My partner, her brother and sister-in-law, and myself visited on 5 November for a Sunday Roast. What a superb experience! - the food was exceptionally good, the service was very friendly and efficient, and the tables were laid out very nicely. The lovely open fire made the room lovely and cosy. All in all a superb lunch. We are definitely going to return very soon. Sue is a brilliant landlady - she runs this as a really welcoming venue, the locals are very friendly and there is a wonderful atmosphere.

What a lovely pub! Husband used to come here with his parents as a teenager and our daughter asked where he would like to go for father days and he just said The Fox Inn, she called and booked a table which we were lucky to get a short notice on Father’s Day. Arrived, warmly welcomed and then got straight into food! The lady in charge was lovely, so accommodating to our fussy daughter, food was proper home cooked English pub grub! Garden perfect to bring our dog too, desserts were lovely. Thank you, we will definitely be coming back and bringing the grandparents! X

Stopped in here for a spur of the moment lunch. The landlord was really friendly and made us very welcome. Took a couple of drinks into the restaurant and were brought a menu within a minute. Landlady made sure she took our order before the larger group that were just settling in. The menu is mostly typical pub fare, but there was a good choice. The food arrived really quickly and was superb! Good portion sizes, clearly freshly cooked and really tasty. Will go there again.

First visit to this Pub with friends and two dogs and it was an excellent choice. Apart from a very warm welcome from the landlord, there was a fabulous wood burner as you went in which was very welcome on a cold and miserable day. There is a limited but very adequate menu and everything was freshly prepared with much care and attention by Sue, the Landlady. Prices for food are very reasonable too and it is definitely somewhere that we hope to visit again in the future, just wish we were more local!

This is a real old country pub catering for both the locals and passing traffic. We were in the latter category but we still received a friendly welcome and of course very refreshing cider drinks. Car parking is to the rear and we sat out at the front enjoying the good weather. There was even a bowl of water provided for peoples dogs which was a nice touch.

My family and I had been on a day out nearby and were frozen, hungry and tired. Being 5pm on a Sunday, it was tricky to find somewhere to stop to warm up and have a quick pint and a rest. We tried another pub nearby, but were turned away. We then came across The Fox, and thought we'd try them but we expecting to be turned away here as well. What we got was a lovely welcome from a very friendly lady. A lovely wood burning stove and a friendly atmosphere. The bar area was full, but the lady told us we were welcome to sit in the restaurant area. Again - so welcoming. We only stopped for drinks and crisps, but we had a look at the menu, and it was so reasonable! Steak for £10! We ended up staying for much longer than we had planned, and we will definitely be back to try the food another day. Thanks for the welcome.

We were cycling from Cambridge to Bury St Eds and stopped here after visiting the great church at Denham. The proprietors were very friendly, the beer and cider were excellent and the food... was magnificent: we had just starters, of goat's cheese, honey and walnuts on bread, and also plates of charcuterie and vegetarian items: all absolutely delicious, with superb bread. But best of all was the warm welcome and friendly staff: we arrived late, and stayed too long, but they couldn't have been friendlier. The atmosphere was also enjoyable, with a warm snug fire on a cold January day. With books everywhere it felt like a home. This place is definitely somewhere we will go out of our way to visit on future rides.

Tucked away in the suffolk countryside 6 or so miles from Newmarket, this wonderful little pub and restaurant in the village of Ousden and is just what you would imagine and look for to stop for a drink book for a meal. This is a typical village pub with a lively community of customers and a centre for the village in their community activities. There are numerous events and beer festivals that take place. You even often see the odd vintage / classic car parked outside.Incredible selection of real ales and an extensive menu of still ciders. The restaurant is nicely tucked behind the public bar which serves really good food. This is not fine dining but high quality, good portions and delicious. Real coffee too! The prices make this great value for money. To the side of the public bar is a lounge area lined by sofas and cushions. Loads of outside space and huge garden makes this a real family venue. The owners are very welcoming and ensure a personal and friendly service.Definitely worth a visit to a typically traditional Suffolk country pub and restaurant.

Food again excellent (1 x confit of duck on cassoulet (tiny fraction too salty?), 1 x good home made burger and 1 x steak and kidney - the stand-out dish in my opinion). Lovely pint of Bellhaven 6 Nations beer and glass of red. Team was as welcoming as ever, dog spoilt (as ever) and great service as ever. Why only 4 stars? We were sitting down 'bottom' end of dining room where it was a bit chilly - perhaps churlish of me...still, unreservedly recommended.

Sunday afternoon lunch for two. Had read the reviews and they weren't wrong. Beautiful free house country pub in quiet setting with small(ish) but well thought-out menu. Booking was painless, welcome was warm and laid-back efficiency. Chose cassoulet-like slow cooked pork belly (top crackling), sausage and chorizo on bed of haricot beans. Full of flavour and generous portion. Partner had 'sunday lunch' version (the pork, but with veg - well cooked - roasties, apple sauce and jug of gravey) and also delicious. Nice pudding choice too - we had marmalade whisky b&b pudding with home-made vanilla ice cream. Beer was lovely (Milton Brewery - Justinian) and shiraz went well with food and enough tannin to cut it with the unctuous pork. In all, and especially for the price, pretty faultless. Well, what are you waiting for?!

The Fox has been my favourite pub for longer than I can remember. I did not expect it to turn into one of my favourite restaurants. It's an unpretentious sort of place, with delightful, unpretentious sorts of people. Now, it has cooking which meets the most exacting standards. There is a constantly changing menu and each time we've been, the food has been superb. Last time it was home smoked duck and pheasant pate for starters and a bavette de boeuf to die for. And then there is the small but delicately formed wine list - we've had the Minervois and the Vouvray and each was excellent. And the chef makes his own bread; and the plates are hot!Add to all this, friendly and attentive service and what more could one ask? Good beer? Well, there are four real ales and I haven't been disappointed yet.

★★★★★ I visited The Nook during a group cycle ride, and we were warmly welcomed. This place is a gem, offering a great choice of hot and cold food and drinks in lovely surroundings, complete with attractive artwork on the walls. I had the Cornish pasty, which was piping hot, delicious, and generously filled. The fresh and crunchy salad that accompanied it was how I liked it. As someone who enjoys supporting independent businesses, I highly recommend this fabulous coffee shop. It’s a must-visit if you’re heading to the barn next door or looking for a cosy spot with delicious food.

Decided to walk to the nursery from Stanton, and what a lovely day was made out of it! We stopped at the cafe to have lunch, and the food was lovely. Nothing fancy, but was warming and fueling after our walk. The staff were lovely, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We were able to do some crocheting, and ended up staying until close! Would definitely like to come back again!

Genuinely some of the best fish and chips I've had. And SUCH a bargain too! We even had the restaurant area door shut with nice music too. Thank you!!
