Went here on Christmas Day for lunch and the food was excellent you had a choice of starters and main and dessert followed by coffee and mins pies, the servers was excellent and you were not hurried between coarse, the staff where very helpful and could not do enough for you. The drink prices where very, and to top it all there was an open fire which was great. It lived in area would use a lot more one of the best pubs we have been in for sometime.

So where do I start, the pub it self is a little dated but to be honest I was there to eat not nose at the interior and wow what I got was one of the best meals I've ever had. Beautiful home cooked food, full of flavour excellent value for money, this is what I call a proper pub that serves real homemade food not that cheap microwave food you get in other pub chains. The gentleman that served us was very polite and made us feel welcome, but the icing on the cake is the price it's just bonkers how cheap yet and how amazing the food is, so if you are a local or just driving through street and find yourself peckish then stop in, you wont be disappointed. Me and my dad will definitely be back.

Called in for lunch on Friday 8th February 2019. Had One of the specials which was reasonably priced especially with the OAP discount. Drink prices are also competitive. The pub itself is not particularly attractive inside but makes up for this by being friendly and welcoming.

Enjoyed our lunch. Have driven past this pub many times over the years and this was our first visit. The food was fine. Nice and hot. Served with a smile. The prices were reasonable. The lady behind the bar was friendly. It just seemed a little like work in progress. We sat in the garden. The fence looked newly painted and grass mowed. It just needed some tlc. Felt it was closed last time we past. Perhaps it has recently opened. Ice in our drinks would have been nice on a hot day. Felt they were trying hard. Give it a go

Had heard there was new owners so wanted to give it a try. Went for lunch & walked into what felt like an empty pub, furniture & customers were pretty much non existent. The service was friendly & approachable but the whole place was freezing. Food took a long time & was ok. Was home-made which was a plus but the standard was lacking. Asked for the bill & got it on a post-it-note!! This has to be a first for me. Really hope changes are made to improve it as the place seems to change hands a lot.

Top marks for food. Really nice generous portion. But very poor environment. We were in the end room which was cold damp and past it's best. Main bar area much better but was full. Seems to be a pub for drinkers and darts. Drinks were really good price as was lunch. Would go again but wouldn't sit in the end room. Very friendly and welcoming.

As others have commented the first thing that hits you is the stale cigarette smoke smell as you enter which, especially being a non smoker I found unpleasant. The food when it eventually arrived looked like it was cooked from scratch not ready made bought in, but it was served on cold plates (a bug bear of my husbands) meaning it did not stay hot for long. It was a shame we had to wait an age for it too in a cold, dusty (thanks to the exposed blue Lias stone walls) room. As locals this was our first visit here, having heard good things about it in the past but sadly I don't think we wil be returning.

This used to be a friendly home cooked food pub but has changed hands in the last few months and is now more of a boozer and darts player's pub. The food is very basic but OK, service is shockingly poor and the atmosphere is that of a greasy spoon cafe.. If you are looking for a simple place to hang out with the tattoos and piercing crowd then this would probably suit you, but if you are looking for good food and homely and comfortable pub you had better go somewhere else. How the current people wish to have their pub is up to them, but this is not my scene.

We went here for diner but couldn't stay due to the overwhelming smell of stale cigarette smoke. Menus looked nice but it was empty even at 7.30 apart from a couple and their dog which was allowed to sit on a chair. Shame as I have heard some good reviews.

Arranged to meet a friend at the Elms for an evening meal , we walked in to find a 4 people sat at the bar and the bar maid / landlady stood behind the bar . There was no greeting or a " how can I help you " she just looked at us ! My friend asked if we could eat , the answer we received , " he isn't here" !!! That was it , no other explanation just "he isn't here " . Unbelievable . In summery if you're going to the Elms in Street to eat make sure "he's there" before you go !

I can only assume that The Elms is now closed. Called in after shopping at Clarks Village today at 12.30 for lunch, because of the good reviews. It was all locked up. Dirty outside, broken window, rubbish around the back. It looked derelict. I really don't know what is going on here. Returned to Prezzo for lunch

If, like us, you are retired and like to go out for a nice pub lunch, then you can't go far wrong with The Elms. It has become a popular venue for us when we visit Street or Glastonbury to do our shopping. Super 'home cooked' food from a good selection on the menu and at a very reasonable price for us 'Twirlies'. We can never resist the desserts either. Really friendly and efficient staff. A lovely cosy feel and a super open fire on cold days. Nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of parking space and we are always made very welcome.

well as my title of this review implies the Elms Inn was amazing its a small Inn just outside Street near Clarkes Village ---the meal was amazing ,the presentation of the food on our plates was top notch better than a 5 star hotel --the meal was cooked from scratch non of your brought in meals from a catering firm which sadly is used far too much these day--- the Inn Keeper & his staff were great cant wait till we visit our friends again who live near Langport as we will eat nowhere else .

We had to pop over to Street for some shopping, and decided that we would look for a pub nearby for lunch.A quick search on the net revealed the Elms Inn and Trip Advisor gave us a good insight in what to expect. What can I say?Well its as others have described. The service was excellent and the food even better.I had Liver Bacon and Onions, the gravy in particular was superb, and the liver tender. My Wife had beef chunks in a wine sauce, again fantastic. The meat just melted in the mouth. All topped off with a generous portion of fresh vegetables to share.Even though I was fairly full - I just had to have "home made" bread and butter pudding and custard. Most places where they say home made - you know that its not really. Here, home made means just that! It was delicious. The best surprise was the bill at the end....2 mains, 1 pudding plus a pint and a half of cider ... just a tad over £26 for the lotWell done - we will be back (soon)

It's only a small pub with great staff who give everybody a warm welcome. Dennis is a traditional landlord who knows all aspects of the business, he's straight as a die and understands what the importance of regular customers. This is probably the only pub in town producing excellent food using all fresh produce prepared on the premises (not frozen). The menu isn't vast but it's good and their Sunday lunches are superb, it's very popular!Nice little beer garden as well. All in all, good beer and wine, great fresh food, friendly staff, homely atmosphere...nice place!

We stopped off here on our way into Street. The menu wasn't large but varied with veggie options. I had a wonderful piece of pan fried cod and my husband Steak Pie. They gave you the choice of Mash, Roast or chips with any meal. It was delicious. The quality of the food was first class and the local butcher arrived with the meat for the next day. We defiantly stop there again as they had a log fire burning and the atmosphere was warm and friendly.

We have eaten often here and on evety occasion the food has been good and the service is always friendly and prompt. Hence our returning again and again! The staff always go the extra mile to ensure the food is as you like it. Although mostly we have eaten in the bar area, the restaurant which we have also eaten in, is cosy and inviting, not too vast and impersonal as many tend to be nowadays.

Visited on May Bank Holiday at 1pm, car park was full and didn't think we would get a table but had one left!We had two OAPs and was surprised that they had 2 courses for £6.50 which is great value for homecooked fresh food (and not the usual OAP meal - which usually fits on a saucer!)Don't know if it was the landlord or barman but was very friendly and told us to take a seat and they would get our drink order for us. The lad who got our drinks and food order was such a happy chappie (again unusual for any one working on a bank holiday to have a great smile and not false!)The menu is just right not crazy amounts but enough, roast, salads, usual pub grub and specials. As we were 4 in our party we had 3 different meals and they were all wonderful, the plaice - which replaced the cod which had ran out was the best I had ever had, lasagne again was fresh, home cooked a good size! the cold meat salad was great - the beef was wonderful.Desert was again covering all tastes and we had 4 different ones, the jaffacake trifle looked a bit sloppy but tasted great and the creme brulee was best I have had!The best way I can describe this pub was extemely friendly, great food and value for money. Toilets were clean but not modernised and to be honest the whole pub had a lived in but homely nice feel to it - the opposite from the usual modern chains of pubs which I describe as 'all fur coat & no knickers!' i.e flash looking toilets etc but awful food and no service.Anyway big thank to all at The Elms - we will return and this time my husband will leave a tip! - really sorry he paid by card and didn't realise graditudes needed to be added.

I went to the Elms for Sunday lunch last week. Hadn't booked, but should have. Slight hiccup finding us a table but we were given a nice one in the window. Food turned up very quickly, all fresh, all delicious. I have only visited at lunch time but do not imagine that standards drop in the evening, the lunches are excellent value - especially the oap specials!!. This is a clean friendly well run pub offering "real" food cooked on the premises. We ate here on a cold December Tuesday evening. There was a big table of 20 in another room who came in a little after us. The menu is short and very well priced, We had scampi and garlic mushrooms as starters. Scampi was served on a bed of leaves with bread and butter, plentiful and tasty. The mushrooms were a little wierd, more soup than mushrooms. The chef, hearing of our surprise came out to explain that we would not be charged, but my husband said it tasted good and we insisted on paying. This is an example of how helpful they were throughout the meal. Checking we were happy and had all we wanted in spite of the extra work of the very large table they were also serving. Mains were roast pork with a scrumpy sauce - yummy - and game pie - also yummy and a proper pie rather than the dish with a bit of puff pastry on top. Veg were really excellent, plentiful and fresh, we really appreciated that. A bottle of delicious house Merlot completed a really good, honest meal. No room for puds. The room was lit by candles all around which made for a lovely atmosphere. Sadly when we got the bill it was wrong which the waitress explained was 'nobody's fault' ???? Do do check your bill in case it was calculated by Mr Nobody. They did correct it but without apologies, such a shame as everything else was excellent.

My girlfriend and I decided to try The Elms out for a quiet Saturday night meal. It was warm and cosy with friendly staff. It could have offered some more ales, especially from independent local breweries but I'm just being picky here!I ordered braised lamb in a port and orange sauce and my girlfriend had a sirloin steak. Both were delicious, really hearty warming food perfect to combat the hideous weather outside. Prices were reasonable, the menu could have been slightly bigger but I'd rather have a few dishes cooked well than a large selection cooked badly.Overall, nice staff, nice atmosphere, great food, well worth a visit.

We had booked for 1.15pm however arriving at 12, we asked if we could move the table forward and they were very accommodating, even inviting us to come in, even though they weren't quite open, because it was raining...! We were a group of 10 comprising 2 small children, 3 teenagers and 5 adults...we were served promptly by the very friendly lady behind the bar, we all opted for roast beef which came with delicious fresh veggies, scrummy roast potatoes, these delicious parsnip crunchy balls and lashings of gravy! We all had dessert, homemade and sooooo delicious! The syrup sponge was perfect, the lightest and tastiest ever and the homemade custard divine! The children all chose hot choc fudge cake with ice cream and someone ordered the crumble....all of which were amazing!! I have to mention that the service was so efficient and friendly. (I have to mention that there was a table of 3 elderly customers behind us who asked for horseradish, the lady apologised profusely that they weren't offered the sauces but THEY WERE! I heard the young waitress ask if they would like sauces and they said no!) All in all this was one of, if not the most, delicious, good value, great service meal, experiences ever, would really, really highly recommend!!!! Can't WAIT to come back x

The pub was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night, and although we phoned in advance, a reservation was not necessary. The food was delicious. I had a starter and main meal. There were two real ales on offer – Buscombe and Wells Bombardier. I tried both and preferred the Bombardier. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I live in London and my Father lives in Glastonbury, so I am always searching for nice pub lunches when I visit. This pub was a great find. We had lunch on Sunday, and the food was delicious. I had traditional roast pork, and my Father had Salmon. Our desserts were as delicious. The staff were attentive, service excellent. The access to the pub was good as my Father is disabled due to Parkinson's Disease. The locals ensured our entry and exit was easy by moving their chairs and stools. We left with a warm glow having enjoyed excellent food and the warmth of the staff and locals. I highly recommend this pub. Through bitter experience over the last few years, there are many pubs in this area that are more visually pleasing, but serve average food and surly service. This pub may not be as picturesque as others, but I assure you that once within the experience is great!

During the week we recently spent in Street the food and the service here was the best by far. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and relaxed. Best real ale pub in Street bar none. Talking to people we discovered that several of them running restaurants and bars would habitually go to the Elms when they wanted high quality food on an evening out. Each evening that we visited there was soft jazz playing as the background music. We are looking forward to our next visit.
