Very friendly staff. We had a delicious meal and really reasonably priced. Would definitely return. Digs allowed in the bar area.

It was a lovely place from start to finish, The Ellerby Inn was a great welcoming place to go, visited twice during our week away. We was welcomed by the staff and the locals and most importantly they are very dog friendly 🐾 the food was so so nice. The quality and choices made it very difficult to choose from the options available. They do an option of small or regular meals.

We stopped at this hotel randomly, we had a lovely lunch, chickhen curry and also gammon, chips, egg both really good. Staff very friendly too.

After staying at the Ellerby Hotel for many years and my last review of this Hotel was 'wonderful' unfortunately following my recent visit this has changed. Positives -Food very good, staff very good, service very good. Negatives - I had to navigate around a number of dogs in the bar area when trying to get to the dining room. It appeared that no boundaries regarding dogs exist in this place. Dissapointed

we used to go to the ellerby years ago, it was always good, they did a chinese banquet, anyway with not being for a while we mentioned it to some friends who were looking for somewhere different to try and reported back that they thought it was really good. so i booked a table for my wifes birthday, tuesday evening, 5 people ages 20 to 58 everyone enjoyed their food, 5 different dishes, i had the steak pie and i recommend it, really good, others were parmo, cod, linguini and crab, everyone pleased, so much so we all had a dessert, im not big on desserts so cant comment too much, they were good as a minimum must say the staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, a lovely touch on desserts the staff put a candle on my wifes dessert as they were aware it was her birthday and got a happy birthday song going well worth the 30 min drive, will be back

We chose to stay here one night…our place has everything, a beautiful tub, a wonderful vanity table that faces a window that overlooks a picturesque garden that has a vineyard feel to it. It is so near the beach guests walk to it while stying here… The food is amazing…parking is without headache and there are little nooks where you really can make the most of your stay here. Excellent choice, we will return and definitely recommend!! Lovely all around!!

High praise for this Inn. Staff are really friendly and helpful. We stayed in the rear carpark in our camper. Booked a table and oh boy they did not disapoint. The food is simple but so tasty, there's something on the menu for everyone's taste, nothing seemed to much trouble to cater for individual whims. The rooms look lovely, and well behaved dogs are welcome. Wonderful beer garden to siak up the evening sun. Highly recommend this Inn, will definitely be returning.

Visited in a torrential rain storm and were made to feel welcome by staff and locals Had a lovely plate of scampi and could not stop eating the chips! Hubby had fish crepe which was unusual but full of tasty fish and cream Been recommended to have the steak pie next time we visit, we cannot wait! Food was excellent value for money and Smugglers Gold beer is good!

Really enjoyable meals by all five of us. 4 oz steak plenty with all the delicious trimmings. I had crab which was gorgeous. Lovely tablecloths.

A warm welcome awaited us, the staff were so friendly and pleasant. The whole place was clean and well kept. Our food was served quite quickly considering the dining area was 1/3 full already on a Wednesday at 12:30pm. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great. The service was spot on and I couldn't find any fault. I even checked out the loo's and again were clean and fresh. We will definitely be calling in again!

We booked for dinner for 4 midweek. We were made very welcome and ordered as soon as we had looked at the menu. Very good choice of food and as a non-meat eater I was very impressed by the vegetarian, vegan and coeliac menus. I wish other restaurants would cater for everybody. I eventually chose crab salad which was delicious. Prices are reasonable and definitely value for money. We will definitely return.

Very friendly welcome, lovely large room and beautiful bathroom. All the facilities such as tea and coffee and toiletries. Breakfast was really nice and service was impeccable. My only fault was the mattress and pillow was too hard for myself, but this is a very personal preference.

We booked for Sunday lunch and a good job we did it was full. The beef dinner was fabulous the beef was so tender,served with roasties,mash and an array of vegetables. The leeks au gratin were delicious. Our dog was also welcome in the bar area.

We booked for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday, and it was one of the best we've every had. Plenty of meat, vegetables and gravy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Service was quick, and even our dog was given a bowl of meat. Pudding was excellent too, with plenty of custard (always a must in our household).

Visited this place for the first time after reading the reviews on here, was not disappointed. We had a lovely meal, excellent choice especially for those who have dietary needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our food here and will definitely return when in the area.

There are many pubs serving “pub food” of varying quality in this part of North Yorkshire. The Ellerby Country Inn is one of them and serves the best pub food for miles around. The scampi had once recognisably been prawns and the batter was crisp and delicious. The chips had obviously recently been potatoes and were fried to perfection. My husband had a small filet steak with chips and peas. So many pubs & restaurants think that bigger is better in the food department and so often it is not. I had some excellent sorbets for pudding. Service was prompt - but not hurried - and cheerful. They also have menus for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs. Only regret is we only discovered it on our last evening.

Service and food were excellent, it’s a cut above most Pub Restaurants in the area. It’s a little more expensive but well worth it. Well cooked, flavoursome food, nicely presented and very good service. The Steak Pie is gorgeous and very generous. The Haddock in my fish and chips was fresh well cooked and massive. Unfortunately my wife had the cheese cake and I had to finish it for her, honestly it was Devine. We were visiting for a week and went 3 times, thoroughly recommended.

This is our fourth stay here in the last 16 months and it just gets better and better. The owners and staff are so welcoming and made all of us feel so special throughout, especially our dog Milo 😁 who is always treated like royalty. We have visited many hotels in the whole of Yorkshire and have to say this is our favourite and already booked in for our next stay and visit to the restaurant for our birthdays. If you are thinking of visiting this gorgeous area of Yorkshire then Ellerby is a must stay/visit.

Lovely stay. Immaculate and cosy rooms with lovely touches such as Elemis products, and water and milk in the fridge every day.. Lovely shower and a very comfy bed. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious. Very dog friendly too. I would highly recommend the Ellerby.

The Ellerby @Ellerby Gorgeous country pub with really friendly staff. We were driving on the main road and followed the local sign "Homemade Pub Food All Day". Free Wifi with easy access. This pretty pub (and Inn with 10 rooms) was recently taken over by a local lady who worked way back here when she was 15/16 years old. We were impressed by the fresh food and homemade battered Whitby scampi (which was fresh and lovely). Spectacular smoked haddock chowder which I had to try. And a very good menu suitable for families and a special menu for vegetarians and gluten-free options as well. Toilets are new and immaculately clean. The biggest plus point for us was that it is dog friendly. We could eat in the large bar area with the open fire with the dog. There was another large restaurant area for people without dogs. They brought out a dog water bowl and even sausages chopped up for her! Home-made food served all day long and a carpark over the road. Oh, and there are 10 ensuite rooms which are dog friendly as well. So, I think we're going to be coming back here. Nice walks locally and a short drive to Runswick Bay, which is a lovely beach with rock pools, car park and a cute cafe.

Great food (try the steak pie!!), superb pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord, really friendly staff and possibly the most dog friendly pub I have ever visited.

What a lovely little find. Beautiful place in lovely surroundings. Not far from Whitby. We had room 6 on the ground floor. This room is disabled friendly with a bath and shower in a wet room with his and hers sinks and complimentary toiletries, nice addition of flannels with the towels. Queen bed in a large room overlooking the road through the village. Secondary double glazing keeping traffic noice down to a minimum as bus stops right outside. Two comfy chairs and tea making facilities with a fridge with free milk and water . Large tv with sky tv. We loved the room but the bed is as hard as rock and slopes at either side. For the quality of the room maybe look at investing in new bed. Bedding lovely. Outside our room was a communal conservatory for staying guests with Chesterfield sofas with a large tv with free sky channels. The conservatory looked out on to the garden with outdoor seating in beautiful surroundings, leading to a private carpark, free of charge, plenty of parking across the front of the hotel in addition. Dog friendly for those that chose to bring pets. I have allergies so not my personal choice but owners dog was lovely and is kept out of the restaurant and lays in the bar. Didn't fuss around people but was friendly if you wanted to stroke it, my fella did but I have to keep my distance but he was cute 😊 would we stay again? definitely !! We had our evening meal in the restaurant, food and service excellent, food not cheap but neither was the quality and presentation of the food. The 3 fish crepes where delicious. Good variety on the menu and decent portion size. Nice bar with very welcoming friendly staff throughout our stay. We had breakfast included and again couldn't fault food or service.

Just come back from having a lovely lunch. The bar man was lovely said we could either sit in the bar or restaurant. We opted for the restaurant. Husband had steak pie it was full of meat plenty of gravy and veg and not a pea in site as you get in a lot of pubs. I had the mixed fish crepe. Delicious. Piping hot which again is something you very rarely get now. If you are passing that way pop in you will not be disappointed. You can also take your dog in the bar area. Enjoy.

Such an attentive team! Friday pub tea for 2 adults with two dogs. Great atmosphere and staff were friendly and attentive. Cozy decor. Fab Baked hake and an amazing slice of beef pie. Good portions and beautifully cooked. Lots of home made puddings too. We were very impressed.

Booked for Sunday, hadn't been to Ellerby Hotel for many years, was feeling unsure as the Hotel had been a favourite of ours for years, both to eat and stay. It wasn't in my thoughts it might be better but it was, the staff couldn't do enough for us, the food was truly excellent. Can highly recommend.

We went to the Ellerby 3 times while on holiday including an anniversary meal. On each time the staff were helpful, polite and completely professional. The food was well presented, hot and tasted great. There was a wide selection of foods available.

We brought our residents from the local care home here in may, they enjoyed it that much they all asked to come back again today. The staff could not be more accommodating if they tried and friendly, nothing was to much trouble and again today was the same, the food was amazing even the small portions were huge, they made each of our residents feel at home and really did look after us all. The facilities were also disabled friendly with easy access to the lovely garden for some of our wheelchair users. We have already booked in for our Christmas Meal and look forward to it.

Found this little gem by chance. Lovely friendly staff and delicious food. Had Sunday roast, limited menu but what we had was amazing. Wished we were staying here too, really warm welcome. We’ll be back when we’re in the area.

Staying local to Staithes we wanted to find somewhere nice to eat on the afternoon of our anniversary. The Ellerby was recommended to us so we gave it a try, and we weren't disappointed . The village of Ellerby is beautiful. The Ellerby itself has the prettiest garden to sit in, although inside was just as nice we decided to eat outdoors. I ordered the crab salad, oh my days it was just perfection! Such a great portion and so very tasty. My Husband had the steak pie which he also really enjoyed. Staff were lovely too, great service.

This place is slightly of the main road between Lythe and Hinderwell, but is well worth the visit. Our first and second visits on the same weekend break, and it really didn't disappoint. We had the traditional pub fayre the first time - Lasagne, Steak Pie, Chicken curry, all well presented and tasted great (chips could have done with a little more browning). Our second visit was for fish and chips and was a really nice portion. The outside area is worth a mention as it is a nice enclosed garden with plenty of plant growth (including apple and grapes growing), and on a good night is a pleasure to sit in. We will definitely be visiting this place again, and will recommend it to friends.

Fabulous. No other word for our dining experience. We enjoyed a Sunday Roast (I had beef, my wife had lamb) and the food was superb. Ample, very tasty portions. Service was excellent. Staff friendly and welcoming but professional. We'd stopped by the previous afternoon to book a table and were advised that as their Sunday Roast service usually ends by 5pm, there may not be many roast alternatives left at the time we wanted to eat but the lady who took our booking said she would make a note to the chef to reserve some meat for us so we would be guaranteed our roast at 5pm. Above and beyond!! We are staying in the area until Friday and will definitely visit again for our evening meal.

We found this place by chance and we are so glad we did. The lunch was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We had our dog with us so chose to sit in the lovely garden but we would have been very welcome to take her inside. We’re only visiting here for a few days but we will make a return visit before heading home. Thank you to all staff. We highly recommend The Ellerby Inn.

Been visiting for family meals and business stays and meals for years but will not return following a terrible experience dining with nine of us and meeting new owner. Its a wonderful setting the ellerby and has always been well reputed but its under some poorer leadership and direction is not good. The food seems to have slipped from great to okay lately. I was served an oxidised glass of shiraz with the meal and as i paid up for £270 bill the owner refused to refund me my wine cost of 5.99! instead to proceed to tell me its fine and no one else has complained! you could see her staff were in fear of her during the rather heated discussion. She will no doubt make some lame attempt to portray me as a moaner as she did on the night in question. ive never compained anywhere in my fifty years it was embarrassing tbh. such attitudes do not deserve the opportunity of such a great place. i hope in spite of my damning review that the place prospers for staff and client sake of course but be weary of late! She accused me of moaning all night when i hadnt moaned at all until asking for my wine refund at the end! the service was poor, they were apparently short staffed but only 30-40% of capacity was used. wow what a crappy attitude, ramsay please pay a visit 😊

We have been coming here for years when staying nearby in Runswick. The food is always spot on - steak pie and lasagne are always great options. Always a decent beer option on and the staff look after you. Very consistent in terms of food quality, and experience. Worth the drive if you are staying nearby.

We were staying with a friends in Brunswick Bay and decided to have dinner at The Ellerby. Chose not to have a starter, as I chose the Beef brisket pie, which was very filling. Staff were very attentive and food was nice. Would have liked a little dimming of the lights, as everything was very bright and lacked atmosphere!

Been here several times in the past for meals whilst staying up in North Yorkshire. However last year booked in for 10 nights. Great place to stay. Lovely room near the conservatory. Excellent breakfasts and evening meals if required in the bar or restaurant. Staff are great and the domestic staff are fabulous. As it turns out we had to cut our holiday short after 5 days due to an RTA caused by someone else! Again staff were brill about this and were so helpful. Well recommended.

We ate here twice whist staying at St. Hilda’s complex in Hinderwell. It’s a bit out of the way so husband drove us on both occasions. Well worth it. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is out of this world. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. I would visit again and again whilst in that part of the country because it is so worth it.

We visited the Ellerby today and as always the food and service was excellent. I decided on the gammon and chips (with two fried eggs) and my partner opted for the steak pie (a very generous portion!) All in all a lovely experience, great staff, great beer and great food, what more could you want! Keep up the good work!

5 of us ladies hoeing a short break around Whitby called in here for a slightly late lunch, what a find. The portions where very generous and the food was stunning. The steak pie, my friend said, was to die for. The liver and onions amazing. All our party where impressed with everything. The place as stunning and the service wonderful. Wish it hadn’t been our last day or we would have gone back again. Thank you for a lovely meal , made our last day. There were only a few people on at the time we arrived so although we are all double/ boosted vaccinated we did not wear our masks.

Had a family room very spacious ...immaculately clean bathroomHad an evening meal in the restaurant and it was superb as was breakfast the next morning. Only slight criticism was some if the crockery and glass jugs very jaded and need replacing.Highly recommend and would stay again

Just a short review... Our second visit while exploring the North Yorkshire Moors. Excellent food, excellent service and fresh cooked food. Worth paying the little extra for the quality. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

On a drive out for the day, we were both really hungry. We’ve passed this place a few times and this time decided to see what it was like. We were not disappointed! A warm welcome from the lovely lady in charge, attentive service & food that was out of this world! The steak pie is beautiful! The ladies next to us ordered profiteroles, which looked wonderful. They had two spoons to share it, it was real value for money. There didn’t seem to be any shortage of staff like so many places recently (if there was, it didn’t show). The place run like a well oiled machine! Food arrived in a timely manner, even though they were busy. The public areas including toilets were clean and hygienic and all measures to avoid covid were in place. First class! We only live in Scarborough, so will definitely be returning with friends next time! Well done to you and all your staff

We stopped here quite by chance on a recent trip up north.We were looking for a good pub lunch and this place fitted the bill !It is set in an old building in the heart of a small village just off the beaten track.The place was just so professionally run. The dining rooms were light and airey, the tables beautifully set with flowers and quality crockery and cutlery the staff totally on the ball and the food was simply delicious.We were welcomed and felt relaxed from the off- the village setting certainly helped.We would go there again in a flash.

We have visited the Ellerby a few times but always for an evening meal. This was our first lunchtime visit. Booking was simplicity itself via the website and arriving at the allocated time we were shown swiftly to our table. The food was of excellent quality and cooked perfectly. The service was a bit slow but there was a large party in at the same time so we didn't mind too much. We will certainly be back

We have travelled the British Isles now for many years staying in various Hotels and Restaurants. In our opinion when considering those of a similar price for accom/food etc the Ellerby Hotel, without a shadow of a doubt sits in the top 3.We called yesterday for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. The staff are always very helpful and courteous and nothing to much trouble to them.We are now looking forward to our stay in November.Well done Georgie and Mark, keep up the good work.

We were excited to visit this restaurant after it had been recommended by friends. The dining room is outdated, full of OAPs and the food is terrible. It was like going back 20 years. Our pork belly was so burnt it was black and they covered it in gravy to try and hide the mistake. Don't waste your money by going!

Easy to book a table online for dinner. Staff were welcoming & we were taken to our table. Restaurant was busy with both locals & visitors which is good to see.Plenty of choice on the menu plus a specials menu. The steak pie was delicious, packed with meat & a lovely pastry. Well worth a visit

Visited as usual while on our annual holiday in Whitby. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the service was good. The restaurant lacked the usual atmosphere and the menu appeared somewhat reduced compared to previous visits. The food we had was fine.

We sat outside in the garden for drinks which was lovely . Then e went into the restaurant for dinner. The staff were pleasant but there was very little atmosphere. I had prawn cocktail and pork . My husband had fish and chips. It was all ok but nothing special

Visited for a family celebration but were disappointed with the uninspiring menu and quality of food. One of us had the curry which was like the sort of thing my granny would have made 20 years ago. Staff friendly enough and good choice of beer.

The food was simply delicious. We were visiting family in Whitby and they brought us here. Was really impressed with the food, it was tasty, hot and a great choice of vegan for my auntie. Staff were lovely and the it was a really homely pub. I will definitely be back next time I’mvisiting.

We stayed locally for the weekend and booked a meal on the Sunday night which we enjoyed so much that we returned again on the Monday. Great food and service and good measures in place for dealing with Covid. When we are next in the area we will defiantly return.

Having just spent the weekend at the Ellerby Country Inn Restaurant, we will definitely be returning!! During the current climate we were a little unsure what to expect, well I can't say we were disappointed.CV19 guidelines were all in place with everyone adhering to it. The staff were amazing and nothing too much trouble, the rooms were spotless and extremly comfortable.The food is outstanding and thoroughly recommend the Steak Pie with copious amounts of gravy!!

We had a one night stay at this country inn. The room was very clean and the hotel itself felt very Covid safe. We had a very nice evening meal in the restaurant area. The style is pub food but of a good quality.I would certainly be happy to stay again.

We dropped by to see if we could get some lunch and were so impressed by the Covid safety that we had lunch and then came back later in the week for an early dinner before we tried to get to Runswick Bay (3rd time lucky as it was very, very busy due to the sunshine).Had a great sandwich for lunch and had sea trout for dinnerPlenty of social distancing and staff very nice.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the lodge we were staying in and it did not disappoint. It felt a safe environment without being sterile. The dinning room had a nice atmosphere and listening to the chat it is obviously a locals favourite. There was a nice range of choice on the menu. It was steak night (THursday) which was 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £34. We did not go with this but my gammon and my wife's fish was excellent. The desserts were great too. The staff were very friendly and efficient we would recommend that you visit this eating place if you are in the area

Booked a table for Sunday lunch, and wasn't disappointed. The roast and Yorkshire pudding etc. was a treat. The staff were very efficient, and the Covid precautions were well organised. We called another day for a 'snack', and large yorkshire pudding and onion gravy, and the hot beef baguettes were complimented by our party. We enjoyed the snacks in the lovely garden on a pleasant afternoon. We are planning further Sunday lunch trips out.

Went there for Thursday steak night. We weren't disappointed excellent steak & wine. Good portions. We didn't try the dessert as too full up! We will go again!

Been here today for birthday lunch with mam and dad. Quick service, couple of young staff looked shy at serving, food was lovely- mam had scampi, dad had steak and I had chicken curry.

I cannot praise the Ellerby enough. They have introduced excellent Covid procedures whilst still maintaining a lovely homely and comfortable atmosphere. We have just had a 2 night break with great visits to local places including Marske by the Sea. Excellent dinner menu at the Ellerby and superb breakfasts. Well done the Ellerby! we will be back at New Year.

This gorgeous hotel is ideal for a Yorkshire stay. Use as a base to explore the coast around Whitby. The web page gives you opportunity to choose your room. Our room was one of the best we have stayed in. Very well equipped with plenty of tea and coffee, toiletries and what I liked quality towels. The tv had sky but not having it at home it took me a while to work it out. The covid guidelines are followed explicitly but this does not detract from a welcoming friendly stay. The food was served safely and plenty of choice on the menu. We didn’t have dessert but recommend the steaks and garlic dough balls. Breakfast delicious a welcome start to the day. On our departure we were thanked for staying with them. Just a small touch but noted.

This was our second visit since covid. Same great experience as ever with the beautiful room, lovely staff and the best food ever.We were also lucky with the weather, the sun was shining all weekend and as we had a balcony room we were able to sit outside our door to enjoy the sun.Could have done with a couple more days as the time went so fast.We already have our next visit booked.Thank you to all who made our stay special as always.

We have been here before and were looking forward to a special experience. The lasagne and sea bass were good, but the potato with the latter tasted as if it had been reheated. Lemon cheesecake was lovely, but the toffee sundae was ordinary and lacked enough toffee flavour. At no stage were we asked if everything was OK. It was difficult enough to attract the attention of our server to get dessert and the bill, so we did not feel able to raise our concerns at the time

I have to admit to being disappointed! We had waited a long time to eat out again & three out of four of us were disappointed! My mango sauce was very watery & not tasty! I have had it before & it used to be very nice! My husbands steak pie was dry, smaller than he had ever had before there & the lasagna meal also not up to the standards we expect there! Unfortunately the chips weren’t up to standard either which I suppose could be whatever potatoes they had managed to purchase! I know certain times of the year can be a problem! Social distancing was good! Staff were all very pleasant! We have used this Inn many times for many years & will try it again in a few months time! Maybe it was just one of those days in the kitchen but we were in on time & first customers booked in for lunch!

Lamb and chicken roasts very good, creamed leaks were done gratin style, lovely and cheesy. Raspberry and white chocolate creme brulé delicious ( not much white chocolate flavour, but still good). Plates were a little small (not food quantity), Yorkshire and meat came on the plate and each person got their own portion of veg and gravy boat, due to plate being small was cramped to put everything on. Just after leaving discovered we had been charged for 3 extra drinks, refunded immediately, so all good. First visit here and would definitely recommend and would return.

We had a meal here last night and it was beautiful. All of the food was perfectly cooked, served with social distancing in place and the staff were very friendly. You can stay here too and we may think about that in the future. Can highly recommend this restaurant.

We ate here two evenings laat weekend the service and food were excellent on both occasions. We felt totally comfortable with the approach towards hygiene with regard to covid19. It wasn't our first visit and we will definitely return.

Liked it so much here, we visited first about 6 years ago but couldn't remember the name or location. We found it again by happy accident while holidaying in Staithes, we visited twice during that week. The outside eating area is lovely and food was great. We will definitely be back in the future. We came just as food places were allowed to reopen, all covid precautions are being adhered to and staff were working in two bubble shifts in which kitchens were cleaned between shifts and each shift didn't cross paths. We felt very relaxed with the way they were running things. Oh yes and if you get chance to order pie....you won't be disappointed

Returned here with our dog after needing a break away after lockdown. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay once again, very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the waitresses serving in the garden. Felt very safe with relevant Covid measures in place, staff keeping as much distance as was practical when serving food. Veggie breakfast was delicious! Thank you x

We had a delicious meal here about two years ago and were glad to find that standards haven't slipped! The steak pie is nothing like we're used to, but ever so nice. It's a short crust pie rather than puff pastry one, and packed with beef, with the gravy served on the side. Served with home made chips and veg it made for an excellent meal. The meat and veg lasagne we're lovely too, I was told by the others in the party. Definitely recommended!

We discovered this amazing place at the beginning of last year, so glad we did and have returned many times since. Also recommended to friends/family who all loved their stay.Then along came covid.... we have been in lockdown, avoiding people almost.We had a 3 night break last week, had a lovely time as always. Slightly different this time with everything going on but the staff have gone above and beyond to adjusting everything to keep us all as safe as possible. Lot's of hand gel stations, even in the rooms along with antibac wipes.A good system of ordering breakfast items so that it is brought directly to your table.The tables and chairs are sanitized as people leave them ready for the next diners. Single use menu's too.If you are in any doubt about covid safety, don't be. We felt totally safe and this is coming from someone who isn't going to visit a supermarket for a long time yet!

stayed one night and everything was as it always is perfect except when we went to the restaurant for our evening meal the food and choice on the menu is second to non then for the bad bit THERE ARE SANITISER STATION'S EVERYWHERE . The social distancing was a joke it was as if there was no coronavirus 19 any more the staff were not wearing masks and leaning over tables while people were still at the table passing each other and not waiting for one second for people to pass why bother emailing people a load of information if they them selves don't practice what they preach very disappointed won't be go back till this is allover

Me and my partner ate here twice whilst we were camping in Hinderwell. We have two dogs, so we ate in the really pretty, sheltered beer garden they have. The tables outside are completely covered, so you don’t have to worry about getting wet if it rains unexpectedly. It was their first week of opening since lockdown, and they have worked really hard to get a system in place that is safe during this covid pandemic. Both meals we had were absolutely gorgeous, and really generous portion sizes. The dessert menu had loads to choose from, and were delicious. Absolutely nothing to fault them on. All the staff were so friendly as well, and we felt really welcomed which sometimes you don’t when you have dogs. A really scrummy place to eat, and not to be missed if you are staying in the area

Having visited this Hotel on several previous occasions we have always been impressed by the staff, food, rooms and cleanliness of this Hotel. We had another few days here last week for a family reunion and can’t believe the service we experienced! We didn’t think it could get any better but my word it was amazing! The rooms were exceptionally comfortable with a small fridge which had bottled water and fresh milk replenished every day and perfect for storing your gin & tonic . The food was outstanding and last but not least, the staff were superb and nothing was too much trouble. They really made a fuss of us and we can’t wait to return very soon! Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable (even though we were a bit boisterous on the first night) !

4 of us went for a Saturday evening meal. Situated in a lovely place, all clean and tidy inside. 3 had starters, which were all delicious and beautifully served. We would have liked a few minutes in between starters and mains, but didn’t get a chance. As soon as the plates were cleared the mains came out with a different waiter. The presentation of the mains wasn’t as eye catching as the starters. I am only commented on the meal I had. I decided to have belly pork off the specials, which was ok, but not delicious. Everything was really peppery. I was expecting the peppercorn sauce to be peppery, but not has peppery as it was. Belly pork had been cut into 3 pieces, I piece had been scored with a crispy top, but the other 2 were unscored and quite rubbery. I had sticky toffee pudding for desert, this was a disappointment, it was very dry and had hard pieces of dates in the bottom, not soft and moist like it should be. Choose to have with custard and toffee sauce, which it said on the menu. There was no sign of the toffee sauce. I didn’t finish either course. The other 3 were happy with what they had.

Steak pie was excellent. Fillet steak was excellent. Great atmosphere and service. Terrific value all round. I don't live in the area but the trip is worth it.

Went with family for a birthday Sunday lunch. Could have anything from the normal menu as well as roast dinner. A few of us had starters, vegetable soup was quite peppery & just warm as were mushrooms. Took ages to get our main meal. I opted for a small roast beef which was 1 very small slice, oddly enough the small meals came on a bigger plate than the normal size roasts! Along with that was individual portions of vegetables (carrots cabbage & broccoli) quite tasteless & sharing dishes of cauliflower cheese, boiled skinned potatoes & roasts. Each got a tiny pot of gravy. Again food was just warm & some of the meat was cold. Nothing to warrant a complaint to the waitresses but for the price (nearly £20 for 2 courses) it was disappointing.

We dropped in Sunday evening for dinner. The menu options are pretty standard but what you get is very tasty. I had scampi which was delicious. The mash that came with the Cumberland sausage a touch dry and could have done with more butter. The profiteroles were exceptional. Staff were really friendly and service was great. I’d definitely go back again. Thank you everyone

Stayed at the ellerby once one night with a friend of mine, we were both treat very well with lovely food and a lovely room, couldn’t of asked for better staff that were all very kind and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

Had a beautiful meal here with some friends,lovely and clean.and the service was really good. Will definitely be going again.

Having only discovered this amazing place this year, we have managed to treat ourselves to an overnight stay 6 times since. The latest visit with our family taking advantage of the wonderful Christmas offer.This place is perfect to unwind away from everything.Food is amazing, staff are so friendly and the surroundings are so tranquil.Will continue to visit, hopefully really soon.

Great Sunday lunch, lots of vegetables to share and a large yorkshire pud. All very tasty and enjoyable. Friendly accommodating staff. Will be back... 10/10

Delightful country hotel,pub,restaurant.let us park up overnight in the car park. We ate in the restaurant and the sea bass was delicious. Very good beers and friendly staff. Will definitely return to this charming welcoming hostelry. Open fire was cosy.10/10

What a pleasure if was coming here yesterday.

This is a country Inn we have used to have a celbratory meal for over 50 years. It has a extensive menu. A good atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is nicely cooked and well presented. It always has a welcoming atmosphere. The restaraunt is nice and clean and well laid out

Fab Dinner at the Ellerby. Steak Pie and an Ellerby Supper. Both meals were delicious (catering for gluten-free was not a problem). Friendly and efficient service. We’ll definitely be back.

Having had an Aniversary meal mid October we were very pleased to find that the food served was much improved from our last visit in April.

First ever visit to the Ellerby and we were very impressed with the food,steak pie was delicious and the gravy very tasty,My wife enjoyed the trio of fish dish,Managed to squeeze in desserts which also were very good.Young staff very polite.This place is well worth a visit,well done to all
