Came here for lunch with the dog and husband, the indoor dog friendly seating area had the most amazing view, the decor/furniture is a bit tired (similar with the outside, we thought we got the wrong place when we pulled outside as it looked a bit rundown). The menu was small but the food was pretty good, we had the chicken Caesar salad and nachos but it was on the expensive side for the quality. In summary, lovely place to sit and have a drink!

Pricey food (which is fine) but unfortunately zero quality control in the kitchen to support the high prices. Almost inedible pork belly bites (in a Asian dressing). Was basically a bowl of chopped up pork belly drowned in sriracha/Frank's like a bowl of soup 👎 £9. Focaccia with balsamic, tasted like malt vinegar, no oil, dry bread£7 👎 Mussels with fries and baguette, well only half a mini baguette torn in half not cut 🤷, mussels were tiny, cracked shells, and beards on so many we just stopped eating, sauce was thin and unappetising chips were good. unacceptable that it came out of the kitchen £18 Pigs in blankets looked like they were microwaved, thick sausage and back bacon very funny taste £7 Smoked salmon mousse, tasted good but the crustinis were stale £9 I went in to complain and the barmaid just said she's sorry that I'd had the experience, the manager was stood next to her but allowed me to walk away without really addressing the problem, I collected the uneaten food and took it up to the bar where another customer remarked at the mess on the plate, I said to them I wouldn't order any food here, that's when the manager suddenly could hear me and said I shouldn't be advising others about the food 🤣, we got a partial refund (just to shut me up I think) but that came with a load of attitude and slight anger from the manager who needs to work on his customer service skills. On the plus side, the pub is lovely the bar staff are also lovely and polite and they do a lovely German lager on tap (can't remember the name) views are stunning, great place to watch windsurfers, although the outside area needs a good refresh as is very run down. Shame no one is checking food before it comes out, lower the prices to reflect the standard or up your kitchen game.

We walked for several miles to this place. Whilst ordering a drink at the bar I saw food being carried out from the kitchen. The guy that took my drinks order could not serve the drinks (said he was not trained yet). So I stood there for a while until the ‘manager’ came back. When we asked if they serve food it was a resounding yes. So we took the drinks and menus and sat at the table. Minutes later I go back to place the food order, only to be told that they don’t serve food until 16:00 and it was 15:20…… This ‘experience’ is what I refer to as a sub standard. Not good when one is thirsty and hungry between certain hours. Especially when there is no notice online or inside this place and they tell you that only after you got the drinks. Not likely to ever come back here.

Thought I’d bring my family here for some lunch today being nice weather and right on the beach. Well, what can I say, This place really does deliver the whole package! From friendly staff, to quick service and beautiful food cooked to perfection 👌 My husband and eldest son both had the 8oz beef burger with sides of chicken wings and mac and cheese, the portions were big and everything was cooked just right. We ordered 2 kids chicken chunks and chips and they were really generous portions and the kids loved it (they are fussy kids too) I really enjoyed the crispy pork belly bites in Asian sauce. The location is great right on the beach, the sun was shining, all in all a really lovely few hours spent. Definitely compliments to the chef ☺️ We will definitely be visiting again soon!

I cannot comment on the food because i did not eat there. It did look really nice though. The place where the pub is situated is in the middle of a beautiful beach on each side. When you approach the entrance from the back the appearance of the pub is dirty, unkempt and and nasty. The sign outside is about to fall over and needs replacing. There is not enough umbrellas outside. The toilets need ripping out, they are disgusting.what a let down to hayling islands beauty spot

Mixed review. Staff were friendly. Met with a smile etc. Not a bad word to say about them. Food however was hit & miss. My wife said she enjoyed her food but the portion size for the chips was a bit poor. My fish was abit bland & my chips were undercooked. Would I go there again? Yes for a cider by the sea. Probably not for dinner.

Popped in today for a couple of drinks which do regularly and decided to have something to eat (we'd seen people having food lots of times and it looked really nice). So glad we did.. We chose three starters (chicken wings (hot) x2 and pil pil Prawns and focacia with balsamic oil. The wings were the best we've had in years, the prawns were beautiful - fresh and sweet) and the focacia was absolutely lovely. Flavours were amazing and quality of ingredients was excellent. Portion size was impressive with plenty for both of us. Service was friendly (as always) and food came out quickly. Would 100% recommend to anyone...thanks Inn on the Beach!

Re visited after a delicious meal before. New menu had a three course meal. To start I had the crispy hallumi salad followed by the vegan mixed bean burger house special . This was the Chefs secret recipe I was Informed. These vegan burgers should be sold in the shops. Bursting with flavours. ( HIGHLY RECOMMEND) followed by the cookie sandwich which I've never seen anywhere else before . I was so full up but I did not want to leave any. I went home very satisfied with every penny that I spent.

We were recommended this restaurant as we need somewhere to go to eat as the restaurant at the hotel was closed. When we got there we didn’t realise that we would have to pay for parking eating at a restaurant, we had no choice as we were tired, jet lagged and didn’t want to drive around. On arrival restaurant looked nice, we were met and was told to sit where we wanted, service wasn’t overly great and it wasn’t busy. We saw on the menu that it stated 12.5% would be automatically added to our bill at the end, which was classed as a service charge. I am British and I have never known that we have to tip or be charge service fee tip should always be given at discretion. We did ask for it to be removed and it was there was no way the service that we received at this restaurant all the quality of food warranted at 12.5% service fee. We both ordered fish and chips. The fish was tasteless. The chips on my plate was so hard I couldn’t actually eat hardly any of them basically they were raw. My husband had a pint of beer and I had a half a pint of cider and when we got our bill at the end I was shocked that it came to £45. I have never paid that much money in my life for a fish and chips and half of what was on my plate wasn’t even edible. during the hour that we were there not one person came over and asked how our meal was. People were walking past our table and we were basically just ignored. We are on vacation but if we weren’t, it’s a restaurant I would never ever go back to location, ambience yes but everything else sucked.

Nice seating inside and a lot of seating outside with great views of the sea and coast. Friendly staff. The menu wasn't to our taste, so we didn't have food inside. Some of the prices looked expensive for what was described on the menu, depends on what you're looking for in a meal. There's a fish and chip stall just outside the Inn, which I take is part of the establishment, that was expensive, piece of fish, scampi and 1 portion of chips came to £24.00, wasn't worth it, scampi alone was £10.00.

It's a really beautiful spot, however, we were told we couldn't get their usual food menu because they had a big party and didn't have enough kitchen staff. Very disappointing as we asked what time the kitchen would be open until before starting a walk down the beach and weren't warned it would be busy. There was a review a few weeks ago saying the same thing so this must happen often. What made it worse was that we were seeing people being served food who could only have arrived just before us. Nice spot for a drink though.

I was incredibly lucky to win a £30 voucher here, and today we spent a beautiful Sunday in the stunning location of Inn on the Beach. The food was absolutely incredible, and the children’s portion was extremely generous (pictured burger and chips). The views of the sea are stunning and the children loved to watch all the windsurfers from the window. The manager Dan, and his wife Paige, were so friendly and so brilliant with our children. Went here not last weekend, but the weekend before. Had never heard of this place before, nor had I ever been to Hayling island. However, my partner and I just wanted to pop out and try somewhere new. So glad that we did! The day was gloomy and overcast, but even still the atmosphere in the pub was warm, welcoming, and cosy. With wide views out to the sea. We even noticed, as we strolled back from a walk later that evening, that the conservatories seemed to have adorable, fairy style lighting on the ceilings! Food wise, my partner and I were able to have drinks, starters, and mains all for £75 - a good price in the current climate! The food itself was also exquisite, I personally had the Scottish Mussels and what a treat! I can't wait to have them again, took me right back to childhood holidays having Moule in France! Seriously couldn't have been happier with the experience. Can't wait to go back!

It is fairly priced in comparison to other establishments and has the best outlook of anywhere on the island (in my opinion). Dog friendly (in the conservatory area at least - not sure about main restaurant). We visited the Inn on the Beach on Boxing Day, hoping for a special post-Christmas treat. Sadly, it didn’t live up to expectations. The car park was a soggy mess, with large puddles making it difficult to find a dry path. Inside, the restaurant was festive but chaotic, with noisy diners, barking dogs, and cramped seating. Although we had a nice view of the Solent, one of our chairs was awkwardly placed in a doorway, which was uncomfortable. Service was slow, and the menu caused confusion. My mother, who booked in October, had been excited for the Christmas menu but was disappointed to find it wasn’t available for smaller groups—a fact that wasn’t communicated when booking. The regular menu was basic pub fare, and although there were options for vegetarians, gluten-free, and plant-based diets, there was very little choice for people with sensitive stomachs, like my elderly mother. When the one suitable starter (celeriac soup) was unavailable, we were left without a starter altogether. The mains were uninspiring but acceptable. My mother managed to get the last haddock and chips, while I settled for a chicken pie, though the menu incorrectly listed it as steak. Dessert was similarly disappointing; there was no crumble, so I went without, while my mother had a brownie she described as just "OK." The setting is lovely, and the staff were polite, but the disorganization, menu limitations, and lack of attention to customers with dietary needs made for a frustrating experience. It was a real shame, especially as my mother had been looking forward to this for weeks.

My wife and I have lived just a couple of hundred yards from the Inn since 1992 and have been there numerous times. Not surprisingly, we have always wanted it to be an excellent local bar/restaurant on our doorstep. It has changed hands a number of times over the years and it has been fairly good, fairly bad and frequently very indifferent food and service. We had not been for some time and went with no great expectations. The barman (sorry, didn't get his name but impressive tattoo sleeves) was very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter Ben, could not have been more attentive and helpful (give him a pay rise...) The menu is quite limited, just nine main dishes, (so docked a point) but arguably better to do a limited menu very well, rather than offer dozens of options done fairly well. We shared Korean chicken bites as a starter, excellent. I had the classic haddock and chips. About the size of a small whale, the fish was larger than the plate, the batter was perfect, chunky chips (triple cooked?) were just as chunky chips should be. Sadly, I could not finish the whole plate. My wife had the flat iron steak, medium rare, spot on. We thought thst it was a shame that on a perfect evening in early October, in such a setting, the place should have been full, but it was fairly quiet.

I visit with a young person who has autism and complex needs. The staff are always accommodating. He is free to be himself and safe napping in the window and even offered pillows to keep him comfy. Thank you so much for being a safe place for us. Blooming delicious chips too!

Very disappointing Sunday lunch. Waited 50 minutes for main course. Pork tough and soggy. No crackling as advertised. Potatoes probably cooked 2 days ago and reheated. Yorkshire pudding was just a large crunch. Desert never arrived and we left after 40 minutes.

Absolutely wonderful location! Would definitely only recommend having a drink. We were given a menu, and saw they were doing a roast dinner, and decided to go for this option. I had the vegetarian and husband had the pork. There was also a side option 3 for £12, which included cauliflower cheese, stuffing, and pigs in blankets. So we decided to get that as well. Waited an hour for probably the worst roast dinner I have ever had! We had already heard the waiter apologise for the slow service on the table behind us, and was debating going. I think the waiter could tell we eventually had enough, as he apologised and said they were plating it up. He said it was due to a large group. There was a large group, but the place was not full at all, so I was unsure why this would affect making the food, and it was not my problem at all. We waited as they said they said they were bringing it out, but I wish we had left before it arrived. We had waited an hour, so I was just happy something arrived, and the word I would describe it as was edible. Good job, we had the sides, as it wasn't very big. There was no flavour what's so ever. The roast potatoes were diabolical, as if they had been frozen and reheated. Minimal vegetables, and this Wellington thing, not really sure what was going on. Our sides, one of the worst cauliflower cheeses I've had, I mean how can you muck up cauliflower cheese? Stuffing wasn't even cooked properly and fell apart. Husband said pork was so dry and chewy. Didn't even give him a proper knife to cut it. Left the Yorkshire pudding as it was oily. Pigs in blankets were big sausages, but he said it was the best out of a bad bunch. No one asked us how our food was during or asked us if we needed any sauces, which might have made it taste better. We should of left, but after an hour, we just wanted to eat it, as already waisted an hour and carry on with our day. Waited with a card in my hand, waiting for someone to clear our plates and ask for the bill. But ended up having to get up and ask for the bill. The girl asked how the food was, and we said it was ok, you could tell we was not happy, but she did not ask further. Will not be returning for food ever again. A drink at the very most as a fantastic location. The paying for parking to is crazy, thank god we put 2 hours on. I actually don't know how you can not get one single aspect of a roast dinner correct? Like there was not a single bit of flavour, just bland. After waiting an hour we was expecting something great, and we got edible. Maybe a cookbook for roast dinners before Christmas arrives.

It's been some years since I have visited Inn on the Beach, although I am a frequent visitor to the island. We normally stay at an hotel there. This time though we were in our own time and so a visit. It's was quiet, 24th September but the member of staff was just as attentive as the staff had been in my earlier days there. The meals were excellent. Both my haddock and chips, and my partners king prawns were cooked and presented beautifully. Sadly it may be a while before we return but I suspect the standard will still be just as high. Beautiful views down the beach the restaurant lives up to its name.

As the name of the venue declares this pub and restaurant sits directly on the West Beach, south side of Hayling Island, overlooking the Isle of Wight and whatever comes next across the Atlantic, heading south. Great location. Parking, is controlled by the local Council and is basically Pay and Display. Once inside (or outside on the spacious decking), the bar is well stocked. The Fish and Chips, on this visit, was huge and delicious. The table service was youthfully enthusiastic, polite and friendly. It was perfect for a pub lunch whilst visiting the Portsmouth area

We called in here just for hot chocolates and a Guiness. Lovely atmosphere and although an overcast day it was lovely overlooking the water. Can imagine on a Sunday day it would be amazing.

Wow what a gorgeous place to eat on a warm and sunny September day. We came for lunch yesterday and sat outside on the upper deck with our dog. We had the haddock and chips and a couple of beers and a rose wine. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and peaceful location

I am afraid my experience was rather different from the general opinion expressed here. I have lunched here twice and enjoyed the food on both occasions (most recently dressed crab, a tasty salad with apples, excellent skin on fries and a good chocolate sundae for dessert). However the room where I was seated was shabby and not overly clean and the service on my latest visit painfully slow for no apparent reason. (The staff though were pleasant to deal with). The family group on an adjacent table left most of their food and refused to pay the bill. I like the view from the restaurant photographs of which are on this site.

Sat outside on the platform over looking the beach. Weather was a big plus as it was very sunny and not too windy. Had a great time drinking a couple of pints with a mate whilst watching the world go by. Of particular interest was watching the beach renovation work being carried out down the beach by these huge construction trucks making safe the shingle beach by adding even more shingle.

After spending £40 in the restaurant/bar I was told I’m not allowed to feed my 1 year old child anything to eat if I have not brought it from them. Their reason was ‘because we sell food’

Staff excellent, food is microwaved but good value, and drinks are reasonably priced
