Lovely atmospheric and charming establishment in a great location. The staff were super friendly and efficient - Amanda was excellent and could not have done more to tend to us. Food was good and service prompt and efficient. Great value for money too. A really good lunch with friends - thank you.

Absolutely dreadful. The service was virtually non-existent, the food was stale and unpalatable. We eat out quite a lot and I cannot remember such an awful experience. We had to ask for the main course plates to be cleared away because the so-called waitress was busy folding napkins; the dessert menus were thrust on the table with not a word spoken and in all it was a very unpleasant experience.

Best abbot ale I've ever had. Thank you to the the abbot gods, Jamie does a great job keeping the the real ale shipshape. Barkeep Michal seems to know when to pour the right pint at the right time.

There was a party of 11 of us, including twin youngsters and 3 dogs ! Nothing was too much trouble and we were all looked after extremely well by all the staff but particularly Alexa who served us. The food was well presented and tasted delicious. Dog water bowls and dog biscuits provided too. Thank you very much for a wonderful lunch and service.

The Sausages were very poor the skin had to be removed before you could eat them obviously cooked in a microwave, when we complained nothing was said except sorry also paid extra for a scampi side to my fish and chips when it came it was 4 of the smallest pieces of scampi I've ever seen so we won't be returning it's a shame it is a very pleasant place

We regularly visited this ‘local’ which showed much promise with a recent change of management! Our last visit on the 3rd august was a complete disaster: No servers in sight, an hour late for service, cold and hard garlic bread, dry and cold chicken, burnt burger and desiccated, old salad etc… see pictures And was offered a refund - it’s only been 2 weeks and nothing yet!!! I’m afraid to say we are never going back there and I would advise my fellow locals to stay away!!

Popped in for lunch on a miserable summer day's but there was a warm welcome from Courtney and Amanda. Food was good and so was the service. We have visited many times and always have a good experience

Love this place! Food is great and the staff are fabulous, so friendly and helpful; we were blessed to be looked after by Courtney today who is a whirlwind of loveliness; very professional and tolerant but also fun and mischievous - she adapts easily to the needs of her customers in a relaxed manner with a ‘can do’ attitude.

From start to finish the planning , preparation and the event was professionally handled. The buffet food was generous and of excellent quality. The venue was perfect and felt quite separate from the main restaurant. Quite a private affair. the staff were professional and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Charlotte for your support throughout !

Like virtually every other pub in this area, this is a Greene King pub, and the DNA is pretty obvious: ok food, ok beer, but always really nice and polite staff. They were having bread supply issues so breakfast was missing toast, no big deal, since we'll soon have no petrol or heating. A dog friendly place, you can eat in the bar area.

Pleasant team, nice rooms and good food.Car park was packed and spaces tight but i did manage to park okay.Food pricey by my Herefordshire values but it was good quality. I had the mussels and cod and chips.No Aircon but the team provided a fan.Shower was ace and super strong.Overall very good

First time that we have had dinner here. The meal was great but our waitress Melody was fantastic. Really friendly, great sense of humour and checked on us in a timely fashion to make sure meal and so on was OK. Our only gripe to prevent a full house was that customers had phones on very loudly that kept beeping...one customer was watching an airplane on full volume! Perhaps a restaurant policy asking them to be on silent or a word from the manager might have been appropriate.

Due to Covid I had a lot of trouble booking the date I wanted but Charlotte the Events co-ordinator was Brilliant, she went well beyond the norm sorting out all of my needs and requests with a laugh and a smile, nothing was too much trouble and was a pleasure to deal with.The venue, DJ and Chris the Manager & the rest of the staff made a great night fantastic and the food was excellent quality, variety & quantity for the 65 of us, and the cakes went down especially well!!Thoroughly recommended.

First impressions are everything, shame the Manager Sue is not aware. We were shown to our table and abandoned with no instructions or commentary. After being there a good few minutes looking at the menu and waiting for service, we went to find someone to check how we needed to order. A lovely lady, Lauren apologised for the lack of service we’d experienced. She then showed us that service is known in Greenking & was attentive. The food was good, given the time we ate was near the end of lunch service I accept that things like roast potatoes not being as good. The only thing that let the remaining experience down was over hearing the same manager be rude and have a conversation with a couple of staff members. One that was about performance, at the till next to tables of customers. Clearly management training is required, as this sort of conversation should not be done in ear shot or visible to a customer!Well done Lauren & Mihail for making it a good experience. Continue to keep smiling and doing your best for the customers, it is appreciated!

Booked dinner but when arrived told there was a wedding so service maybe slow. Fair enough but didn’t prepare us for the absolute terrible service and food. So disappointed and would definitely not recommend to anyone. We weren’t the only ones unhappy as other customers were unhappy too. Avoid if you’re looking for decent food and service

Absolutely amazing 30th birthday party held last night, the venue was beautiful but the staff made night! They were so friendly and fun, Lauren literally was the life of the party keeping everyone’s spirits up.

Lovely food, quick service. Very pleasantly surprised by the food, have visited here before and have always been satisfied by the service! Highly recommend the ely, they've always been very good and efficient!

Manager attentive at entrance and waiter quick to ask if drink required which served quickly and chilled. Menus clean and not been dipped in gravy as menus seen elsewhere! Not one staff member left to wait on table but three at different times so despite being quiet evening staff motivated. All food as described without garnish serving no purpose. Food hot and rapidly served after order. Only one criticism of food is chocolate brownie with out of packet artificial taste, without bitter cocoa taste.

Stayed for two night's overall happy with stay room was clean staff friendly and helpful. but in our ground floor room with could hear every foot step from the people in the room upstairs, this went on until 3 am

Great place to stay. Friendly staff, well appointed rooms and a fantastic bath. Although close to a main road the bedroom was quiet and overall a very enjoyable experience

We visited The Ely for a Sunday Roast, food is good and we were looked after by Sam who provided impeccable service, always with a smile and attentive. We will definitely revisit The Ely.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Ely. We were served/very well looked after by Karen who was very welcoming, funny and friendly. The food was nice and the drinks kept coming 😄 would visit again.

Although they appeared to be short staffed and run off there feet the staff were fantastic happy and friendly. Cannot fault the food here - I only has a garden salad with sea bass but buy god it was fabulous. May I suggest though there is an update to the app so that meals can be customised - I had no where to ask to remove an item from my meal. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I've just had an amazing breakfast, everything was perfect especially the fried egg. The staff are lovely and accommodating, food came out nice and quick and hot. Had a stay in Torquay & on our way back went to Nirvana Spa & had decided to not go home… just yet.And so…Ely Hotel was the last stop…& boy were we glad.Got there late & was still met with a warm welcome.The Room!!!!Clean, modern with a classy country feel.CLEAN!!!!!The breakfast was also great & pleased to not have to eat of sticky tables!!On leaving, there was an absolute darling at reception that made us want to come back, even if it was to have drinks & discuss cleaning rooms :))Definitely revisiting again soon xx

We went to the Ely this afternoon/ evening with 3 people with multiple disabilties. The staff where so accomadating helping us move chairs and making sure the people we support where comfortable. The staff where amazingly patient with the people we support waiting for them to decide what they would like and chatting with them. At the end of the meal we needed to spilt the bill up and pay by cash which we where supported to do with no problems. The staff where so lovely and plesent throughout our time there and we are so pleased with how everything went. The meals where so resonably priced for what you got it was great we will definatly visit again thanks :)

Here for a short time for work and was looking for a venue to watch the England game, so we tried The Ely. Great pub and service, in particular Lauren, who worked tirelessly throughout the night to make the night run smoothly for everyone, under a high demand, will be sure to return again if ever in the area.

We went to The Ely to get some food after work and watch the football. It was really busy and all of the staff made a great effort to look after us all, especially Lauren. We'll definitely keep coming back when working around this area.

Visiting the area for work, came in for a few drinks and a meal, the England game was on but we hadn't booked. Lucky for us a very helpful member of staff, Lotti, managed to sort us out a great seat. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely amazing restaurant and bar, had the absolute best service by the lovely Lauren and not to forget the splendid dessert by Callum the chef. Can’t recommend enough!

This is a fabulous hotel with great staff, the rooms are spotless, the bed was very comfortable and the price was incredible. I can't recommend this place enough!

Highly recommend food was fantastic traveled from Ireland. Have been in a few Greene Kings and this is by far the best. The staff where very nice and made us feel at home. Lottie went above and beyond to ensure we had a great evening! Will make this a must stop when working in the area again.

Staff very helpful in checking food allergies and good selection available for Gluten free including puddings, cheesecake was very nice. Disappointed with main meal, Hunters Chicken, texture of chicken was as if it had been previously cooked and reheated in microwave.

Booked a table to take some friends here for lunch as the reviews seem to be very good. Oh dear, have they changed the chef. The food was less than satisfactory and my friend was so put off about a big slab of bacon being put over the top of her hunters chicken that she actually complained. They did take the price for the meal off of the bill but the other meals we not very good either. My husband's pate had thick fat over the top, the bread with the soup was stale and the lasagne had been heating up so long it was nearly burnt in some places. The only good word I have would be the waitress who was very attentive and apologetic. Sorry but we will not be coming back.

I was met at door by a friendly waitress lauren who took us to our table and explained either table sevice or odrer on the app, i prefer table service. Lauren explained everyhing to us and also said about our nearest toilets and exit areas which ive not had in other restaurants , also would like to thank the bar staff when asked lottie , so friendly have come in to watch the football and have had a lovely experience, great staff will come again.

We have been coming to The Ely for many years. We have always enjoyed the service and atmosphere which is that of a welcoming family establishment. The Covid precautions are upheld better than other pubs we have visited recently and the staff are always friendly.

If you like plenty of food this is the place to go. The food was plentiful, very tasty .. The roast turkey lunch was amazing with the selection of vegetables and the meat was very succulent. As soon as this latest lock down is over I will be back.

I stay here frequently for work at the moment and have found the hotel consistently clean and comfortable. All the rooms are of a good size and are modernly decorated.The staff are pleasant and friendly too; If eating in the pub next door all food is good solid Greene King menu approved.Courtney is very polite and helpful in mornings when serving breakfast though to be fair the same is also true of the evening staff.Highly recommended.

We came here for a business breakfast (my colleague chose the venue). I don't know the area so I haven't dined here before but I really was impressed. The choice of food was great and the restaurant had a really nice vibe. Our Server Pip was attentive and friendly and made sure I had enough milk for my tea (most places really skimp on the milk).

Visited The Ely this morning for a breakfast with my husband. There was a large selection to choose from at a very good price too. Our waitress Pip was really helpful when I told her I was gluten free and pointed out what options there were for me. I opted for the eggs royale with gluten free toast and it was delicious. My husband ordered the full English breakfast and he loved it. The restaurant looked lovely with all the Christmas decorations up and everyone was so welcoming.

We stopped by for a bite to eat before travelling back home after a business meeting. The food arrived swiftly, and was very good and the service excellent - thanks to our waitress Pip.

Visited The Ely restaurant last night with my partner and had one of the best meals we've had in a while. The service couldn't have been any better and the food came out very quickly and tasted amazing. Our waitress Pip was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. I stayed here with my husband and daughter last week for my sons passing out parade, the rooms were clean but only had one towel but was quickly resolved by the hotel receptionist Kiera. Good location with shops nearby. Breakfast was good, would stay again.

I had such great service regarding my party booking. Lynn Turner was extremely helpful, she went out of her way to help me. The manager also was extremely helpful. I can honestly recommend the Ely as a party venue.

My family and I had Sunday lunch here. We were greeted by a very friendly team. Our waitresses, Lauren and Holly made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. My daughter was excited by her kid's meal, as she got to make her own wrap. The Sunday roasts were huge and delicious. I really recommend the crumble and custard for pudding, as it was amazing! I will definitely be returning as soon as possible.

Nothing outstanding about this big greene king pub, except for the really personable and pleasant staff. We use this for a breakfast sandwich and cheeky Guinness on a sunday brunch dog walk.

I can honestly say that I have never had as good food as this before from a pub chain type restaurant. The menu selection is amazing and good value The quality and presentation is 1st class. The service is friendly and very timely.

Came to this hotel for a short stay and the staff especially Holly was fantastic and made our time so easy the food was fantastic and at a cheap price for myself and my wife, lovely bar and restaurant nice setting.
