Pop in end of November mega impressed £14 for a 1 massive portion of cod and chips what stuffed me and my girlfriend well. Totally fresh lovely fish and super crispy batter and really nice chips. Definitely recommend

We stopped in for some chips as we needed a snack. Definitely worth a visit. We didn’t try anything else but there are some benches at the harbour to enjoy eating your chippy on your travels.

One the best places in Cornwall to get fish and chips. Always super fresh fish and delicious chips.

Squeezed us in at a few minutes to 8pm this evening. Hugely appreciative and amazing cod & chips. Perfect portion size. Thank you!

Called in on a very wet evening with my daughter to be greeted by a lovely chatty fella. I had fish bites and chips which were perfectly cooked and very tasty. They do home made tarter sauce which is absolutely delicious. We'll done sir

Cod bites are great value. We had 5 pieces to share between 2 and a dog for a lunchtime snack!

We visited on the 7th of October 2024 with a party of 11 at 6.45 only to be told by the chap inside they were closed due to no customers due to the rain, we visited the next day 8th at 12.40 pm only to see a note on the door saying closed until 4pm, and businesses wonder why people are giving Cornwall a miss, terrible way to run a business.

Just the best fish n chips. Battered cod was huge, great batter and flaky fish! Perfect. Great value too!

I left a review earlier in the year when me and my younger daughter had the best fish and chips ever. I visited again last week with my older daughter. We had deep fried battered haloumi and chips. Again, absolutely amazing, we both loved it. It is without doubt the tastiest, lightest, crispiest batter I have ever had. Can't wait to come back again in February. 😀

Reading the previous reviews it seems that sometimes you can hit a bad day here, but I can only speak as I find - and we had excellent cod and haddock with crisp batter and good chips (too many!) Enjoyed eating them by the harbour and watching the early evening high tide.

Lovely friendly staff and the best fish and chips we have ever tasted! The batter was crispy and delicious and so were the chips. The three of us all agreed we’d never tasted better, would highly recommend.

Staying in the area and for our last night we wanted fish and chips by the sea. Bit of research pointed us to the Fishermans Chippy. Love the narrow streets of Mevagissey and the chippy is easy to find. Doesnt have an eat in option, you order from one window and then collect from the shop. Had a little wait as they were busy and had a backlog of orders, which on the plus side meant it had all been cooked fresh. Good size portion of cod and chips, was a little disappointed with the cod as I didnt feel it had much flavour - but thats just me. Was great to sit at the harbour and have our dinner. Mind the seagulls though, who also fancied fish and chips.

Fish was fresh and tasty, batter was crispy and golden and chips were the best I've had in a long while, fully recommend their homemade tartar sauce.

Very good. Traditional chippy, takeaway only. Order at first window and collect inside. Fairly rapid service of very rresh fish & chips. Eat at harbour and return your litter to the shop. Recommended

Fantastic quality cod, large cod was massive and tasted amazing.

The best Haddock, Chips & Peas we had had in a while. It was simply 10/10. Cooked to order fish, great value considering some places in Cornwall and eaten in the car by the harbour in a storm was memorable. Cornwall is home to many 5 star F&C shops, this is 5 star plus.

Really disappointed, had fish and chips many times in the past and always been the best. Went at 8pm so not too late, reheated chips, really dry with no taste and old oil . Fish reheated, we left most of it. Won’t be going again. Real shame.

So glad we popped in. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Just one point salt on my children’s meals made it nearly incredible. However our fish was the thickest piece I’ve ever had. Soft flaky and piping hot.

This place is a straight up excellent fish and chips takeaway with good portions, fair pricing and all well cooked. Can't really comment on the atmosphere as its basically a shed but it's fast, to the point and fantastic. Very highly recommended!

I had high hopes for this one but fish and chips were very greasy as the fish was not allowed time to drain after cooking.

Half eight run ashore - “it’s so rare to see plaice on the menu!” Excited husband! Beautifully cooked, massive plaice and chips, perfect for eating on the harbour side and lovely service too!

£15 for large fish and chips , 25 minute wait only to find out the only thing large on the fish was how thick the batter was , amazed it cooked in 450 degrees oil with batter that thick . Then the chips weren’t cooked properly and were hard , 6 people serving and couldn’t put salt and vinegar on either ; had to ask 3 times to look where he was putting it , they realised it was poor service as they gave us a free drink ; but £35 in total not inc 3 tomato sauce and a tarter sauce extra £3.20 for 4 sachets ( which was mayo), I’d expect fresh tasty fish and not scrag end rock hard anorexic chips ; I would have taken then back and asked for a refund but the oldest person on the shop was barely out of school .. very very poor and be ware , if you like f and c , don’t go … awful

Queuing system is a little awkward due to lack of space, but the food and service make up for it

Fish was cooked freshly for us and service was speedy - loved having the option of a smaller portion of fish and chips, as well as battered halloumi. We loved it here and would definitely recommend!

One of our favourite chip shops in Cornwall. The chips, pea fritters and curry sauce are excellent ( I don't eat fish so I can't comment on that) hubby tells the battered sausages are to die for :) just a really good chip shop that we always visit if we are in the area and not overpriced either.

Best fish and chips! Batter is dairy free and they cook in veg oil which is perfect for our family. Thanks for another delicious supper, we love this place! Hint, on an evening, take your fish and chips around to the right hand side of the harbor as you look out to sea, keep walking past the aquarium and then you’ll find lovely picnic benches to sit on (these belong to the coffee / ice cream truck , but you can use them once it has closed for the day)

Honestly the best chippy chips I've ever had in my life. And whatever wizard dreamed up the pea fritter is a genius. I'm actually sad now that all the other chippies I go to in future won't be as good as this one.

Best fish and chips I've had in a while

Used to be good , but not tonight, chips were awful, they looked like they had been sat there all afternoon in oil that hadn't been changed in an age, I've never seen a chip look so tired and unappealing, needless to say I will be taking my devices around the corner now to the newly opened chippy, do not get your chips here unless you have no choice

This is always our go to takeaway when staying near by. In the past it’s been delicious but sadly this visit was underwhelming. The cod was huge, but batter was thick and there was a very oily layer at the bottom of the wrapping. After having such lovely fish and chips before (last visit being July 2023), it was a shame. I ate most of the fish but scrapped off the batter. We were going to come again later in the week but won’t be doing so now.

Stopped by for fish and chips on the way home from a day out. We both had mini cod and chips. The cod in batter was the BEST I have ever had...and I'm nearly 70. Beautifully cooked cod, light and flaky, not chewy like cod can be. The batter was light, crispy and tasty. 👍

The fish was cooked perfectly, beautifully flaky and not chewy like cod can be if it isn't cooked properly and the batter was light, crispy and tasty. I rarely eat all my fish but ate every bit and could have eaten it again. Can't wait to go back. 😁👍👍👍

I have visited this chip shop many times over the years and the food is always excellent. I love their pea fritters, which are the best I've ever had and my husband loves their fish and chips. They are good size portions and the food is always hot and reasonably priced. The food is cooked as you order it. I can't recommend this chip shop enough. The staff are always friendly and polite.

Awful, reheated chips. To be fair it was 8.45 and they close at 9pm but would have preferred if they’d said we’re closing and none available. Not sure the seagulls even enjoyed them. Waste of money.

The best fish and chips ever! The small portion is definitely enough for a normal appetite. Staff are lovely and friendly and despite a freezing afternoon we enjoyed delicious food on the pier ( hiding from the gulls!)

Lovely fresh cooked to order fish and chips, with actual chips not fries. We had a large and medium chips, both were pretty hefty. The service was great. You order from the little side window and collect your food round the corner. The staff were friendly.

First review I’ve ever left of a chip shop, because this shop reminded us of how special a simple pleasure can be. Perfectly cooked chips, freshly sourced amazing fish, tasty homemade condiments and lovely staff. I don’t think we will have a fish and chip experience that comes close for years, or until we come back :)

Right near the harbour, childrens portions as well. Very good quality, cooked to order. Look out for the seagulls, they watch you walk away.

We had previously got fish and chips in looe . Last year my car smelt awful for days. This year desperate for fish and chips we tried these Guys. Well we visited 3 times I had plaice and my wife had cod. We sat in the car overlooking the harbour 3 times no after smell in the car. Fabulous food fabulous quality fresh to order and great people looking after you. Thank you see you next year 5 star

Best fish and chips we've had this holiday. Lovely fresh cod, crispy batter and lovely hand cut chips. Big portions too! Nowhere to sit but as it's on the harbour, there are lots of benches, just watch out for thieving seagulls.

You know it's good when you don't normally leave reviews but this was too good not to. I live in Cornwall and have been to a lot of fish and chips places but this is up there with the best- fresh fish and great chips. But what really makes it is these are genuinely good and friendly people. You're not just having great fish and chips but you're supporting good people and a great local business! Highly recommend it.

Best chippy anywhere ever! Great food, lovely staff, perfect location and a homemade tartar sauce. You won't get better than this! So much so, we've nicknamed the place Mevachippy. They also do a battered halloumi which is spot on for a non fish eating, halloumi lover!

The cod and chips were just the best, could not have been fresher, friendly cheerful staff. Buy your fish and chips and sit on a bench overlooking the harbour, great.

Absolutely excellent. We were in Mevagissey for the week and enjoyed the wonderful food from this chip shop. I had the best pea fritters I've had, they were excellent value for money. My husband enjoyed the generous sized fish and we all enjoyed the crispy chips. Everything is reasonably priced. There is a queuing system where you order at the side window where you give your name and then move round to the collection point. We only had to wait about five minutes and could enjoy the view of the glorious harbour. The staff are very friendly and hardworking.

My husband and I had the hake and plaice and it was the nicest fish and chips we've had in a very long time. Cooked to order and was so fresh and the batter wasn't greasy like many other chip shops are. The chips were delicious too. The staff were also very friendly, especially Dai😂😉 Highly recommend if you're visiting Mevagissey.

Finally got to enjoy some top notch fish and chips in Cornwall. The fish was thick, white and flakey, with a lovely taste, plus the batter was light and crispy, just melted in my mouth, chips were plentiful and properly cooked to perfection. On top of that the price was very reasonable and represented excellent value for money.

Beautiful food, but 30 min waiting time for a piece of cod is just ridiculous. Take in consideration that the service is extremely slow.

The ordering and serving system does not work, its chaotic and messy, I ordered fish and chips at the window and the joined the other people that were waiting, there were customers all over the place and clogging up the walk way to the harbour, after about 20 minutes I went to the counter and asked where my order was and was advised the order hadn't been passed over from the window! I see from a previous review this has happened before! The whole system needs reviewing! Covid is not an issue now so why are the set of doors closed, you need to go back to old way, people ordering and queuing in the actual shop! The staff were apologetic and quickly gave me my order, but there's too many staff behind the counter that seem to not be doing much, Apart from the above the fish and chips are ace, as is the tartare sauce,

We have used this chippy often in the past and it has always been excellent. However, last night we had haddock and chips. We were so disappointed. The haddock was excellent, but batter was soggy and chips tasted and looked as though they had been reheated from lunch time. Sad as we were so looking forward to it. I must mention that the service was really good and staff were so nice. I hope this was a one off.

One of the nicest fish and chips I've had. I had the Hake, partner had haddock. We requested that the batter was thin and they kindly obliged. Portion size was very good, freshly cooked to order, piping hot and not too greasy. Oh and the fish tasted of the sea. My faith in fish and chips has been restored!! Thank you

Went here today and had Cod and chips. Service was good, nice friendly staff. The Cod was really nice white fluffy piece of fish and very big for ‘regular’. The chips were perfect. We will definitely go there again next time we are in the area.

Ordered cod and chips to go . 2 people infront of me but had to wait 20mins . Place was filthy and the food was worse. If I had squeezed the fish I would have got 1/2 a cup of old oil and it tasted bad Threw it In the bin
