Complete waste of time, rode over from Dalby forest for a spot of lunch to find the cafe covered in scaffolding and locked up. Is updating your website, google and TripAdvisor so hard? Shame we can’t comment on the food or service. Very disappointed in the lack of customer communication

With the current Covid-19 regulations allowing out-door eating only, The Everley has plenty of tables in the garden so that you can eat, enjoy the views and get plenty of fresh air! My husband placed our order at the bar and he could see the young staff working purposefully and enthusiastically. They brought our food and drinks to us in the garden and checked we had everything we needed. We visited the first weekend cafes etc were permitted to open as some Lockdown 2 restrictions were being lifted. We were warmly welcomed.

We found this place last year on holiday roaming around the countryside, and knew we had to come back when booking the same cottage again this year. It's a lovely house with some pretty stonking views. It's not the most upmarket place in the area, but it's comfy, inviting and lends itself equally to nipping in for a quick cup of tea or lunch, or just lounging about for a few hours after a walk. Food is very reasonable and hearty, and just enough variety that I'd imagine most people can eat here quite happily (children included). Think sandwiches, jacket potatoes, cakes and scones, etc. We weren't travelling with kids but there are a few little activities dotted about, so if you're a young family and looking for a place to eat with child-friendly distractions, I'd recommend it.

Finally got the chance to visit here after many years of driving past and it being closed. Took partner whilst having a ride out on Mother's Day to kill a few hours. We were very impressed with the quality of the food, especially the size of the cake slices. The tea and coffee were also very good. Although a lovely sunny day, which allowed us to sit outside and take in the beautiful scenery, a log burner was lit inside the spacious interior for those who found the slightly chilly wind a bit too much. Service was polite and quick and it was nice to see that dogs, as well as children, appeared to be welcome. I'm certain we will be visiting again soon.

Went with 25 people for a baby shower for afternoon tea at £12.50 per head. The food was lovely but wasnt presented as we expected. It was a buffet. The scones weren't scones they were slices of scones, no knives were provided for the cream and jam. We expected it to be served on the tables on three tier cake stands which is what afternoon tea is where I'm from ( Lincolnshire). The amount of food served was not enough for the amount of people there. We had to serve our own tea or coffee at a large table (no teapots or cups or sugar and milk on individual tables) and only 3 teapots between 25 people, after that you had to go to the bar and order it at £1.80 per head. The tables could also have done with polishing, there were drink stains all over them. Having said that it was lovely and warm with a wood burner and the views were gorgeous, but they certainly made a huge profit today, I could have done that buffet for £50.

I used to come here as a teenager decades ago when it was a pub so was interested and intrigued to find out how it has been turned into a tearoom! I've now been twice in a month as I loved it so much! The inside is really lovely with sofas and books a big log burner - I'd love to come back in the middle of winter but the café isn't open then :-( It's very big inside as it used to be a pub, but still very cosy. Outside are picnic tables and games for the kids with a lower field area with goal posts. This is definitely a family friendly place and also dog friendly! And of course the views are gorgeous! It was also very pleasant to find somewhere that doesn't charge a fortune for a pot of tea. The only slight criticism I have is that I was disappointed to be given marge instead of butter with my scones but maybe the butter had just run out that day. All in all, this place is definitely worth a visit if you're on your way to Hackness or Dalby or walking in the area

Decided to stop for a snack lunch here after a lovely trip along the Forge Valley. Had a Tripadvisor recommendation in front window so must be OK. Inside, not obvious where cafe entrance is but we’re old birds so we worked it out. Going into the cafe, no welcoming greeting, ignored by the staff. Had to ask how it all worked. Told to get a table, look at the menu then come back to the bar to order. Did as we were told and ordered jacket potatoes. They didn’t have any. No potatoes? OK, we’ll have soup (lucky choice as next people to order we’re told soup was off). Place is less than half full. We wait and enjoy the lovely view outside. Then we wait some more. Finally the “vegetable” soup arrives. Haven’t seen those kind of vegetables in my part of Yorkshire. But at least it had a nice skin on it. I could go on. I really do try to be positive with my Tripadvisor reviews which is why I would recommend this place for its views across the valley.

Called in today for first time in a year or so. Not at all good really. The staff were smartly dressed but might as well have been serving at a fuel station. No smile, no welcome. Just young lads whose heart wasn’t in it. Cakes were very uninspiring and coffee had no aroma and very little taste. 6 people in at lunch time on a summer Sunday says something. If i ran my business with this little effort i’d be bankrupt.

Was taken here whilst on holiday with a friend, I wasn’t disappointed the views were amazing and also the food we ordered a local and cheese and onion panini and a bowl of chips between us. The chips came in a large bowl enough to feed two you would have trouble finishing them on your own the panini’s were accompanied by side salad and coleslaw all home made. The portion sizes are good. Would recommend to anyone passing to drop in you won’t be disappointed. We are going back next week. It’s also dog friendly, there are games to play and books to read in the main dining room also I think there is a selection of children’s toys to play with.

We called in the Everley Country House café on a Saturday lunch time, which is set in lovely countryside. It was a nice day so some people were eating in the garden. My husband and I popped into this country house en route to our cycling destination and were truly thankful for the lovely experience we had. It has a beautifully quaint interior that overlooks the picturesque surrounding countryside and the food is of great quality and excellent value for money. We came at 3.30pm on a Sunday, half an hour before closing, but the hosts were gracious enough to let us still order a burger meal (very tasty local beef) and a sandwich, which were brought to us by very polite staff. The indoor seating area has both dining tables and sofas to recline on, plus a variety of boardgames to play with which gives the place a very open and homely feel. Although we didn't, you can also eat/drink in the spacious back garden which is right on the doorstep of the valley. We would highly recommend stopping by, whether you're a cyclist, family, or solo traveller! If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we'll definitely be going back!

We thought we would try The Everley for lunch, not having been for a number of years. The view and setting is beautiful however the inside does lack some TLC. Cobwebs in windows with several dead flies. Toilets, no soap, flickering light and leaking tap. It generally felt scruffy and uncared for. Staff were friendly and the food was good and well presented. It it such a lovely location but does require some expenditure which I am sure would then attract many more customers (only 3 there when we visited).

I first visited this place as a child a few months after it first opened in 1967 and I am still as fond of it as I ever was. For me, its view from the garden is worth everything. It is not in an easy location to make a thriving business but the current owners seem to be doing a wonderful job and gladly appear to be getting the business it clearly deserves. Now that it has a licence, it is all the better. Situated at Hackness this cafe and former hotel amply repays the customer. There's a good selection of eats and drinks available which can be enjoyed outside in a super rural setting. You're in the valley of the River Derwent, which meanders along unseen from the terrace. Woodland and fields abound and it is a peaceful setting in which to enjoy refreshment. This area has long been on the excursion trail from when charabancs would ply their trade from the railway station forecourt in Scarborough. These days you need your own transport or a taxi if you aren't a walker but the area repays exploration and the Everley makes an ideal start and end point.

There's a great selection on the menu, at a reasonable price! I feel as though the inside of the cafe is a little bit tired, but the views over the hillside are fantastic!!

The Everley Country House Cafe is set in beautiful surroundings in the middle of the countryside. We frequently stop there for their lovely food. The Everley is a family run business who pride themselves on good food and service. The menu is varied and my particular favourite is the ploughmans platter which contains everything it should do at a very reasonable price.

Called after a walk in Dalby Forest. Great little spot with it's views out from the back (either inside or outside on the patio) making it an ideal place for a snack or meal as takes your fancy.

Good food and drink in extremely pleasant surroundings with marvellous views from the outside terrace. Off the beaten track between Hackness and Forge Valley it is nevertheless well worth seeking out, providing welcome refreshment for the motorist and the walker alike.

We had been to the Everly previously and had a wonderful lunch there. We saw Open Mic advertised and thought we'd give it a go! What a fun evening. Atmosphere excellent, great entertainment and bar service exceptional! We would encourage anyone who was interested in music in a fantastic setting to go to next one and share this great evening.

The lovely scenery has always made me love the everley, however the fantastic food and staff who will do anything to accommodate their customers means the cafe has its own merits making it a great place to go whatever the weather. Every time I go Scarborough I make sure I have a visit and always feel very welcomed . The craft fair and music nights are a must see as well. Would recommend for family days and with friends, kids, and anyone who loves beautiful scenery and great food.

I don't write many reviews, but after the experience we had today, it only seems fair as a thank you to our hosts that we let people know about this fantastic cafe on Scarborough's doorstep. After reading the many favourable reviews on this site, my family and I stopped in for food while passing through on the way to Scarborough. It is safe to say that we were not disappointed. The food was delicious (we had the largest piece of coffee cake I have ever seen in a cafe!) and very reasonably priced. The service was most welcoming. The proprietor could not do enough for us and was most kind in fulfilling my young family's wishes. I can't recommend this cafe enough and will be returning very soon.

Occupies a large garden room/conservatory at the rear of a former pub/small hotel. Light, airy and spacious with lovely views across the valley. Extensive menu with daily specials. The food was tasty and well presented. The service was only average and having some soft drinks unavailable smacks of poor organisation. Room for improvement.

Visited this place after receiving a recommendation from a friend, safe to say we were not disappointed. There was a great selection of food on offer and the staff were welcoming and very helpful. Food was served to our table promptly and was enjoyed by all. Sadly we were too full to enjoy some of the delicious homemade cakes for sale but will be returning soon I'm sure. A must in the summer to enjoy the stunning views from the outside seating area.

High quality food, excellent service and a beautiful pub restaurant. It's not difficult to get it right, good quality ingredients and an excellent chef.
