Went to the farmhouse Portsmouth to stay went in for a meal Jack went above and beyond his job really good service food amazing

Dinner although was reasonably priced chips were cold, peas were cold. Tried to get a coffee at the end of the meal with our puddings, to be told that we could not have any coffee as no machines were working!!!!. Overall impression we got when entering was that the restaurant was tired looking and staff seemed rushed. Customer service was basic, no one came and asked if meal was ok.

Lovely staff, very helpful and kind. Great with the kids too. Nice food and kids can play, summer pass was great value for money 😊

Excellent service and great value. Easy to find and ideal for a stopover before the ferry. Our waitress, Marzena, was super, so attentive and friendly. I even had a wonderful, nutritious meal -sea bass (3 fillets!) with garlic mash and fresh green (not overcooked) veg. Barman was great too!

Had lunch with friends at the Hungry Horse Farmhouse Portsmouth Thursday 04/07/24. The meals were cooked well and were tasty. What made the meal so pleasant was the waitress Marzena who looked after us and made us all feel very welcome

We had booked to go here for a weekend break with our children as we were visiting paultons park for my sons 4th birthday, upon arrival I was greeted by aMember of staff who said “1 minite” she quickly disappeared then returned saying I need to find someone disappeared again then returned saying the same thing and then finally returning saying “we aren’t taking walk ins” which to I replied I have a reservation stood there for 10 minutes with my children for no reason she took usTo the table where she threw 3 menus down rude. 20 minutes later someone finally came and took our food and drinks order the food came out before the drinks when the drinks arrived I asked for some straws for the children she rolled her eyes and stormed off without giving me an answer I couldn’t believe it the waitress had brown hair and eyelashes I didn’t get her name but her attitude stinks I have been waitressing for 11Years and would never even dream of treating my guests this way we were also ignored by members of staff and at breakfast this morning we waited 30 minutes with hungry children no one acknowledged us we got up and waked out this place is an absolute joke avoid at all costs it ruined our weekend!

Fantastic Saturday took my kids to wacky soft play Robyn went above and beyond to make sure my kids were happy and playing games with them they can't stop talking about coming again to see her and Connor in the short time he was there did fantastic customer service when had issues using the app great team can't wait to bring my kids again

Had a lovely Sunday took my children to wacky warehouse it was surprisingly Quiet basically had the whole place to ourselves and Robin was perfect she played with the children dancing around like a lunatics having an amazing time and she took our food order and made sure we were having a great evening as well as the children couldn’t have asked for a nice lady to have spent time with will definitely be returning my children couldn’t get enough of her attention and the deserts and neither could I Goldstar all around best staff we have had the pleasure of meeting since lockdown lifted

Cannot fault our visit at all! Would highly recommend one member of staff in particular, Claire, as she went above and beyond during our visit. She made the visit worry and problem free. Such a great family focussed place to visit. Thank you for a great time out....especially not having to do the dishes!!! Will be back!

I came to wacky with my nephew to enjoy an afternoon off fun and that's what we had food was great service was amazing couldn't thank paige enough she was amazing with kids and the food was good. Was a lovely afternoon for sure will definitely be coming back.

Served by Amy who was chatty to our children and very friendly. We didn’t book but were sat quickly. East to order food and drink on the app and everything came hot and fresh. Only grumble is the slide is broken in the kids park which was a shame.

Came in for breakfast thus morning wearing our pj's. Had a very enjoyable time. Kids loved it thought it was very f unny wearing pj's to a pub to eat. Myself and my friend came to the farmhouse for lunch. We were advised the best/most convenient way to order which was via the app which was fine, however neither of us are ‘techy’. Lucy came over and explained how to download the app to order and pay on there. So easy, will definitely use this way of ordering in future. Lovely food, great service and an overall lovely catch up with my friend :-)

Visited Friday at soft play paige was amazing helping with my daughter who has additional needs and making sure her stay was amazing

Fab breakfast , excellent service from Pam and Hayley who made sure everything was ok , both Pam and Hayley were very polite and definitely will be returning, food was lovely and hot and they fitted the all day breakfast to fit my vegetarian daughter.

My husband and I found ourselves in Portsmouth early yesterday morning (Sat 12th June) and went into The Hungry Horse at Burrfields Rd, and we knew we could get a good value breakfast there.When you go to a Hungry Horse, the food is pretty basic but usually well cooked and there's lots of it - and so it proved!What made it stand out was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, particularly our greeter, whose name was Jill. She made sure we had everything we needed and came to check that we were happy with everything a little later. She was friendly and helpful and it really made a difference to our visit - thank you!

We came on a promotion for a free breakfast dressed in our pyjamas. The staff were lovely, particularly Pam who made sure we were well looked after! Steak was good but a bit rare, burritos and breakfast were also good.

It was lovely to return for bite to eat and few drinks following lockdown. We were very happy with Covid measures in place, social distancing, sanitisers, meet & greet at front. As we've not been out for a while, we were a little unsure what to select from menu. Therefore was pleased with suggestions Lucy made, which helped us choose what we wanted from the menu. Lucy advised us, process and options for ordering food & drink, which made things easier for us, as wasn't sure how everything worked. Thankfully, we also went for pudding Lucy recommended, and it was yummy. Lucy sure made are experience back out again enjoyable.

A few days ago I visited the farmhouse for dinner with my family for dinner, and it was a great experience and I enjoyed every moment of it. The food was amazing and the staff were great, especially Sam, she was really polite and sweet. The staff gives the farmhouse the name it deserves. Will definitely be coming back and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

My family and I visited The Hungry Horse this week and had a really nice meal. It was served promptly and was hot and delicious.We were served by Lucy who was very friendly and attentive. Lucy made sure the children had crayons and colouring paper to keep them entertained, we disnt even have to ask.Excellent service

Visited today for the 1st time since COVID and will not be back to this restaurant. Went for lunch along with my husband and was seated in what only can be described as the worst area to be seated. Sat in front of 4 foul mouthed lads that 3 were walking about without masks and making crude comments about staff and customers alike. Not once challenged. One of the bar staff was joking along with them. Moved outside for dessert and drinks to avoid them and informed the assistant manager who said that she was extremely sorry but 2 of the men were exempt from wearing masks and was extremely sorry and given a gift card. Very disappointed as this was our favourite hungry horse and service has always been good

My sons original birthday plans were cancelled due to covid so we decided to take him to wacky warehouse. Even with restrictions in place we had a brilliant time, my son thoroughly enjoyed himself and Claire (manager) and her staff member Amy were so accommodating, they made sure my son really enjoyed himself and nothing was to much trouble. They went that extra mile to ensure we had first class customer service, I can’t thank them enough. I couldn’t of asked for a better birthday for my son. Thank you so very much!!!! Katy

Well it’s been a long 7 mths plus of no soft play for Harry and Lottie. They were itching to get back to the farmhouse and we were hoping they would still be able to have fun In this new world we are all getting used to. Robyn and Ellie were our hosts and we were the first and only customers during this pre booked slot. We wondered whether the kids would be bored alone in the soft play but we needn’t have worried as Robyn and Ellie made sure they had bundles of fun and burnt off a few hundred calories which was much needed after they’d consumed a sharing sundae that could have fed the entire pub let alone two kids aged 8 and 5. Anyway in short, very safe environment, clean and extremely friendly team - don’t be scared to take your kids, embrace the fact that they can get back to having fun in a safe and clean environment. The food app was a breeze to use and service incredibly efficient. Great all round, well done to the whole team at the Farmhouse

Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome and advised of their Covid safe routines. Our waiter introduced himself (Charlie) & despite being continually teased by me he remained professional at all times (awesome sense of humour)! Food arrived in good time, hot and as we'd requested! I have to say we have now been here on 3 occasions and everytime we go it has been very good. The Covid precautions in place are good, (ordering from there app at the table) works really well. Staff are friendly and the food is good and great value. Dont really know how they can do it so cheap. I would definitely recommend.

Ayer estuve en este restaurante con un grupo de amigos. La señora que vino bastante rápido a nuestra mesa fue realmente agradable. Después de saludarnos y charlar un poco, nos dio tenedores y cuchillos y nos preguntó si necesitábamos salsas. Debido a nuestra indecisión, tuvo que volver tres veces a nuestra mesa siempre amigable con una sonrisa en su rostro. Ella trajo entrantes, platos principales y después vino con platos pequeños. Durante nuestra comida, ella vino dos veces para preguntar y asegurarse de que todo estuviera bien. Después, preguntó si podíamos pedir postres, pero ya estábamos llenos. Dijo gracias y nos deseó muy buenas noches. Esa fue mi segunda visita y para comparar puedo decir que durante mi primera visita con otra persona me sentí ignorado como su cliente. Esta vez me sentí especial y me trataron como debería ser el cliente. Sé que esta Señora, su nombre es Marzena, estaba muy ocupada, nuestra mesa no era la única, pero creo que sabe cómo hacer su trabajo correctamente. Muchas gracias Marzena. Mi familia y yo decidimos ir aquí a almorzar como solemos hacer. Sin embargo, cuando llegamos, dijimos que no podíamos hacer el seguimiento y la localización porque nuestros teléfonos no funcionaban correctamente, por lo que preguntamos si sería posible que lo hicieran por nosotros y las mujeres nos dijeron que no podía hacerlo. y nos dio una forma comprensible.Después de eso, nos sentamos en nuestra mesa y las mujeres dijeron que alguien vendría a tomar nuestro pedido ya que no podíamos hacerlo a través de la aplicación. Cuando nos sentamos, esperamos media hora a que alguien se acercara y tomara nuestro pedido, incluidas nuestras bebidas. Después de mi revisión de la semana pasada, que fue respondida rápidamente. ¡Se rechazó la oferta de un vale para su información!La cocina ciertamente se ha redimido esta semana. El personal de recepción fue, como de costumbre, excelente y eficiente.¡El desayuno de hoy fue 'espumoso'! ! Bien cocido, caliente y servido rápido. Se ha restablecido el servicio normal. ????

No está mal, comida barata, alegre y buena. No esperes nada elegante, pero está bien. Había un grupo de 8 toda la familia que se sentaron en mesas separadas.Comí solomillo con patatas fritas, 3 - 4 aros de cebolla rebozados, pagué extra por 4 trozos de salsa de surf o langostinos y pimienta. Sí, un bistec frito con un poco de grasa, las patatas fritas estaban bien, los aros de cebolla y las gambas estaban un poco empapadas. El resto pareció disfrutar de sus comidas, pero todos estuvieron de acuerdo en “nada para gritar. "Sí, volveremos y todo el personal fue muy servicial y agradable.

Myself and my friend visited on Sunday the 20th Sept thought we would visit for a roast... We ordered the beef who h stated hand carved what we got was very thin slices of packet beef ! The mash tasted of powder there was a tiny bit of gravy on the beef had to ask for a further 2 jugs of gravy , menu stated that it would be replacing green beans and broccoli with peas and parsnip... peas are already on the menu ,the potatoes were seasoned which was hot so my friend was unable to eat hers, there was no I am clean sign on the table which is a promise to say that the table has been sanitised, and when we got the bill were shocked to see that we were charged £1.60 for 2 shots of blackcurrant for a cider and black! Not the meal we was looking forward to , very disappointed.

First time eating out anywhere with my husband since covid 19 even with covid actions in place as in self guarding we where left very dissapointed in the meal itself espically when the roast dinners have always been a hit here with family and friends..Dinner was dry stuck to plate not enough gravy and veg undercooked extremely dissapointed...We watched the tables being cleaned however chairs are not being cleaned and where's the first place hands are going yes backs of chairs to pull them out ...Definitely would not recommend shame but won't be back for a roast any time soon .....

Booked a table for an afternoon meal. Upon arrival had to sanitise hands before entry with sanitiser at entrance. Greeted by an amazing member of staff, and shown to spotlessly clean table. Socially distanced from other diners, Menu given was disposable and had a sheet regarding track and trace that took seconds to fill in and every member of staff was wearing masks. Ordered meal, Amazing food cooked to perfection and table service was very professional. Could not fault anything, Well done to all members of staff and Greene King for making a difficult situation for everyone so easy flowing. 10 out of 10

This was the first time we had been to the Farmhouse since lockdown. We went for the quiz. Their social distancing measures are good.The only thing that was awkward was you couldn't buy drinks at the bar where we played the quiz. You had to go into the main restaurant and queue up to order drinks. That can get busy with people ordering food, so you can lose a team member for parts of the quiz. As we had gift vouchers to pay for our tab we could not use the app. We set up the tab as usual and nothing was said. There was 6 of us in the group and we had a few rounds. Three people on alcohol and 3 on soft drinks. Went up to get another round of drinks only to be told you have hit the £50 tab limit! Never had this before and why were we not told when we opened the tab there was a limit?Our team member did not have the gift vouchers on him and there was a queue building up behind him and he couldn't really come all the way back into the other bar so he paid cash out of his own money! We go to a lot of Greene King pubs and they do not have a £50 limit. Why has this been implemented? Even if at the end of the night we had forgotten to say settle the bill, the pub can still take the money from the card that was used to open the tab. So, it is not a needed precaution for non-payment? It certainly was not because of bad behaviour either. People should be told when opening a tab that this is the case! £50 really is not a lot with 6 people and if food was ordered that would take it over straight away, so no point in opening a tab. Just crazy!

Went yesterday for a meal, booked ahead,and went to bar to get food order! Obviously everything is very cheap,however,that doesn’t mean they can slack on service, chicken wings came over with nothing, in a bowl just shoved on the table,no napkins nothing! Food came over, 5 mins later,just put on table, lady walked away! Can I have cutlery at all, and then a huff from the lady! If you can’t run the place properly without the staff, don’t take so many bookings.

Came down form Leeds for a family visit and mealBooked table for 8First round of drinks took 20 to 25 minutes to arrive Ordered food 45 minutes to arrive 8 meals and 1 drink ordered ONLY 7 meals served 2 sirloin steaks ordered rare but even so under cooked and COLD and 1 full gristle Then had to Wait 45 minutes for missing meal. Offered 3 meals removed from bill but would sooner had all meals served and cooked properly. Told that waiting time was due to staff shortages etcIF THEY CANT SERVE THE MEALS AND DRINKS due to staff shortages then they should not take the Bookings Spoilt family meal after waiting so long due to lockdown Stopped at hotel Room 233Don’t bother to book food crap service even worse You will be disappointed

So we arrived here and sat in the garden and ordered our food and drink via the app. We waited about 25 minutes for our drinks to come out and over 2 hours for the food! The wait time is not given via the app as we wouldn't have bothered ordering had we known breakfast would be closer than dinner! We asked numerous times and kept being told another 15/20 minutes. By this time it was pitch black in the garden and we had to be moved inside. Eventually after 2 hours we finally got our food which was not their usual standard at all. My husband's sausages were raw in the middle and they had run out of rice on curry Wednesday so substituted it for chips without telling me! After questioning this he said oh yeah that's something else that doesn't work on the app either!!As we had waited so long I just ate what was served to me as was so hungry July this point. The waiter went on to say that the long wait was due to the government scheme and too many people ordering food.....surely they should limit the numbers and stop taking food orders if they can't cope?!Rating would have been alot lower if it wasn't for the staff trying so hard. They ensured everyone was sanitising their hands and adhering to one way system, all wearing ppe and really trying their best in these times. From a safety point of view we felt safe but starving and losing the will to live lol.....will go again but avoid Monday to Wednesdays I think as pretty cheap to eat there anyway.

Booked table for 12.30,was shown our table by waitress who seemed very stressed,ordered food and drinks,drinks arrived after about 5 mins.However by five past one no sign of food ,managed to grab a waiter who went to find out where are good was,told us would be a further fifteen mins,hubby went to order a drink from bar as no-one had asked if we would like more drinks while we waited,he was told he would have to join large food queue so came back to table and asked a waitress how to get a drink she said she would find out never saw her again,good then arrived but had to wait for cutlery and sauces.Hubby steak was tough and my meal was not very hot,no-one came to ask how are meals were.Didn't complain as waited this long just wanted to eat up and go didn't order sweets as saw other people's ice cream desserts had melted before they got them,won't be coming back in a hurry l

Wait for food was only half an hour and freshly cooked.. very friendly staff and nothing to much trouble... value for money and very impressed as they seem to have got the eat out help out thing off to a flying start... will be back again next week

We visited the farmhouse for dinner and we were greeted by Marzena, she was very professional and welcoming. Throughout the evening we had a lovely dinner, the service was equally fantastic. Post dinner Marzena arranges us a table outside so our children could play outside, complying with the Covid guidelines. Marzena was helpful throughout the whole evening so thank you.

Brilliant day and evening out. Atmosphere is great, staff friendly and service fast. Had a great evening with friends for the football. Melissa and Billy in particular provided exceptional service.

All very clean and controlled, loved the foot pump hand gel. We used the app to order and pay for our food and drink which arrived in double quick time. we booked to come over as a family of 4 and a baby and couldn't wait as haven't been since end February.We were shown to our table and given a high chair for baby.We ordered food and drinks from the app and our drinks came pretty much straight away with our food not far behindThe food was lovely and we had the big plate specials for 7.50 which is an amazing deal.the menu was the full menu as well when a lot of places are offering a limited menu which was a bonus. we had our food and ordered another 2 rounds of drinks which came straight away.The staff were very attentive and had all the protective masks and visors on which is challenging for them now.All in all thoroughly enjoyed and if people are scared to go out then please don't go and support these places and the staffvery well done we will be visiting again very shortly

Me and my boyfriend went to the Hungry Horse at the end of February. It was super busy when we arrived and had to wait a while for our food but it was definitely worth the wait! The food was delicious, and the servings very generous. The staff was so friendly and nice, and quick to clear the table. When we ordered our desserts the restaurant was a lot quieter and we got our desserts really fast. It was all smiles the rest of the evening.

What a delightful time, also the egg headed Lloyd did wonders by serving me excellently despite his autism bravo

Here for a midweek breakfast, budget prices and budget ingredients. Get a table , find the number, order and pay at bar and food delivered to table. Service was good.

Excellent and friendly service. Food served on time. Food tasted great. The only downer was small children running around unsupervised.

Last time we came was great but this time very disappointing. We ordered the Wed special curry. The beer offered wasnt available so we was offered an alternative but wasnt told we would have to pay the full price as not part of the deal. We were asked which fruit juice we would like so ordered pineapple. Again this wasnt part of the deal so was charged full price. I know we should have read offer carefully but should have been told when ordering what was included in the curry deal before charging us the full price. When curries arrived, one of them wasnt what we ordered. Very unhelpful staff. Food was good though. Will stick to The Sovereign in future.

We came for a meal last nite and was served by kyesha( green & pink hair) she was very friendly and nothing was a problem, made our visit so much better , we loved her hair was nice to see not plain and boring like the others

Had lunch here yesterday with my family, the waitresses were rushed off there feet and looked like they were short on staff. Lucy served us and was really friendly and helpful and couldn’t have done more for us even though there were lots of others to serve. Would definitely come back if Lucy was working

Friendly staff, food arrives quick and hot every tme, I visit weekly as I am a pompey supporter and travel 200 mile round trip each week, far better value than harvester

Staff was rude. Made to clean up a drink spilt by a wonky table. Told to get are own.Cutlery as the staff thoughts way

Visited the Monday of half term, a lot busier than usual for a Monday evening but still received the usual great service and food. Ordered on the app drinks were received within minutes by Danielle from the bar and one of the kids were being particularly awkward when food came out but Lucy sorted it straight away. See if you again soon.

The meal was great and it had a great atmosphere. The woman that served me (Haley) was really friendly and helpful with all of my queries about the food. Would eat here again.

Very busy maybe that reflected the poor service. However there is no excuse for toilets out of order. Tried to order Jumbo Cod and Chips but not available. No tea and coffee again. Table was dirty - long wait for food. We will not return to this Hungry House - others under this banner are far better

Called in for a light bite for tea. Food was nothing to shout home about, The salad was swimming in dressing,which ruined it ! The chilli was not very tasty and the jacket potato was well past its sell by date! The pub wasn't very busy although it was only 4 pm. Not somewhere I would rush back to eat .

Great place for a cheap good quality food and great for the family and kids. The screens in the booths are good saves the kids in there iPads

Had dinner with my family at the farmhouse this evening, we come here every so often and I have to say every time we have attended I cannot fault it. Some people have a lot of bad to say about this restaurant but I have never experienced any bad service! This is perfect for families particularly with young children as there is a great play area (not badly priced food either). Staff are always friendly. This evening Charlie served us a few times at the bar. He was really professional and clearly took pride in his work and giving a high standard of customer service. Many thanks for the great service I and my family always receive from the staff here

Miserable staff, cold food, drinks unavailable, over priced play area for less than half the usual play time, dirty restaurant!

Had some trouble with our pudding, it was resolved quickly by hayley and she also ensured our table was well looked after. Good night

Was quoted 30 mins food took 50 mins Not a good experience Usually fine in there so disappointing to say the least

I visited for some lunch and a few drinks with my family and once we were seated we decided what we wanted and made our way to the bar to be served by someone called Charlie, his service and knowledge were very good, he was very helpful when it came to deciding what i wanted to drink and the drinks were all served perfectly...

Had a few drinks in here today great service by Barman Charlie. Really friendly and quick service from him. Definitely will come back

My friends and myself were very pleased following our recent visit. Clearly at time of our visit it was very busy & hectic. However, Lucy was very efficient and found us a table within minutes & cleaned the table as we were seated. Lucy was very helpful and friendly. We were also very fortunate to be served at the bar by Danielle, again very friendly, served us with a smile and gave good advise on items on the menu, which clearly was much appreciated as food choice was yummy.

Came to the farmhouse today with my husband for a lovely lunch, was served by Charlie on the bar who was exceptionally polite and gave great service! Thank you
