excellent home cooked food.Not fast food expect to wait around 20mins for meal Carvery available Wednesdays and Sundays

It's a pretty typical wetherspoons experience with the quality and range of food and drink. Has a good amount of seating. The staff were very helpful and chatty which I consider and good thing.

Food is adequate for what you pay. Service was poor no one really seemed interested in looking after the customers. Not really an atmospheric place.

I mean, you know what you're getting with a Wetherspoons breakfast. Everything was served quickly, and the staff were friendly and happy to help, and it was clean. About what I'd expect if I'm paying 13 quid for 2 breakfasts and drinks.

Small and crowded. Not much real ale choice, due to a small bar.

Excellent spoons always delivers on value. Good food decent price. Staff are always helpful. Never a long wait. Lad and his Mrs kicking off last time I was in but was sorted by staff quickly and efficiently.

We walked in having a meal and couple of drinks. I was with my two daughters. We went directly to the bar to purchase some drinks. There were a few people there and one of the staff was talking to his colleagues. He was telling them that the cooler had broken down, well that was the gist of the conversation as it was tangled with many expletives that it was hard to understand. All in front of the customers. Then it went downhill even further I ordered a Real Ale, my first sip was disappointing to say the least, it had a sour aftertaste. I had another couple to make sure it was not my taste buds. I returned the pint to the bar where one member of staff tasted a drop from the pump. He said it tasted OK but would pour me another. I said I was not convinced and asked for a different beer, which fair play to him he obliged. I went back to our table with a view to ordering our food. Taking a sip of my new pint it had the same sour taste as the first. My girls drank their drinks and we retired to one of your rivals where I enjoyed a couple of excellent beers, more expensive though. I can honestly say that in all my years drinking in your establishments, this is the first time I have felt let down by you. Please sell the place before it impacts on you in a very negative fashion. I had to give the pub one star to allow me to write this review but it is not even deserving of that. Sorry Wetherspoons but you need honesty to retain, what in my opinion, is a wonderful reputation. The spend per person would have been more but...., and of course we would have returned, but not now.

A nice and homy pub. We ordered coffee and tea and could refill it for free. We took a lunch deal; a drink was included. The pub is easy accessible for people with a disability.

Went to the Denmead Queen to wait for my husband to finish work . I’m a landlady and a chef by trade. The staff were lovely the food was tasty and arrived quickly. The prices can’t be beat and today the service was amazing. It will be my go to pub in Waterlooville going forward. Big thank you to everybody who served me 3/9/24 Jane xx

If you are going to be in the open kitchen then surely making vomiting sounds is not appropriate or funny especially when you're that loud another staff member comes over to check but you both laugh,as a customer you definitely put me off my food thanks sweetie.

I spent some time outside with family members, and was so busy chating when we left that I left my holdall on the back of my seat. So silly, but about 20mins later I realised and phoned through. The young lady that took my call went straight away to collect it. Thank you so much for doing that. Cheap bag but I'd only bought last Saturday. 10 out of 10 from. Thank you. David.

Today we went in for a morning breakfast, we been there before and it has been lovely! Unfortunately today it was stone cold, was disgusting! We wont be coming back, it has put us right off.

All I can say on the positive is that the selection, quality and prices of the drinks is great…..but then again that is central to the Wetherspoons business model. The food is what you would expect from Wetherspoons, a good range of pub grub at reasonable prices, with average ingredients. Again the Wetherspoons model. What wasn’t at all good was the standard of service and the attitude of the staff! This was frankly bloody awful!! It started with manning behind the bar. One member of staff serving those at the bar (6-8 people constantly) and one dealing with app orders. When the app order person wasn’t doing anything, a customer asked her whether she would help the barman out (who was rushed off his feet) but she point blank refused and (imho) insulted the customer by telling him that in future he should do the intelligent thing and use the app! We ordered food (couldn’t use the app as it can’t cope with customisation) - six meals - three arrived after about 10 mins, the other three never arrived. We could see the missing meals waiting under the lights; the chef had prepared all of the meals together but the waitress had simply forgotten to bring them with the other three. We made several comments and eventually (after 15 mins) the waitress tried to give us the three meals that had been sat in the open under the lights for about 20 mins. We of course refused these which became an issue for the waitress (it seems we were being unreasonable) but the Chef saved the day and said he would prepare new meals, which he proceeded to do. Eventually after about 30 mins since the first three meals arrived, the three missing meals arrived, accompanied by the manager. His apology was frankly inadequate, nay, insulting. There was no recognition on his part that the meals should all arrive together. There was no recognition that the waiting staff had forgotten to bring the meals. There was no recognition that trying to serve meals that had been sat in the open under lights for 20 mins was unacceptable. There was no recognition that this had spoiled the experience for all. His only response was l “well I’ve refunded the three meals, what more do you want?” Honestly, I wouldn’t go there again. I would go th the pub right next door (The Hero’s) which had great staff, great drinks, great entertainment and was only a little more expensive.

the worst experience ever I witnessed a member of bar staff behind the bar he said his name was Jordan take off his trainer and rummage in it with his hand then put it on and go straight to serving and use the till without washing his hands. disgusting and unhygienic

I brought it to everyone's attention and it was just shrugged off. basic hygiene was your hands. absolutely disgusting won't return

Decent food, decent size, fast and efficient service. Sometimes it's a challenge to get a seat when it's busy but that's the price you pay for good prices and effective service.

Visited for curry night. Sadly once again the food was luke warm. This is a regular occurrence at the Denmead Queen. Often send the food back to be warmed but in a hurry tonight.

What's not to like! Fabulous breakfast as always - better than Toby's anyday. Clean and well presented, good staff. Definitely worth it 👌

Great place, lovely food and drinks for a good price. Small but decently sized smoking area with lots of parking, which isn't too badly priced during the daytime, and that's free after 6 pm. Staff are helpful and nice. There's direct access to the highstreet if you're visiting during the day, and overall, I find this spoons to be a solid drinking/dining spot. Clean interior, easy to navigate, big bar and usually well staffed

Staff work very hard in this busy place. The prices are cheap so good if you on a budget. There was more tall stool tables than shoet ones for some reason so a lot of these get unattended or left till last because they are uncomfortable to sit on. The toilets are upstairs as in many a weatherspoon so you will struggle in a wheelchair. The staircase is also very narrow so a bit worrying. The mayonaise is left out on the side so avoid that. The resturant also gets really warm and has a fire that is lit most of the time adding to the heat so sit at the back or front if you can.

Hmm.. Steak wasn't that grwatwith loads of gristle. Servers didn't even ask how was the meal!

I'm honestly shocked that this place has at least 3 stars. Myself and a group of about 15 friends come to this pub in the evening around once a week, and every single time, without exception we are made to feel incredibly unwanted and like we are a huge burden. The staff are honestly absolutely vile, and with the exception of one employee, they all look like they'd rather be anywhere else but working there. We sometimes order a small amount of food (perhaps a main meal or two, a couple sides or desserts) and it's always met with hostility. I ordered one side once around 10:15 (despite the fact that the kitchen is open till 11) and one employee found it necessary to then come over to the table and ask if 'anyone was ordering more food cos the chefs want to close early and go home'. We are never even close to being the last ones to leave and are normally gone by 11:30 (well within half an hour of their advertised closing time) but are always treated like we've walked in at the last minute and are keeping them later than needs be. I even make every effort to take the empty glasses to the bar and move back any tables we've rearranged. I've worked in hospitality for years and have never encountered such revolting hostility in any pub. Ever. I'd be thoroughly embarrassed if I caught any of my staff even behaving 10% as rudely as the staff act on a regular basis. You can't even put it down to a staff member having a bad day, because it's the same every single time we go in. We're a large group, and easily spend over £100 between us and are always very patient and tell them to not rush and that we're very happy to wait, but we've since decided to take our custom to a different pub now where we are welcomed with positivity and a happy smile. The staff at this new pub have even commented about other customers who have told them similar stories and that The Denmeand Queen has a reputation for employing horrible staff who are rude. On one occasion we overheard a member of staff loudly comment that my friends dress was 'hideous', followed by a very obvious look and laugh. I've heard vaguely homophobic comments from them before, and seen one male staff member imitate a limp wrist gesture whilst looking and laughing at us. On another occasion, I asked my friend if he wanted to go and smoke (I had my vape in my hand). He started to make a rolly, so I placed my vape on the table. Some nasty employee came over and really aggressively said to me 'we have a strict no vaping policy, and if I have to tell you again, you'll be asked to leave'. I asked if they have CCTV and she said yes. I politely said 'well go and have a look at the tape and then you'll see I haven't vaped inside, and then you can come and apologise for being so rude'. She came back and said she'd seen me vaping on the CCTV, so I asked if she had a phone and to go and record the footage to show me vaping which I knew she wouldn't be able to do. She claimed some rubbish that they weren't allowed to show customers CCTV footage. When I explained that it is UK law that any customer is legally allowed to review CCTV of themselves, she hurried off and didn't come back. Because she knew she had just lied to my face and had been aggressive and rude for no valid reason. Again, I work in hospitality and know full well that anyone is allowed to see footage of themselves upon request. Whenever we order food, it's always just slammed on the table and met with a miserable delivery of 'Anything else?', and an eye roll as they walk away. They need to stop employing miserable, chavvy young people who think that the world owes them something, and like they're hard done by for being asked to do the job that they're literally being paid for. They applied for a job in an establishment that has clearly advertised closing times, and if they feel that's a burden then they should work somewhere else that has hours more suited to their superior needs. I would like to say however, there is a young woman who has brown hair and wears it in a ponytail and is always seen with a lanyard round her neck (I think she might be management in some way). She is absolutely delightful, so friendly, and always has a smile on her face. I've only seen her there a few times but she's always so welcoming and eager to help. Unfortunately, one decent staff member is not enough to get us to come back. It's probably an ok place to go if you have incredibly low standards and are happy being treated like an inconvenience. If that doesn't appeal to you, avoid it like the plague.

Good cheap beer and food, no complaints about that. Friendly service, tables cleared and cleaned as soon as possible. Somewhere to go after work on a Sunday evening.

The only thing I will say is the Denmead Queen doe's not pay a service contract on there coffee machines. I was told this by an engineer. When he opened one of the machines to repair it it did look like its not serviced or cleaned !!!!

Great little pub on the High Street, staff always friendly and helpful.

I work in a restaurant and knows how things work, place wasn’t busy at all, had 4 floor staff an didn’t receive a single check back! Still had our plates on the tables when we got a puddings an still didn’t get taken after that!

Every time I order a steak (very well done) it is never cooked right. Ordered food, went to toilet & see my order sat ready for serving come back from the toilet food still sat there, 10 minutes later food arrives after being sat on the serving side waiting for my partners meal to be cooked and us semi warm and steak is cooked rare (red throughout whole middle) Everytime I order a steak it is never cooked right.chef definitely needs lessons on how to serve food so meals are cooked and ready to serve at same time and how to cook a steak correctly. Safe to say will no longer be ordering steak from denmead queen wetherspoons however every other wetherspoons my steak has been served how I've asked it to be

Went to spoons today to grab a morning breakfast and sat down and ordered without too many issues. The food then got to us and was NOT what we ordered and after speaking with the staff, she was nothing but rude and aggressive. The same food was then returned to us cold. Don’t waste your time for breakfast here. Cowplain cafe down the road is much better.

Downloaded the app and ordering was so easy. Drink arrived within 1 min and food within 10. Staff were very polite and friendly. Wide selection of food including vegan yucky stuff. Great value.

Loved the prices. Martin knows the value of money and certainly does not believe in ripping the customer off. If Martin can make a profit then just imagine what the other establishments are making. WISE UP PEOPLE.

We go here before a cheeky round of Golf to fill our bellies with breakfast and coffee... ITS always super quick and the coffee be flowin,... aces!!!

We are regulars to this pub every other Saturday. I had a run in with this manager during covid but decided to let that go. But Saturday just gone was the last straw. We ordered drinks via the app with correct table number. After about 15-20 minutes no drinks came to our table so we asked the barman where they were. The barman realised that he had given them to the wrong table and went to collect them off a table of 5 young lads. As they had been sat there for about 20 minutes we asked the barman for new drinks as we did not know what might have been done to them. The manager heard this and was very reluctant to change our drinks. I tried speaking to the manager and he rolled his eyes up and rudely told me to get out of his space. I’ve never seen the manager smile and you can see it is rubbing off on his hard working staff members. If you don’t like your job then don’t do it as we are now boycotting the pub because of his arrogance. We did get new drinks in the end but very reluctantly due to the fact that we said that we did not know if any of the young lads had done anything to the drinks whilst they were on there table for 15-20 minutes.

Decent 'Spoons with nice interior and efficient service. In the winter there's a log fire that is lit which is a nice touch. Like most Wetherspoons, the toilets are in the next town after a 40 minute walk.

Did not even want to give a one star. I've bought a few espresso martinis in my time and the one served at wetherspoons in Waterlooville was like something I'd fill my car up with. Bitter and tasted disgusting. I said to one of the waitresses I was not happy that is tasted horrendous and was there anyway they could swap it for another drink. She then went to speak to 'T.J' she would not give their name. She said that T.J said there was nothing they could do. T.J did not even come over to ask me what was wrong with it. Just a straight up theres nothing we can do. Just another establishment that doesn't care about service. Also I think wetherspoons would benefit from updating their customer service training. If I get a response, well that's more than I got when I actually needed some help at the time. Disappointed customer.

Good Wetherspoons in Waterlooville centre. Been at different times of the day, never been too late but nice friendly staff and service good.

Reason for low rating entirely due to a table staff member. She was an extremely rude young woman. She argued about the table number we gave for our meal as she had left it on a different empty table! When my husband said he had given the correct number she actually said very aggressively 'no you didn't '. Obviously she's never heard of customer service!

We are three mature gents that visit this establishment 2/3times a week Tonight we see a young man called Cody ( new on the team) having to explain a major incident in the kitchen to all ghat had ordered food , and fair play he took it on the chin and explained the problem very professionally , and done his best to keep people happy , even though they where let done on what they ordered , please recognise this young man for how he dealt with the situation , while the manager just looked on ( as normal ) Cody. You'll have his job one day thanks for your efforts on the front line Ray T

Good weatherspoons pub Iin the heart of Waterlooville Town centre. Everything you'd expect from a weatherspoons, with the usual range of drinks and food. As always, the app ordering system is great! As weatherspoons go, this is quite a small one, but it's very pleasant.

Just popped in for breakfast and... They are pushing out burnt toast. We are sitting opposite the serving hatch and every breakfast that gets dished up comes with burnt toast. Ours arrived with the less incinerated side upwards, but we had a couple of crusts done to charcoal. And the people behind me told the server that their toast was burnt only to be informed "no its not" - against the blatantly obvious evidence before us all. Otherwise it was fine. The mushroom was still soggy to the point that I wander what they fry it in and the beans are tasteless, but it has always been so. 24/7/23 Had sausage, beans and chips. Nice enough, but... The amount of chips wouldn't make a chip sandwich (two slices of bread). And the beans appeared to have been a heaped table spoon full - would, and could, have counted them individually. Is this austerity? Sausages - no problem. Have noticed the chips have been getting sparse recently. My partner thought the amount of chicken on her pizza was rather thin as well, totally out numbered by the peppers. Is this really how 'Spoons is now?

Decent place in Waterlooville. Just at the main area where all the shops are. Normal prices possibly cheaper than main stream spoons. Toilets were clean. Staff were friendly.

Enjoy coming in here for lunch. Food is always hot and very tasty. Staff are lovely and friendly. Sometimes struggle for a table as lots of people with a refillable coffee but there you go

Absolutely superb. Go there every Friday evening with my dad for a few pints. (We're 55 and 82). Lots of lively groups, between 18 and 100 years old. Good food, great beers. A true community asset. Thank you Wetherspoons!

Last time i reviewed the DQ im afraid it was a no no for me , went in tonight for early tea . Wow what a difference , the food and drink was spot on , please keep the chef you have now , you have re introduced , tasty well cooked reasonably priced food , that Spoons is known for , not the greasy slop i got a few months ago , Keep up the good work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Barman/Manager is very rude and told me and my family to leave after a confrontation, because I took a photo of the menu advert.

Great! Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday afternoon. Found a window seat with room for a pushchair and highchair. Friendly, quick service! Really nice pub fish and chips!

I'm very ashamed, the food is great don't get me wrong, however they refused to accept my valid form of id for an alcoholic drink, and the server was very rude to me about my id when she brought it to the table.

What's not to like, decent food and beer for under a tenner if you want. Lovely clean pub, great atmosphere and Ideal location, that's why I keep going back again and again and again, also the menu's back to pre COVID days so more choices and the old favourites are back.

Service has improved on a Sunday still quite busy in the morning, breakfast is still going good still good value for money all in all can't complain to much on service to be fare,I only go on Sunday once aweek can't afford to go more

We had the worst meal we have ever had in here the staff was so busy on there mobile phone to come and top the coffee machine up with milk so I could have my drink that I paid for with my over cooked ( microwaved) meal the garden peas and mashed potatoes was so dry and hard we will not be returning on our next trip to the UK

Sadly the food has been pretty bad on several occasions recently. Almost everything under cooked, including the chicken!
