There are some lessons to be learned here! Great food every time, service depends on the customer, we’ve enjoyed many a Sunday here a shame for us and hope the establishment continues to be able to pick n choose - warm regards x

We have lived in Hanham for over 10 years and today was the first time we ate here. We had the beef Sunday roast and I have to admit, it was delicious/faultless! The beef was so tender and the vegetables was cooked perfectly (not over cooked like I’ve had from most other places). The staff were very friendly and polite, so based on all that, we will be coming back here for a roast but also to try their weekday menu. Keep up the good food and service to all the staff at the Elm Tree.

This was a second visit in recent years to a pub I used to frequent in my teens. Celebrating a family birthday, we decided to go on a Saturday for an early evening dinner. The atmosphere in here is typical local country pub but there is only one large room with a central fire place. Staff are friendly and courteous. We ordered a meal from the specials board which is changed regularly. Dispite being the first group to order food, it did not arrive till 50 minutes later. Although it is advertised as all food being cooked fresh, this still seemed excessive for a small group. In fact, another group of people that came in after us got their food before us. We had no complaints about the quality of the food and would recommend it to anyone. By way, if eating here save some space for the delicious desserts. Just be prepared to wait a while.

Went to the elm tree last night for my mum birthday and order a steak feeling very nervous because of other pub steaks iv had in the past which are thin, flavourless and over/under cooked, however, the elm tree has fully changed my perspective on this matter. The steak my girlfriend, brother and I had was cooked to perfection(medium rare) was not bloody, full of flavour and just melted in our mouths on every bite. Truly was one of the best steaks I had ever had. The meal was complimented with chips a salad and tomato would recommend maybe having some mushrooms instead but that is personal preference I guess. The chips where great not flat but big fluffy and crispy and the salad was just some mixed leaves but went well together. Will definitely be returning here again soon to try more things on their menu

I have visited the Elm Tree frequently over the years, and always find the food beautifully cooked. The range includes good honest pub grub, and there are often other specials on offer. Tonight, my wife had a tuna nicoise and I opted for a home cooked quiche - both were lovely. I have never encountered a "drizzled with", or " done umpteen ways" or "jus" here ( thank heavens ! ) and I enjoyed this food far more than that I had recently at a well known restaurant in Padstow charging 2 - 3 times more. It is a straightforward local pub with good beer too - no corporate styling make overs ..." country pub kit 1A" here - just a lovely local, with good and friendly service, and long may it continue as it is now.

Booked for a family Sunday lunch. On the whole the food was lovely. It definitely had a home cooked feel. The prawn cocktail starter was a little odd because the Marie Rose sauce was at the bottom of the glass rather than being mixed with the prawns. This necessitated the whole dish to be tipped onto the accompanying plate and mixed together. The mains were good. The roast dinners were plentiful with lots of meat and veg. They took a while to come out after the starter but at the time this wasn't a problem. However, upon trying to order desserts we were told that the table was required by another party in 15 minutes. We sat down at 12pm and the table was booked again at 2pm. We opted not to order desserts, which was a disappointing end to the meal, especially as most of the party had decided not to order a starter in preference of a dessert.I would question whether 2 hours is enough time for a three course meal given the delay in serving the main course. I would also suggest that it is made clear at the time of booking that the table is required for a second sitting, rather than telling us 15 minutes before that we were required to vacate the table.

We visited on Friday evening - and for the umpteenth time had a really good meal. Dishes are homemade and wholesome, always freshly prepared with care and offer excellent value for money. There's good meat and fish and one it's of those unusual restaurants where they know how to cook a steak! At the same time the vegetarian options are just as creative and well made and not merely a nod at the non meat eaters. As ever we were spoilt for choice and went for comfort food this time - cod cheeks (meaty and not a bone in sight) and the nicely cooked hake lived up to expectations. Service is warm and friendly. This is pub food of distinction.

The service in this country pub was spot-on. We dropped in, desperate for lunch on Sunday having miscalculated and failed to book a very popular local competitor. It was about 2.30, but the staff were smiling and efficient throughout, with no sense of pressure on us to eat and go. The bar staff apologised that there was only beef or turkey left, so we briefly wondered if there would only be 'ends' available. We were delighted to be presented with warmed plates, generously loaded with vegetables and meat which did not look in the least 'tired'. The Yorkshire pudding was genuine and not tough and the meat thinly sliced. In all, I would be happy to return, partly because I saw tartiflette offered on a different menu board, leading me to believe the venue might offer some imaginative dishes during the week too.The seating is simple; country style tables and chairs. The decor is clean and bright. I don't know whether there is a disabled toilet, but the dining room looks possible for a person to navigate using a wheelchair.

Great staff, always friendly smiley people, great food, don't have much change on the small menu each week, but always have the classics on there. Some things are a little steep for small pub like this but still tasty and do cheaper meals if you prefer that. Probably only holds 14 tables max so be prepared to ring up and book in advance, always tables but the staff like to pretend they are 'reserved' when most of them aren't. Its to let the chef have a little breathing space in between cooking but its a little silly if they want the money they shouldn't have so many fake reserves out as the bar is so tiny and full of the old fogues locals people will not stand at the bar and wait they will just leave and go elsewhere.

Excellent chef! Bit of a wait for food but it's cooked to order so you expect that. Varied menu, something for everyone. We were a party of 4 and we all had different meals, each one was delicious. All well cooked and well presented, not something you normally get in you 'local' pub. Had to sit at table for 'last drinks' of the night but that was fine, we had a seat and were very comfortable. We hadn't been there for some years previously but will definitely keep returning if these standards are anything to go by. Well done all at the Elmtree!!

We came here with my father-in-law for a meal. The staff are very friendly and the food was of a very high standard. There is a menu for senior citizens in addition to the main menu. There is a good choice on the menus at a reasonable price.

I called for lunch for the first time in about 2 years as a family member has just moved to the area. From my visit, the pub seems to cater for locals & regulars. The barmaid seemed happier talking to previously served customers than dealing with me and a smile wouldn't have gone a miss. There is a good menu at decent prices with a specials menu for "senior citizens"The food took a fair time to come but the menu states there may be a wait as all food is freshly cooked so I can live with the wait. The lady who brought the food was very polite and the food was really hot & was excellent quality. The prices were good with reduced prices for Senior Citizens .Split decision from me on this one, the food was excellent but as a "non regular" I didn't really feel welcome.

Excellent homemade food. Great variety. Excellent service we had a few dietary requirements and the manager went above and beyond helping with these issues. My only slight negative was the time it took for food to be served. It was worth the wait though! I will definitely be returning.

Tucked away not far from Hanham high street off the Bristol Bath road this is a super country pub. The food is all Horne prepared and cooked. With real ales and lovely staff at good prices this is a great pub. But don't tell anyone or otherwise you may not get a table

Very friendly bar staffFood seemed to be genuinely home cooked and really nice, tasty and good sized portions. Good Value for money. Only moan was it was a lovely place to eat but didn't feel it was the sort of place to stay afterwards as it was dining tables and chairs and I prefer to sit in a bar area which was small. Will definately return

Went for a meal, and the food was excellent! The staff ensured the meal was 'tweaked' to my preferences, and offering alternatives.

My 2 daughters and I had just returned from a walk and decided to call into this pub for a cup of tea. We arrived at approx. 2.30 in the afternoon. There were no other customers in the pub. I asked for 3 cups of tea from the lady serving. She didn't acknowledge this but went off to make the tea. She gave me 2 cups of tea and then put her hand out for the money to which I said that it should be 3 cups. She then said 'I can only do 1 at a time! I've only got 1 pair of hands!' I thought she was very rude and I do not think that is the way to treat new customers. Suffice to say we will not be returning, although we had been studying the menus and thinking we might try a meal there at some time. I think she might need a lesson in good customer service!

Visited the Elm Tree Inn with friends on a Wednesday evening, booked to be sure. It was fairly busy, but could have got a table without booking. All food is cooked to order, so be prepared to wait a little while. The food was worth waiting for, good quality, well presented, and well cooked. Our friends were suitably impressed. Would recommend and will certainly return.

Walking in to the Elm Tree I was sceptical, but I can honestly say that it was the most enjoyable meal I've had in a long time! It's a REAL pub, with friendly staff who treat you like family and fantastic quality and priced food. A real joy to find somewhere that hasn't been turned in to a chain and ruined! The sausage and mash is huge, the biggest sausages I've ever seen! And the rest of the food was fantastic too. Cannot recommend this place enough for a meal in the local area, and worth travelling for if you're local too.

Had Sunday lunch here with my wife. Food was okay for the money - £7.95 for a roast beef or turkey dinner.Atmosphere was missing. We felt like outsiders.Cheese and nuts provided free at the bar if you can get to them. Some guy with a big belly and tattoos seemed to have the monopoly on them.

Haven't been here for quite a few years, so thought it was time w tried it again. Easy to park with two car parks. Well cooked food in a warm & friendly atmosphere. Service was slow, but we couldn't fault the food once it arrived, it was hot, tasty and well presented. The staff were very friendly. We orders coffees at the end of the meal - I ordered first and I was last to receive mine, each order came 1 at a time, I ended up waiting over 30 mins for a black coffee. How difficult could that possibly be?

Not been here for ages. We called in for light lunch, perhaps a sarnie or something. The chef came out to say she had some nice fresh cod. We did not take much persuading and ordered two. It did take 20-25 mins but that gives ample time to have a drink and a chat. The food was lovely, (we had the pensioner portions) perfect!! The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely call here again.

Situated near Hanham Mills, it is in a nice location which is usually calm and peaceful. There are two car parks each side of the pub so you can usually find somewhere to leave your car. The inside is well decorated and they do a really good range of food, which i found to be well cooked and very tasty. The staff are also very pleasant and friendly and it is well worth a visit if you are passing.

Lovely food and varied menu, but the desserts were very slow, had to chase them up and then they arrived promptly. Needs to get a bit better organised as it was busy but not absolutely full.

Garden Ctr is worth a visit. We went there to get some tropical fish from Parkers 🤔 Sadly Parkers are no longer tradeing.
