Stayed 2 nights. Easy to find. Went for a circular walk first evening..then had a excellent meal. As we were getting up early next day they had left a superb continental breakfast in our room. Breakfast next day was freshly cooked and lovely. Highly recommend this lovely place

Absolutely brilliant pub - a gem. We had booked in to stay the night for a party nearby, arrived at lunchtime and switched the engine off for 24 hrs Had a great lunch, with a busy pub garden hosting a large family gathering, couples having lunch, dogs wandering happily around and just a overall feeling of the world is ok! Great comfy rooms, lovely breakfast, and friendy staff Went for a stroll over the surrounding fields before leaving, bucolic bliss I am a fussy stayer so this is praise indeed - well deserved Thank you

En-route from Kidlington, Oxfordshire to the South coast on a Sunday, we phoned ahead to double-check if they were still serving roasts at 15:30 and yes, indeed they were. This place is only about 10 minutes drive from the A34 turn-off and what a great find. Cosy, character, country pub with plenty of parking and outdoor seating, and excellent food. Good choice on menu including GF ice-creams. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Hope to return some time and stay in their B & B rooms as would be a good base for the area's highlights such as Highclere Castle.

Lovely pub both inside and out , with friendly smiley staff but very poor food. Roast potatoes like greasy bullets, with not a crunch in sight, an odd selection of veg with random spices thrown in which added nothing, horrible Eton Mess and beef like an old shoe. Such a let down

One of those rare pubs that does snacks all day, well until 3pm in the week and 6pm on Saturday, when we were there. Good parking, great to stop over in this off season when nothing seems to be particularly welcoming around Highclere Castle. It seems that when the house is not open to the paying visitor, the grounds, even some online mapped public pathways, are not open either. Lovely service in this pub, good food, great bar selection and prices are affordable. Dog friendly

Called in to eat at lunch time today and ,as ever, the food was excellent. We booked a late Sunday lunch after a visit to Highclere and chose it on its proximity and reviews. Great choice. The prawn cocktail was lovely and the lamb dinner superb. Everything was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were really nicely done. Great choice of wine (excellent Cotes de Rhine). What added to the experience was the delightful young pair looking after diners. A really great place. We wish we lived nearer.

A pre booked late Sunday lunch at this Inn turned out to be a very pleasurable experience. Quality of the food was excellent, a classic prawn cocktail was delicious and a roast lamb lunch that had perfectly cooked vegetables was really good value. However in our opinion, what really made the afternoon for us were the delightful young waiter and waitress who served us with humour and efficiency. If we lived nearer this venue would definitely be one that we would visit again. Really hope that the management realise the quality they have in their staff. Date of visit was October 9th

My husband and I had steak & ale pie with chips and veg, my sister-in-law had seared salmon steak and my brother-in-law had slow cooked pork belly. For dessert we shared a gorgeous Eton Mess and white chocolate and raspberry brioche bread and butter pudding with custard - every dish was delicious and my husband, normally a 'picky' eater, emptied his plate. Ate here in August and the usual good menu. Choice of starters, mains, pub classics and a kids menu. Meals always enjoyable. A warm sunny day added to the enjoyment on our August visit allowing us to eat in the garden.More than adequate portion sizes and great chunky chips.Thought we’d repeat the experience in September and, for the first time, tried the internet reservation facility after receiving an answer machine response when telephoning. Made an internet booking on a Thursday for a Sunday lunch and immediately advised by E Mail that booking would be confirmed later, I assumed during the working day. Had heard nothing by Saturday so telephoned the pub who couldn’t acknowledge the requested reservation and advised there was no availably until 2.45. Then received an E Mail mid afternoon Saturday advising there was no table availability Sunday for my original 12.30 request.Seems that online booking can be problematical so would always advise booking by telephone to be sure of getting a table.

My Husband I have just stayed here for one night in a very nice double ensuite room.We arrived and checked in at the bar and were taken to our room by a lovely lady. Although the room overlooked the car park and children's play area, there was no sound at all from either and I was shocked to see so many people outside when I had to pop to the car as we really couldn't hear anything from outside in the room! The room was a very good size with a wardrobe, dressing table with large mirror and stool and a separate single high backed chair. There was also a full length mirror by the window. It was great to have a foldable luggage stand as it's a pet hate of mine to have to put bags on the bed for ease of access.I was pleased to have both air con and heating in the room along with a small heater and heated towel rail in the bathroom. Therefore, we were able to keep the temperature more than adequate throughout our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding was so clean it almost squeaked, if you know what I mean! It was still nice and soft though. The bathroom was a reasonale size again with a good hot shower and large sink underneath a wall mounted mirror. The towels were about the largest we've ever had when staying away which makes a change from the small ones usually provided. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were very tasty, fresh and hot. The staff were friendly and efficient throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble. I assume it was the owner who checked us in and served our breakfast and she went above and beyond to cater for our needs and make us feel welcome. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would recommend The Furze Bush Inn to anyone.

Stayed at this Inn for two nights when visiting Highclere Castle.Firstly, Covid ruled are well followed in the bar and restaurant. Tables are screened where necessary, with clear screens so you don't feel like you're in a box. The food in the restaurant is lovely and very reasonably priced. The room was lovely, spacious and clean and the beds comfy. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and there was juice, fruit, cereal, jam and butter and toast was brought up fresh. I try not to have too much gluten so there was no problem with me having a gf roll instead of toast- and it was warm! There is tea and coffee in the room and you can ask for more if you want it.Tina and her staff are just so lovely. Big thank you also to George who waited on us in the restaurant. He was really attentive and so funny! It was more like staying with friends.Would not hesitate to stay there again. As an aside, you can call ahead apparently, of you have a motor home and you may be able to park up there for a fee.

We checked that the pub was dog friendly before we set off for lunch and settled down in the bar with the menu. We were hastily told by a woman, presumably the manager, that dogs were not allowed in the bar and showed us a cramped and mean little area at the back where there were no free tables. There is probably some scope for staff training as the woman was bordering on rude; it could have been handled more sympathetically. While pubs are free to choose their dog policy, it would be better not to allow dogs in at all rather than claim to be dog friendly and ban them from the garden and 90% of the bar and restaurant area. Needless to say, we left and had a lovely welcome and nice meal at the nearby very dog-friendly Woodpecker pub.

I had a few issues and I must admit I am at times a harsh critic but I think my issues have merit. First the breakfast. The coffee carafe was very small and contained very little volume and so after I filled my coffee cup 1.5 times I was then at odds with having to wait for the one waitstaff to give me another pot. Further, when you order your food you must talk to the one waitstaff who will bring it out to you and the quantity they bring you is variable. You are required to order items from the traditional English breakfast which includes eggs (scrambled or over easy), bacon, sausage, toast (white or wheat), mushrooms, and tomatoes. You get butter but when they bring out the toast, the eggs are on top of the toast. Further they put jelly on the table presumably for the toast, but I guess here at Furze they try to force you to eat your toast with eggs on top.Traditional breakfast buffets allow you to take the quantity of item you would like which in my opinion is always preferable because a young child will not ever eat the same quantity of food as a fully grown lumberjack sized man (me).In the room, the shower was so small that it was difficult to fit into. I was unable to bend my legs while remaining under the water to wash lower sections of my body. Water pressure was good. I wonder how people taller than me might fit - I am 6’2” tall and I barely fit.The air conditioner refused to work and we had to bang the remote control with our hands like an old tv remote to get the thing to turn on. The room was stuffy and the volume of air coming out of the air conditioner was far too low to have an effect on our comfort level in the room. The window outside our room had people smoking and so we could not open the window to let fresh air in to make things more comfortable.Overall 2/5. Dinner was outstanding and the rooms are spacious.

We have been here many times before and have always had an excellent Sunday Roast, so what a pity the Christmas dinner was a let down, the soup was apparently delicious, but what a shame about the main course especially the roast potatoes and sprouts. Some of the roasties were green others had bad lumps on them, one was quite bad on one half they were not even properly roasted, even the mashed potato had black bad bits in it, disgusting they were even served like it, the sprouts were very hard even us sprout lovers ended up leaving them you could barely cut them in half, I've heard of al-dente but they were ridiculous what a waste. The desserts were fine. The most disappointing thing about the evening was when the waitresses were told about our concerns they just walked away sniggering and giggling. Before we were ready to leave we had the bill just dumped on our table, as if they wanted us to leave we usually have to ask for the bill when we are ready to go. so we paid up and left. It's a shame but l don't think we will be going back there the place seems to be going down hill.

firstly lovely service by very polite staff, food cooked very well. nice choice of starters and mains. We all had roast today which was presented well vegetables cooked very well. I would prefer not too have Yorkshire pudding with pork and would also prefer gravy served separately but that is a personnel choice. I would highly recommend the Furze Bush. also a quick mentioned for the fantastic Christmas tree set in the center of the restaurant which was a joy.

Arrived for a last minute weekend away as an unannounced Vegan, and I have to say the waitress and chef were amazing in accommodating me. I was offered 3 vegan alternatives freshly cooked and not on the menu. Bravo! Amazing ♡

We meet up with friends, we have not been hear for some years we always enjoyed our meals. This list was not up to what we remember, restaurant was cold as was the vegetables on the mains, prawn cocktail had no flavour was served on a bed of mixed leaves with big chunks of onion, prawns were small frozen and tasteless, no lemon and a hard roll with walnuts in it, mains I had the salmon which was over cooked with the same prawns on the sauce was not nice, my husband had the belly pork that was just a strip of belly pork I have to say what meat was on it was ok but the rind was tough not like belly pork we have had here before, all of our vegetable were cold,

I always dread staying in these kind of places when going to a party or wedding near by. But what a pleasant surprise our night here was !

Went with small group of family and friends for birthday meal. Drinks ordered at the bar and taken through to the restaurant. Waitress was very friendly indeed. If she was unable to answer a question she went and found out. Chef very accommodating on a dish that one of us wanted differently. All food was good quality and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Visited with a large family group, good for children as the large garden can accommodate all of them! The menu choice is very good with a varied selection of well cooked food. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we didn’t have the usual dreaded long wait for the bill.

A good menu choice of starters, mains, pub classics and a kids menu. We always comment on how enjoyable our meals have been. A warm sunny day added to the enjoyment.

Visited as they have a lovely beer garden and I had a dog with me on a sunny hot evening. Error 1 , not allowed into the garden with a dog, we were put around the back into a small courtyard. Then waited 20 minutes to get served, because we were waiting at the ‘back bar’! Eventually got served the wrong drinks. Gave up and ordered water! Ordered some food and wish I’d never bothered. Locals were lovely but the pub was awful.

We have been going to the Furze Bush at least twice a month for the last 5 years. Usually sit in the bar area as like the atmosphere in there especially in the winter with the fire going. We have never had a bad meal in that time hence why we keep going back.

Nice place with good service. The disappointing bit were the burgers which were just dry and tasteless. It really need something adding such as tomatoe, lettuce, pickle, relish or something other than just being cheese and meat in dry bread. I know there is a salad garnish but this doesn’t suit itself to being inside a burger. We eventually got the coleslaw once I had chased which they had forgot to give us. You can do much better.

What a lovely little pub in the countryside this is, location its out of town but worth the little drive out or the fresh air experience.

Really great warm welcome table was ready and waiting. Staff were very friendly helpful and amusing. Nothing was to much trouble as we asked for various extras which included a cheese board which was not on the menu. They had laid on a egg hunt for the children which was a lovely touch even allowed my very grown up children to partake.

Last here in October with friends, it was good then & just as good if not better this time. We had starters consisting of duck pate & the prawn salad which we all enjoyed, the main meals were scampi, fish & chips, steak & ale pie & I had the turkey & trimmings, there was so much there that none of us could eat it all, then of course we had to have the Christmas pudding. It all went down really well. The waitresses were absolutely great, always smiling, very polite and even put up with our sense of humour. We’ll be back again in a few months.

Great staff, lovely to sit by the fire in the bar. Restaurant area felt a bit formal to me so stayed in the bar. Food was excellent but very small portions, and not cheap either. I had the gammon and could have eaten 2 plates.

Called in for breakfast . I have visited before and found it quite nice although some of the staff can be a little curt. This time i was met with a miserable man with glasses , bellowing out orders. He handed me my order and proceeded with a very backward stereotype, a racial "joke". I don't expect to be racially abused when i am spending my hard earned money in your cafe. After his bigoted quip, he scurried off very quickly. I am glad he did as it was likely he d have had his glasses smacked off his head. Cheeky boy trying to belittle people when he's serving coffees for a living. I wont be back near the establishment as I don't support bigots.

Booked for Sunday lunch - waited an age to be seated, very pleasant environment, ordered the Sunday roast, this took 4 trips from the waitress to bring the main course - the veg, the potatoes, the gravy by the time I'd gotten all I needed the whole meal was cold - no check back, ordered dessert - the crumble that also was stone cold - again no check back, the staff were polite and helpful but seemed to lack direction and leadership and seemed more invested in the wedding which was taking place - food very underwhelming
