Waited to be seated, eventually somebody came. The person said there's a table it was near the toilets. I asked if we could sit somewhere else she looked and said yes on the other side of the room, which was a better located table. We sat and waited after 10 mins I asked the same person if we could order? Oh yes and came with her iPad. We said what we'd like when the food came it wasn't what we ordered? How can they get it wrong when they tap on the IPad? No apology, another person bought out the correct food! We ate the doorstep sandwiches (this should be mentioned on the menu). Our dirty plates were not removed until l asked a woman who had walked past our table numerous times! (I believe she could be in a manager role)?. (miserable looking)! Never asked if everything was ok! Hence the review! I did notice that tables were only cleared when customers left. Then we waited to pay and there was no queue! I went with an open mind of all the bad reviews but sorry to say it was disappointing. It never used to have the problems that we had today! You should take a good look at the chaotic way you are running the business! Your customers are noticing! Dark, miserable uninspiring decor too! Plenty of other places in the area with great food and service!

This morning I had to go to Penzance i’m on my way back home I decided to pop in for some lunch. I could’ve sat outside and had a pasty a sausage roll or a home-made Panini but the new summer menu was hard to resist I decided on the loaded nachos and was not disappointed. for £12.50. it was extremely good value for money and I struggled to finish it. The staff were pleasant and helpful an although I was prepared to wait my food arrived within 20 minutes. Well worth a visit.

Very disappointed with the new cafe. Very limited menu and expensive. No longer have the previous staff who were wonderful. I was a regular visitor to the cafe. No more ! I will no longer recommend it

Although the cafe was tasteful redecorated, the cornish coffee was the worse I’ve had anywhere. I was served a flat white, what I ordered, in a late cup at a temperature which burnt my tongue. We were unable to drink the coffee as it was so bad. Also the table had a glass cover but under it were food crumbs. Just not worth the money unfortunately. On a positive note the young staff in the cafe were very pleasant and welcoming.

First visit to newly refurbished cafe. First impression it was very busy & noisey . We were seated at a table but given no instruction to order at counter Large selection of very ornate cakes none looked homemade . Ordered coffees , fruit scone and Bakewell slice. Nice mug of coffee but both the scone and slice were incredibly dry and tasteless in fact scone so dry it broke up to pile of crumbs ! Along with the overpriced plants we probably won’t rush back !

My friends and I all ordered cheese and chutney ciabatta. What came was a bread roll. Not toasted. Asked why not ciabatta and why not toasted was told it’s a ciabatta round roll and they don’t toast them. So basically a cheese and chutney, very dry, roll!! Very noisy and dark.

What a pity you didn't say on your website you could not sell us a plant pot on Easter Sunday, we had over an hours trip to find this out and had to return on Easter Monday.

Basically, menu was awful, extremely limited and had nothing on it we wanted for lunch. No baked potatoes with home-made slaw (as previous), no light snacks on toast. Everything unsuitable for my elderly mother also. So we did not have lunch, just a cuppa! We have visited many times in the past but unless the menu is changed for proper small lunches, we will not return. Not everyone wants chips, chips and more chips with ciabatta or cakes!! Such a shame as the previous menu was great and something to look forward to. What a disappointment!

Patrons should be aware that the excellent summary review for this café is based on experiences with the previous owners which for my wife and I were always excellent. Today we sampled the new owners fare and it is unlikely that we well ever return. We waited 55 minutes before receiving our meal. Friends that were coincidently also there waited well over an hour. I have never, ever in 60 years of eating out, refused to pay for a meal but I did today. Today's meal was disgusting. The single vegetable was totally inedible, I couldn't even cut it. And the so-called Cumberland sausage consisted of a totally green material, not cooked through, never seen meat. I love sausage but I couldn't finish this. And everything totally tasteless. No taste at all. And greatly inflated prices. £15 for my so called sausage and £15 for my wife's liquid meal, needed a spoon to eat it despite it being, supposedly, linguini. Stay away from this place. Serving staff excellent. Need a new chef, that's for sure.

like many was eagerly awaiting their brand-new opening of the bistro. Arrived at 12:30, and my friend had managed to get a table beforehand. We were made fully aware that they were busy and it would be a half an hour wait for food. My friend had already ordered before I got there. my order was taken very promptly and i asked for coffee while waiting for my lunch. my friends lunch came out 3/4 of an hour and as my order had only been taken a few minutes after hers I sat and thought mine would be here shortly. My friend actually finished her lunch before I had to ask where my sandwich was because I had noticed people who had come in after me had been served food. Within minutes the waitress came out with a sandwich which was incorrect. She then returned and bought me the correct sandwich. By this time I was quite hungry but was really disappointed. I didn’t mind the delay because I was made aware, but it did appear I had been forgotten, because others had been served beforehand which made me wonder if my sandwich had been prepared very quickly because the spread they had used on the bread was either a plant-based spread or a cheap margarine. It definitely did not taste nice. The prawns were very watery with no flavour or prawn sauce and the slaw lacked taste. The berry drizzle that was added onto the side again a nice touch but not a lot of taste so I think it is fair to say I was disappointed my meal lacked taste. However I will return to give them a second try because I appreciate they’ve reopened with a new chef and they did appear to be very busy and a little bit panicked. I would like to give them one tip that perhaps they did a taste test of their foods before sending it out as it lacked. On a final note, my friend had fish and chips and although I’m sure she’s going to do her own review I have to say the peas that came with it looked like they’ve been under a heat lamp all shrivelled and she couldn’t eat them

Visited today with my sister as we wanted to see what the cafe was now like since it recently changed hands and unfortunately, this has not been for the better. Upon arrival, it was very busy and we were informed by staff that it would be a 30-35 minute wait for food!! We were both hungry but decided to wait anyway. Fortunately for us we only had to wait for 15 minutes and my fish Finger sandwich was nice and the waiting staff friendly and attentive. We also ordered 2 lattes which were nice and hot and a portion of fries. Although asked for a vanilla latte and a caramel latte was bought out instead, however this was quickly rectified. Furthermore, this is where the positives end. For one, I found the menu pricing rather expensive. - our bill came to £23 and then some for one fish finger sandwich, 2 lattes and a portion of fries I feel this is slight daytime robbery!! I begrudgingly paid the bill. Initially, I wanted to order the vegetarian breakfast but noticed that this was on the breakfast menu only. I asked the waitress if they could make me the vegetarian breakfast but she went to check and came back with a no, the chef/s won’t make this as it’s not on the lunchtime menu. I then asked if I could substitute bacon and sausage off the all day breakfast for an extra egg and hash brown to which the chef/s was again not willing to accommodate. Although I am not vegetarian/vegan, however if you are and fancy an all day breakfast alternative, you’ll be out of luck as the chef/s will only be prepared to make you the non vegetarian version only and not accommodate any additional dietary requirements! I mean come on, it doesn’t take much to crack an extra egg or put an extra hash brown on in place of something and I’m a paying customer!!! It’s safe to say we won’t be returning anytime soon and do not recommend it here now it’s changed hands - why change something that works very well and was loved by many people I’ll never know! The cake selection did not look nowhere near as good as the garden kitchen cafes was neither - also seemed like a big lack of choice in comparison. The interior decor is now dark and dingy and not very inviting or bright like the garden kitchen’s. I normally welcome change, especially if it is for the better, however I can safely say this time it was not. I have yet to visit so cannot comment too much but I have heard great things about Tony’s Tavern at Elysian Fields B&B which is a mere few yards up the road, so I recommend travelling one stop further and taking your custom elsewhere for what I believe will be a better experience!!

Visited for lunch today, waited 50 mins for soup, 2x chicken wings & 1x cheesy chips. The soup was lovely & hot but the chicken wings were lukewarm and chips were almost cold. It’s a shame as the wings were very tasty. The food seemed to be served on cold plates/dishes which did not help. The staff need to communicate better with waiting customers as well. Table next to us also waited 50 minutes and food was cold so they requested a full refund as they weren’t prepared to wait another 50 minutes. The Manageress was very pleasant and did ask us how long we had had to wait. She offered us some vouchers but as we’re on holiday visiting family, she offered cake, which looked lovely. However, when eating at home it was very dense and we had to throw it away. You are expected to pay upfront for your food/drinks even though it’s table service. I don’t mind that but being asked for a tip prior to receiving any service is ridiculous. I do tip but not before I’ve received the service. Glad I refused as they were not worthy of a tip today, although mainly kitchen’s fault serving cold food and waiting times. Hope they improve the food & service as it had been recommended by family but as it stands I would not recommend and wouldn’t return.

We are regular visitors to this cafe, and our grandchildren love being taken here for a treat, their eyes popping at the wonderful selection of cakes to choose from. Staff are always helpful, accomodating and friendly. Very handy to drop in on a return from Penzance for some lunch...baguettes (especially prawns with Marie Rose sauce) are a lunchtime favourite. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Been coming here for many years, it is an absolute joy every time we come for a meal. Today me and my mother came for afternoon tea and everything was delicious and delectable, as it always is. The service is absolutely flawless, all the staff are exceptional and extremely welcoming, especially the manager. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a perfect meal out.

My elderly parents stayed overnight at this charming local inn. They were, from the start, treated with huge care and respect. Staff went above and beyond to cater for their needs which included swapping rooms to allow easier access, housing (and charging) a mobility scooter at some inconvenience and finally ensuring they left and returned safely from their social commitment. Their kindness was amazing. And the room itself was fresh, clean and well maintained with all the charm you would expect in this lovely building.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
