Nepalese Chef in Gloucester

One of the worst experienced I have ever had in this restaurant. Food is just a edible and service is terrible. It’s not a Nepalese restaurant it’s 100% Bangali food and very expensive.

First time eating at Nepalese Chef and certainly won't be the last! Food was delicious, service was friendly and very relaxing atmosphere which made the whole meal a very enjoyable experience.

I want a full refund as was cold and went in the bin

People often have trouble finding our property but they arrived early and called on arrival. The food was all great quality and they had some great Nepalese dishes that were a real standout. Will definitely be ordering again!

The chicken in the Dall Rimjhim was dry and the dish really quite bland. The prawns in the Garlic Jhinga were over cooked and sparse considering the price. Also lacking taste! The Baigan Bhaji was bland and the aubergines needed to be cooked for longer!! This was a very disappointing meal.

Dal Rimjhim Lamb my best order yet from Nepalese Chef who always deliver. Depth of flavour and good spice levels, Khahare Kebab was also spot on. Recommend this place every time, always a good ruby, authentic and probably the best in Gloucester cheers NC 👏👏

We always get our takeaway quickly and fresh. The food has always been good, I think there was one time we thought it wasn't up to the usual excellence, out of easily 20 orders over the years.

Excellent food and service. Freshness can be felt through their food and authentic Indian taste. We tried Vegetarian Manchurian for starters which was top notch. For mains do try Paneer butter masala and Rajma. I will recommend it highly.

Eaten in the restaurant before and the food was really good, however this take away wasn't very nice (the tikka masala sauce tasted like tomato soup) and the papadoms we ordered were missing from the delivery and had to be refunded

Have dined here a few times and would honestly say it’s one of the best places to eat in Gloucester. The food is amazing and the staff are lovely and friendly. The feel is relaxed and we always enjoy our visit. Thank you for the wonderful food

First time ordering here after over a year as the last experience was terrible, but I couldn't ignore the constant good reviews this place is getting any longer so I thought I'd give it another go. Service and delivery was OK, which was the issue last time so I'm happy about that, but the food was very mixed - madras was quite diluted/wet and didn't have much texture and chicken pakoras were small and the batter was sloppy. Keema Rice and Naan were great though. Just not for me unfortunately.

This is 2nd time. I order full butter paneer but when I open box it’s half it’s not worth quality 3out of 5 but quantity 2 out of 5 . Please if customer pay full for order give them full not half.

Waited for nearly two hours only to be told by the rude staff on the phone that my order had been thrown in the bin. He blamed me for not correctly putting in the correct address and that the driver had been waiting over half an hour outside, which was false as later he said that they couldn’t even find the hotel which is hard to believe as the hotel staff said I had put in the correct address for the delivery. Our go to Indian in Gloucester. Excellent food, excellent service, spotlessly clean. We visit at least twice a month and it’s always brilliant. The man breads are the best I’ve eaten.

Not up to the usual 5 star standard of food, from my usual go to restaurant for curry. Both meals we ate were very bland. The chicken tikka masala sauce tasted like tomato soup and the birat murgi was bland.

We ordered chicken tikka masala’s but they tasted nothing like chicken tikka masala. They were sour & didn’t have the usual tikka masala spices. The chicken was inedible - chewy & hard. I will be contacting the restaurant today.

Don’t park in the car park even if you are eating. The restaurant uses Civil Enforcement to manage parking. (This is a terrible company - Trustpilot rating 99% negative.) Service was poor - I was delayed by work and arrived 6 minutes later than our booked time. The restaurant had called us and asked us to come earlier than our booking, direct from a rugby match. I prefer to eat when I want to eat not when the restaurant wants me to eat. The waiters hassled the members of our party who had arrived early to order and wanted to take the poppadoms away before I arrived, despite the restaurant being half empty at 5.50 pm. I did not see any parking signs in the dark and was rushed looking at the menu Food was fair. When we wanted to leave we could not get anyone to take our money for about 20 minutes. Manager was rude and very unhelpful about the £100 parking fine. (no doubt he will try to defend his use of a cowboy parking enforcement agency)

Top food has became a regular for us

Well being a vegetarian there were a lot of options to try ! The chef called and asked whether we are looking for Indian taste and that was perfect. The quality and taste of the food was awesome. Really liked their garlic and cheese naan . The daal makhani was perfect , blend of spices everything . Would definitely order again . If you are looking for something that can comfort your body and soul this is the perfect place .

Tasty food, second time ordering and twice now the main veggie dish was missing off order. Called them and they sent it out straight away. Sadly it was a chicken main dish not the veggie required, very unhappy wife. Better service when dining in.

Lovely atmosphere and excellent service enabled us to enjoy an authentic Nepalese meal. The side dishes were perfect for affording a variety of flavours for a vegetarian although main veggie meals were also available. The non- veggie showed no restraint with my side dishes whilst savouring the Royal Tawa. A perfectly cooked garlic and chilli naan complemented the variety of textures and flavours of our chosen dishes perfectly. Nothing more to say except we'll be back!

Two of us dined here on a busy Friday night. The service and the food was excellent despite them having a few big tables. We'll definitely go back again.

Had a couple of meals recently via takeaway, the Mo mo is soooo good, but the 2 separate lamb dishes I have said medium but were so hot I couldn't enjoy the rest as my mouth was on fire, if you are not a spice person, don't go for any of the lamb dishes

What rubbish swill ! Last time was average at best . This time dreadful. My local curry house has gone downhill massively. Nepalese Chef You’ve lost a customer tonight. I won’t be coming back ever . Korma wasn’t creamy, buhuna was bland,pappadoms were very soft. Rice was nice and Nan breads were nice but was not as good as we remembered Nepalese chef being as not had for a well so very disappointing

Very disappointed with our visit this time , been here on several occasions and have always taken friends with us as we have always been happy with the food. Sadly Saturday night we took out daughter for the first time and the food was under whelming, very bland , her dished lacked any sort of seasoning. We had all checked the menu online beforehand , when we got there we were handed a menu that was minus half of the dishes on the online version ? Can only assume they have condensed their restaurant menu , but if this is the case they need to amend online one and update prices as they too are misleading . Staff are polite but as pointed out in another review there is no interaction. Atmosphere almost sterile . There are better Indian / Asian restaurants in the area so sorry Nepalese Chef we will not be returning anytime soon .

Extorting money from your customers is how you lose them

Large group of us went for a meal after Glos v Harlequins at Kingsholm. It is close to the ground and has some parking for patrons. I had booked and they split 19 of us over two large circular tables next to each other. Considering the size of the group they handled the ordering and serving of the food really well. There are lots of choices and apart from the usual indian curries some excellent regional dishes and chefs specials. For popadoms, main meal with lots of side dishes and booze, it worked out at about £20 a head which I think is good value.

Dosa was one third of the normal size and rock hard so must have been microvawed; vegetable balti was okay; tadka dal was delicious. All in all, I wouldn't recommend, definitely not if you are after masala dosa.

First visit , recommend by friends. We got it wrong and went to the neighbouring India zones next door in error . In honesty the Nepalese chef was very good food . The staff friendly but nothing personal, like macdonalds staff . Polite but nothing personal . .Having said that the food was delicious . The staff very polite but no warmth like the personal Attention next door at the India zones . We will return for definite but , the India zones next door has also excellent food but customer service much more personal . On an honest level good excellent . Ambience lacking . Lots of Asians dining there so that’s usually the best appraisal. Just lacks ambience for me . It is my only negative . Food 8/10

We have made several visits over the last 6 months and cannot fault this wonderful restaurant. The menu is amazing with many new various dishes to try. The staff are very friendly welcoming as well as giving attentive service. Food is served hot and professionally every time. You feel like you are in a top end London restaurant but paying local standard prices. The food is excellent fresh and very tasty, meat is always good quality. Cannot recommend enough AAA Star.

Food quality wasn't what I expected

This is a truly lovely restaurant. Found it on Google maps, by chance. Very welcoming greeting, attentive and friendly staff, without being too intrusive and absolutely divine food. My partner is a vegetarian and pretty much every dish had an option for her. Very reasonably priced, good ambience and a convenient location just off the town centre mean this is a must visit-10/10 in every way.

Food was amazing as always. Both quality and quantity. Staff are friendly and always greet with a smile. This is hands down the best Nepalese/Indian food I have ever had.

Went for the 10th anniversary celebration meal menu which was great value. We really enjoyed the wide variety of food and there were lots of different courses. It was great to try some new foods and flavours which I normally wouldn't have chosen. Such a friendly restaurant. We use it regularly for takeaways too. Highly recommend. I hope they do more of these type of evenings in the future. It was really busy but courses arrived promptly.

Absolutely delicious food, The taste was incredible with combinations of flavours that were just sublime. The food was hot and delivered an incredible one hour early!!! I would highly recommend this restaurant. The Just Eat delivery gentleman was also well presented, courteous and friendly, altogether a great experience.

Tables to close together felt shoe horned in, Not enough drink choice, My partner had sweet and sour chicken which was way too spicy and it shouldn't be, And my tikka masala which should be mild was really spicy, They seemed to take ages to bring your meal and then rush you out when wanted table, Definitely not going back.. We went back as friends had booked. My partner rang and asked if he could have just plain chicken and chips which they done and he said was really nice so a big thank you to them for doing

Never eaten from here before, seen some really good reviews and thought I would give it a try. Ordered curry, was expecting more flavour then we got, was a nice thick creamy sauce but just did not touch the taste buds. Naan bread was very nice and fresh and full of flavour and so was the rice we had.

Very courteous customer service - got a call immediately after ordering to advise me that one of the items was not available, they offered a suitable alternative which I gladly accepted. Food arrived earlier than estimated and driver was very polite and friendly. Love the menu - great sounding house and chef specials, looking forward to trying out more.
