I visited here recently ...lets just say hygiene was not high on the list. Old bowls of batter left in the public area and what looked like dirty dismantled bike parts all over the place. I used to go here often when i lived in the atea, thought i would drop in for a tasty treat but it seems old owners have moved on. I ordered and took food home, unwrapped it and threw it in the bin ..full of greese and smelt like dirty oil.

Chips were burnt but edible. Overpriced greasy food. I loved the rice though, best part of my meal. I will not be eating anything from here again. Delivery was good though, ordered at 6.15pm and came at 7.15pm like the app said it would.

Great food, very quick delivery - would recommend and certianly order from Codfather again 1x Cod and chips 1x Salt and pepper prawns 1x quarter Peking duck

order tea for 7pm as was on duty. it came at 6. not happy as had to take it. fish was soggy chips over cooked and my Thai curry was so spicy I could not eat it. I normally love Thai curry but not this one. ended up leaving it. the beef curry was also far to hot. we are use to eating spicy food but this was awful. wasted £26. never again

The food was cold the batter was hard and very crispy on the sausages the chips were also very crispy wasn’t impressed waste of money!

VILE! The food provided was disgusting! All over fried and dry! Bother portion of chips were cold, dry and crispy....like the bottom of the fryer basket! Spoke to just eat and the restaurant refused a refund! The food went in the bin! Stick to either Chinese or fish and chips! Restaurant refused the refund because they said the food was all cooked fresh...NO WAY! Living in a seaside city you know what fresh fish and chips tastes like and this is not it......not even close!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Usually love this restaurant. Their fish and chips are normally superb. Sadly not tonight. We ordered two large cod which when they arrived (30 mins early, which is not good when sticking to a routine with a child), they were really small and made up of mainly batter. Me mudé a la vuelta de aquí en agosto de 2018. La tienda estuvo cerrada durante casi todo el mes de agosto y en septiembre, es tiempo de vacaciones, lo suficientemente justo. Llamé el viernes por la tarde a las 120 de la noche para comprobar que estaba abierto. . . ¿El hombre que contestó el teléfono me dijo "no estaban sirviendo papas el día de la comida de hoy"? El letrero de la puerta dice que está abierto de 12 pm a 2 pm todos los días. . . si no pueden ser molestados en abrir, no puedo ser molestado en gastar mi dinero allí. .

The fish and chips is ok but the Chinese food isn’t too good at all. Very greasy and not tasty at all. Needs a lot of improvement

Iv never opened a bag to find so much grease on the chip paper in my life and as for the fish the batter was so hard u could of stabbed someone with it and the fish was so dry and over cooked it was inedible I would never order from there again a waist of my money

Cod doesn't come with chips, portion size is rubbish, they where really rude when I rang them to see why I had about ten chips in my portion and asked politely if they could send some more chips even if I topped the driver. Will not order from here again

The owner and his family are very likeable. The food is not haute cuisine and I would not expect that. The menu is VAST. If you fancy a spot of roast duck chow mein this place owns it, oh and king prawn foo yung is pretty amazing too. I often buy a jumbo sausage whilst waiting. The ingredients of that will no doubt finish me off, but timing wise, my food is ready as I chomp the last bite.

Ordered 2 cod and chips. Well let's just say the food was nothing short of disgraceful. The chips were over done and the cod had a bitter taste like it had been sitting around for a long time. Then to top it off when I complained the driver came to give me my money back and he was the first little (I wont swear) but you all get the idea. I'd rather starve then ever eat from here again. You've all been warned.

Horrible food, all fish and chips soaking in oil, hot and sour soup don't know what's going on there, some funky smell, ribs completely carbonised. Very disappointed!!!

Fish, chips and mini spring rolls all tasted horrible...looked over done but judging from my own experience, working in a kitchen, I would say their oil is not fresh enough, pretty disgusting.

Llegó en el momento en que dijeron, llegó caliente, las patatas fritas eran agradables y el bacalao era encantador. Sin duda ordenar desde aquí de nuevo. Tuve que hacer clic cuando visitamos pero, por supuesto, no visitamos porque teníamos una entrega.

Speedy delivery but the chicken balls were still pink inside and tasted greasy. The satay chicken had hardly any meat in it and the chips were really over cooked... Probably recooked.. disappointing

All the dishes tasted pretty off and almost chemical, the veg noodles had next to no veg either

Everything was perfect, the only thing I'd say is that they didn't have one of the drinks we ordered and instead of calling to ask what we wanted they chose for us and sent one neither of us liked.

I choose to order their Chinese menu and I got the meal box, steam chicken and garlic fried water spinach. They have quite a few options of meal box, the one I got is stir fry pork with cucumber, egg and fungus. It is not spicy but full of flavor and nutrient balanced. The portion is good with rice and also comes with free drink. I can’t even eat the chicken, too full. The water spinach is always a good option if you would like to try the Chinese vegetable. Anyway, everything is good.

chips tasted like they where cooked twice..and they were to hard.. burger and bun was cold and hard , I asked for garlic mayo and got tartar sauce,, the chicken sweet and sour ,, the batter was under cooked and was cold ,, not a very good meal for the price,,

Always happy with the Codfather. They are polite and helpful and called me when they had ran out of an item instead of substituting it with something else without saying. In other words, they consulted me the way all companies should. The quality of food from the Codfather is amazing an the size of the portions are unbelievable. All in all, I'm a very happy bunny, more than willing to order from them again and again!!! :) :) :)

What can I say, the Codfather is always a good choice to order fish and chips or something Korean when feeling more adventurous. I like all the dishes on the menu and over time would like to try them all. So all in all, I'm very happy with the Codfather and would recommend them again and again.

Tuvimos una comida para llevar pescado y patatas fritas de aquí anoche y, aunque las patatas fritas eran agradables, el "bacalao" fue muy decepcionante, gris y no muy sabroso y la pasta no era muy agradable.

Good fish and chips and excellent Chinese dishes at some of the best prices in town.

this was quite honestly the worst food I’ve ever had from anywhere in brighton. the crispy beef was old and soggy and brown (like off yellow brown whereas normally it’s it’s bright pink) the rice was cold, the lemon chicken was clearly someone else’s order they sent back, in fact it probably all came from an old order. it was disgusting. when I complained the restaurant refused to do ANYTHING about it. had to go through just eat and only managed to get a fiver back. disgusting.

They do good fish and chips and Chinese. You should totally get takeout there, they're lovely people and they could use the business.

Ni idea de cómo este lugar tiene las críticas negativas. La comida china es excelente y tiene un amplio menú vegetariano. En cuanto a las patatas fritas. Que cocinarlo fresco cada vez que he estado allí, así que es mejor que llamar con antelación, pero que han sido siempre muy jugosas y el aceite son fritas en parece muy limpio. Es el mejor local de chips que me he recordar y me encanta comer allí - tanto estoy escribiendo una rara crítica

Really bad fish and chips. Batter so over cooked you can barely bite through it and chips held hot for so long they're dry as sin. Apparently the Chinese food is better just avoid the fish and chips!

forgot about our drinks at first they gave us something else as they didn't bring what we had ordered. the chips were not very good but the batter on the fish was really good!

I would of liked some cod with my batter tons of batter and dried up fish, the large cod is smaller than a small cod from any where else, inside the steak and kidney "pukka" pie the top of the meat/grave was dried out like a hard crush (binned it) half hour after I requested my order they rang me to ask why we haven't ordered any chips? Didn't realise they was compulsory :\ order took forever big disappointment would not recommend

Food arrived 20mins late & I was charged £1 more than it cost by the delivery driver, portion size was good but food was very very greasy! Wouldn't order again...

Three items of our ordered menu were substituted/ undelivered. Plus they charged extra £1 on top of the delivery amount because i live on a university campus. Will not be ordering from them again.

Not the best place for fish and chips

The food was delicious and delivered earlier than expected; BUT there was a SEWING NEEDLE in one o the dishes we ordered... an actual SEWING NEEDLE and this baffled my friends and I.

One of the drinks was not delivered with the order, the driver was nice about it but it was not his fault. The drink should have been with the order.

Good chips, always a bit of a long wait

Waited 1 hour 45 minutes rang and they said driver will be with us shortly, very annoyed as never had this with any takeaway service before food was expected at 19:00 what a big lying :(

The Chinese food is really good, the fish and chips is truly, truly awful. And despite paying £2 delivery on just eat they still charged us more cash on the door for delivery. Get with it Cod Father

Worst delivery ever received. Cancelled out first order without telling us a reason. Batter was too oily where you had too spirt it out. Burger was as dry as cardboard, woman on the phone was rude

Really authentic Chinese food! didn't have the fish and chips so we didn't know how it was. Delivery time was quick, 30 mins during lunchtime. The Hunan pork was amazing. Everything we ordered was fantastic.

When you enter a fish and chip shop and they do a full Chinese menu the warning lights should have lit up. The fish was mediocre but the chips were dire. £15 for 2 large cod and chips. Bland, bland, bland!

Food arrived two hours after ordering so almost an hour later than the estimated time. The driver spoke very little English so when he got lost trying to find my flat I had to run around campus looking for him instead of directing him to me which kind if defeats the point of having food delivered to you. And the food was pretty bland. I have had food from here before which has been good and much better service so this was a major disappointment

Your delivery driver, "Ray", called me and repeatedly said "hello" over and over again because I don't think he could hear me. He called again and told me he was here to deliver my food, albeit in broken English. I managed to figure out he was stuck at the vehicle access gate, despite me writing out access instructions in the delivery notes. Did Ray read these instructions? Can he read? I spent several minutes with him on the phone, trying to explain how to use the code panel. This would have been quite straightforward if he listened to the instructions relayed to him on the phone, but I suspect there was a bit of a language barrier. I tried explaining that he could use the elevator to get to my floor, but he hung up before I could finish. It is not my job to handhold your delivery drivers to help them deliver food. My input should only be providing an access gate code, not to deal with someone who can barely speak English. Regarding the food, it was typical fish and chip shop grub. There wasn't anything particularly great about any of the items. The fish was quite greasy and I didn't finish it because it was just bland. Bits of the fish batter were also peeling off and sticking to the paper wrapping, which isn't a pleasant sight. The curry sauce didn't look particularly edible but it did taste alright. I don't recommend this venue if you're wanting hassle-free fish and chips delivered to you, unless you like greasy and peeling fish in tandem with a poor delivery experience.
