Porthleven Fish and Chip in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

An amazing fish and chips! Even though we didn’t get the meal back for a little while after purchasing, the fish was still crispy and delicious, the chips were great and the portions were very big!

Visited from Australia today and fish and chips were fresh and well cooked. Excellent service from staff. Would highly recommend.

Best fish and chips we've had in a while. First time visiting Porthleven and would highly recommend coming here for fish and chips. Regular fish was a decent size, a nice light batter, tasty chips and really good curry sauce. Will definitely return when we visit the area again.

This evening we had large cod and regular chips and it fed 2. The fish was made to order and was simply amazing. Highly recommend this place Thank you x

Haddock on a Wednesday evening was not very fresh, chips were mediocre. Have had far better at other places around the UK.

Really quick and tasty chips! Very reasonably priced, regular chips, three jumbo sausages and a curry sauce only £12. Very impressed! Forks and napkins provided. Biodegradable bag and packaging which is always lovely to see. Friendly service, we would definitely go back.

Been here twice on our hol,1st time we're lovely,2nd time we're not,had a child's fish,chips and peas and the whole fish inside we're grey,so threw away ,will not be returning

We had fish n chips a few years ago when it was run by the old proprietor and it was warm and welcoming food was amazing and the place was buzzing Had fish n chips yesterday and wow how standards have changed Sorry not for us anymore

we had the sister in law and brother in law here for a week and the highlight was fish and chips at porthleven. You did not disappoint. Dawn Woodroffe and Tony Woodroffe loved it.

We were made very welcome even though they were about to close. Delicious and hearty son and chips!

The food here was not very good, we ordered everything and were not very satisfied. The chicken nuggets and drinks were tasty, it was not extremely expensive and there was a lot of choice in drinks. But other than that we weren't happy with it.

How dare you. Pouring rain so we ran to get there at 20 past 8 as you close at 8:30 according to you web site, and your closed. Not acceptable.

Nice but quite expensive for what u get compared to other chippies in other towns. Sensed some tension amongst the staff.

I have had consistently wonderful experiences here. The food is always hot and fresh, very reasonably priced, and most importantly tasty. The wonderful team here have always served people quickly, I'm a wheelchair user and they are very accommodating of this fact. I would, 10 out of 10, recommend this place ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Worst fish & chips I've e er had. Got small cod & chips. Was a decent size portion. The oil in the fryer needs changing as the chips had a bad taste. The fish wasn't fresh & was totally inedible. Had to throw it all away. Will not be going there again

Good queueing system which seemed far too complicated for some tourists to understand but they were effing and jeffing to their other halves when they arrived so I didn't bother to point it out. Staff were very quick and efficient and the food was good. It was just short of £40 for 4 meals and drinks so about the same as anywhere on the tourist trail. We took ours back to our caravan and ate out of the cardboard cartons so had the bonus of no washing up as well. Definitely worth a visit after a day at the beach 👍

£11 for a large cod which was dry tasteless and chewy. Add to that the batter was thin and soggy and the chips were rather scabby. I've been coming to Porthleven for a number of years and definitely won't be coming here again for my fish and chips. Unfortunately there aren't any other fish and chip shops in Porthleven so I guess they are able to get away with it!

Used to be 2 other chippys in Porthleven better than this, they have no competition now and it shows, chewy cod and tasteless frozen chips cooked too fast, large portions but you'll probably chuck half of it like we did.

Nice pub and the beer garden is a great place to sit in the sun with a drink. Roast is delicious

Pretty good. Friendly and efficient guys serving. A little pricey though.

Picked up some chips and peas for lunch. Really well cooked and the price wasn’t too bad. Very tasty. Watch out for the local seagulls, they’ll have your chips, your coat and your underpants before you even realise that they’re gone!

Enjoyed our lunch. Staff friendly.

Traditional Fish and Chip shop ,close to the harbour. Plenty of seating around the harbour to sit and enjoy good quality food served by really friendly staff.

Well what can I say!!? £5.50 for a small under battered, soggy, wet, cod, chips were greasy and full of scabs, lazily cooked, under par, over priced rubbish i won't be buying there again il travel into helston, I wouldv given no stars but that's not an option, fryer needs to sort it out, absolutely shockingl!!

Nice food; they were almost sold out of fish when ordering.

Excellent fresh fish and chips. Fish was cooked to order and not dried out like many other places. Great portion sizes and good value kids meals too. Very efficient service even with covid system in place. Staff were friendly too.

I have had Fish and chips in many places from Ullapool to Brora and the supposed haven Whitby but without a doubt this place is my new top of the list, the Fish is absolutely amazing, fresh beautiful white flakes of cod and lovely chips. Now usually my wife will peel back the batter and just eat the fish but she ate the whole thing and to top it off it is all served by lovely friendly staff

Disappointed as I wanted fish & chips but was put off by the sign on the door no mask no entry. I am exempt from wearing a face covering, didnt feel welcome here. Business's can't make up their own rules as they are breaking the equality act 2010.

Love the fish & chips from here, everything is fresh. Scampi is tasty. Lovely, friendly staff. They have a great ordering number system, no mask, no service, very safe. 1st come, 1st serve so need to be early enough to get fish. Can't wait to visit again this year.

We live in landlocked Birmingham and are staying 2minutes walk from this fish & chip shop. To say we were looking forward to our supper is an understatement.We both had cod & chips, chips - fine. The fish was already cooked and sitting in a warming cabinet, I would have waited for freshly fried but my husband was the customer. The cod was moist and glistening, but the batter was dreadful, soggy, not a crisp mouthful to be had. What else to say? It was more expensive than the shop we use in Brum which is run by a Greek family, it’s really well thought of and lives up to it’s reputation.Pastys tomorrow.

Bloody expensive will not go there again. And that's both fish n chip shops. Day light Robbery . £12 for 1 lardge 1 small chips and 2 cans of coke. Only had that because I look at the fish price. Fish at the markets have gone down so why have the chip shops gone up.

This were one of our favourite chip shops but of late the quality and size of the portions has dropped in my opinion. The fish used to be coated in a lovely light very crispy batter but the last two times has been served soggy. Always plenty of fish and chips for your money but no longer. Maybe it's a lunch time thing but won't be heading back for a while.

My wife and I have just had lunch from here. The chips were perfect but the fish tasted more like pollock than cod but We managed to eat some of it.

Friendly staff and the most amazing fish and chips , perfect crispy batter , lovely white fish, and crispy but soft centered chips... definitely recommend . Best I have had for a long while😍
