A good meal and decent portions

Enjoyable, been a long time since we have visited here we felt very welcomed

Frozen veg beef tough very noisy.. and a nasty manager with a dirty tea towel over his shoulder..

Struggled to walk down to The Fox as I've been unwell but wanted to get out of the house for a bit with my adult son. Got there at 2pm to be told that lunch stops at 2 so they weren't serving. Sign outside said 3. Online said 3. Dead on 2pm closed for food. Wholly disappointing. At least change it online or on the signage if lunch is 12-2.

Very helpful when nan couldn't come on her mobility scooter, so we took Sunday lunch with us. Great price and good selection of meat, roasties and veg/vegan with loads of hot gravy. I think the atmosphere reflects the landlord and his team's warmth, though very busy at the 2pm changeover they all took time to make sure we were catered for. We will come back on a brighter day.

Visited for the first time today as was in the local area. The outside is very welcoming and the staff on arrival were also pleasant. We wanted to have food but noticed no menus on the tables, the website, Facebook has a banner image that says Greene King plus so does the sign post outside, but don't think it's a Greene King anymore, none the less we were seated and a member of staff came over with some menus (website had some 241 offers but these weren't on the menu we were given). The staff were very nice and the atmosphere in the place was warm and relaxed, it had that feel like you were at a restaurant on holiday with the menus being brought out like that , which made me smile. We ordered the cottage pie and beef Lasagne, both came out in a timely manner and were piping hot, the food was lovely to very well cooked these were also quite large portion ls for the price, we would expected to pay more. Had an apple pie for dessert which was very soft and warm, better than dessert I've had from other places near by or in the City centre. We will be visiting again, very nice place, friendly and welcoming staff

Didn't eat so can't comment on food, great venue clean n tidy and the staff friendly and polite.

Went with family for Sunday carvery . Wonderful food Wonderful service Will definitely recommend ! And be back .

Nice pub, service bang on, they do a carvery on sundays that looks amazing, will try it one day.

Came to the fox tonight for a Christmas get together with friends . The Christmas Dinner was absolutely amazing and the price was fantastic personally I think they could charge more for it . The service of the staff was fab , the whole atmosphere of the pub was great . A bonus was the bingo and quiz night . Well done to management and his team 👏 👍 🙌 👌 💪 😀

Unfortunately can only rate this place a 1 star due to the the extreme rudeness of the landlord. He was very toxic towards myself and family so had to leave...luckily we didn't stay long enough to waste our money there. Maybe this guy has some prejudice, or has a chip on his shoulder. Who knows...but a real shame.

Not being before, helpful bar server , one of us had fish chips and mushy peas. The other cheese and ham melt. Both were delicious , fresh and piping hot . Thank you for your hospitality.

This pub really is a little gem! I've been here on a few occasions now, I'm always greeted with a smile and banter from the staff behind the bar, who always go above and beyond to make your visit memorable. The food here is great value for money, we've had the carvery numerous times and it's always delicious and plentiful. Customer wise, it's a very friendly diverse crowd - from after work drinkers to family dinners who will happily interact and make conversation with you. All in all one of the best places to eat and drink in Nottingham

The food at the Fox is amazing, we have been there a few times for a Sunday carvery, and it is beautiful and the staff are lovely.

Saturday 10th December. Extremely distraught experience. I attended this pub with my mum and my gran for the football. A blonde rude lady behind the bar accused my gran of being passive aggressive and the manager came over and screamed in her face for asking for a tint of lime. This was not the case. I guess the workers here have an issue with 3 black ladies. My mum then went to the bar to order a second round but this time only wanted 2 drinks. The bar man made 3 drinks and my mum politely stated she only ordered 2. He then shouted and said get out. What was their reason. We weren’t disrespectful or rude. They were. We didn’t react or shout or raved. This was nothing but a racist target. We’ve attended this pub so many times. Today was astonishing

Sunday lunch A piping hot Sunday lunch with beef, turkey, pork, yorky puds and all the trimmings. Best one I’ve had. Definitely recommend.

Great food, quick service and great price! Had the ale pie, kids pizza, lasagna, and nachos. Solid effort would definately recommend, and will attend again over the next 7 days of our stay!!

First time I have been for a caravery at the fox, and it was so nice, could not fault it, one of the best carverys I have had, and all the staff were lovely made you very welcome.Second time now that I have been for a caravery at the fox and what can I say it was absolutely beautiful and the staff are brilliant.

Just the right place after a busy day

Why would even serve people? We come in ....very rude lady at the bar. Not even allowed to eat outside in garden or around pool area. What's the point of all free space!!! We do not appreciate the attitude or be coming there ever again. Lucky we got lovely Nuthall pub not far and made our evening !!!!

Not usually a fan of Pub grub establishments but this one is OK and quite enjoy popping in for a few pints, catch up with old friends and maybe watch some sports, nice mix of customers and ample outside seating areas and plenty of parking, friends say the meals are pretty good value, so all round its a good family Pub

Went in for a funeral wake 06/04/2022. Only went there as family recommended the pub. I got engaged there years ago and had a party. Great owners them days... Heard good reviews about it so went with the flow of recommendations. What idiots we were. The landlord does not know what fun is. Yes swearing out of order but for two cousins enjoying themselves to be threatened by the landlord when nothing ‘really’ untowards happened and for him to rebuke parents with nastiness is beyond belief….. please think again before having a wake or celebration at the fox pub, Valley Rd in case of a minor incident. Landlord ‘must have been on a ‘mmenstral’… Lest be said for he was rude in the process. Think about the money that was spent in his pub with the amount of family that was there from 2:30 - 6pm. No appreciation and he spoilt what was a sad celebration……… well done landlord of the Fox, Valley Road, Basford, Nottingham…. I certainly won’t be recommending the pub……

Clean, accommodating staff for my father who couldn't walk very well. Great service, lovely staff who have the perfect balance of communication. They will engage you in conversation if you want or leave you alone if you want.

Visited for evening meal. 8 of us and only booked an hour before. Pub was friendly and staff attentive. A bit too long of a wait for the food ordered but when it arrived it was good quality and reasonably priced. Maybe there was a staff shortage responsible. Not from the area so unlikely to visit again but only because of that reason.

Just passed from a weekend away the service and landlord absolutely fabulous. My husband and myself have booked a sunday lunch next week as the carvery looked amazing. Cleanliness and welcome was so refreshing cant wait to visit again and hopefully make it our new local. Thankyou for a welcome relaxed time

This review does not even deserve a 1 star. I was having a quiet drink, when the manager Shaun, shouted at a member of staff "Anya, get here now" This was outside, infront of customer who"s heads also turned. I then went inside and asked him if he was the manager. When I said to him that I didnt like the way he spoke to a member of staff in front of customers, he shook his finger at me, and replied "if you don't like it, then don't drink in my pub. And don't tell me how to run my business" I didnt reply, and walked out. I was shocked how he spoke to me and felt sorry for the staff that work with him. Values and behaviours are important in a workplace and this should not be tolerated.

Great landlords, friendly staff. Sunday roasts always nice and plentiful. Follows strict Covid rules, hand sanitizer, social distancing track and trace. Other pubs in the area are a little to relaxed about Covid and several have had staff and or customers testing positive for Covid and had to be closed down for a while. Keep up the great work 👍 Exceptional place, well done to the staff and management 👏
