Tiger's Eye in Gloucester

Bit pricey, but still an amazing experience.

Great bar right in centre of Gloucester with impressive historic fireplace. Had been deterred before as thought was only restaurant, but that is separate. Food eg we had delicious chips, can be ordered in bar.

Situated above Costa coffee in Southgate street...you may walk past unaware. I visited daytime but check opening as it's not open every day. After walking upstairs you can will find the bar to the the left. It's a very old pub and is a grade one Jacobean listed building. The fireplace is a beautiful piece of work. But the bar is extremely tired looking and has an old building musty smell. Also there aren't that many seats. A window table is the best which there are three of. However the food choice is so much more exciting than anywhere else and nicely presented. Pan Asian fusion. Sushi, Japanese tapas, ramen and hot grill with some exotic meats to choose from. Also the bar has a huge choice of spirits and proper cocktails. Mixed In front of you and not some premix. There is a lovely restaurant and I would imagine it popular in the evenings...tho it is open during the day most people sit in the bar. Going up another floor there is a sports bar again probably more used at weekends. Certainly recommend the food and cocktails.

Fantastic choice of excellent food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Good service. We will definitely return. Highly recommended eating and drinking establishment. Thank you guys for a lovely time.

A must visit if you're visiting out of town, but I recommended pre booking. Beautiful building, full of history with an intact fireplace I believe from the 16th century. Fantastic food, the best cocktails gloucester has to offer and friendly service.

Nice service despite staff shortages, they work hard and give advice. The food is very good, the decor is so-so (this is my opinion), others may like it.

It was a very nice experience. The Hot Rock is a must at this place. They have a great variety of Meat to choose from. I tried 5 of them and all were excellent. The service was very good. It is one of the places you enjoy everything you order. From the Food to the drinks.

Best bar in Gloucester . Lovely atmosphere and the staff are great . We love it here especially the 2 for 1 cocktails . The food is beautiful , steaks on the rocks , burgers , tapas , all with an Asian Twist .

Excellent tapas and one of their hot stones of vegetables. Well priced with friendly service. Well worth the climb of the stairs from the precinct.

Our first time visiting Tigers Eye but won’t be our last! Flynn, our waiter, was so welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu it was brilliant. He was able to advise on dishes and meats and also cooking times. The drinks were superb and the prices very very reasonable. I recommended this place to anyone. Absolutely brilliant evening all round and will definitely be back!

We decided to have our food in the upstairs bar. Not a great menu if you're a vegetarian (which we both are...) but I decided on a vegan burger and my partner vegetarian spring rolls. We both had chips on the side. The chips were excellent, the patty unexciting, but acceptable, but the spring rolls - four of them - were smaller than the chips. Really! I gave my partner some of my patty and she let me try a spring roll. I didn't notice that she had put one on top of my chips to try...I thought it was a slightly off chip, until I had a better look. Disappointing, to say the very least, and expensive too! We like the Tiger for a quiet drink, but not a place to eat if you are vegan or vegetarian.

i have been here several times before and have loved it, we always get the fillet steak and has been so nice and tender previously. tonight the meat was 1000% not fillet steak, we had a mouthful each and couldn’t eat the rest of the steak bearing in mind we’d spent 30£ each on our meals not wanting to waste them but we just couldn’t eat it. it was definitely not beef and was one of the other meats on the menu, the best the manager could give us was 30% off which in my opinion isn’t good at all as we couldn’t even finish our meals.

The staff was the best they had to offer us. Food - we had the tapas - was bland, overkooked, and some of it plain dry. Ribs and chicken bites were the worst. We finished it to fill up, it was all edible and not disgusting, but no, we won't be coming back.

Great food and great staff. Can highly recommend the exotic meats on the hot rock. You cook the meat yourself on the hot rock so you can only blame yourself if its not cooked to perfection. One of the best restaurants in Gloucester.

Lovely Jacobean building in the centre of town. Music pre - covid. Nice bar and menu looks great. Have now eaten at the restaurant and would definitely recommend a visit. Lovely food and friendly, efficient staff.

Excellent restaurant can't fault a thing. Food was phenomenal, and the service top notch. I'm so impressed with the food and pricing I can't wait to come back to Gloucester to eat here again. Fabulous menu and the hot rock cooking is a must.

Awesome musicians named Luke Phillbrick and the Solid Gone Skiffle Invasion, a great bartender. A very friendly place to have a couple of drinks and enjoy authentic voices by people who obviously are enthusiastic about their music. And be sure to enjoy a Tokyo Iced Tea by Ben if you're up for it!

Having wandered down the tired Main Street, past numerous Poundland type stores and gatherings of white lightening swigging people the unassuming, slightly hidden doorway to the upstairs bar in this cocktail lovers dream was a welcome site. A great range of delicious drinks, we came for one and stayed for three. Oldie worldie wood panelling, attentive bar staff adds to the speakeasy type atmosphere. Will certainly be back for more.

I've come here for a 50th birthday party and the bartender paige is probably the most quickest most efficient bartender in Gloucester, after the first time I ordered a drink from her I didn't have to repeat what I wanted she remembered; an asset for the hospitality industry, massive shout out, if you want a good night out, the old bell tigers eye is the place to go even more so if she's behind the bar, really worth the visit

Paige is super quick and efficient. She gave amazing customer service on my visit here. I can’t thank her enough. She also knew our order everytime I came to the bar without even asking .

The food was great and the staff were really friendly - the service was bordering on chaotic at times but our party all enjoyed the experience.

Well worth a visit for an unusual dining experience.

We ate here on a Thursday lunchtime as a surprise for my Birthday. It wasn't busy but everything showed they care about their customers. There was a good selection of drinks to choose from, and the food was really top notch. Between us we had some meat we cooked on a hot rock, a crocodile burger & various tapas. Everything was fresh & tasty. Relaxed but attentive waitress and an excellent soundtrack (volume & music choice) added to the experience. It is really nice to find a place that has found its niche and is doing it so well. We'll definitely be back for food and maybe some of the tempting cocktails...

Excellent food at a very reasonable price. Lovely attentive service without hovering over you. Also got draught beer! Most definitely on the list for another visit.

Es un sitio increible, se puede traer a tus hijos(cosa muy rara en los bares de Inglaterra), comida increible y muy buena y sabrosa. Un trato por parte del personal muy amigable y bueno. Muy muy buen servicio. Si vienen aqui les recomiendo que vengan si o si tienen muy buena comida y, para aquellos amantes de cócteles, tienen cócteles muy buenos que son un peligro de lo buenos que estan. 10/10

We had a lovely time here. The staff were absolutely lovely. The experience is unique with the hot coal and exotic meats! Would definitely recommend and eat here again.

Very nice food and very all orgainsed and descriptive on the menu.

I haven’t tried the food here yet but I know a few people that have, and they say it’s good. The drinks are good which indicates the beer lines, taps, etc are well maintained. The staff are friendly, well trained and understand every customer’s needs. The whole place is clean, well maintained and well stocked with drinks. I never hear anyone complain about this restaurant\bar.

Dined here for my dad’s 69th birthday we all throughly enjoyed ourselves trying the various exotic meats. Staff were various friendly and attentive.

Absolutely lovely meal which I cooked myself on a hot stone at the table!

The restaurant portion of the room could use a little work to make it feel more atmospheric, or at least a little more detached from the pub aspect next door. But, in all fairness, the food, service, and prices just cannot be beaten, and that's more than enough to forgo any discrepancies about the design choices. Would 100% recommend anyone to go. The experience value alone is a great selling point here (specifically the hot stone cooking style).

Meat is fabulous and the sides , great evening meal bit on the expensive with drink 2 double gin and lemonade £15 2 pints £10 so £25 before you even start eat , zebra and llama was very nice and on the hot stone cook it to as you want to my wife had steak which looked and tasted very nice , sides or tapas were £.350 each , recommend definitely but not a cheap night out enjoy , definitely go again

Hidden gem! Wonderful Asian-fusion dishes! Would highly recommend everyone to order the steak and give a light grill to the other dishes you have on the table as well!

A group of us came here last night and it's got difficult rooms and is above Costa. The bar area got busy and they serve lots of cocktails. I enjoyed the IPA on tap. Great atmosphere and vibe. Will be back soon with the wife. Cheers

The toilets were dirty food was below standard. And salad had an orange tinge to it. Will never go back

A friend and I went here before going out for a show. We arrived a bit early but we’re accommodated. Cocktails were phenomenal, food choices were varied enough but not overwhelming. We went for the hot rocks and we’re not disappointed. The meat came in large chunks and we cooked them to our choosing. Venison and Kangaroo were *chefs kiss* we will definitely be returning.

Most diverse menu I have ever seen *edit* Unfortunately after lockdown the menu halved in size and they no longer do burgers, sushi or ramen. Considering no where else in Gloucester does dine in sushi not the best move. £6 for 3 small strips of chicken in katsu sauce is a bit steep but very nice regardless. The quality has not changed but we were heartbroken that we could not get sushi and bao buns. We will return there if the menu gets changed back.

Nowere was stated about it being in the middle of a pub ! Well i did not see before getting there ? There was literally no1 in there with no waiters in the room in the middle of a pub which was advertised as a restaurant the whole thing put me off an as a kind gesture i paid for two drinks which we hardly drunk an ad to ask for my deposit back which was not mentiond by the staff but did pay me back in the end just felt like i got false advertised a little bit ! Hahah

We selected 6 items from the “tapas” menu. Very disappointing. The food was obviously frozen and just presented in small bowls. I understand that frozen food is used by lots of restaurants; but the quality of the food was shockingly poor! Go to Iceland and cook it yourself!!

This is my 5th visit to the restaurant, absolutely my favourite place in Gloucester, yes you don’t get a mountain of chips and peas! Who wants that anyway? Go to a hungry horse if that’s what you are after 😂 I love the fact you choose all your meats in various weights and add which vegetables you would like to accompany your main Definitely no smells, no foul language, staff amazing and I will be returning to this hidden gem, can’t praise this place enough

Good for trying different foods. Even had cola pork belly cubes which tasted like Indonesian food I ate when I visited the country. Nice and very polite service, and not too expensive. Just took a little to get the order done.

Excellent restaurant, various dishes, steaks all good , service very professionell, even the corona preventing meassures well organized. I felt safe and confident. The price level is extra ordinary well, for foreigner like me. Ive been here three times now, to be honest I m goanna come again.

10/10 on following Covid19 regulations. On Saturday evening when I visited they were already implementing all the new changes in the Bar & Restaurant, some of which weren’t due until Monday but they were ahead of the game. Excellent table service in the safely distanced bar and friendly reminders to customers to mask up when on the move. Yet, they still created an atmosphere and appeared to be full to their new capacity. Well done

Mi pareja y yo cenamos aquí en el programa Eat Out to Help Out (también lo hicimos dos veces antes) y disfrutamos mucho de nuestra comida. Este lugar es uno de los lugares que estábamos desesperados por abrir después del cierre de COVID, ya que es nuestro restaurante japonés favorito que es local para nosotros.Mi compañero pidió el ramen de carne y chile con bollos bao, y yo pedí el ramen de tofu de hongos y miel con bollos bao de yaca. Los champiñones en el ramen eran increíbles, ¡y ni siquiera me gustan tanto los champiñones! La espera de la comida siempre es bastante larga, pero no nos importa ya que sabemos que toda la comida está recién hecha a pedido y tiene un sabor delicioso.En el menú, puede pedir una variedad de carnes exóticas que incluyen canguro, cebra, wagyu y llama, que puede cocinar en un plato caliente usted mismo (mi compañero lo ha hecho anteriormente), lo cual es un gran entretenimiento y una idea realmente divertida.Recomiendo este lugar a todos los que quieran comida japonesa que son locales, mucho mejor que algunas cadenas grandes (también conocidas como wagamamas).

Realmente disfrutamos de este restaurante. El camarero fue excelente, atento y profesional. Todo fue bien explicado. La parte superior del menú es para carnes y verduras que puedes cocinar en la mesa sobre piedras calientes. Hicimos esto como nunca antes lo habíamos hecho y fue una experiencia genial, única y divertida. Las batatas fritas eran exuberantes. Buena selección de bebidas.
