Visited this fabulous pub in the summer and stayed for lunch we were very impressed with the friendly staff and great service, the food was delicious. We were introduced to Jose (the manager )who made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back!

Called in for lunch, staff very friendly, food great, the pub itself is very impressive inside with a lovely roof lantern in the ceiling. Would definitely be coming back.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. I tried the vegan chicken-style burger and it was quite tasty. Lovely welcome by José (manager) and his team. Friendly, professional service, food was hot and atmosphere was calm. Nice pub with a gorgeous ‘conservatory’ at the back.

Efficient, friendly service from all! Just a slight note that it is great to see Tom back at The Cellars; despite it being very busy he was very friendly and took time to give recommendations. Recommend to anybody who is visiting Newington Green, definitely the best service you can get around! Will definitely be coming back again!

Stopped in with the girlfriend for a few drinks and a spot of brunch. What an amazing selection of food! Loved the hotdog, and drinks were so fairly priced! Venue was very clean and staff were very attentive and welcoming! Would absolitly visit again!

Had a private hire in the side room for my birthday. The service was on point and they went above and beyond to make sure my event run smoothly and was memorable. Also they are dog friendly so I could bring my best friend. All in all a great night!

we ordered four burgers two for myself and my husband and two for my kids it was a very loud restaurant. i later got flashed by the chef and the burgers were average at best. wouldnt reccomend.

Great spot with a big and sunny terrace, lots of deals going on 241 cocktails, juicy burger and a drink starting from 10£! And they have 3.50£ pint on a Monday! Service was great and food was tasty!

Had a great roast dinner, even though the place was crowded. It is definitely worth waiting for a delicious meal, even got asked how we like our meat cooked and provided a gluten free meal.

I went with my family for Sunday lunch. We could choose from Beef, Chicken or Lamb. Or, nut loaf if you are vegetarian. I had Chicken. My Granddaughter had Lamb and my spnd both had Beef. The meal comes with veg. We had carrots, cabbage...

Friendly local pub.....great internal decor and ambience. Staff are very friendly. Food is certainly better than your average pub grub...tastes good and is always nicely presented. And they love dogs.....always water bowls available and doggie treats.....woof woof!!!

Went to the bar to buy a drink, I was the only customer waiting at the bar. The two bar staff (one the manager i think) were preoccupied and carried on their own conversation, ignoring me, despite the fact i was stood in front of them, in the middle of the bar. I assumed they were trying to sort out something important, so waited. And waited. After several minutes it seemed a joke, and frankly insulting. Eventually i left, without a drink. Disappointing as this is my local pub.

Really nice pub with a good variety of beers and cocktails. Interesting decor and a glass ceiling in the main room! Lots of board games and books available. Quite expensive but I guess average for the area.

Las bodegas nos ha servido bien durante el almuerzo de domingo en el pasado, así que decidimos reservar de nuevo para una pequeña reunión familiar. Nos quedamos encantados con nuestra última comida. Entre nosotros probamos el cordero, solomillo de ternera y el vegetariano en-croute Yorkshire pudding, todo servido con verduras y del día. La carne era de tamaño raro (pedimos) y tender - teníamos extra para la salsa comen carne. Las patatas estaban decepcionantemente underdone, pero todo lo demás estaba bien. Cuatro de nosotros había postres, manzana y ruibarbo x 2 x 2 toffees budín pegajosas. El flan era muy pesada y demasiado reminiscente de pastel de frutas, pero el ruibarbo fue bien recibida. El servicio era atento y el lugar tenía un ambiente relajado, familiar (perro) y ambiente agradable. Había una excelente selección de cervezas de barril incluyendo favorito local Camden Pale Ale. En conjunto, este es un buen lugar para comer el domingo y si era un sábado por la noche una pesada, sirven un excelente Bloody Mary!

Este lugar es super guay pero en una manera relajada y acogedora. Los cócteles (ESP) son Bloody Mary tan buenos. Tuvimos el pollo asado y es, de lejos, el mejor que he probado. La música, el ambiente y la esencia general hace que el domingo perfecto para amigos o familiares.

Visita por la tarde para una fiesta de cumpleaños en la zona trasera del comedor. Un poco frío para comenzar con, pero pronto se calentó y tenía un montón de espacio para descansar.

Cálido y acogedor, limpio y agradable. Gran boozer con un personal maravilloso, particularmente festivo cabezas de animales montados, ya estamos planeando nuestra próxima visita.

The pub is big, the environment is so nice, and the waiters are awesome. Specially Rodrigo, the best cocktail boy in that area. Really cool doing the drinks and lot of knowledge about the spirit drinks too.I am going more or less each two weeks and every night is good!Very recommended!!!

Looked great outside with tables for dining so went in.Ordered > no mention of wait > waited 50 minutes > checked on order and were told it hadn't been startedFood looked great but unfortunately we left after waiting so long without and prior warning or and follow up from bar staff. Disappointing. Will not go back.

We've been here a few times already. The food is very nice and the staff are always attentive.I also like their selection of beer & whiskey. My girlfriend loves their selection of gin and especially the cocktails made by Rodrigo!

This pub is just up my road , and it's lovely. The menu has changed however , and it does lack some excitement. A couple of years ago there was much more exciting things on the menu including the most delicious veggie burger we'd ever tasted. However the whole menu changed the veggie options disappeared. I think the dinner and lunch menu is the same. Recently had a lunch there and it was lovely but we were struggling to find 'light lunch dishes'. I love this pub but I think it could be even better with a slightly larger selection of food and exciting menu. Liking the new colour by the way!

Our group of five enjoyed some good, honest, tasty food at the venue. The service was quick and efficient and it's worth a visit.

This pub gives the impression of all that is good in the new British food movement. My starter of pigs ear was quite good though under seasoned. I ordered rib eye steak medium rare. The steak was thin and a touch gristly but more important was very over cooked. When asked for a replacement, no problem. Whilst it was being cooked I could hear two huge unblocked sneezes from the kitchen - not nice. The replacement steak was just the same as the last. I can't be sure, but I think the meat was a little past its best. Peppercorn sauce was watery and none too pleasant. I gave up after eating half the steak. The chips were superb so I just ate those. There was no offer of removing anything from the bill and when I objected to being charged service, I was asked 'wasn't the service good then?' Leaving negative feedback doesn't come easy to me and I regret having to do so.

Had a stake for dinner, which come with a nice creamy pepper sauce and chunky chips. A good selection of beers and ales is also available.

We hadn't heard of this pub, but found it online when we knew were going to be in the area and wanted somewhere to eat. The Sunday lunch was great, staff very friendly, good decor and nice atmosphere. We'll definitely come back

spotted this pub while walking around the area on Sunday. Really impressed by the interior of the pub - the dining room had a fantastic skylight ceiling. It was really busy and buzzing. Lots of families , groups of friends etc having lunch. We were lucky to get a table and decided to have Sunday lunch. The roasts were good - I had the pork and my mum had the chicken. Both were good sized dinners. My husband had the sea bass which was a bit small but he said it was really tasty. Even though it was busy it was easy to get served and the lunches arrived quickly. It is also dog freindly which is good as we plan to return with rest of our family for Mothers Day lunch next week

I've eaten here half a dozen times over a couple of years and altough the food on the whole is good there are nights it isn't.The best thing about this place is the beer. Always good and the choice changes regularly. It's a nice relaxed place for an early evening or weekend beer or two. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Came for a Sunday roast with friends. Beautiful dining room with wonderful skylight made for a great ambience. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Food was delivered quickly and beautifully presented, and the taste lived up to the presentation. Minor quibble was that the broccoli could have used another minute in the pan, apart from that everything was cooked to perfection. By consensus, the best Yorkshire pudding we'd had and the roast potatoes scored highly too. Good vegetarian options matched up to the standard of the meat dishes. One of the best Sunday roasts we can remember having in London.

Love their Sunday roasts. Have always been pleased with their offerings and all the trimmings. They do a good bloody mary and love the decor.

My wife had an artichoke starter which just loved.My main course was sea bream with chicken wing (bones removed) it was absolutely delicious including the sweetish sauce. I can thoroughly recommend it.The rib eye steak was cooked to perfection and tasty.Even the burger with straw fries was very much appreciated. The service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return to my daughter's local eatery.

I live local to the cellars and we often go in to eat. Food is really good a little pricey but no different to other places in this area. Staff are very polite and very welcoming I would definitely recommend the Sunday dinners roast beef is delicious

I went there for a friend's leaving party. The pub is really beautiful with a very light and big dinning room. They do table service. I had the fishcake with a side salad. Both very good.

Our first visit to The Cellars proved to be a pleasant experience. The Edinburgh part of the name has been dropped as a re-branding to match the refurbishment. No dark and dingy cellar here. The dining area is large and lofty as befits a former ballroom and means that there's plenty of space between tables. Cosy it ain't. The menu is short but the dishes are appealing and the food that arrived at our table was first class. The service was efficient and unfussy. A great meal in a very characterful venue.

The Cellars is a fairly standard semi-old fashioned pub given a basic but very pleasant make-over a few years ago when it dropped the "Edinburgh" from its name. To say it is "no frills" is doing it a disservice but it's not far off. That's not to say it's unpleasant, uncomfortable or tacky - it's none of those things. But there is nothing on the walls and the dining room has been painted a curious green colour that no one other than a pub owner would ever countenance.It's an unremarkable "nice pub" and as almost as good a local as you will find in North London.I went with friends who are not quite regulars but have been a few times and rave about the food. I am not going to rave about the food, but it was perfectly reasonable and I would definitely go again. I ordered the pork belly and was aghast when it arrived because (first and only complaint) the presentation was bad. The plate was literally overflowing with food - pork belly, crackling, carrots, red cabbage, roast potatoes, apple sauce, gravy and Yorkshire pudding. It was unappetising.A plate arriving with gravy already on it is a pet peeve of mine and I hate Yorkshire pudding, so if I had read the menu properly I would have taken care of this so that is my fault, but despite the flavours being very full and the ingredients being undeniably fresh there was just too much food on the plate to enjoy it or to let any one piece have its due.That is my only complaint.There was a problem with our bill but our waitress dealt with it brilliantly so top marks to her for that.I wouldn't hesitate to go again, it really is a lovely place despite what sounds like me damning with faint praise, and would recommend to anyone in the area.

I love the Cellars. I have had my last two birthday parties in this place, and I can remember ever having a bad experience. The atmosphere is friendly, the bar is really well stocked with some great beers (Lush pale ales & Beavertown tinnys!) and cocktails (their bloody mary is my personal favourite). We come in here at the weekend with the kids for Sunday roasts or a steak - the kids are well looked after and very chilled environment, or in the evening where we have had many a rave up. The landlady Annie really is a star. I had my 30th in the back room (20 for dinner, and 40 for drinks) and she made us feel so welcome & the whole evening worked as clockwork thanks to her hard work & eye for a party. Everyone commented on what a great place the Cellars is & I am pleased we went there rather than some of the other local pubs which are a bit hit & miss. Great job Cellars, I look forward to coming in for my next half.

There's a welcoming blazing fire and leather sofas, and they don't mind if a single person sits with a coffee and works.

Nice as a pub and OK food but very over priced for what it was. What ruined it though was the very poor and bordering on rude waitress. Considering how many equally nice, cheaper and with much better staff pubs there are in the area we shall not be returning.

Food was good: steak very tender and lamb tasty. Beers selection great. Just we wait a little bit too long for the food and I think it's a little bit too pricy. Waitress are nice and sweet. Service overall great. I liked very much the place even if the flowers were already gone.

I have been going here for over a year and both been drinking and dining and brought a lot of friends here too who have also then later become regulars. Always had a good time here, especially when the owner Annie has been present as she is running the pub very smoothly. On this particular Tuesday evening I met up with a friend here, it was a quiet evening. Two people were at the bar, a blonde older waitress and a young guy. We had the intention to stay for dinner but, wanted to see the menu first. We waited at the bar and with only two people more at the bar we thought we would be served pretty quickly. The waitress totally ignored us standing at the bar although we called her a few times as the other waiter was busy. Then after about 10 minutes wait she called very stroppy from the other side of the bar; "Hey guys, if you want to order food we will come to you and take the order". We sat down at the table and she came over five minutes. I told her that, it was strange it took them 15 minutes to take our order when there were only about 10 people in the pub at the time. She just sighed and omitted any appropriate apologies. Then we asked why we couldn't order food at the bar. She responded, "well we were busy and we obviously need to charge 7% service charge if we need to wait the tables too". I've never heard of this in any pub I've been going to for the last few years and cannot remember ever having to pay for it whenever I've gone. Even at gastro pubs, like this one is, do they have a dining area and a general area. We were questioning about three dishes on the menu when suddenly the waitress interrupted us to say: oh well guys, I haven't got all night so if you want to eat you may want to order soon!! We got insulted and asked for the manager on which she, to our horror, confirmed she was!!! We just got up and left saying that we lost our appetite. The waitress didn't look up as she was busy texting though we got a sorry from the young. We will make sure to avoid this place whenever this waitress is on shift. Shame as this pub is lovely and deserves much better people to represent it.

I am somewhat of a regular here for drinks, but only occasionally dine here. Thats going to change. The last visit we were there I had a surf and turf with a beautiful ribeye steak and a godzilla prawn that was the size of a small lobster. The steak was cooked perfectly and the prawns were also bang on and so sweet and delicious. The chef is really nailing it these days and I look forward to returning soon for dinner.

This place, which does not include the "Edinburgh" in its naming at all that I could see, is a truly great example of the revamped old London pub which is now so prevalent in the Victorian parts of the metropolis. The food and drinks were of a good standard, and the service personal and friendly. The ambience of the restaurant area retained 19C charm in a wonderful old games room at the back, complete with glass cupola. A special shout-out to the thin young waiter (in white shorts the day we were there) who really knew what to do to help make it a nice place.

Lucky to have this as our local pub - great drinks, gorgeous food, lovely décor and always a fab atmosphere. Never struggled to get a table for dinner or somewhere to sit for drinks. Love it.

I would give this place no stars if I could after my last visit. An appalling burger; overcooked, old, stale bread, but some great chips (which I paid extra for, since none of their 'burgers' come with chips)! Shame about the non existent apology when I complained about the poor quality of my meal. It's a shame as this place used to do an amazing burger: where did it all go wrong?!

Very nice decor, and good quality food and good range of real ales and beers. Bit pricey. Lots of space for family or friends parties or meals.

Had dinner there for the first time a couple of days ago with my boyfriend, and we loved it so much that we decided we'll definitely visit again soon!The decor is great, the atmosphere is relaxed and cosy.The food was really tasty, I had the rib eye steak with crayfish that was delicious, and as dessert the chocolates, truffles and "magic powders" with a coffee of choice that really is interesting in flavour and presentation!The service was very good too, attentive but not "on your face" at all.We really felt like at home!I absolutely recommend this place, go there if you want to have a lovely experience!

Been our local for 2 years and with injection of new chef it's getting better and better. Amazing food - tried the gin and tonic salmon which was possible the best starter I have had in years (why has no one thought of this before?!) and incredible deconstructed cheesecake which looked and tasted awesome. The cellars has definately upped its game with a new chef and great drinks still on offer. We feel so lucky (and proud!) it's our local! Will definately be going more often and reccomend a visit!

Have eaten on several occasions now in the Cellars. I have to say the food was lovely very tasty in comparison to a lot of other pubs there was no comparison. Friendly staff. Love the decor. Great atmosphere.My last visit was on burns night where there seem to be a private party there. So we had to eat in the front part of the pub rather than the lovely room at the back. But still the service and food was yummy. I have to say this pub has to have 100%. In all aspects. Will be going again on a monthly basis with the girls. Great staff.....

When I first moved it was very, very average. Now a lot better. Again is a local for me and the most impressive is that I live on the same road and the customers are always well behaved.

I love the Cellars for a pint before going home (usually after the theatre) - great decor and furniture. Where else do you get to rest your pint on an old TV?Tonight we ate there - outside on the pavement. Just lovely to be outside on a warm summer evening. The staff were lovely, moving as many tables out as they could. And the food was great - a goat's cheese salad that included golden beetroot and some of the best chips I have had in a long time. Oh and the beer was good too - but it always is!

Went with the family for the roasts - I had the lamb, the others had beef. Good value, great fun. Recommended if you are in the neighborhood.

1st Pint - lovely & clear - very good.2nd Pint cloudy - changed to alternative, also cloudy. Neither of the cloudy pints drunk from.Followed by passive aggression from the landlord when I asked for a further change. Why go here, when there are plenty of local alternatives that serve a clear pint.If you cant keep ale, dont serve it.

A faire, uniquement pour leur cheesburger... le reste ayant peu d'intérêt malheureusement. Une salle immense aux murs turquoise, des miroirs dorés, quelques canapés chesterfields, en plein coeur de newington. Le burger arrive et les frites frétillent. Le pain est brioché, les cornichons subtils et nombreux, la viande parfaitement cuite. Cerise sur le gateau, 2 "onion rings" couronnent le burger, surprenant et très intéressant. En revanche le service manque d'amabilité.
