Lovely welcome and lovely food. The menu offered variety, the staff were very warm and attentive and the ambience was homely. The portions and quality of the food were good and the coleslaw was the best ever! Would thoroughly recommend.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

This was our first time at the Front Parlour and clearly this is a popular little place. However, the customer service experienced was beyond appalling! We decided to visit the tea room to simply have a drink and a slice of cake, whilst enjoying a bit of a rest. We arrived just as they were opening and there was already a substantial queue. The venue had plenty of signs stating that Sunday roasts are served and there is no need to book. Additionally, there is plenty of seating for around 60 guests. We found a table and then I joined the queue to place an order, which took approx. 20 minutes owing to the number of large groups ordering lunch. I noted a comment made to one customer that £50 notes are not accepted (and there is a sign stating this), however, the tone in which the server/owner approached this made even me feel uncomfortable! When it was time to place my order, I asked for a pot of tea for one, a latte, and a slice of cake. This was met with the server asking if I was ordering a roast dinner. I replied no, and she immediately looked frustrated as she scribbled away and looked down.... almost like rolling her eyes at me. The drinks came promptly, and was served by a very polite young lady. At no point during our visit did we have any issue with the waitress. A short time later, the server/owner came up to clear our table by asking if we were done. My partner replied by saying we had finished with the plate but she still had tea to drink. The server then rudely stated that she needed the table for roast dinners, and walked away. Other customers then looked over at our table as this drew attention. Approximately 10 minutes later, the server/owner came back to the table and said she was sorry, but would need us to leave as she needs the table for roast dinners and not just people wanting tea and sat chatting! She also, very rudely said that we had been there for about 45 minutes and quite frankly that is more than enough time! Again, this drew attention from other tables! We finished up and left, noting at least 4 other tables that were free or awaiting to be cleaned, and empty tables outside. This was meant to be a nice little break with a drink, and we were made to feel like youths causing anti-social behaviour! The server (who I believe to be the owner) was, quite frankly, rude with zero customer service and people skills! Nowhere prior to entry could we see any information stating customers wanting a roast dinner only were welcome. If this is the case, tables should be reserved to make it clear! This is a tea room and we simply wanted a drink and a rest. The whole experience left us both feeling uncomfortable by the way we treated; spoken to; and the attention is created by the server/owner! I have never been one for confrontation and not once did we bite back at this lady, who immediately walked away after laying down the law to us! I am all for fairness when writing reviews and so this is my honest review. Sadly, the only positive comment I can leave is regarding the polite young waitress who brought our drinks. I am sure this venue has its fair share of loyal customers; however, this is one place that will not receive our custom again. I would also very strongly not recommend this establishment to anybody, either local or visiting. There is a much more friendly tea shop near the amusements. I recommend that you avoid this tea shop at all costs.

We were in Burnham for a day and were looking for a light lunch. We went to the Front Parlour and the lady waiting on the tables was extremely helpful. We said we only wanted a toasted sandwich and although they were only serving roast dinners as it was a Sunday ( they looked lovely but the way) the waitress said she would see if they could do it. Sure enough the answer was yes and a little while later 2 toasted ham and cheese sandwiches well cooked appeared with a salad side and crisps. All in all a pleasant experience with nice staff, a true treasure highly recommend.

I just came across The Front Parlour by accident. What a find! Tea was served in a china cup and the ham sandwich was accompanied by a small salad and crisps all served on the lower tier of the plate. The upper tier contained a scrumptious scone with clotted cream and a fresh strawberry. To complete the feast there was a generous slice of sponge cake. I was transported back to an earlier era of visits to the seaside. The young waitress was cheerful and obliging. Thanks very much.

We normally steer clear of seaside cafes as a good number of them are greasy spoon type places but after peering through the window and seeing diners seemingly enjoying their lunches we decided to try it. We were not disappointed. In fact we were delighted with our Sunday roasts. The lady in charge was very pleasant, the café had an old world atmosphere, the music was in keeping with the décor and the roast beef was excellent. This was followed by home made sweets and a bill much less than we would have paid in a pub owned by a chain. Next time we are in Burnham we shall certainly return.

lacks in character it makes up for with mediocre coffee??Well, it is a place that seems to have character, it isn't too bad, old-fashioned and like visiting a cannel boat, and the coffee in its americano or expresso form is like boiled shoes. The only downside to The Front Parlour is that it is not open in the winter, so it's open April to the very end of September only. What's good? Well, where do we start? Easy access either the beach, or from parking on the seafront, down a side street, or a 100m walk from the main carpark. A small frontage with outside tables reveals a two-storey tardis-like interior, with well-spaced tables in a light, bright and quirky interior. Think modern Victorian library, and if you book ask for a sea view table.A senior pair of staff drill and manage an enthusiastic and efficient young local friendly team. The wide selection of food is well priced, of good quality, prepared well and cooked to a good standard, which is far better on all levels than many other local establishments. Portions are generous, but beware if you fill-up too much on a main course, you will miss out on the delight of a genuine homemade and coming back for more desert. So forget the waistline, just taste the quality, and if you think it will be too much then choose a child's-portion main.A Sunday lunch for two - child's sized mains, a desert each, and two cups of coffee each - came on each of our numerous visits to between £30 and a maximum of £35. In other seaside resorts that could easily be £50, for something of far less quality.Fun, enjoyable and good quality in a quirky, light and homely space, with service. Well worth a visit, we never regret a meal - it's just that it's not open in winter.

From the outside this looks like a hotel rather than a cafe/restaurant but the interior is all restaurant, it is - I believe - a family owned and run business. We all had excellent hot meals and drinks. The menu is quite varied so there is plenty of choice for everyone. The staff are all very polite, friendly and welcoming. Altogether an enjoyable experience for all three of us. At the time we were there there was only one other family eating. The accessibility is good - for wheelchairs etc - once inside, however there is a small step up and front door is similar to that of any cafe/restaurant. This place looks really nice from the outside but is a little disappointing. Inside, it's comfortable and cosy - and apparently has tables upstairs too, but it lacks crucial things to be considered special. Firstly, we ordered roast beef - and whilst the beef was lovely, the vegetables let it down badly. Instant frozen potatoes and the sprouts hadn't even been cooked-through and were hard and frozen in the middle! Not enough gravy either. The apple pie portion was stingy to say the least - and the whole meal cost £27.00 for 2, which is hardly cheap for lunch-time....If the portions were a bit bigger and the veg fresh it might have been worth it.

Had a really nice Sunday lunch at the parlour. Got there just before the rush and managed to get a table upstairs looking over the beach. Food was okay. Probably all frozen but still really tasty.. The service was really good. The staff so friendly a real credit to the management. Definitely go back again.

Family run since 1984 - with the same menu? Roast dinners every day of the week, ham and eggs, sausage and chips etc. We got what we asked for and it was good. Cant really complain. Decor is bonkers (teapots and fairy lights), staff are friendly and cream tea looked lovely. A very british menu.

My husband and three children popped in for Sunday lunch. Staff were so friendly and I loved the decor and cosy feel. My husband had cod and chips which was ok, the children's meals were fine but I felt really disappointed with my roast dinner. The beef looked like the pre sliced stuff you can buy at the deli and the spuds were definitely bought in frozen ones. For £7.80 I expected a bit more effort put in! Saying that we will definitely return for cream teas, they looked fab

I've given this place 4 stars, but this is really only reflective of the service and decor, as the food alone would only have earned it 3.In the sea of tat and chip shops that appears to be typical Burnham fashion, this place is a lovely retreat, it is comfortable, roomy, and has a very nice ambience. The service was quick and friendly. The food however, let it down. Yes it was well presented, but the ingredients were cheap - think cash and carry type sausage and burgers - and although the prices were ok, I wouldn't mind paying a little more for better quality ingredients, which, I think, would also be more in keeping with how nice every other aspect was.

We were to late for the Roast dinners, they had sold out, it was 2.30.pm on a Bank holiday Monday. Totally our fault for arriving to late. We decided on the High Tea. It was lovely, sandwiches, crisps little salad, scone cream & jam, with a slice of fruit cake. & a pot of tea included in the price. Set in lovely Victorian style, fab. Staff are lovely too.

went to this restaurant for lunch last week and have to say I was very impressed with it, I had high tea and my sons had beef dinner and sandwiches, my high tea was beautiful and presented stunningly plenty of tea in the teapot (and hot water supplied) there was loads on the tray so much so I ended up sharing my cakes with my children so they didn't get to sample the other cakes, looking forward to my next visit

We found this lovely place as we strolled along the front. We have 2 young children who asked for something that wasn't on the menu, it was no problem to the very friendly staff. My husband and I enjoyed their cream tea, a real holiday treat and it was simply delicious. Lovely place to go, would highly recommend.

Called in for lunch last Sunday and could not believe the value for money roast - I had roast pork which was served with Apple sauce and stuffing and a large array of nicely cooked fresh vegetables All was hot and tasty and served by pleasant waiters. My friends had roast beef which was equally good. Nice drinks, spotlessly clean make this the place to visit in Burnham

My family and I have been holidaying for many years. We have always eaten at this establishment and never had a problem here. We first visited the the front parlour under a different name the port hole. We have found the menu to be comprehensive, good value and well presented. Apart from monday (closed) we visited here every day for a meal often sitting in the window downstairs, as both my parents are disabled. We are already planning our visit for 2015 and will be sure to be visiting here again.

My family and I have been going here for many years. We have always received excellent service, but last night my parents came here for a meal. My mother can't eat a lot or spicy food.. She asked the waitress for a plain ham salad. The waitress said they don't do that and made no effort to check with kitchen. My parent left. This I don't think was a difficult request as they were not busy and did have all the items required to do the salad on the menu. I am very dissapointed with the front parlour. My family and I will not be eating here again.

Very nice friendly staff, however, kids menu very limited with mesls mainly festuring chips, and they were not prepared to do an adult meal in a child size portion, which made me think food may not be fresh, thus was confirmed by my dry microwaved lasagne. We had to order an adult portion of spaghetti Bolognese as my daughter doesn't like chips and they even made a point of saying that she couldn't have the ice cream that came with a child's meal, even though we'd paid double the amount of a child's meal, so had to pay extra for her to have ice cream. However, was clean and nice enough inside.

We arrived late on a Saturday evening, and by the time we got our two tired children through the door, the restaurant was closed. Having initially (and apologetically) directed us elsewhere, the lady in charge then called us back from the promenade to say that she would re-open in order to serve us. We then enjoyed some really good home-cooked meals (roast chicken, lasagne etc.), and did not feel rushed despite keeping the staff beyond their usual finishing time. Fantastic hospitality and service, with tasteful decor too. Thank you!

We decided to stop off in Burham on way back from Cornwall and had lunch in The Front Parlour as this would save us eating in a service station. The two course lunch and service was excellent. We have had lunch here a few years ago and the new decor is so much nicer. We will definitely be back!

Went into here for a drink and were greeted by friendly staff. Waitress service in a small cafe like this adds a nice touch, rather than ordering and paying at till. Menu offers varied selection of meals including hot food nod sandwiches. Tea is served in china cups, and sandwiches and cakes can be delivered to your table on china plates ( quintessentially English). It's like having high tea by the seaside. Would definitely go back if we visit the area again.

The Front Parlour serves excellent quality food and has a varied menu of snacks and meals including roast dinners which is served all day long. Waitress service makes a lovely change rather than having to queue up with a tray as in other establishments. Delicious coffee and pots of tea served with bone china tea cups really makes the experience a treat and the delightful decor and a beautiful sea view are and added bonus. Definitely the place to go in Burnham.

Fish and chips on the menu on the website, so drove down because we had it before there and it was good. But not good now because NO fish and chips even it's on the menu. Waist of time and fuel.

Superb atmosphere, the best steak I’ve had in my life! (10oz fillet) chef was so down to earth and welcoming - showed us different cuts of steak and told us about their source. Went above and beyond for service - orders taken quickly and all staff friendly and polite. Felt a very cosy and happy little village pub. Will definitely be back for more steak and the fresh salad bowls that come with it! :) Thank you so much ☺️
