We visited The Ferryboat after our Father Christmas experience down the road from there. We had a table of 6 adults and 7 children. All of us loved every bit of our meal, in fact it was delicious. The staff were fantastic, especially Ken who made sure our order was correct and he was great with the kids. My parents are moving to Hayling Island in the New Year and we have bought them vouchers to celebrate their move with a delicious meal here. Lisa & Edwina made these prior to our visit so they were ready for us. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, food is delicious and location is beautiful, we will be back very soon :)

Yesterday we visited the Ferryboat Inn and was blown away by the experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for a delightful meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly their Sleigh Burger—a seasonal treat that was bursting with flavor! The juicy, perfectly cooked patty was complemented by a combination of festive toppings that made every bite a celebration. The portion was generous, and the presentation was spot-on, making it as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the taste buds. The Ferryboat Inn has a charm that makes it ideal for both casual dining and special occasions. With its cozy decor and exceptional food, it’s clear that great care goes into every detail. I’ll definitely be returning to try more of their menu! Highly recommended if you’re looking for delicious food and a warm, welcoming experience. Don’t miss the Sleigh Burger while it’s on the menu—it’s a holiday treat to remember!

Outside the pub the area is a bit of a mess, parts of the pub garden are cordoned off and the general area is shabby, pity because of the views across the water. The interior of the pub is fine and the beer and service is first class. Unfortunately, we along with at least 10 other people were unable to sample the food in this establishment due to us all being crowded into one small bar with a large bar at the other end being off limits to dog owners. This is not a pub one could recommend to dog owners, but for diners without hounds it is probably great.

The Ferryboat Inn is beautifully-situated beside the sea at the westernmost extremity of Hayling Island, where a narrow tidal channel separates it from nearby Portsea Island, upon which the "Great Waterfront City of Portsmouth" stands. Most people who visit the Ferryboat Inn will come by motor car as there is a large, paid car park adjacent to the pub. It's also possible to get there by cycling, or walking, along the disused Hayling Billy line from Havant. There is a frequent road 'bus service from Havant to Hayling seafront but the nearest stop is a fifteen-minute walk from the pub. Alternatively, the No. 25 'bus service from the Hard Interchange in Portsmouth sets down at Eastney Lifeboat Station, from where it's possible to catch the hourly ferry sailing (Adult Single ticket GBP 3:50) to Hayling Island. The Ferryboat Inn, part of the Stonegate pub chain, gets very busy during Summer weekends as it's convenient for those who wish to walk or swim at Hayling beach, It's also very popular with watersports enthusiasts, and those who patronise the nearby Golf Course. The wait for food, if you wanted to eat at a table inside, was about an hour when I arrived on Saturday lunchtime so I bought a large, fried Cod and Chips from the pub's takeaway chippy and ate it at an outside table overlooking the entrance to Langstone Harbour. If it's a windy day and you wish to eat inside, a plate of hearty Sausage and Mash will set you back GBP 14:50 whilst a Lamb Shank costs GBP 17:50. There is a good range of food and drink on offer with a 175ml glass of red or white house wine coming in at well under a fiver. Food is served from 12:00-21:00 on Saturdays and from 12:00-19:00 on Sundays.

Bar staff friendly enough, ordered creamy mushroom bruschetta- I got mushrooms with just plain melted cheese (that was luke warm so had congealed so almost solid) asked waiter where the creamy sauce was, he said that was it and walked off. Tried it and sure enough just melted cheese, no herbs no sauce no other flavour. Sent it back and was given another, that was exactly the same- except more cheese and hotter so cheese was ‘meltier’ . Again advised staff it was still just plain cheese and there’s no sauce, I could literally tip plate and nothing moved, no sauce at all. All he said was ‘sorry I don’t know what it’s meant to be’ Wasn’t offered refund, and couldn’t be bothered to argue my point for a 3rd time. The Chef is shocking, my child could’ve make more of an effort- pure laziness, and it wasn’t even busy.

Nice pub and nice location, food was okay standard pub chain food, staff were nice and food came out quick, unfortunately booking system is a joke, I believe they have some company doing bookings for them and they are absolutely hopeless, only one time available for a table of 8 but when we arrive to the pub it wasn’t busy at all, we tried to change the time and amount of people on the booking which was near on impossible, speaking to a girl called Maria which didn’t seem to want to help or refund the deposit, we then received an email saying we had changed the amount of people on the booking when this wasn’t true and about an hour later another email saying the booking was cancelled, I seriously suggest the pub gets rid of this incompetent company and start to take bookings themselves, we did manage to speak to James in the end ( team leader ) who sorted it the booking out straight away and was very nice and helpful.

We were staying at the Oven Campsite and decided to walk here on a lovely sunny Saturday. It took us about an hour, but we stopped quite a few times to pick blackberries along the way! We both had the mushroom wellington which was nice, although I was expecting larger chunks of mushroom, it was more like a vegetable wellington in my opinion. The views from where we were sitting were lovely, and if it had been a little less breezy, we would have sat outside with a drink. We found a bus stop heading back to our campsite, but it took us about 25 minutes to walk there.

We booked via the web booker earlier during the week, as we knew we'd be spending a few hours on the island. This part of the booking was straight forward with no issues. We knew the place was dog friendly, so we indicated on the booking that we had a dog. We had a notification that the booking was successful. However, a few hours before we got to the place, i had a email saying they could not accommodate our dog anymore. I tried to call the place, but had to go thru those awful AI call guards asking what i wanted. I asked to speak to a manager, and the phone just went dead! This made me angry, and tainted what had been a great few hours with the family on the island. I went to the place, an asked for the manager, "luke" appeared, and was amazing, he did not know why the email had been sent, he showed me our name on the reservation list, to show we had not been cancelled, he also showed us to our table which even had a "reserved" sign on it. He apologised several times for the email error, again he had no idea why the email was sent. The food and service was brilliant, the view from our table was lovely, looking over the estuary. We'd also read some bad reviews over the parking area. When you get there, there are signs saying what you pay etc. There is nothing to pay, if you are eating / drinking at the pub, as long as you are not there for 3 hours. When you finish up at the pub, ask them for a parking voucher, they print one off, then you scan it at the machine at the entrance to the pub, put in your registration when prompted and all is free, as long as you are not there for 3 hours or more. There is plenty of parking after the small shack on the left of the pub, down a gravel track to. All in all a lovely place, and thanks to Luke it was enjoyable, the only thing i would suggest is, to look at your phone automated system, because if you are tying to reach a human voice, and you cant get hold of one, or get cut off, it makes it very irritating.

Looked at the menu on line which was so varied we decided to book. However on arriving the menu had been whittled down to no where near what was showing on their website. I asked at the bar why this was so and it was because of a wedding that was going on. OK, no worries, however when I asked if I could have some extra veg to compensate for the fact that the meal I wanted was no longer available (which had a nice amount of veg) I was informed yes of course you can order the £4 seasonal veg option to go with your meal. I mean, come on, how much does a few carrots cost to put on a punters plate. This is now the second time I have come here and I wasn't happy the first time but I'm always willing to give an establishment a second chance before leaving a sad review. I live on the Island and am disappointed that this is what is to offer. Poor show both times.

However, we were absolutely delighted from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Even our dog was made to feel extremely welcome and was the 1st to get served with a nice bowl of water. Food was extremely good and the service we received by our waiter, Ken was exceptional. He is the most friendliest helpful waiter I have encountered in many a year. Nothing was too much trouble for him! The visit was made complete by a beautiful box gift of gin and tonic for the Mum’s in our party on our way out. All in all a very pleasant experience. Well done, ferryboat

Staff weren't made aware!! Why not ensure dogs only allowed on areas that are not carpeted but tiled.Especially when dogs wet .Have been in many pubs in different areas where this is the rule. Booked a table for 7 Tuesday night with friends , a couple of who were on their way back to France so were catching a ferry that night. I chose the moules with frites after asking the young waiter if they were a popular choice and did they come with a rich, thick creamy sauce as I wouldn't have them if they didn't. He assured me he would request that on my behalf. When they came out , they were absolutely miniscule, had absolutely no flavour and the sauce was like watery grey dishwater. They were also served with a couple of slices of triangular white sliced bread....bit strange.... Horrible. When we were asked if everything was OK , I did point all this out, but it clearly fell on deaf ears as they were not taken off the bill and my friends from France ended up having to pay for them. Rather embarrassing. I definitely would not recommend eating at this pub.

A superb location . Plenty of outside seating right by the sea where you can watch boats coming and going. Friendly staff and good range of drinks reasonably priced. Although we did not eat the menu did look enticing
