This was the worst food I've ever been presented with . Jacket potato tiny hard skin lump of tuna no mayonnaise or butter so so dry couldn't eat it , bit of floppy salad - just horrendous . My daughter ordered cheese chips which was a solid mass which you could pick up in a lump . She felt sick later after eating a few of the chips. We complained - no refund just offered a piece of cake free , we each paid 10 pounds . Waitress said the manager told staff to put little tuna in potato and not nych mayonnaise no butter . He needs to be sacked . Disgusted .

Absolutely outrageous ontop of being pretty pricey for a breakfast, they charge £2.25 for a can of coke which is pretty disgusting itself the meal was cold the beans you could hold upside down and they'd stay in the pot, the whole meal was cold and bacon resembled cardboard.the only relatively "nice" part of visiting was the staff wrre friendly and understanding... visited once before perhaps November last year and it wss excellent not sure what happened

Their prices seem to have sky rocketed yet the quality and service have both gone downhill. Huge wait times, staff quite unhelpful, very slow and a lot of the time don’t seem to know why they’re doing. Food is very average. Some nice cakes but the quality doesn’t match the prices they charge. It’s a real shame as could be a great place to visit. Unfortunately I won’t be returning.

All 3 meals ordered were expensive and very poor quality. Bread was cheap. Coleslaw was budget. Watercress very limited. Fries almost room temperature. We have never eaten at such a poor quality restuarant and pay such an exorbitant amount of money for what basically was an awful school dinner. Took 30minutes for the kitchen to warm my fries up. Even the cafe drinks were luke warm luckily my tea was hot. Clean restuarant is the only positive point. Do not eat here unless held at gun point.

This restaurant has gone downhill . Constantly changing their staff. The staff are not trained properly , including the till. My friend and I go there frequently for a coffee. ( Before my husband broke his leg we would often take lunch ) . On the last couple of occasions we have had lattes and the coffee is like milk with hardly any coffee at all. We have pointed this out to the staff who have apologised and given us a fresh cup of coffee.

Visited yesterday as we were in the area. Needed a quick bite to eat as husband diabetic. Arrived 3.50pm. Seated at 4pm on terrace of cafe - asked in cafe for scones jam & cream with pit of tea for 2. Was told all sold out and no cakes either. Conversation took 10mins I think. Was then informed they stop serving food at 4pm. In desperation I requested the staff member ask in the kitchen for anything like toast or a tea cake. Finally the last one was found in a tupperware container under the counter. I requested it be toasted so a toaster was placed on the counter and the staff member handled the tea cake without gloves on or using tongs to place the split tea cake into the toaster! Further more I was shocked when tea cups were handled by another staff member with her fingers inside the cups and placed in the try. I requested they be changed for clean tea cups. The place itself inside and out was not welcoming with several tables not cleared of used crockery and cutlery. In fact I had to request our table be cleared and cleaned before I could put the tray down. Common Dobbies smarten your act or you’ll be losing my custom! Recommendation all staff are trained in Foid Hygiene and the certificate posted visible for customers to see your Rating. I could have been for all they knew a food standards inspector visiting anonymously !!!

Amazing staff. Very polite friendly. All the young staff members work really hard despite sometime the queue being long, and dealing with rude customers. I go here often. The food is lovely. Especially the toasty warm sandwiches. Has a good cake selection too. Food always arrives quick. Building is very clean. Lovely atmosphere sitting outside amongst the plants and flowers with the birds singing. A great place to go with a friend or family member for a cup of tea or coffee Takeaway options are available too Dog friendly for sitting outside! They offer your dog a bowl of fresh water when sitting outside

Went for the first time yesterday to see the garden centre. Got our pots. So it started to rain. So thought let’s have lunch. Should not have bothered. Ordered the scones which were lovely while we waited 14 minutes for 2 jackets . They arrived on very small side plates the smallest jackets we have ever seen. I had a spoonful of tuna a slice of lettuce 1 small cherry tomato . Nothing else no dressing . No. Butter in my jacket . My partner had the cheese or lack of it. We only ate half because they were just awful . Dried hard jackets we asked for red onion to be told by counter staff . We do not do Red onion ? I was like Really yet all the food posters in the restaurant had red onion. Asked for pepper to be told sorry have not got any ? The only Star of the day was the lovely tall young lady at the door whom was looking after all queueing at the front door , when she left the door to sort out tables and staff . As the place was a total mess with tables full of dirty food and only 1 boy alone to do everything. And the food talk trolly was totally full of dirty plates . This young lady should be made a manager as she was brilliant as we never seen a manager at all to get this place organised. So we will not be back to the Shambles names Dobbies

Have started to try to pop into this little cafe/restaurant when visiting the garden centre with or without my Grandchildren. Seemed like a nice thing to do. On first occasion it was absolute chaos. No trays, no plates for cake and it looked like none of the tables had been cleared for a couple of hours. Looks like there was a staff shortage and the two remaining staff members were doing their best, but under very difficult circumstances. The coffee and toasted fruit bread I eventually got was very nice, but I had to clear a table to find somewhere to sit amongst the carnage. Thought I would give it another try with my Grand-daughter for a nice treat. After waiting over 25 minutes at the counter to place my order I had to give up as we just wouldn't have enough time. There were only 4 people in front of me.....how can it take that long to take orders? There were two members of staff behind the till, it was painful to watch the inefficiency, I was very tempted to pop behind the counter to help out. Our lovely little trip ended up with a very upset, hungry and thirsty little girl having to go home with no treat and not really old enough to understand why. Very unlikely to go again.

We were a party of five who mostly opted for the over 60's menu. One of our party was vegan and the only option was jacket spud with baked beans. One had a Caesar salad and the other three had fish & chips. My fish had great crispy (greasy) batter but about a teaspoon of fish which I had to scrape off the skin. My friends didn't have crispy batter and said their fish was good - so it seems a bit hit or miss. The desserts were limited in choice - I requested Eton Mess and told the options were sticky toffee pudding or roly-poly. I ended up with fruit crumble and custard, with a lot of crumble!

The afternoon tea is great value with plenty to eat, I had a gluten free tea the best part of it was the gluten free scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam. You also got a gluten free lemon muffin which was very light with the right amount of lemon, a chocolate brownie and strawberry meringue with cream and half a strawberry on top. The meringue was very light and fresh and soft inside. You also got 4 gluten free sandwiches the bread was nice and fresh you got 2 with cheese and cucumber and 2 with ham and tomato. I'm not sure if you can ask for different fillings I was asked what I would like. Although they were very fresh if I'm honest I could have quite happily not had them. My afternoon tea looked a lot nicer then my husband's just because of the selection of cakes

Ever get the feeling your face don't fit??. Well mind certainly didn't on my visit this Sunday. I arrived at 11.35 my son was choosing items for a kids box lunch. When I spotted someone eating a tasty looking breakfast. Which I decided I would order even though I had no plans too. A couple which was first in the queue asked for breakfast, which they was told it had finished at. 11.30. Which seemed fair enough. The next couple which was one in front of me then asked a different server if they was to late for breakfast. Which she replied " No as you been in the queue for ages" this was not true as I let them past me while my son changed his mind. So on my turn I asked for a breakfast to be told sorry breakfast had finished. Normally I would have asked why but as my son was so hungry I just paid for his food. I found this very annoying. Then as I was leaving another woman was allowed to order for the breakfast menu. Save to say I won't be returning in a hurry. Absolutely disgusting customer service

I visited the coffee shop with my mum and two children for a lunch during half term,my mum ordered the over 60's deal . She asked for a coffee with her meal. I ordered a cheese wrap and two bowls of chips for the children .A pot of tea arrived with my mums lunch ( luckily my mum drinks both and wasn't bothered) my cheese wrap arrived ... it was a wrap cut in half with some slices of cheese inside and the wrap was rolling sadly around the plate looking all alone and very lost .I mentioned to the young man that had brought it to our table ( Bradley) that surely that wasn't it ? He said he's bring some garnish over , I mentioned £4.80 wasn't really acceptable for a wrap filled with slices of cheese and nothing like what I saw on the menu ,I asked for a refund as my mum was half way through her lunch and the kids were tucking into their chips.Bradley returned, he was extremely apologetic and asked me what it was exactly I had ordered . I showed him the menu and he replied he would double up the order therefore I would have two wraps, he was very sorry and disappointed for me therefore I said yes ok and Thank you.My children ordered one strawberry ice cream and one vanilla , two vanillas arrived . We were so entertained by the adventures of lunch that it wasn't a problem. The food is pricey and in our case a bit pot luck, we have the attitude of that if the problem is sorted with respect and patience that's good enough for us however some folk may have been quite put off by the confusions.A huge well done to Bradley who sorted out the wrap saga with confidence and patience. Maybe if the girl on the till had been a little more patient especially with my mum being of a certain age where she can spend awhile pondering if she wants fish or lasagne our visit would have been better ... we probably wouldn't visit again, not due to the mix ups as the young staff were very good but mainly due to the prices.

My partner and I went to the garden centre on Valentines Day to buy a plant and thought we would try the Sunday Roast while we were there. We eat roasts at pubs pretty much weekly and so have lots to compare to. We both had a chicken roast. The chicken was a boiled chicken breast and was so dry and rubbery, it was inedible. I tried to complain straight away but my boyfriend is too polite and didn't want a fuss on Valentines Day.The vegetables along with everything else were not fresh and tasteless, the stuffing was from a packet and hadn't been cooked properly, but worst of all were the 'roast' potatoes! They were practically mashed and saturated with oil. I had a bad stomach for the rest of the day. I don't know why I ate it?! The roast cost just under a tenner so was a complete ripoff. Although, I'm not sure any amount of price reduction would make the food acceptable!Go to the garden centre for flowers and plants; do not go there for a Sunday roast!

My friend and I are pensioners, every week we get the bus and go and have our pensioners lunch here, we always have the fish, chips and peas, tho there are other choices. We have never really had any complaints with the food, I think once of twice the peas were cold and one time the fish was very greasy, but apart from that it is fine. We try other places for lunch every now and then but still think this place is our favourite. We get the fish and chips, a desert plus a tea or coffee for £8. Only one 'niggle' is they sometimes have large parties there, usually it is a 'wake' then it is hard to get a seat. 99% of the staff are friendly, can't really fault it.

My husband & I were at the Garden Centre shopping and decided to take a break & have a coffee & scone. It was a glorious day and, of course, the café was busy. One would expect as much.My husband went to find a table & I started to queue.I queued. And I queued. The queue was near on out of the door! There was no manager in sight & the café was seemingly being run by trainees. There were only 2, perhaps, 3 actually serving and time certainly wasn't of the essence. Leaving only 1 to clear the detritus left by others. If sheer time waited that meant service was improved, then no disappointment there. But it wasn't, whilst eventually greeted with a welcoming smile (after a marathon queue) my order was taken incorrectly and I had to help myself to scones. The icing on the was a family of three jumping in front by asking friends they just met to order for them!Having waited so long, it was a relief to get served - so did the English thing & didn't complain about the order - just took it and ran!The scones were very good, I'll give them that. But everything else was just a mockery.

We went there for Mother's day with the whole family and despite reserving a table, there weren't enough chairs and the place was full. After a few minutes we got the extra chair we needed and ordered foo d and tea. The water in the teapot wasn't hot enough and the food smelt and tasted funny. Looking around, I noticed a lot of people left food on their plates. I was very disappointed as this horrible food was also quite expensive. Then upon visiting the toilet facilities, I noticed there was no toilet paper and the rooms weren't as clean as I'd expect them to be. It was a very disappointing visit to the establishment. Wouldn't recommend if you want nice food for your money.

I had a Festive Roast Dinner here during December 2014. The place is OK, reasonable service with polite staff however that is as good as it gets as food not particularly good.

I was sent a buy one get one free voucher for a cream tea for two so we decided to try them. What a revelation. The restaurant was really busy which is always a good sign. Our cream tea included jumbo scones, jam, cream and a generous pot of tea for two. It was most enjoyable. We shall certainly visit again to try some of the main courses and deserts we saw being served. They looked and smelt delicious. The young lady who served me was very pleasant too.

Like 'tea rooms' the term 'garden centre' probably evokes a certain image or indeed memory.Indeed, weak tea, scones that could break a foot if dropped and an out of control grandmother form part of one of my early experiences. I can clearly recall nan unwrapping the little butter parcels, plopping the contents onto the table and then squishing a saucer down onto it, chuckling as she did so. I also recall her putting all of the packets of sugar into her handbag, something that she did pretty much at whichever cafe mum was brave enough to take her into. No wonder she had false teeth...Thankfully that's all in the past and having unloaded those traumatic memories I can now move onto the relevant (ahem!) stuff. The restaurant at Wyevale Garden Centre (recently rebranded) has a really nice restaurant housed in an outbuilding at the rear of the main building. It's recently been redecorated, with new furniture and the menu's been updated too. We've been here many times and the food and drink has been consistently good. Crucially, the staff have been great too. Lauryn is worthy of special mention. She's always gone the extra mile to make our visit pleasant and also makes a superb fairy (the Christmas breakfasts are becoming a thing of legend and booking is essential). There's often special offers across their range. Today we had the traditional cooked breakfast on offer at £4.95, including a free tea or coffee and extra toast thrown into the bargain. The smoked bacon is heavenly and if you're partial to a fat, juicy, well presented sausage then pucker up and pop along. The sandwiches and meals are prepared freshly on site. Sandwiches are cut from proper cottage loaves, just like nan used to make (not the one with a sugar addiction) and you can even have them filled with roast beef carved from a joint right there in front of you. I'm feeling hungry again just thinking about this!As for the cakes and puddings, well this is another world entirely. As the title suggests meringues are on the menu and although I've not yet had one, I can't help but admire their plump, fruity appearance (presumably blended with raspberries based on their remarkable colour). My good lady too has often commented on the meringues. However, given that I married into a family of self confessed messy eaters (including my wonderful mother in law), we'll wait until the season turns entirely cooler. To me, the sight of cleavage acting as a crumb tray is a spectacle to behold. To an end of season, half dozy, irritable wasp, the temptation of cascading confectionery may be just too much to go for one last sugar rush...So then, to summarise (and get back to the point): Recommended.

We go to this restaurant/cafe quite regularly because its handy when we are in the garden centre. I would say that it is a bit hit and miss.Seating - inside its a bit ugly and the ambience isn't all that really. However, on a nice day, sitting outside is wonderful. You can see all the outdoor plants for sale and people watch and it is a lovely sun trap.Food - Hot food is really hit and miss. Sometimes it is nice, othertimes it is horrid. Avoid the sandwiches in the chiller at all costs. Boring fillings and dry bread. The ones they make up are alright, but could be better. However, the cakes and scones are always lovely.Service - Not great. The is usually always a queue which goes down very slowly. Generally there is always a new person on who doesn't know what they are doing (not their fault, but still not great when you have a long queue).I'd give it a try if you are there, but as garden centre cafe's go, there are others that are much nicer.

Arrived here just after noon on a Sunday for a family lunch. Weather was pleasant so sat outside on the terrace. The food we ordered was Roast Beef dinner, excellent. Fish and chips, great. Chicken curry, terrible. Jacket potato with Tuna, great. Considering all meals averaged about £8/£9 each it was good value except the curry dish. It reminded me of a Smart price £1 curry from the supermarket but worse. Service was excellent and cleanliness and wait times were ok. But don't order The curry !
