Lovely fresh cooked fish n chips. Ordered Scampi, Haddock, Cod, Battered sausage with chips, peas and curry sauce. All 4 of us enjoyed the food with no grumbles at all. Top service from the young man working...thankyou

Decided to give it a go for once orderded a burger which was over £11 and the girl asked me did i want fries and a drink i said just medium fries and yes a drink .was shocked when she said £22.25 couldnt believe it !!!! chips werent great and burger was average could have got a 3 course meal and a drink at the pub for what i paid for that! How can they justify them prices dearer than any airport i have ever been!

Really disappointed. I have been to several Five Guys across the country and thought I would take my companion here as their first experience of it. They said they won't eat at a Five Guys again. *Fries - these tasted like they'd been reheated. They were soggy, not crisp and were over salted. Not like other outlets which have looked and tasted fresh. *Burgers (bacon cheese burger). I couldn't taste the BBQ sauce in mine. The burgers were dry yet greasy at the same time. They were also bland. I've had the same burger at different outlets and never been disappointed. *Shakes (Biscoff and chocolate) - I really enjoyed my shake, my companion put theirs on the same lines as a McDonalds (chocolate) and wasn't happy for the price. Due to staff been busy and needing to leave soon I decided to voice my complaints via the QR code on the receipt and was met with condescending replies. Please if you have an issue let staff know straight away and avoid corporate!!! From what I witness the staff were lovely.

Food was really good and tasty. Was cooked hot and fresh and the seating area was clean, tidy and modern. Staff seemed nice enough as well and average prices for these days. Would like to see them offer a few more items on their menu such as Burger, Scallops, Black Pudding, Baked Beans, Fish Pattie maybe, and it was disappointing to see that their signature homemade Yorkshire Fishcake was unavailable as well.

Highly disappointed. The burger patties were dry and not tasty. Ordered bacon cheese burger. No cheese but it was a mistake made by the person taking the order. Soft drinks were flat. Signs say “ worth the pilgrimage for burger lovers”. Think I’ll take a pilgrimage elsewhere. I’m not a fan of McDonald’s but would have been happier with one of their burgers.

It was ok I suppose Lads behind the counter totally not interested in customer service . Tin of pepsi warm not cold won't go there again . Think I'll have a McDonald's next time

Best thing about the place is the fruit curry

Only has 1 option left from the 6 options on the menu at 17:30…. And 30p extra for ketchup, 30p extra for mayonnaise, and 30p extra for tartare sauce….. luckily I can get free sauces from McDonald’s next to it 🫠

The fish was lovely but small, the chips were under cooked, pale in colour and most of them were slightly raw. £2.85 for a cup of tea in a cardboard takeaway cup and perfumed curry. Really not worth the money.. I don't think we will be going again!

Ordered easily and sat down and waited for the order to be prepared. Number was called out and collected food from counter. Burgers were lovely and tasty and chips were great too. Would definitely recommend

Just been in york outlet and stop for lunch in the fisherman’s wife !had regular fish and chips and it was definitely not worth the price £9.99 !the fish was small and when I question it at the counter been told that’s the regular fish size ,then it was dry and hard at the end with not much left in the middle !chips was dry and cold !expensive and not nice

It is the first time for me try the Fisherman’s Wife and I was disappointed. I had a mini fish meal. The chips was oily and has a different taste that I didn’t like. The fish was oily as well and the crisp coating was more than the fish. I may give it another try in a different branch if I have a chance!

Stood for 10 mins in a queue for the lad serving to be talking to what thought was a customer young female constant while ppl waiting to order for her then to say see you soon was a friend. Very rude , unprofessional and decided wouldn't rake my money there I'll go elsewhere 2nd bad experience there now with staff. If was owner I'd be training my staff to have customer service skills and manners.

Found on the top floor at McArthur Glen Designer Outlet. First time at Five Guys as we thought we would give it a try. Lady on the till was lovely and gave us advice about the portion sizes etc. Found the prices were quite high came to £35 for two of us which we felt was a bit steep compared to other competitors. Burgers were lovely and cooked well, able to have up to x15 extras on the burger although only had three. Loved the fries with the potato skin on. Enjoyed my lunch and burgers were good yet expensive overall and more than we would have paid for a burger lunch. Ticked the box.

Fish and chips of very low quality.. don’t try it

Just over £30 for the two of us and at best average burgers. There was a topping missing off both of our burgers and the chips were rubbish. It was all really oilily. The pop machines had a great range of drinks including grape Fanta. Not rushing back.

My son has severe milk allergys and the staff have gone above and beyond today to check ingregiants and make sure there was something he could have. Our fish and chips were amazing too, the best Ive had in a long time.

Been a few times to Designer Outlet York and had the fish n chips and always been good. Not sure if this is a different franchise but the fish was dry and once you got past the thick batter there was very little fish. The fish actually tasted like they were warm ups, we were early so who knows but don't think we will go again.

Order was put through the till incorrectly, only noticed once it was served. Had to wait again for the squid rings to be made. The food was horribly bland and textured and seemed to come with a free bout of food poisoning. Now I'm laid up in bed, all the symptoms and losing out on pay from work all for a very lackluster experience. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Fish was dry Chip were hard and chewy. Seemed like they were yesterday's warmed up.

Terrable very dry fish hard chips and tinned Peas coffee was cold also. Don't waste your money

If only I could give this place zero! Food is appalling. Dry and overcooked fish. Chips are horrible. How on earth do you get chips wrong? Staff are slow and unbelievably rude. I shan't be coming back. Worst option for food in the centre. Do not waste your money at this place it is vile! Food handling practices also are poor. Is it normal for staff to handle food with bare hands once cooked. Should be reported to food safety standards board. Disgusting

They need to start putting some fish in the batter, chips hard, very poor indeed

We always eat here when visiting the outlet and this visit was as good as ever. The quality of the fish and chips is always outstanding.

Wanted pie but had to settle for fish , as they only do fish sausages and chicken of course chips

Rude staff, when asking what we would like to eat she goes ‘what do you want’! And they had run out of curry sauce by 4pm! Glad we didn’t eat here in the end!

It is where I like to go for seafood Especially Lobster which is what I always order, the Thermidor sauce is superb. I truly don’t know anyone thats had bad seafood here. The staff too are so welcoming, friendly & helpful. I try and sit looking out to the sea & beach side but honestly as long as I get a table Im happy. Hopefully back there again later this year

The chips were over cooked & i couldn’t’ t believe how small & over cooked the fish was. This is the second time i have had a bad meal & will never return again.

We decided on fish n chips for our tea at around 6 30pm today, after wandering around the shops. Sorry to report we got end of the day food that had been under the heat lamp a while. Certainly wasn't freshly cooked. Such a shame. We cheered ourselves up with a McFlurry.

This used to be great on par with Leeds Market...but today really dry, chewy fish and chips were rubbish. They got a 1 star for the Heinz ketchup. Need to raise standards significantly. Very disappointing.

I am sorry to say that the fish is not Haddock. We decided to try it again today to see if the quality of the fish and chips have improved. Unfortunately not. The fish was wet tasteless. It is a lot of money to pay for tasteless food.

We’ve eaten at The Fisherman’s Wife for years at several of their restaurants but unfortunately this will be our last visit. After ordering our food and proceeding to pay, the lady on the till pointed to a ‘card-only’ sign. An interesting discussion proceeded with her about the importance of cash and how common it is to see card machines down and problems with digital wallets, the lady serving was in total agreement that it is short sighted and wasn’t very wise. We like to leave a tip, in cash of course, for good service but there’ll be no more visits to The Fisherman’s Wife unfortunately… Cash is legal tender and important for more reasons than most realise.

Here now absolutely degusting all batter no fish in it and chips are cold

Long wait to be served, then found they didn't have the Senior Special we wanted,it was only early afternoon. Looked to be short staffed so doing their best. Won't be going there again.

Useful to go to on a Sunday night when most other fish and chip shops in the area are shut. Chips not the best fish was good enough though, we went on a Sunday night as we were staying at the hollicars lodges nearby

The fish and chips are as tasty as ever but unfortunately the fish is now half the size it used to be. Not worth the price of pretty much £10 with mushy peas. Disappointed.

A very convenient place for lunch … but nothing special. Fish a little over cooked. Chips undercook. Peas best called bland or insipid & very disappointing.

Fish and Chips at This Place Is Not Bad but The Attitude and Arrogance of The Staff is Bad. No Manners Whatsoever When It Comes to Serving. Mind You The Fish and Chips Here Fisherman's Wife is not Cheap. I've Been to Their Few Leeds Branches and Have Always Had a Good Experience. I Hope It Was a One. The Fish And Chips Itself Is Not The Very Best but Definitely Better Them Normal Fish Shops. Visited Again After Nearly 2 Years & Honestly Not Much Has Changed. Food is Still Ok But The Staff Arrogance & Attitude Hasn't Changed. Management Really Needs To Look Into It.

After regularly visiting the Fisherman's wife in the McCarther Glen outlet we won't be going again.We were most disappointed upon our last visit. The portions were a lot smaller along with the box they came in. Considering the price they charge this was very disappointing.

Always eat here when shopping at the Outlet Centre. Freshest fish freshly cooked with hot chips at a great price - couldn’t fail to please. Best fish and chips we have tasted in York. Mouth watering at the thought. Delighted to recommend.

A tidy clean hygienic outlet in MacArthur Glen. A quick snack of mini fish n chips + peas + coffee. Fried fresh and tasted great within 4 mins of ordering. All tables in the area cleaned and fresh. Staff polite and helpful 👍👍👍

While shopping at the York designer outlet my husband talked me into having fish and chips ( with bits on of cause!) I can honestly say these where the best fish and chips I have had in years, beautiful white cod, crispy batter( and bits) and the chips where perfect, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The fish had no bones, no skin, just perfect fish and chips. The last time my husband has fish and chips here he had is walking stick, and when the lady serving his saw his stick she offered to take his fish snd chips to his table, so he would not struggle to carry them. A very nice touch. Keep up the good work, and thanks.

Good fish and chips that are freshly cooked, so expect big queues. Unfortunately let down by the dirty seating area, but this is the mall's responsibilty and not the outlet's.

Brilliant portion sizes. Fish was lovely and very tasty. Curry sauce was the perfect flavour. Absolutely delicious food and great service.

Queued for three quarters of an hour to be told after we had sat down there was no sea food available just fish and chips or line fish with veg. Not good nor was the halibut and chips , very dry fish and very dry chips. High expectations but low, low actuaity

Visited on the 27th August - absolutely delicious!! Probably the most I've ever spent on fish & chips BUT 100% worth it. I've been to McArthur Glen numerous times and always wanted to try it but every time I've ended up at McDonald's, Subway or pizza hut with the little one - definitely will be getting fish and chips again when we next visit - glad I finally got the chance to try them!

Had curry and chips, absolutely beautiful, chips were spot on and so was the curry. Would recommend to anyone, hopefully we will be back soon!

A fish and chip shop without fish???? Had to order 2 pieces of small haddock as no cod or medium or large haddock. When food came chips were from green potatoes and under cooked mushy peas stone cold had to return and end up with...

i always make sure i stop here whenever im at the mall. the food is great and it normally has cod too which is a massive bonus compared to the other local chippies!

With fantastic service, from friendly staff, and traditional fish and chips (or in my case battered sausage and chips) The Fisherman's Wife provided a delightful lunch for myself and my crew mate (and, as we were in our Ambulance uniform, they threw in a discount, too!) In this time of concern over the pandemic, they would also seem to be taking sensible measures to limit the risk of infection, alongside their usual practices (the kitchen looks impeccable) Helpful review? Excellent portion sizes and value for money. Sausage was maybe a little hard, possibly been under the lights a little too long. Asked for scraps, they were put on the wrong meal, but they were easily picked off. Will certainly visit again

On new years day the fisherman's wife at mc,Arthur Glenn stepped in with no notice to fullfill an order for 16 hungry family members after another fish and chip take away was found to be closed despite the order being placed in December. I can,t than the staff enough for their speed, efficiency and the production of some excellent fish and chips.

Had small fish and peas. It was delicious and reasonably priced.

Went here for lunch great choice on the menu we had the fish cake and chips cooked fresh lovely meal.

This was our second visit to Fisherman's wife. In fact we called at the designer outlet just to eat here. I really like the fact that you can have a small portion. It was more than enough for me. Nice crisp batter, non greasy chips...

I would at least expect some sort of fish cake or at least some chips for gluten free people. There was no queue and every other restaurant was full, which reflects badly on this ‘restaurant’.
