¡Esto haría una increíble barra de buceo, en lugar de una barra temática de fantasía! Booked in advance for a party of 5 at 14:00 on Saturday 30th March Had a confirmation email and reminder the day before Turned up at correct time and although lights on outside the place was all locked up with no sign of life Broken glass and litter outside No note on door to say why closed No phone call No email No text No answer when I phoned them No lunch! Spent the next hour looking for somewhere else with a free table for 5 Not good for me as I have Parkinson’s and have difficulty walking so ended up in pain all night To add insult to injury got email today asking how we enjoyed our visit!!!!!!!

Las tapas aquí no son españolas pero sí muy buenas. De hecho, es probablemente el tipo más único de tapas, ya que es oriental, japonés y algunas otras variedades. Por ejemplo, teníamos una selección que consistía en chuletas de cordero, ensalada de pato crujiente, mini hamburguesas y pollo umami. Eso es variedad para ti!

Now, this place is actually a great dive bar with an extended menu. We spent our last evening in london here downing shooters and partaking of some excellent tapas which actually had an international -south east asian influence. The lamb chops were tender, the crispy duck in hoisin sauce and salad was tasty and the umami chicken - oo lala. I'm coming back for the steaks next visit.

Booked a table here for a Xmas get together with colleagues. The restaurant was full apparently so got seating at the bar. The space allocated was way too small for ten people and too difficult to eat food as there were no proper tables. There is also no table service in the bar area.

Service was great! Unfortunately I thought the food was pretty average. The key thing for me was I ordered 4 dishes which was about £27 and I wasn’t even nearlly full. For that price I expect to be full, even if the food is average. Remember, I could get a fillet steak with plenty of trimmings for that price at a reputable restaurant. Was it 4 prawns I got for £8.50? By the time you’ve taken the shells off you wouldn’t even fill a baby. Hope this is constructive.

I had dinner here on Saturday. It was pre theatre and not my first visit. The dinner was great, steak, chips and capuccino. We made our way down to the bar and after a few minutes I regretted having to leave for the theatre as we had met some nice people. The drinks were good and the bartenders create a great many concoctions that are unique to VOC. It was fun and we plan to return soon.

We had a party here on saturday, drinks at the bar first and then dinner in the restaurant. The bar section downstairs was really happening and the cocktails unique. We had a selection of tapas, steaks and burgers from the a la carte menu at the restaurant after. The food was really good. I particularly like the international touch in the selection of tapas. The umami chicken and hoisin duck salad were stellar and evrything else was simply very good, Great service too.

I have been to VOC on a few occasions. This last visit was before the theatre and it was for dinner. We had pre ordered while making the booking and the service proved to be most efficient. Our starters arrived a few minutes after our drinks. My garlic pan fried prawns were excellent and full of flavor. Our main courses, fillet steak, was excellent and the aged angus fillet done correctly. Salad was fresh and the triple cooked chips very different from the thick wedges served in other establishments. A bottle of full bodies pinot noir accompanied the meal. The food and service were excellent and on par with any good restaurant in central london.

Not sure what I expected, but it was better than the experience. I get that its a bar/restaurant not fine dining, but the service was quite sloppy, the "menus" dog-eared, the food a bit tired and not obviously freshly cooked. It was OK but for the money, not good value.

We dropped by to check out the bar. The bartenders brew their own spirits, a plus point. After working through a few cocktails, it was obvious that these are flavors native to this bar. The one that I stuck to was the 'boba juice' which is an in house special made from pineapple and tea! Mind blowing combinations but incredible results. People just love to mingle here. The quirkiness is part of the atmosphere.

I dropped in to meet friends and have some dinner. It was my first visit and It was a good one. The decor is really beautiful and pays homage to a bygone place and era, the Dutch East Indies. The bartenders also seem to relish mixing the drinks, especially the VOC blazer, a flaming concoction which I thoroughly enjoyed. There was another one I liked, the Francois carron, made from nikka from the barrel, h by hine, cocchi, americano rosa vermouth & pickled plum.

I first visited this bar after a British Airways interview 7 years ago and they made me so welcome after a long stressful day. Well after joining BA 7 years later( don’t ask.. got cold feet!) and waiting for a train to get back to mother Yorkshire, I came back for a drink. It’s so lovely. It’s in Varnishers Yard, 2 minutes walk from Kings Cross Station ( just put it in google maps). Delicious cocktails 241 Monday to Friday, 5 until 7. Staff can’t do enough for you and gin cocktails.. well I had 3 and was a wobbly walk to the train. Their ethos is based upon the East India Company( pirates of the Caribbean type of thing) and fancy cocktails of exotic origin. Really goog price if happy hour and even a double Bombay and Tonic was only £7. They also serve snacks. Think comfy leather sofas and great music. Highly recommend considering I came back after a 7 year old memory! Oh and I was a single lady on both occasions with luggage and still made welcome

They have a really good bar scene here. The bartenders create a lot of good cocktails and you can spend a few evening working through them. The food is stellar and not your regular bar offering, there is a variety of tapas and we shared that. It's a fun place to visit.

I took my staff here for drinks and dinner the other day as we were celebrating the surge in my dog & blanket trade. Our drinks were at the bar and we also ordered a selection of tapas. We had the food upstairs in the restaurant. All I can say is that the food was very tasty and not limited to the usual spanish fare. In fact, it was more of an international tapas deal with umami chicken, hoisin duck , calamari, etc. Service was fast and the food was as good as any upmarket establishment. The selection of cocktails from the bar proved to be tasty and unique.

No hay música en vivo o dj - no hay problema. Este lugar estaba lleno cuando llegamos a las 7 los viernes. Tuvimos que esperar como 15 minutos antes nos dieron asientos. We only had an our for lunch so we dropped in and shared some of their tapas style platters. The food is really tasty and no restricted to one part of the world, chicken was umami, duck was hoisin crispy , calamari - an old favorite but done right. Cocktails were outstanding and service was smooth. The VOC blazer cocktail - i'd recommend.

It's a cute liitle pub tucked away in Regents Quarter and we just popped in for cocktails. The bartender recommended the Voc blazer and we went for that. It's a very tasty concoction and after my third I noticed they did food as well. We perused the menu and it looked like there were a whole lot of tapas style dishes on which suited our requirements adequately. A friendly waitress helped us choose. They brought our food over and it was a an experience in itself. The oxtail ravioli, duck salad and umami chicken were good and a departure from typical pub fare. I really liked the calamari which was tender inside yet crunchy on the outside. The best item were the lamb chops, tender and bursting with flavour. In all, a good drinking and dining experience. certainly warrants another visit when I visit London again.

This place is totally underrated. We dropped in last week because we could not get a table next door. The restaurant is upstairs and we waited in the bar for a table. The first surprise were the cocktails. I had the VOC blazer which actually is made while in flames. It's a really tasty beverage and we realised that most of the cocktails were made with home brewed alcohol.

I had the tapas selection for lunch, two items that were highly recommended by the waitress. The umami chicken was very good. The duck in hoisin and salad was up there with all the good places in Chinatown. I have been here before and this is a nice departure from the traditional grill fare.

They do a small plates thing here and i had some for dinner. Crispy duck, oxtail ravioli and the umami chicken. Quite outstanding and nothing like bar food. We actually came here to drink but it looks like the menu is worth exploring. I'd recommend the rack punch to drink. I also dare anyone to try and stand after 4. Great place for good food and mindless fun.

I am a long time fan of the VOC bar, I have to admit. I've never rally been one for bar food, but it turns out they have a new menu with a selection of tapas style dishes. So I decided to give it a try yesterday on our regular visit.They actually have a separate restaurant upstairs. So we ordered a selection which consisted of umami chicken, duck with hoisin sauce, hake, grilled chicken, sea bass, and calamari. All i can say is - it was very good, probably closer to the standard one would experience in a good restaurant and end up paying a lot more and get less fun out of it. Cocktails and service as good as always. VOC is a fun place and the food is pretty good too.

I had a selection of rally unique dishes at VOC last evening. The baked hake was nice, not too strong tasting with spinach. Lamb chops were tender and really nice. The grilled chicken was a little overdone, but the sauce was fab. all washed down with a couple of bottles of the Thornbridge Jaipur.

We had dinner here last night with our 21-year old son. It was a lovey meal and the service was good and friendly. We had previously been to the cocktail bar downstairs but this was our first visit to the restaurant. Would recommend - there are a selection of main meals but the other option is to choose 2/3 smaller platters each which we thought were excellent. I thought the prawn one possibly too small - only 4 small prawns but the other platters were a really good size.

Had a really enjoyable meal, very relaxed and delicious at VOC today. Our waitress was delightful and given a mix up with our booking was very accommodating to put the situation right. It is a little tricky to find so maybe some tips on how to find on the web site would be good. I am sure many other restaurants/bars in the area have the same problem. The booking system does need sorting out - i think it is a third party managing this. It allows bookings for lunch on a Monday but officially the restaurant doesn't open until 5pm on a Monday. This is the reason this is a 4 rather than a 5, plus google maps info shows opening time on a Monday at 12pm to 11pm. This is probably not the fact o VOC but something that should be sorted out to protect the reputation of a great place to eat.

I have just stepped out of this establishment, It was my first vist. Unable to get a table for lunch next door, we came over to VOC.Most people know this place a a popular pub but the also have an excellent restaurant that produces dishes that will easily par with the best restaurants that charge three times as much.The menu offered tapas style dining but instead of the spanish fare, it's actually quite international.I had the Five Day Air Dried Crispy Duck, Fifth Taste Marinated Umami Chicken and Chargrilled Sea Salt Grilled Sea Bass.Now, even though I had these items in succession the flavors in every dish remained distinct and uncolored. The crispy duck was incredible, on par with the same in upmarket Soho. The Umami chicken was well balanced and came off the bone easily. The fabled fifth taste was balanced with level of salt, the chicken was pure heaven.The sea bass, which I had in the end, tasted incredible.All I can say is that this was not the meal I expected for a lunch break. It's the stuff you hope to have at your wedding, if the caterer got it right.Binita was my waitress and the service was flawless.Incredible.

I had a bite here the other day. They have a new menu with a whole lot of dishes, like the tapas kind, but it's very international. I think my favourite was the five day aired crispy duck, it's really unique and full of flavor. Thery still had the steaks on the menu, but I think this gives the menu more variety.

I went with some colleagues the other day. We did not plan on dinner here, as it is a well known nightspot and fun bar and no one told me about the adjoining restaurant. Anyway, as we were halfway through our flaming cocktails, the waitress asked us if we wanted to see the menus. the offering looked appetising, so we went upstairs to the grill. My goodness, it was a total contrast. The restaurant actually looked very decent and upmarket. We ordered. My starters were the calamari, which were really good, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.The main course was very good, an excellent sirloin steak with chips and salad, very very tasty beef indeed.We had more cocktails after.I think this is a great place to drink and dine.

What a find!!! Went with my daughter, found it by accident. Restaurant was nearly empty but the downstairs bar was busier. This is a fantastic place. We ordered fillet steaks and they were absolutely delicious! And massive!! I fancy myself as a bit of a steak expert and this was one of the best I've ever eaten. The waitresses were really helpful and let us sample some cocktails before we purchased which was a nice touch. I would have absolutely no hesitation recommending this little gem.

Stumbled across this absolute cracker of a joint and was very impressed with the greeting and cheeky wink from the Bar staff ;) I know I'm not much to look at, but it was a "Feel good" gesture that set the tone for the night. Although very busy, the waiter and bar staff kept their cool and very efficiently serviced what was most likely, the largest group table that this place had seen. You can try keep my from returning, but trust me when I say that you certainly won't succeed. This place deserves more than the measly 5-Star rating. Thank you for such a pleasant evening.

I dont normally review the places I visit but lets just say that this place came up tops for me this week.I was here thursday evening for dinner. i thought it was a restaurant only. When I got there I was quite surprised to find that the restaurant was upstairs and there was actually a themed fun pub downstairs.For dinner I had the grilled halloumi with pita and my main was the sirloin steak.The food was good. We had our coffees in the bar downstairs.Now, my job takes me to south east asia a lot and the decor here reminded me of parts of Indonesia, specifically the older places as rattan and bamboo are so common up there.The bar here actually has several unique home brewed alco beverages, I had the pirates curse and stuck to it for the rest of the night.There is no dj, so we just sat and talked until late. It's a lovely place to just chill out.

I visited VOC on a date this month for valentines and put my card behind the bar for the tab.Towards the end of the evening I went to go to the bathroom and asked the waitress if we could have the bill. She asked if she should take the amount straight off the card which i said no, please give it to my date. After all - you're not going to pay for something if you haven't even seen the bill right?!Anyway, upon returning to the table from the restrooms i discovered that the barmaid had taken payment from my card using the contactless feature. Being on a date I did not want to cause a scene so didnt say anything there and then, however I have repeatedly called and emailed the bar to highlight this illegal action - however I am yet to get a response. They don't even pick up the phone - so be wary people and don't give VOC your contactless card - they will steal your money without your authority!!!

Visited with three friends for dinner. We are not locals so found it through online recommendations and arranged to meet at voc. we came separately and all had significant trouble trying to locate the restaurant. Google maps is not very helpful. This aside, the food was good. Choice is limited but what i ordered (falafel burger) was really tasty And the chips were great. My meal was very reasonably priced. A very enjoyable evening

Lovely food and great service! Very attentive waitress and managed to get a table at short notice, although it did get busier later! The steak was beautiful and all plates were cleared. The atmosphere was relaxed but friendly, so perfect for a business dinner between friends.

Decent steaks upstairs from the grill. Tasty and just as good as any other good restaurant.The pub downstairs - well it was busy, noisy , there was no dj, only cd music i think, but I guess the pulling factor here was the drinks menu. The barkeep recommended some punch-arrack drink which was supposedly enjoyed by indentured servants during the Dutch rule of Batavia. Colonial decor, some seating outside but It was freezing, so a nice seat at the lounge was fine.Nice place, will go back.

Just after being turned down because the local Camina is too busy, we were advise to go eat at the bar, which isn't my preference. Looked across the way and saw a small grill house. Wondering in with our luggage we found the cosy place interesting. A medium rib eye and triple fried chips later, must say the quality and portion size is very good. The medium was spot on. Grilled veg all very good. The portobello burger was OK, bricohe bun was a little dry however the service was shift and accurate. The veggie options are limited. Decent Apple pie, over all good place. Happy meal.

We got here on friday evening and got stuck in the queue. We finally got in after 15 minutes and there was no place in the restaurant, so we got seats at the bar. It's a really nice, if not quirky, place. The bartenders are always shouting out or ringing the bell when they do the flaming cocktail, the voc blazer, which I really liked. Its a strong despite the fact that the alco is supposed to be burned away by the flames. Anyway, liked it and met some interesting people.

Visited on a Friday evening as a group of 5 girls. The venue is tucked away in a hidden courtyard which gives it that extra glam appeal. Friday evenings here are obviously very popular as it was booming...not much room to sit & drink. The grill upstairs is very noisy so you have to shout at one another to make conversation but that didn't bother us in fact we loved the atmosphere. The menu is a variety of things but mainly burgers & steaks. The service was amazing - we weren't rushed to order our drinks or food and even when we finished our meal we wasn't rushed off the table. The service was done with a smile, great customer service. We had every starter on the menu & shared between the 5 of us. All extremely yummy. Most of the party had the burger and said it was mouth wateringly good. I on the other hand had a chicken salad which was full of flavour.We all thought the meal would be really expensive especially with two bottles of prosecco & cocktails but the bill come to £35 per person which you can't complain with. I would definitely return here for the restaurant it was amazing!

Popped in for a drink on way back to the hotel with friends.Very busy at 6 pm but managed to get a seat.Great choice of drinks but just wanted some lagers and a G&T.The cocktails looked out of this world.Really friendly staff and the drinks were just how you expected themHad to query the bill when noticed that they had charged me for two G&T's when only had one and at £10.50 for a double was quite a lot. But hey mistakes can be easily made??Didn't try the restaurant but looked nice.Will be going back, go on, if near kings cross go for it..

We were looking for someplace unique to wine and dine and we chanced upon this establishment in Kings Cross. The sirloin steak was really good, probably one of the best i've had in a while with pepper sauce. Panko calamari starter was excellent, tender and not chewy.The best part was the bar, they did a cocktail called the 'pirates curse' which I can probably have til I drop.Good food, good drink.

I was looking for a restaurant to bring my friend to near kings cross who is a big fan of steak and after a bit of searching and hitting TripAdvisor I settled on the VOC bar and grill.It is a little tricky to find... google maps took us on a little adventure but it was more than worth it.We both had fillet steak with peppercorn sauce and triple cooked chips. Absolutely delicious... never had such beautiful chips before and the steak was cooked to melt in the mouth perfection.Attentive but not intrusive service.Small wine list but the Sauvignon Blanc was beautiful... why be extensive if you have such good wine on offer I guess?2 mains, 2 sides, 2 glasses of wine and a soft drink came in at £72 which really isn't bad for London... especially when you take in to consideration the quality of meat.

I'm one of those people that just love steak and ever since I got steered this way by some colleagues, it's been my favourite place. The steal I had last evening was the ribeye, some of us like that special flavor that comes around the bone. Triple cooked chips and fresh salad never let you down. Smiling service as well. I went totake advantage of the lunch special but when I looked at the menu,decided to go for the aged sirloin steak plate. My starter was a grilled halloumi,a rather large portion at that. The aged steak was properly done, the tastewas very good,as good as an upmarket restaurant should and it was accompanied by triple cooked fries and a fresh salad. I am really impressed as I expected this to be a quick mid level lunch in a grill/bar. The food is really good and the creme brulee and capuccino at the end were very good as well.

Stumbled on this place by accident after attending a nearby event and was pleasantly surprised. The service was every efficient and attentive. We ordered nachos which arrived with cheese which our vegan member didn't want and it wasn't made clear on the menu, however this was sorted out without any fuss - great! The burgers were large and well cooked and I recommend this place highly for a reasonable, filling meal.

Met up with family and friends for a dinner. Located 2 minutes walk from Kings cross station. Lovely bar area as you walk in. Varnishers yard is a buzzy place, lots of people chilling outside. The Burger's and sliders were amazing. My daughters thought that their steaks were the best ever. Would recommend this place. There is a a good vibe here and the staff were brilliant.

This was our first visit to this establishment and wow it was lovely. Greeted warmly by the staff, we were sat at our table. We both knew what we wanted so ordering was great! The wine was lovely too. We had the Chardonnay which was exactly like the description. Next the food was amazing beautiful, cooked steak accompanied with peppercorn sauce which was the best! My friend had the chicken burger which was amazing too! Like home cooked! Mary (we think her name was) was amazing! She could not have done more for us!Overall excellent meal and excellent service!

It's a little quirky. The bar downstairs look very colonial with rattan furniture and decor. The mixmasters just keep on entertaining and putting out cocktails. I had a really good one the voc blazer, the fun part is watching them make it as they pour it from mixer to mixer while it's still blazing! Standby the fire extinguisher, but they do it well.We had a selection of wings, grilled halloumi and burgers, they were very good. It's a nice crowd as well, more business types and yuppies.

I've been here a few times after work for drinks and yesterday we actually went up to the grill restaurant to dine. It's really cool dining room and looks totally different from the bar downstairs.I ordered the grilled halloumi starter. It was really good. The mains arrived quickly, mine was a sirloin with chips and salad. The steak tasted really good, like in any fine dining restaurant I had a creme brulee and capuccino after. The service was prompt, the food was good and as a bonus we got to stay in the bar for the rest of the evening.

The best steaks in Kings Cross, hands down. We take all our business clients here for lunch and food and service have never let us down. Personally, I prefer friday nights here as the alcohol is home brewed and the bartenders create some very interesting cocktails. It's also a nicer yuppie type crowd.

The fillet steak, triple cooked chips and Frickles were delicious and competitively priced for this part of London. The waitress and bar staff were all helpful and friendly. A colleague and I decided to try the lunch offer this afternoon. The restaurant was a little busy, probably because of this offer and there are a lot of offices in the area like ours that get the offers. As far as the food was concerned, we had the burger deal, an aged beef cheeseburger with a side order of salad.The burger was generous in size, tasty - aged beef and the salad was fresh.The bar downstairs looked very colonial and we well probably return some evening as we have been told its a good place to visit for cocktails.

The specialty here in the grill is the steak, so I had the sirloin. My starter was the grilled halloumi, it had that bite that you get when the hummus is done right. The aged steak was very good and i can see why everyone keeps recommending this place.I would have preferred a larger wine selection but the specialty here is the home brewed alcohol.Our waitress recommended the voc blazer. She took us to a table in the pub for cocktails as the restaurant was getting busy. We watched the bartenders make some flaming cocktails which made the entire experience more fun.

Came here for some cocktails and upon enquiry, the kitchen was serving, so we popped upstairs for a bite. We both had the panko calamari starters. I liked it. The steak was exceptionally good, fresh salad and chips included. Decently priced as well and we had coffee in the bar, which seems to have a following of it's own, with the predominantly dutch colonial decor. A mixed crowd though, suits and hipsters.

Can't rate The Angel enough! We visited last Sunday for Sunday lunch and were greeted with such warmth. The staff were so hospitable and the service was amazing. I had the nutroast which I can highly recommend, my hubby the pork belly and my daughter fish and chips. We also had the baked camembert as a sharing starter and it was incredible. The atmosphere is just what you want from a traditional London pub. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you!

Otra tienda de pasteles y puré se está cerrando. Esta tienda de pastelería ha estado en Chapel Market por más de 100 años, pero con el aumento de las tasas de negocios y las ganancias de otra pastelería tradicional, la tienda de puré hace morder el polvo. Muy triste verlo ir a finales de marzo.
