Popped into this venue as I was visiting the area for a business expo and a good biker friend of mine lives in the village. From what I understand its recently reopened. The pub does need some tlc, but the staff were helpful and friendly, good pint of the irish stuff, the selection of ales was not available. the bar staff also got down wind tha tI had just had a long trip down from Scotland via Huddersfield. They had roast potatos left over from luch time, and shared the leftovers with the customers making sure I got some first. They also did cashback for me for my taxi back to Crewe. Great local pub well worth a visit.

We heard mixed reviews about the Elephant due to previous management. The folk who run it now are doing a great job. Made to feel comfortable, great choice on the menu - my 12 year old fussy eating daughter cleared her plate!! Great food, lovely staff. Definitely recommend!

Had a lovely chilled evening at The Elephant with Leah looking after us for the evening. All of the staff (particularly Leah) were delightful and the food was lovely. Nothing pretentious just good wholesome pub grub. My son was particularly pleased with his steak which was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and could be cut with a normal knife 😊

Went as a party of 7 ladies,waited nearly an hour for our food although the pub wasn't very busy.3 of us had jacket potatoes with cheese and beans,not very well presented and lukewarm. 3 ladies had the steak ciabatta with an extra portion of chips,ciabatta was rock hard and inedible, steak was chewy and chips were overcooked. We complained and they didn't charge for 1 meal,totally unacceptable, also charged £2 for lime and soda !! £1.50 for soda water !! We won't be returning!! Felt sorry for the 2 young girls waiting on,not their fault and apologising for the so called chef.

Had a very good meal at The Elephant tonight. The choice is standard, but cooked well. Although the pub was very busy with Birthday celebrations in the main dining area and an 80th birthday buffet, the service was quick and efficient. The staff were friendly, knew what was on the menu and obviously well trained in front of house duties. Would go again, but on a quieter evening.

Went last night for a meal with a friend, food was lovely, not a crumb left on either of our plates. We left just before thr quiz started but it was nice to see so many people in for the quiz and supporting the local pub. Definitely recommend the Kiev and cheesecake

We decided to go here as it is the sister of the coach and horses which we always go to with no issues at all. Food was good but the table service was not upto to scratch compared to the coach one person had a separate job instead of of an individual dealing with the area you ate in, had bits missing and the person that brought out the food didn’t have a clue and stated it was a kitchen problem and not his, think we will be sticking to the coach from this poor experience

Very unhappy with the service we received during our visit today. Front of house staff seemed completely overrun by a table of max. 10 people and therefore our table seemed to be an afterthought. We received ice cold vegetables and waited over an hour and 45 minutes in total- including 40 minutes waiting for our dessert. We gave up in the end and left, as we were leaving we were told our desserts were ready. They boxed them up and i’ve attached photos of what we received. Laughable. Despite all this, they knocked off the price of a diet coke and a lime and soda. Over £40 for the joy of this experience. Avoiding in future, abysmal.

We went here for a birthday on a Saturday evening as a family of four. Although being very busy we had our drinks a starters served quickly. The staff were fantastic couldn’t do enough, very polite and friendly. The menu seemed to have good options and we soon picked our main courses. The food was delicious and piping hot which I think this extremely important. It was really good value, we will be visiting again very soon.

First meal here since lock down eased, absolutely brilliant food and drink. Food was fresh and all 6 members of our party enjoyed their meal. Really enjoyed our time here. Staff very accommodating and Covid precautions in place. We’ll definitely be back regularly

Very friendly, efficient staff. Unfortunately the food wasn't up to their usual high standard. We didn't complain because we were hungry and we ate it!Garlic bread burnt around the edges, cheese doing it's best to cover this up!My fish was so small compared to previously, with very little batter, and it had burst open so the inside was over cooked too. Pork loin dry.Mash stodgy when previously creamy and gravy not great either.Sorry, but unless the quality of food and how it's cooked improves to previous excellence, we won't be rushing back.Disappointed.

We have visited a few times as a family and loved it.When we visited today after we booked a table we were greeted by a blank face at the bar with no idea that we were coming, we were shown to a table and given the Sunday lunch menuAfter we were advised only minimum options available we were also shown the main menu.Food came out and i was shocked to see how the quality has changed( hopefully teething problems) We pointed out our issues to the waiter gravy has blobs of skin in it, Burnt bought in Yorkshire pudding The waiter didn’t seem shocked at what we have found-the response we got was dreadful “not surprised & and I don’t cook the food” then to top it off the chef came out from the kitchen and walked round to the bar with no mask on.We have recommended the Elephant to friends & family but I will be taking this all back.

Called for a spot of lunch .. and can highly recommend this place. Staff were very friendly.. the new manager came over to introduce himself, all Covid friendly felt very safe.the food was stop on definitely recommend this place ..

Visited the Elephant for Sunday lunch with my wife and family, greated very promptly by very pleasant lady, Covid measures taken very impressive having shielding between tables. Lunch was extremely well presented and served to us all hot and plentiful.Apparently under new management recently, nothing was to much trouble for the helpful attentive staff.In summary would most certainly recommend and will return again soon.Well done.

Earlier this evening, we thought we'd give this place a go - we heard it was under new management. We ordered garlic bread with cheese to start, and then chicken breast with a stilton sauce, mash and vegetables, as well as a steak and chicken burger with chips for the main course. The starter was fine. The presentation of the mains wasn't great, they both looked anaemic. Aesthetics aside, both meals were awful! The mashed potato with the chicken was cold. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and it was returned within a couple of minutes - obviously blasted in the microwave. The steak and chicken burger was an absolute disaster - the steak burger was raw and dripping with blood and the chips were pale and soggy. The waiter was friendly, pleasant and incredibly apologetic - I'd go as far to say, he was mortified and highly embarrassed by the situation. All in all, the waiter was a credit to the establishment, it's such a shame the food was completely unacceptable. Needless to say, we won't be returning again. As we couldn't eat the main courses, we went to McDonald's instead - the food was much better!

I visited the Elephant with my mother for lunch on a week day recently and felt this venue deserved praise. We hadn't been out much due to Covid so we're a bit apprehensive but soon found out we didn't need to worry. We were warmly greeted at the entrance and shown to our table by a lovely young gentleman who's customer service was excellent thoughout our visit. He was extremely friendly and attentive. Our table had a screen separating it from other tables so we felt very safe. Their covid precautions are very well thought out. Screens by tables that require them, sanitisor, clearly signed one way system, social distancing and very clean. The have a very good menu, gluten free too and our food was excellent. Good quality, tasty food. What more could you ask for?! Will definately return.

Visited on Friday Night 28/08/2020 For a family meal out it was fantastic the food was absolutely spot on our compliments to the chefs and the staff were brilliant looking forward to our next visit.

First time I have visited this pub for a meal. I had a mixed grill and it was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were very friendly and the pub is very nice and very clean. I would definitely recommend eating here

Never been before but thought it looked nice. It was so welcoming the staff friendly and efficient. The food was superb hot and plentiful we couldn’t fault it. Felt very safe with all the Covid restrictions in place. We will definitely be returning again.

Went on Saturday for dinner, felt really safe with all the protective covid stuff they have around the pub, food delicious, staff very helpful and wearing visors, kept sanitising everywhere throughout are visit, we definitely be back soon thanks again

Staff refunded money when asked, but shocked that the pubs have only just reopened and they can’t clean their glasses correctly. Really is a joke and shows this pub is not ready to reopen just yet.

We went to the Elephant last night on its first day of opening. Every thing had been done to make sure customers and staff were kept safe. On entering there was a hand sanitising machine for everyone to use. At our table we could see the menu on our phone and send our order straight to the kitchen. We had a lovely meal up to the usual standard and although there were screens around the bar and tables it did not alter the friendly ambience that is always present at the Elephant.

1st day back open what can I say service as we walked through the door greeted by a nice friendly gentleman, very welcoming and Homely , tables and bar set up great with the screens and stickers on the floor showing where to go, food was amazing too, staff had visors on and kept the distance, ordering on the app is great! Nothing was to much or scary thank you so much, lovely food and friendly staff, nice to see the pub back open with happy staff!

Thank you very much for our lovely takeaway Sunday roast and bringing it out to our car and putting it in the boot it was much appreciated.

Went on a recent Friday evening having been several times before on our way through to Nantwich for a night out. Usual great service, extensive menu but this time we were seated in the bar area not the dining area. The meal was spoilt by kids from a group of family's that were in just for a drink who allowed the kids to run around whilst we ate. Would go again, just make sure you are in the proper dining area and away from noisy kids.

My family and u went for a meal here. The food was stunning. They provide a vegan curry which was great for my sister who loved it. I had the canneloni which was beautiful. The staff are super froendly and helpful, was a lovely atmosphere. Will deffo be going again!

Menu is OK and food was pretty average for a pub. Some parts are tired but staff were nice and service was quick.

Decided early doors to visit a lot of reserved tables but we ordered a drink and were seated. Service good staff friendly but the food this evening was excellent. Steak pie was perfect lots of meat pastry lovely and home cooked chips too much of a selection of veg you only need two veg but saying that all was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend.

Had heard excellent reports about the Elephant and was not disappointed. Visited on 12/11 and for a Tuesday lunchtime the pub was very busy, the ambience was warm and cosy with a lovely welcoming feel and as I was dining alone that was a lovely start for me. I wanted some good hearty warm food on a miserable wet day and that was exactly what I got. The sausages were super tasty, proper homemade chips and served on a hot plate.. hit the spot! They have a super menu and a fantastic lunchtime offer. With all this said I am not surprised they were busy, they’ve got it just perfect.Thankyou so much for your service.

From start to finish a thoroughly enjoyable evening.Staff were very pleasant and made you feel welcome. The atmosphere was just right with plenty of customers having a nice time in good surroundings.The food was excellent in presentation, taste and value for money.I would definitely recommend and will be back sometime in the future.

A party of 14 ladies visited yesterday evening to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The food was very good, the atmosphere was great, the service a little slow but we were a large party and the pub was full of other diners too. We had a great evening.

We were having a small family reunion, so decided on the Elephant. As always, the cask beer was very good, and our meals were all excellent, as was The service. This is a great local pub which serves really good food. What's not to like?

Went here on the recommendation of our hotel.An upscale gastro pub - great starters (pate and duck spring rolls) and mains Some traditional items on the menu (steak and ale pie, for example. Excellent spinach and ricotta cannelloni and chilli Con Carne..Excellent grill menu.

Went to the Elephant last sunday for a roast. We had the 3 courses, Cheesy garlic bread for starters.. very nice. Then onto the Beef roast and I must say it was disappointing. Advertised as 'Buttered Veg' however not an inch of butter in sight and it was very bland. Yorkshire puddings were definitely bought in and frozen, the beef was VERY well done and we got 2 of the tiniest roast potatoes ever. Then onto dessert -My partner had the Apple Pie with custard which she said was lovely. I had the typical chocolate fudge cake.. again nice but definatly brought in pre-made. I wont be returning for a roast again, unfortunately. However, the service was very very good and the staff were polite and pleasant. People love homemade food! Just a bit of feedback for the chef :)

The title says it all. We had the two course deal with starters and mains and there we no complaints all round. Parking is excellent and plentiful.

We called in here yesterday, and even though a lot of the tables were reserved, they managed to get us a table for 6. The 2 courses lunchtime offer was great value, and the Leek and Potato soup and warm crusty bread was delicious. The kiddies enjoyed their meals too. Lovely atmosphere, we shall be back!

A very friendly pub with a relaxed atmosphere. Helpful and efficient staff. The menu was well thought out with plenty of choice and the food came hot, attractive and delicious but not over fussy. Will certainly be visiting again.

We had booked for a table of 15 and when we got there the table was all set up ready for us. The staff were attentive and as we pre booked we expected some of the orders to be a little bit mixed up or wrong but no, it was all correct and came out in a timely manner! Very impressed.

Had reserved a table for a Tuesday evening. Excellent choice of menu. So many starters and mains that it's impossible not to find something you like! Went for the prawn cocktail, king prawns, duck spring rolls and chilli beef nachos - all delicious! Then for mains, we went for the rack of ribs and the double chicken burger with onion rings - highly recommended! To finish off we had a hazelnut latte and a cappuccino - loved every mouthful, very reasonably priced, excellent customer service, nice decor, clean toilets, nice location, food was served very promptly - recommend it to all and look forward to another visit!

We haven't eaten at the Elephant for a few months, and had actually been told it had changed hands (which it hasn't yet). It is a spacious pub/restaurant, with plenty of room for dining. It is also one of the first restaurants in the area to provide comprehensive gluten free options.

Sunday lunch for 2 both had roast pork. I don't eat out on a Sunday because nobody can match my roast how wrong wasThank you for an awesome lunch

Another lovely evening spent at The Elephant......staff are always friendly, lovely food and good service, at very competitive prices.

This was our first visit to The Elephant, I drive past on a daily basis and had heard great reports!

We attended unannounced as a party of four plus a six year old on what was clearly an already busy Friday afternoon.

Lovely welcome and we were seated very quickly. Food was amazing and excellent value. Highly recommend. Couldn’t fault it, will definitely be visiting again.

We arrived at 1432pm & asked if we could eat, only to be told that service stops at 1430pm. After querying that we were 2 minutes too late & therefore couldn’t be served, the only response was “pretty much”! This will be the first and last time that we attempt to give these people our business! If only they had a web site available, perhaps they could avoid wasting potential customer’s time.

The Elephant based on food deserves nothing less than 5/5 as it is fantastic. 0 complaints with any of the 4 meals, all very tasty and the chips are to die for!

Visited the Elephant yesterday to celebrate the hubby,s birthday, along with 8 other family members.Had the Sunday roast which was wonderful, all came out together,piping hot,and plentiful.Most of us chose the roast beef,and the others went for the turkey.Everyone said how good it was.The desserts were equally as good with most of us choosing the apple pie,or chocolate fudge cake.The staff were great,nothing was to much trouble,all were very pleasant.We had an excellent time,and we thank all the staff for making our visit an enjoyable one.

When at lunch time for a meal. Food was great and a very good experience. Over 60 get a discount Mon to Sat.

What a disappointment. We went for a family (6 of us covering 3 generations) meal to celebrate our son's 30th birthday. He was refused service because the barman reckoned he didn't look over 25 and despite our vouching for him - I'm over 60 and my wife is over 50! - and the fact his pregnant partner and 9 years-old son were with him, he still refused us service. I fully appreciate the need for a "Challenge 25" approach, but this was pure "jobsworth".

Great food at reasonable prices - large menu - very good staff. The Elephant was very busy but we did not have to wait long for our food and the staff did not rush us at all. My brie, beetroot and butternut squash tart was amazing! All the food was piping hot and looked lovely on the plates. This was the Sunday evening before May Day and the first time we have been here but we will definitely be coming again.

Having visited The Elephant for food over the last few years we booked again for Mother's Day so not for the first time and the food and service had always been excellent and whilst the food was still excellent unfortunately I cannot say the same for the service that we received on this occasion. We had our main meal and asked if we could have a little while for this to go down before ordering dessert which is what we had always done. We were told this would be OK and then the Manager came over to advise us that we only had the table for 2 hours and had 15 minutes left with which to order dessert and eat it however we could then go into the bar to continue with drinks. No one had advised us at the time of booking that we'd be limited to a 2 hour slot and having been here many times this was an unexpected and unwelcome surprise especially when we were 45 minutes into the 2 hours before the food arrived and wanted this to be a nice afternoon out for family. Then we were told we could have an extension on the 2 hours and straight away we were asked about dessert again. Everyone felt hurried into ordering however I didn't order dessert because I was still not ready and given my illness I have to be careful when eating so I did not have the dessert that I'd been looking forward to. We would never have booked had we been presented with a 2 hour time slot at the time of booking. Having visited here for some years and for special family birthdays, my wife had her 50th here last year we will not be coming back again. It's a shame that moving people in and out to maximise profits has become more important than providing the great unhurried service that we had become accustomed to here and now as a result The Elephant has lost our future business. I am taking my wife elsewhere this year.

Not been in a while to the Elephant for food so decided to go with it being Mother's Day.

We called in for a birthday meal. Brocolli, cauliflower and cheese soup - couldn't see or taste brocolli but very nice anyway, medium rate rump steak cooked perfectly, delicious hand cut home cooked chips, coleslaw all helped down with a very nice pinot grigio.

Visited on mothers day, warm welcome, accommodating (mum in wheelchair), delicious food and plenty of it. Would highly recommend

Went to elephant last night for a meal I had 2 San Miguel's, My wife had a wine and Daughter a pink gin. I had the chilli with nachos/rice and probably the best chips I've tasted, Daughter had chicken in mushroom and Stilton sauce and My wife had different sausages on mash and gravy. Absolutely lovely and my daughter even brought a doggy bag home £50 the lot

Lots of choice and super friendly staff! Would recommend to anyone visiting the area it’s gorgeous. Gluten free is perfect for coeliacs

i went here with my grown son .the pub was warm an cosy .staff were very attentive .i had pork loin with mushroom cream sauce an apple mash my god it was so nice. my son had mixed grill and all the trimmings he ate every bit .an for desert the waffles with banana an toffee think they were made in real waffle pan very full an happy thank you

My husband and I have just enjoyed a delicious meal. Very friendly staff and delicious food which is very reasonably priced. There is something to suit all tastes on the menu. We love having a meal here. The atmosphere is relaxing and a hearty meal is always guaranteed.

Come to the Elephant a lot and they never fail to deliver fantastic food. All the staff are freindly and are brilliant with our 2 year old son.

We had a lovely meal here a couple of weeks ago, the staff were super friendly and very helpful as we have a difficult toddler, we highly recommend and we will definitely be back again soon

We visited The Elephant for a birthday treat for my mum in which we were massively disappointed in the service we received and the way in which they tried to resolve our problem. Upon arriving we ordered a pint of Tetley in which it was warm and very cloudy, we sent it back and asked for a Doombar replacement in which the gentleman was very nice. We then ordered our food for my dads sunday dinner to arrive cold. We asked the lady if it could be warmed up and received a one word 'yes' without so much as an apology as to being served cold food. We also asked the lady if we could order more drinks in which her reply was 'can you just wait a minute' in a very rude manner as if we were asking too much of her. The food overall though was nice after the dinner had been warmed we then got dessert menus and waited over 15 minutes to try to order desserts in which by this time we had had enough, we went to the bar and explained to the lady that we wanted the bill and were disappointed with our visit in which she replied 'okay' with again no apology. We then waited a following 10 minutes for the bill in which she said the sunday dinner had been taken off and again gave no apology and confirmed that she hadn't listened to my complaint as there was no recognition of the poor service we received in general and ruining my mums birthday meal.

Been coming hear for over two and a half years it's one of the best places still left that's not chaned .I all ways look forward to going as a treat and have never been disappointed at all .

Came to the elephant for a meal , what can I say it was fantastic from start to finish, the pub is homely and welcoming, I had the homemade steak pie and my friend had the tikka that looked fab, can't thank the staff for the service top marks.

This is a lovely pub, great staff with lovely home cooked food. We have eaten here a few times and the food has always been of a good quality. From steak pie, to gammon, to veggie fajitas and Sunday dinner. All good please visit.

I phoned to see if I needed to book for tonight Sunday, was advised and did so arrived to find a construction site behind the pub with fencing surrounding some of the parking awkward, once in nice pub ordered drinks one arrived at table wrong drink we let that go, ordered mains were fine usual pub grub then ordered puddings waffle was microwaved was hard that was my daughters (great job spoilt a good day for her) my lemon meringue was stodgy so spoilt my evening too. Didn’t stay for a coffee but we did plan to went to bar to pay £68 three meals and one drink for me an two each for my partner but when checked bill at home realised we had been over charged for drinks. BIG LET DOWN AFTER SUCH GOOD REVIEWS SPOILT A BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

First time at the elephant with friends who we eat out with every Thursday and have done so for nearly 30 years. This was our first time here abd what a find, from the moment we walked in the staff were polite pleasant and helpful. Good food at reasonable prices nothing too much trouble for the staff. We will be back soon

We were visitors to Crewe & after looking on Trip Advisor for somewhere to eat locally we chose The Elephant & what a great choice it was.

We just arrived at the elephant for lunch it (week day) was quiet it did not state you had to book to use your taste card but we were told we couldn’t use it unless we booked. Was really looking forward to trying the food here but if they are willing to turn away new customers when they were so quiet we most defiantly won’t be returning booking or no booking! Very poor customer service! Clearly a quiet restaurant doesn’t need to impress new customers!

Good on a local pub putting on a bit of a do for new years eve. Music, dance floor and free sandwiches. Only down side was the volume of the music, we couldnt have a conversation and glad we didnt go earlier in the evening.

The pub has a very comprehensive menu , a coal fire in the lounge area ,pleasant helpful service and the tables are not located to close together.

Started well, we were served fast and th food was delicious but soon after finishing our main we were left waiting for our table to be cleared and my 3 year olds ice cream to come, after 20/25 mins we had to ask for it (they tell you they will take of you at the table)! It’s a shame we were let down as it was really delicious and and a great atmosphere

This place pub should be rammed! We booked in for our 1st meal as a married couple alone with out kids & from the first moment of entering we where made to feel so welcomed! Polite, attentive and professional staff.

I took my 2 friends for a relaxed Saturday evening meal. This is my second visit recently and on both occasions the food has been superb, both in the cooking and quality of the ingredients. The friendliness of the staff, has made me and my friends want to return very soon, and try other items on the menu.

My sister paid us a visit, and as she lives in South Wales, we decided to show her the local culinary delights. We knew we wouldn't be disappointed with the Elephant.

Third time I have been to the Elephant in the past few months, every time the staff have been very friendly and accommodating, food has been excellent quality and piping hot, highly recommended.
