A great restaurant. I needed somewhere for 15 people for coffee and cake. They set up a line of tables in advance and were so welcoming. The service was prompt and efficient. Cakes/ scones were fresh and delicious and the bacon sandwich perfect. We will go again.

The café is welcoming with a lovely environment and great staff. The chairs are very uncomfortable and should either be replaced or have big cushions so you can eat sitting upright rather than reclining backwards. The food is somewhat disappointing for the price. £10.49 for a microwaved, tasteless, soft baked potato with a pot of little prawns in a lot of sauce and a few salad leaves is not good value for money.

This is a lovely cafe . Always like coming here. Service is great and the food is always delicious. We had a Summer Vibes salad with falafel and Quiche of the day with salad and fries. Both meals were generous in their portion size and very tasty.

I ordered Jacket potato with cheese, not overly impressed as potato was not cooked that day and there was minimal cheese. No butter and very few salad leaves, not the best considering the price.

Amazing food, we had a pre Christmas lunch here at £19.99 per head. Good service from the waiting staff, and the food as always delicious. No mints this year at the end, but I guess that's inflation? At the end when we all paid, most of us commented there was few thank yous from the person taking our money, yet they received over £350 in total. Disappointed with this lack of manners. Have written email to cafe, no reply after 2 days

Very sad. Used to go to the cafe regularly and loved it but went yesterday and found the service poor and the food on the pricey side. Our first course was delivered but after waiting some time I had to go to the counter to ask for the mayonaise we'd requested and the lad said sorry he forgot. We then ordered cake and coffee (£16 for two smallish pieces of cake and two lattes) We waited for 20 minutes then went back to the counter to ask where it was, the staff were folding napkins not serving, the girl seemed puzzled and had no docket until she found it tucked by the cakes (apparently put there to reserve the cake slices) She asked should she do the coffee now ??!! Fed up by this time so asked to see the manager as the girl could only say she was only 16. Another lady came to see us but only wanted to argue the times on the receipt and claim there had been seven orders just before ours (don't think there were that many tables occupied in total at the time) She reluctantly offered us two coffees on the house but as we'd finally just got the ones we'd paid for having waited in total for nearly half an hour we declined. Her attitude was that we were being unreasonable. Had the cafe been busy we would have understood but it was pretty quiet. Can't see us returning.

We popped into this garden centre purely to have coffee and were tempted by their tea cakes - these were large and well cooked. Just been here for breakfast. After waiting 20 minutes we saw our breakfasts served to another couple who arrived after us. We then got asked “oh did you order the breakfasts as well?”. After another 15 minutes the food came and was all wrong, but we didn’t bother to complain because we were just hungry and wanted to eat. There didn’t seem to be any condiments available. My breakfast came with one nice sausage and one completely different unpleasant sausage, my partner was unlucky enough to get two of the unpleasant sausages. Bacon was poorly cooked and not crispy at all. The rest of the food was okay but my partner effectively paid £10.99 for a couple of hash browns and an egg because she found both meats inedible. There are nicer cafes in the area, avoid this one if possible!

Popped in for early coffee in passing - wish we hadn't had breakfast beforehand as we would definitely have had breakfast here. Coffee was spot on and a good temperature, you didn't have to drink it quickly, it could be savoured. We just had toast, with generous butter, perfect. We sat outside in the warm Spring sunshine with our dog. The two ladies who served us were welcoming, professional and friendly, they even brought treats for our dog. A light, welcoming cafe which was spotless and welcoming. If only we lived closer, but next time we will definitely stop for breakfast! Can I add, as we passed through the Garden Centre each member of staff smiled and said 'Good morning'. Excellent customer service, thank you one and all.

Firstly, we are very impressed that they are safety conscious in these days of Covid 19 and that all the waitresses and the manager wear a visor thus showing a respect for their customers. We usually have the soup which is always very tasty, nice and hot and with the option of a focaccia roll which we love. The food we have always found to be really tasty and well cooked and the cakes are really nice too. It is very well run by the manager and the supervisor and all the staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. We were the first people to take advantage of the Christmas Lunch offered by the Garden Centre. We had choices for every course and these were good. Our table was laid nicely with Christmas crackers. I had ordered Pate which came with a nice salad and toast. There was a large portion and butter was also included. My Son had prawn and crayfish which was served in a nice dish with salad and crusty bread. Again a very good portion. I had chicken farce which was en croute and stuffed with tomatoes. This was lovely and came with a separate dish of vegetables for each of us and both boiled and roasted potatoes. All the vegetables were very good, even having soft sprouts. There were carrots, peas, cauliflower as well and I had a jug of gravy separately. All together this was a superb meal. It was well presented and the waitresses were polite, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. The cost was £17.99 for 2 courses and £22.99 for 3 courses. Congratulations to the chef for such a nice meal.

Just had the worst Sunday roast ever at this place. Firstly the plate was too small. Secondly there was a distinctive lack of gravy. Thirdly not everyone likes courgettes or parsnips. And the plate was smothered with both. The parsnips were obviously frozen ones. The courgettes were mushy and finally the roast potatoes were warm. Not a pleasant meal. Oh yes and where was the Yorkshire pudding. Obviously it wouldn't fit on the plate anyway. Certainly wont be going here in the near future.

My husband and i visited a couple of weeks back and we were both utterly disappointed. Firstly, i was unimpressed with the lack of professionalism of the staff they were inattentive and rude. There was one older woman who would come out of the kitchen and i think the topic of conversation she was having amongst the other staff was strictly unprofessional. We could overhear how they were speaking about other members of staff. We used to enjoy coming to this cafe when it was run by the previous owner and we could tell how much the management and quality of food has really gone down hill. My husband had bacon that was just about cooked and he could barely finish his meal (that says a lot ha,ha). The food is just not up to a good standard. i will not be returning and i will not be recommending this establishment to anyone.

Live locally and have used both garden centre and cafe for years. It was a great place to meet friends and have enjoyed many a good lunch and coffee and cake, particularly the gorgeous home made date slice. However, my friend and I had lunch shortly after the recent take-over, which at the time we were unaware of and were very disappointed. My soup was tasteless and as thin as dishwasher with a strange sweet tasting roll and the coffee was not up to its usual good quality. Thought we'd give it another try yesterday for coffee and cake - what cake! The cabinet which was once full of delicious goodies is no longer there and apparently the usual fare is no longer made on site. You no longer have a choice of size of coffee and I assume they are no longer using the same quality, or perhaps less of it as it bore no resemblance to the great coffee we used to enjoy so much. Such lovely local staff who have been there for years but think my friends and I will be looking for another meeting place in future, such a shame!! We did ask at reception for their comments book but the young lady seemed unsure of its existence and gave my friend a piece of paper on which to write her comment, would be interested to know if it ever finds its was into the book.

We went for lunch today, my husband had fish chips and mushy peas, and I had the leek and mushroom bake. My husbands did not recognise the fish he was eating and said it could quite easily be bits pushed together. The batter was over crisp, with empty bits without ant fish. His mushy peas were dry. Last time I had leek and mushroom bake, it was very tasty, and came in it's own dish and the other half of the plate was covered in salad. Today, the mushroom and leek bake came in its own dish, but the salad. Where they sure they could spare it? had 2 pieces of lettuce an inch and a quarter square, a teaspoonful of chopped lettuce, a slice of cucumber, but they could not give me a complete slice of tasteless tomato, I had 3/4 of a slice!! There was also a very unpleasant oil at the bottom of my bake. The meal also cost much more than if used to.

As a regular diner at the Garden Room, (shame they changed the name as it is well known and much loved as the Garden Room) I cannot fault the amazing ladies employed there, they are lovely, friendly & always remember us. However, it is a great shame the same cannot be said for the menu, which prior to the new owner was excellent, they had no chips available and had not had any for two days. There was very little choice & what was listed on the specials was mostly unavailable and we went in not long after midday. We were told the liver & bacon was being removed from the menu, as were the lovely casseroles and some of our other favourites which includes some of the lovely desserts. These are very popular with the customers and we feel it is a big mistake to remove these. It is understandable the new owners may wish to try something new in addition to the current menus but not in place of, I am sure this will lose custom. As one reviewer said carvery is everywhere, it is wonderful to have the current menu at Chacewater Garden Room, sorry I cannot bring myself to call it the new name. Please don’t alienate your present customers! The meals we had were lovely though.

I've worked in kitchens myself and I know it's difficult at times but , if your going to be miserable and just nasty pieces of work go get a job somewhere else we're it clearly doesn't turn you into a bunch of miserable , horrible people ! 4 breakfast to cook ( 2 were just rolls ) and it was like asking for one of there limbs! .The coffees made by the lady at the front were spot on she'd gone the extra mile to make it nice .The breakfast on the other hand .....deep fried mushrooms, deep fried sausage and the hash brown looked like it had been to hell and back it was that well done .Another thing when one of the kitchen staff came to the front she had the expression on her face that someone had just killed her cat , she was miserable as sin you could atleast fake a smile !

I had the best roast beef I've tasted in many years today at this restaurant in Chacewater Garden Centre. The beef was so tasty and extremely tender, highly recommended, my compliments to the chef! A lot of tables were reserved so I would recommend pre-booking...

It has been a while since or last visit so as part of our day visiting garden centers in search of some Oriental garden ornaments,we dropped in. Splendid lay out, free parking and friendly stall as well as a decent range of plants and ornaments.....the Restaurant is welcoming and a snack and hot drink will keep you going.

ordered a cheese ploughmans with CRUSTY bread and a tuna mayo BAGUETTE. After a LONG delay when they arrived the ploughmans had a rather dry burger bun and the baguette was a soft sub roll for which I paid and extra pound. If they had run out of said crusty bread why weren't we asked if we wanted an alternative?

When we ask if anyone wants to go to the garden centre our daughter always asks "Are we getting something to eat there?" so this has now become one of our family days out. The food has always been very good with plenty of choice but if you just want tea and cakes then you wont be disappointed as the cakes look amazing but I must admit I haven't been tempted yet as we always seem to be having a full lunch!

Came here for tea and cake a couple times. Served by a young member of staff who was very polite. Cake was nice and also sat outside in the courtyard area which had a nice feel about it - not as keen on the inside as it felt a little dark/dingy that day.

Stopped in to buy fish from the aqua shop and stayed for lunch which my husband and i regretted. I had a panini. It was nothing like the photo on here to compare. All the filling had fallen out and had been squashed to oblivion. Other places i have had a panini they are toasted with depth still and the filling inside the bread. Not close to burnt bread flat with a side order of what should be inside. The cakes looked as though they had seen better days so i avoided those. Far too many to possibly be fresh. The main thing that put us off to make us not return again was the cigarette odour. Either the chefs were smoking in the kitchen or close to as the smell was over bearing and sickening to say the least. The couple next to us also make a similar comment. Not pleasant i'm afraid. Chefs should not we smoking in their chef whites or cooking attire never mind in the kitchen.

Came here for cake with my daughter. The grey lady serving at the counter was miserable, could not even look at you or crack a smile. We stood at the counter waiting for our order to be taken for about five minutes before she even acknowledged us... we were the only people in the queue. We were then given a tray with luke warm tea and dry gateaux. £4.50 for a slice of cake that did not even taste nice. Rip off and miserable service. There were a lot of tables that had also not been cleared. Never again.

This restaurant within the Garden Centre is quite spacious and for those with mobility problems it is easy to access with plenty of room between tables. We sat outside as the sun was shining. Menus were available and then you order and pay at the counter. you collect your drinks then and help yourself to the cutlery. Quite simple and I cannot understand some of the previous comments. The meals were served by a staff member and a good time was had by us all. We saw the lovely collection of sweets but due to expanding waist lines these were declined.

Lacklustre service. Lacklustre everything. No menus. No table service, even for big groups. No table settings. Salad was past its best. Stew was microwaved and tasteless.Have been here three times, return visits were out of necessity not loyalty - other better places were closed or full.Food is at best bland & low effort. Seems like no one here cares about the business or about the food.

Ive visited the cafe several times and the food is always great and, in the majority, cooked from scratch. The breakfasts are absolutely fabulous. The staff are great and very accommodating. I would recommend this cafe to anyone

Went here today for lunch.... Never again! I ordered ham salad.. What arrived was ham and a plate of lettuce and one slice of cucumber! Nothing else this cost £7.50, i asked the ladies serving if they had run out of food and was told oh you have just missed the rush, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone even if I was starving

I have given three stars as this is one of the few accessible restaurants for wheelchair users.Sadly the changes that have taken place are not so starry. No waitress service means that one queues for drinks, carries them to table, hunts for cutlery, carry to table, queue for a glass of water ,carry...etcThe worst part is, be warned, if paying by card and your purchase is less than £5.00, you are charged a 50 p surcharge. We fell into this having paid for a main meal, and then later deciding we would like coffee. Apparently having an open tab isn't possible, which does seem unhelpful.Bearing in mind that many of the visitors are of the older variety, wouldn't it be better to stop all the queuing and carrying, and go back to waitress service?

We booked afternoon tea for family celebrations. Afternoon tea was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our waitress Pinka was friendly and looked after us. The special offer was a bonus too. Highly recommended!

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
