thing that was actually what I asked for!

Really good service by the restaurant

The food was all a little hotter than expected (korma etc). Also slightly horrified of the delivery charge, didn’t clock that initially. £6 for food delivery, not prorata to location. We won’t be buying from here again because of that unfortunately.

I ordered a Korma which is mild but when it came it was rather spicy and I couldn’t eat it. I called The Garlic, explained my dilemma and the call handler was very nice and understanding. He told me he’d make a new one and get it to me asap. 25 mins later and the new, very mild, Korma and rice was delivered and it was delicious! Thank you to the chef for being very accommodating!

Service and everything was great, but unfortunately, two of us couldn’t eat half of our meals. I’d specifically asked for mild dishes, but they were too hot for us to eat. Having had a similar experience a while ago, I thought that specifically asking for mild dishes would help, but it didn’t. We won’t be ordering again, which is a real shame! The quality of the food is otherwise good and fresh, so it’s really unfortunate that we didn’t get what we ordered.

The lamb was so tough on all the meals we ordered. I could hardly cut through it let alone chew it, so I was left with just sauce.

Plenty of spice and flavour without being too hot. Only negative was Lamb Dupiaza , meat was small, hard/dry and just overcooked.

Bhaji were incredibly oily and overcooked to the point of being dry and chewy. The "mild" Tikka Masala was more like a medium, the special Biryani wasn't that "special". For £44 from this restaurant I expect better.

Food was lovely and hot (temperature) which was nice. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because the rice had tiny seeds throughout which were quite overpowering taste wise. I'm not sure why they were added and I'd advise either to take them out or give customers an option to purely plain rice.

Korma had no flavor- genuinely think the chef missed out ingredients - it was awful!

For the food we ordered, everything was hugely spicier/hotter than you would expect. I had chicken balti which has always been my favourite curry and my eyes were watering after a couple of mouthfuls. I couldn’t finish the dish

Some elements of this order were good, the curry was a stand out for an example. However the rancid pots of onions at 75p a pot was exceptionally disappointing, as we're the cremated onion bhajis

Sadly the starter and main were SO spicy hot, I couldn't eat it, despite asking for mild :-( Pilau rice was fragranced?! Chips were greasy. Side dish, salad, poppadoms and condiments were all fine and the order was delivered early so service wasn't a problem

Onion Baji was over cooked, only 2x meat samosa were in the bag and were tiny.. the lamb curry while very tasty the meat itself was over cooked and tough… perhaps it was just a bad night as previously this place has served some amazing meals..

Most horrible Indian food I have ever tasted. Firstly the delivery guy stole my first order the first time I contacted the restaurant and they were kind enough to send me another one but the food was horrible I need a refund.

Received my order on time and the delivery guy was so friendly. But I ordered a mild curry for my husband he couldn’t eat it it was so spicy. 😰

So sorry, the pilau rice was missing and my husband had a korma(medium ?) instead of a tikka masala. The other food was piping hot and absolutely lovely.

The order originally arrived at the end of the time window but classing it as late as we received the curries but no rice to eat them with! (If we had some rice here we would have just claimed it back, but we didn't) Reported to the restaurant who said they would send it out, should be with us in 20mins.. this took 30/35 mins. When we finally came to eat, the mild curries were so hot we could barely eat them. First and last order with them. Most of it went to waste 😔

The lamb in my korma was as "tough as old boots" and I assumed even though it was a lamb tikka KORMA that it would still be fairly mild but actually was really quite fiery!
