Busy place and very welcoming. When ordering food we were told there would be a wait as 3x big party tables had just arrived and ordered food, served quickly and beer/cider was great. We did have a while waiting for food but waitresses was doing a great job entertaining our dog with treats and offering us a free drink as an apology for the wait. When food arrived it was definitely worth the waiting! Best pork belly I have tasted, plentiful and well presented! the burger my partner had was like eating a steak, absolutely delicious! Will be coming again next time we are in the area.

We came during Grassington’s Christmas market & everywhere was so busy, especially as it was raining hard. Good choice of well kept beers. Menu dull so we just shared a fish n chips between us. But the fish was perfectly cooked - lightly coated in batter & not fried into oblivion as is often the case. Quickly served too. Bar staff efficient but not overly charming. They’d staffed up ready for the busy day so despite it being packed they coped well

A very traditional and local pub in a quaint village. We visited here for our tea one night, as we were staying in a lodge nearby. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Not a modern/chain style pub, but very traditional and full of friendly local people and we liked this aspect. They had a lovely open fire going whilst we were there. Had a good variety of food options for different dietary requirements. My partner is vegan and there were good options for him. Our food was served pretty quickly and was very good quality, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Very reasonably priced too. A very welcoming atmosphere, would definitely be a regular if we were local! Definitely recommend a visit

We watched cricket and football at The Foresters before our meal and it’s a lovely exuberant pub. Walk over the other part of the bar and you have a cosy restaurant with the best food I’ve had in a long time. Huge specials board with lots of gluten free options for me and fish dishes for the other half. I had the belly pork with dauphinois potatoes and it was truly delicious. Other half had the fish pie which was creamy and stuffed with fish. Sticky toffee pudding and custard finished. Absolutely superb. Compliments to the chef, fabulous food

this is without doubt the dirtiest place i have ever encountered ! we booked a stay for one night as its on the coast to coast route. the floor in the bar as soon as we walked in set alarm bells ringing. we were given the key went to the room on the thread bear filthy stair carpet and when we got to the room that carpet was no better. it was so dirty that we wore shoes to go to the toilet during the night. the bathroom was mouldy in the shower and the carpet was rotten and again black where the shower has leaked. it was so bad and disgustingly dirty that we spent the afternoon trying to find another hotel / pub to put us up. unfortunately they were all full (believe me we tried every other place there was) . the only thing that was a plus was that the bedding was clean but looking at the rest of the place you could not stop thinking/wondering about what was under said bedding ?? didnt dare look TBH. we were a group of 10 that all agreed if thats what the rooms are like what will the kitchen be like and decided to eat across the road in the devonshire arms. they kindly let us put our bikes in the back yard for safety overnight which was also in a disgusting filthy state for a pub/hotel if you dont mind filth then you will be ok otherwise my advice would be to give this place a massive swerve.

We spent a great afternoon here watching football and then later we enjoyed a beautiful meal. We've been here a couple of years ago for drinks only and we were determined to try the food when next in Grassington. My husband loved his fish and chips and my mushroom risotto exceeded all expectations. I loved the crispy fried onion garnish. It's a really friendly local pub where you feel immediately at home. We look forward to another visit in the future

Great welcome from Staff after a phone call the previous day to make sure we were coming as we had just been put into tier 2!!!! The decor could do with updating but having said that the whole place was extremely clean. The room was at the top of the building accessed by some narrow stairs. A lovely large room and bathroom which was very clean and had all the basic requirements. We had a meal in the pub on our first night which was tasty and very well cooked. The same could be said for the breakfasts which had a selection of cereals a lovely cooked selection and toast with seconds if required. The plates were actually hot, a nice change from lukewarm offerings. The open fire and copper topped tables (cleaned daily) were a homely touch in the pub.

On arrival I explained I had booked in. The older of the two waitresses said I couldn’t have done as she didn’t have me down. Then she asked what day I had booked and said I couldn’t have done as she was working that day. We were kept waiting while she rang someone for not obvious reasons to explain. It was only that I overheard her saying about rooms that I realised she had assumed we were booked in for accommodation rather than food. When I explained she didn’t apologise but just said we were in the dining room which she didn’t tell us where that was. I understand folks are tense right now with COVID restrictions but it all felt rather hostile. The younger waitress who seemed all a bit flustered showed us to a rather sad looking restaurant which included a table with my name on! We were given a more limited menu than you appeared able to get in the main bar where folks were eating pizzas. We were then left waiting for quite some time without anyone taking a drink or good order - I even joked with the folks on the next table as to whether they could cook as it looked like we weren’t going to get served! The sad thing is that the food was excellent, as was the beer but the service apart from the younger waitress who really tried, did rather take the shine off it. The woman who had been rude on entry almost purposefully ignored us for the rest of the evening. So if the management want my view, the younger waitress is great, the more mature one needs some training!

Spent a few days in Grassington enjoying the last of the Indian summer sun. A limited 40's themed weekend was going on at the time which added even more character to this delightful village,.Beer and sun was good but COVID-19 precautions were lacking. Sign-in book was available and the landlord enforced it but despite a notice saying table service only, service required a visit to the bar. This would have been fine except that the path to the bar was lined by locals chatting to the landlord. It was like passing through a guard of honour to get to the bar! Why the landlord couldn't have told the people cluttering up the entrance nursing their pints to to a more appropriate place is a mystery. The football on TV was popular but the rule of six was also sadly lacking.Pubs will be the first to whinge when they get closed down but this is an example of why they will.

Quite a bad experience....for sure the staff are friendly but the food is by far the worst of the pubs/ restaurants in Grassington (and I did eat in all of them). The COVID precautions were poor -unlike other places in the village the staff were not wearing visors or facemasks and the seating was such that a couple were sat at almost shoulder rubbing distance away from us even though other tables were available. The lady at the table seemed to have a persistent dry cough. Of all the places I have been to in the past month this seemed to be the one where I am most likely to have cought the virus. Then there is the small issue of the food quality and service. I waited 1 hour 10 mins for food to arrive. Only after I had placed the order and got a drink was I told there would be a wait for food even though I had said I was there to eat when i first walked in. I ordered a special, rump steak, and was asked how I liked it done. I said medium rare. Maybe they needed enough time to catch a cow on the moors and butcher it as steak only takes a few mins to fry. When the plate turned up it was not a rump steak at all but one of the cheap thin £2 beefsteaks you can get in the supermarket. And it was cooked well done throughout. The chips were not good either. What a rip off !

We recently stayed here for two nights in December for the Christmas Market. Firstly I need to comment that most of the reviews on Trip Advisor mainly refer to the pub itself and not the accommodation above it. Pro'sPub - generally clean, friendly atmosphere, food reasonably good. Nice cooked breakfast (see later comments). My husband did order Yorkshire Puddings as a starter and received two small Aunt Bessie style Yorkshire puddings in a bowl of gravy costing £4.95. Room - Reasonably comfy bed and very hot water (although I didn't use the bath).Con'sRoom - Very dated decor from 80's/90'sDirty grubby carpets in bedroom and hall with lots of stains.Mould on walls.Well established cobwebs.Dirty skirting boards in bathroom, dirty bath panel and washbasin pedestal.Dirty lampshades.Rickety bedroom furniture.Mould on bath seal. Breakfast on the first morning was lovely although the dining room could have done with a good clean. Second morning we were served by a younger waitress. I ordered poached eggs and literally got two eggs. I waited for our toast rack but ended up eating the eggs on their own. When we and some other guests (there were a max of 9 diners in the dining room) queried where our toast was we were told 'I've only got one pair of hands'. It was a frosty cold morning and the heating wasn't on when we entered the dining room so it was cold and the windows were draughty. When we checked out the Receptionist didn't even bother to ask if we had enjoyed our stay. Would I stay here again? Definitely not!

A great independent pub in the village. We visited several time whist staying with friends for the weekend. Great place, nice to see a pub that hasn't had corporate makeover. All staff were friendly and open fire was welcoming on a cold weekend. We had lunch one day just bar meals but tasty and we'll presented. Also went to band night on the Saturday, pub was packed, band excellent playing rock. Will visit in summer.

Set in the centre of Grassington you will come across The Foresters Arms.We went during the Christmas Market weekend, so you can imagine how busy it was. However, it is run by a very proficient team, who looked after everyone very well.We only had drinks, but the food looked good! Although it was literally subzero temperatures we sat outside on the front, as it was south facing and we managed to get some glorious sunshine!Definitely worth a visit.

We were staying in the village for the Dickensian weekend & had called in earlier in the day to book a table. When we arrived our booking had been made for the following week, however, we were quickly seated & our orders taken. It was a very busy evening but our food came without too long a wait. The food was most acceptable & the owners apologetic about the mix up

We went to the Foresters for food and drinks, finding a cosy table by the window and fire at 6 p.m. Staff took our food order but then at 6.20 a lady I took to be the manageress stuck a reservation sign on our table. I thought this would be for someone arriving later in the evening after we left but not apparently so ...at 6.30 we were told our food was in the dining area and we HAD to move. To be honest we should have walked out then. The dining area turned out wasn't very pleasant. Obviously we didn't then want to stay to have any further drinks either. Shocked beyond belief as we walked out to see the 'reservation' people were clearly mates of the manageress who had stuck the sign on our table and had thrown us off to give the table to them. I have never been so insulted in a pub. This is disgusting and disgraceful behaviour. I felt extremely upset....is this Yorkshire hospitality? It ruined my stay in Grassington.

Entered the Foresters at 6pm and brought drinks and found a nice table in the window by the fire, and was soon joined by another couple on the opposite table. 6.10pm I went to the bar to order food and was told by the barmaid she would come over and take our order. All fine until 6.20pm as a elderly woman, I take to be manager came over and plonked two reserved signs on both tables and said there were booked for 6.30pm. She then came back a said our food was ready in the dining area, even thou there were other people eating at surrounding tables. We were marched to a cold shabby run down area from the 1960’s and our food as miserable as well, upon leaving we couldn’t help notice the manager chatting happily to her friends in the very seats we were rudely evicted from. I feel this is disgustingly rude behavior and the pub should really be a private members club if the manager wishes only to be civil to people she knows.

Good food here - great selection of drink on tap and food delicious. Steak sandwich particularly nice. Menu has little variety however and the place feels trapped in the 1970s - not very nice inside at all. Food very good, staff good, but inside and the decour really lets it down.

We had dinner here on Saturday night. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts who were lovely. Food was really tasty and fresh. The pork belly was very enjoyable and the chicken was moist and beautifully cooked. The pub was bustling and a great atmosphere. Really enjoyed our meal here.

We are staying in Grassington with our family for a special birthday. We had a table booked at The Black Horse but after being served disgusting cold Sunday roast, we sent it back and left. We walked to other establishments in the village but alas no one could accommodate seven and a dog. We stumbled upon The Foresters. Not my normal choice of pub, but how wrong you can be. The landlord was very welcoming and allowed us to push some small bar tables together and the landlady brought the menus and was super polite. We all had Sunday roast. It arrived piping hot plenty of beef. Delicious home made Yorkies and bowls of veg. Absolutely delicious, nothing too much trouble. You saved the day. Thank you

We visited recently for drinks and thought about stopping in one night for food. The man behind the bar (i believe the owner) came across as fairly rude and uninterested in visiting customers and would rather chat with locals. It was as if we were an inconvenience. Needless to say, we didn't go back for food.

Most unwelcoming and unfriendly bar I've ever been in (and I live in manchester). The manager/owner was offended as that we weren't staying there overnight and refused to serve us a drink because of that fact and only that fact. He was only interested in serving himself and his three mates (locals), and proving a point that if you dare to book accommodation somewhere else in the village, you better stay there, because you're not welcome at the foresters. Working man's (locals only) drinking hole.

Let’s get things straight right from the start, this is a pub, a proper pub, not some plastic face lifted facsimile of pub. Admittedly it’s not fancy but it’s all the better for it. The beer, Black Sheep, Timothy Taylor’s or Tetley is fantastic and the food is great value good honest pub grub. My steak and Ale pie was great served with chips lots of fresh veg and loads of lovely rich meaty gravy just the thing after a days walking the dales.

We are staying in Grassington visiting friends and family, we have been in for 3 meals so far this week and each time the food has been excellent and the staff are so friendly and attentive, really varied choice on the menu which caters for all tastes, would definitely recommend a visit, we’ve not been disappointed. Good traditional pub which caters for all ages. Staff were great with our 6 year old and nothing was too much trouble. Will be back again next year!

We have eaten in this pub a couple of times before and have been impressed with the gluten free options available for myself as a Coeliac. However our latest visit went from bad to worse. Firstly when asking for a table we would be told there was to be a 40 minute wait for food which we agreed to wait for given our previous experiences. Unfortunately it was over an hour and a half before the food did arrive. When the dishes did arrive, as always I doubled checked that my order would be 100% gluten free, to which the waitress said no the chips might not be and a fresh batch was to be made with clean oil. We patiently waited longer for a fresh batch to be made only for when my Girlfriend opened up her ‘very well done steak’ to be pink and bloody inside - again back it went and another 15 minutes wait. After the food we ordered puddings - the ‘gluten free’ sticky toffee pudding. After double checking with two different waitresses (One who took the order and one who brought the food out) I was given the green light that it was definitely Gluten Free. Unfortunately it was not and given the severe reaction I have to Gluten it was a horrific 24 hours which ruined my Birthday weekend away. After informing the management they did refund the meal and offered an apology however given the circumstances I will not be returning.

Made to feel very welcome as soon as arrived by the Landlord .As we were doing the Way of the Roses, had to store our bikes round the back. The yard could do with a good tidy up( although you might stand a better chance with dynamite) ,but was secure enough. accommodation could do with the a good spruce up. very tired in places and carpet had been well walked upon along the stairwell. our room was very hot, so had to close the curtains to cool it down a bit. This was hampered a lot when we discovered that we had the hot water pipe flowing through our room. It was still hot when we went to bed.
