Food and drinks are pricey, but the quality makes it worth it

Very good for an occasional visit.

Visited lunchtime Sat 23rd January. Three adults and our dog. Great food and great service. The chocolate and orange torte was the best desert ever. Major compliments to the chef. Dog got lots of fusses too. Great experience.

We went in around 3pm on 24.01.25 - I am not sure of the names of the staff working (am sure you can find out) but what a great pair of team members you have! So friendly and actually appeared to enjoy their jobs. Was a refreshing change to find people like that. We had chicken goujons, cheese chilli nuggets, ham croquettes (💕) , bacon & cheese burger, blue cheese burger and scampi & chips. Portions were big and plentiful, came quickly, was hot and just a really nice experience. Would DEFINITELY go back if in the area again.

Food is always great, and the service is spot on! Can't praise the staff highly enough 😊

No first choice available, but our second choice was well prepared and presented. Great service. Got to drop a star after bar staff were very rude to colleagues.

Service in the fleet is amazing and the staff are happy and familiar faces. Charley really knows the bar well and can recommend some great drinks. The food is delicious and the chefs are really well abled and happy to adapt meals and follow allergen requests! 10/10

Came in for lunch last week and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very knowledgeable of the menus and were able to cater to my dietary requirements as I’m celiac this is very important to me. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed my visit.

Pop world is great for a night out, plays old school bangers which also plays the old cheasy classic.great for a good old sing along

A Flavor Explosion Worth Every Penny! If you're looking for a meal that delivers a little bit of everything-then The Fleet is your spot! I kicked off my feast with the Build Your Board and I must say, customizing it was a game-changer. The spicy waffle chicken goujons with ketchup, and loaded nachos (with just the right amount of jalapeños) had me hooked from the first bite. At £11.99, I was basically living my best foodie life! The Spanish ham croquettes? Soft, golden, and utterly tasty-like little bites of heaven. As for the spicy chicken burger, it didn't pack the heat I was expecting, but the flavor was on point, especially paired with crispy chips and a free drink to wash it all down. Oh, and let's not forget the crazy chicken bacon burger, which was as tasty as it sounds, proving once again that bacon makes everything better. From top to bottom, every dish was a crowd-pleaser. For variety, flavor, and all the right kinds of indulgence The Fleet has earned a loyal fan in me!

Good staff, good food, and a good pint, what's not to like 😉, got good sized back areas also pool table, not the best condition but a pool table all the same lol

Great venue with an unbelievably friendly staff which made me feel at home. Charley was a great help behind the bar, very chatty and friendly! Knew her stuff with the deals and whats good to drink as I aint much of a drinker. The food was also top tier! I'd suggest you to also visit!

most of the team, exclusively the door staff, ‘Mike and adam’ were extremely helpful when we went to them for an incident that had happened inside the establishment. they immediately responded to the situation and made sure our group felt safe while moving on to the next location. they are the reason we come back here because we feel safe with them here knowing they really care for the guests in this pub. we are all very thankful for your help :)

Popped in here for the first time in many years having moved away. Have to say it's really not the same as it used to be but is still okay. It's a heck of a lot more expensive too, three pints cost nearly £17! Service is as friendly as it always was and there's lots of comfy seats and booths around, as well as a pool table. Not sure I'd return in a hurry because of the price, but it's still a decent place for a drink.

Work lunch venue. Staff are friendly and range of drinks is ok. If you drink real ale there is a loyalty card that gets you a free drink after 8 paid for ones

Visited for drinks and food before watching the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at the Guildhall. It exceeded my expectations, particularly the food. I had a 10oz steak, which was a decent hunk of meat, cooked perfectly (medium rare). Would definitely visit again.

Karaoke here is so biased, the guy hates you if you go up more than once even if the place is dead

If management could check regularly that the hands and fingernails of their staff are clean it would be appropriate. It's been gross to watch the preparation of the cocktails I've ordered by a young lady at the bar. The fingers and nails looked filthy also using measures for fizzy mixers aswell inappropriate. Place has an unpleasant smell. Not coming back. Thankfully I didn't order food.

Karaoke Monday: Got yelled at by the guy for going too many times when I’d only been up twice prior and lots of other groups had gone up many times before

First visit this month and definitely will be returning! Came for drinks with friends while in the area and not only is it affordable and with a good atmosphere, the bar staff are welcoming and friendly. I was served by Charley who provided amazing customer service with a smile on her face. Would recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

Menu has changed which seems have little left for options/choices of what to have. The Latin parties are amazing !!

Came for lunch with my family and was very happy with the experience. Very children friendly with great menu options. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and very aware of dietary requirements.

Enjoy coming here but seems a bit naughty to massively increase the prices for an England game which is what the staff said head office told them to do - nearly £7 for a pint. Reason being to cover the increase in glass collecting however you are serving in plastic cups!

Great time at the Tuesday quiz! I come along most weeks and the service is always amazing (Taz is a superstar), food is great and quiz is great fun!

Fantastic bar with friendly staff

We booked a table for six for 5pm as there was a big event at the Guildhall. It became apparent that the kitchen was unable to cope with orders when we were told a 40 minute wait. We then overheard people at the next table would have to wait an hour. Our meals started to trickle through but the last meal didn’t appear and eventually a person came to the table to say they had run out of my choice but didn’t offer an alternative. She had the cash in her hand to just hand over to refund me. People at a neighbouring table were still waiting when we left and eventually asked for their money back. Why take orders when you clearly could not cope with the demand.

Barman called Dillon was on. Made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in. 10/10 for him

Situated just off the main street. Sold out of Mixed Grill so my colleague and I each had 10oz Rump Steak with all the trimmings. Was served up in quick time, The steaks were spot on and cooked to what we ordered. A very good meal for a reasonable price. The beers were also well kept, no complaints there. The staff were friendly and efficient.. The toilets were clean enough and the beer garden was tidy. Being a Tuesday night, it was quiz night which was very well attended, a good night overall. Unfortunately the pub emptied out straight after and the atmosphere fell a little flat. Would recommend a visit.

Fantastic service clean friendly staff always polite the food is fantastic and value for money as a family of six we definitely recommend it Charley has served us numerous times and she is so kind very welcoming always attentive I would highly recommend this place

Myself and my daughter had a brilliant time here. Fast, efficient & friendly service and brilliant food - we both had scampi and chips. Charley was particularly fantastic, always going the extra mile, above and beyond! The definition of service with a smile. Cannot recommend enough ! Menu looked OK but despite advertising real ale everyone was off! Went across the road to Weatherspoons.

Our first visit since Feb 2020 after this awful Covid situation. So pleased to still see it roomy and friendly.Some shining stars in the table and bar service. Security friendly after reminding us that kids not after nine pm. All good. Good food for kids and adults all good.. First time back with kids. Staff super busy but super helpful. Great service. Food was good. Update. Visit with three kids. Staff OK but not really engaged. Ordered some chips and asked for the kids colouring set. Something to keep them entertained. Apparently this has stopped. OK not a big deal. But we had to go because the kids were getting bored. This review is given with the acknowledgement it is tough for business out there. Great service on Christmas Eve. Especially by a gentleman who maybe is hard of hearing. Couldn't do enough for the kids with table service and completely understanding the challenges of four kids.

Only had drinks on Saturday night. Bar man needs to learn common sense and courtesy which he lacked in abundance As an older couple we were shocked by his manner . If this what you teach your staff I would tell others to avoid and get quality service elsewhere.

Whenever I come to Portsmouth, my favourite pub to go to is the fleet! They have so much to choose from so if you’re ever unsure of what to order, just ask the bar team what to order as they’re all so friendly! Taz in particular is always a delight☺️ 10/10 venue for atmosphere, drinks and food!

First time here visiting during my weekend away, and definitely will be back, thanks Tazz for making me feel so welcome! A credit to the team :)

Surly security bloke said my dog not welcome in a dog friendly pub even though we been there since midday and all serving staff made a fuss of him!! Won't be returning again or my family of 12+every month as we did WAS a Great pub , great staff and great prices

Had the lasagne for lunch. Quite bland and it was tiny! Served in a 6in diameter dish, it filled about half of it. Disappointing.

Had an incredible sever called Taz who was friendly, fun and very helpful. Really enjoyed the live music on Friday and the variety of drink options available here.

Had a fantastic time with my colleagues. Had some dinner and many drinks which was extremely affordable. Taz recommended the sharing board which was absolutely delicious which we thoroughly enjoyed. They also had a great wine selection which we also indulged in.

My first time of being in tthis pub called "The Fleet" and was there due to an ex work colleagues retirement get together. It was a packed place as the Scotland V England Six Nations match was on as well. The atmosphere was noisey to say the least,but good. My friends and I didn't have any food but the constant flow of cooked food from the menu looked good and smelt good as well as it was coming from the kitchen past us through to the customers that had ordered it😋😋. "The Fleet" was obviously a very popular venue in the centre of Portsmouth town centre and easy to get to as we found out as I was the driver taking myself and three friends to this get together from another part of Hampshire. And a great time was had by all.😊👍

A great pub. Very spacious with a nice outside area. Staff very pleasant and efficient. We had dinner here which was excellent value with live music always welcome. However only had one Ale on draught which was John Smiths. No real ales or bottled ale on offer which is a shame.

We visited 30 th Jan 2024.we had a lovely meal.food order was great didn't wait to long.staff was nice and friendly. Place was clean and tidy.the plates are warm so it keeps your meal hot while eating.i had a rump steak and my partner had fish and chips.

Came in last week, and I would like to premise this by saying the staff were cover from another site, but the food was lovely and the staff that served us were very friendly and polite, unfortunately food took a long time to come out, I’d put this down to the chefs hi knowing what they’re doing, but when it arrived it was amazing and we all enjoyed it, special thanks to the manager who was helpful through out and the gentleman who covered from the dockyard

We were absolute drunk menaces and Charley was an absolute angel and served us so well all night, lovely atmosphere here! 1 star for food only because we didn't have any!!

Always come here with my partner and the bartender with blonde hair and glasses who we tipped was kind and cheery thoughtful of our children bringing them over items which we didn’t even think of - which is definitely different from anyone else anywhere else we have been. We will continue to come here as we have been doing two years in a row . Recommend to families and people who just want to have fun.

Pay extra for extras in burger 99p for 6 small mushrooms in my burger. Christmas menu and you barley have any of the products. Staff that confuse customers when listing menu items they do not have. Very limited menu considering its 2 days til Christmas and people don't want to cook.

3 bean burger TOPPED with nachos!!!! The picture speaks for itself; I think I counted 3 beans 😂 struggled to find the nachos!

Food is standard pub quality, but great options that aren't necessarily what you'd expect. All the employees are friendly and helpful, and there's a nice friendly atmosphere. When they're struggling to get staff in, food can take a while, but that's also pretty standard. One of my favourite haunts.
