Came across this restaurant by chance. The choice of sea food was excellent. Cooked to order and we were not disappointed. We both had the lobster tails with a pea and chilli dressing. For main course we had the luxury fish pie - alot of fish but with a great sauce and creamy mash potato topping, a good portion of fresh veg to accompany it. Would definitely return should we need to make another trip to Whitby.

Visited while on a short break and Fantastic food. Laid out more like fine dining which was lovely. Very clean, I had steak my partner seafood, both meals superb with other food coming out of the open kitchen looking fab as well Highly recommend

We had a lovely evening at The Edge. Food and atmosphere were spot on for a cold February night. My partner had the chowder to start which was like a meal in itself. Definitely recommend that.

Fillet steak was spot on, cooked perfectly. Wife had sirloin which she enjoyed. Wild mushroom soup wasn't great, expected pieces of mushroom but was fully blended. The wife enjoyed the potato skins. Chips with our main meals not to our taste, we both left them. Bit over priced we thought. Staff were great.

I booked this restaurant to celebrate my 60th birthday with 11 friends. The food was excellent, we were not required to pre-order however all food cane out together and was hot. We had the private room at no extra cost and it was perfect. The room had been decorated and the games we dropped off earlier were all set up. Kerry and her team went about and beyond to make my day amazing . Thankyou xxx

We have been visiting this place on our annual visit to Whitby for the last three years. The food is amazing, wonderfully fresh and cooked with great skill. We need gluten free and they are very knowledgeable and careful about that. To top in all they do great cocktails

We visited the Edge last night having booked a table for 4 and 2 dogs. The food was lovely, I had the steak which was cooked perfectly, the chips were really good and I was happy with my choice. Our friends had the burger which was nice but they felt disappointed with the presentation and fries, they would have preferred the chunky chips. What really let the restaurant down were the staff. There was no warm welcome, we were told where to sit and what to do with the dogs. The young girl was lovely and smiley but sadly the others were surly and unhelpful. We had to repeat requests for salt and tomato sauce and felt as if we were a nuisance. The restaurant was cold and lacked atmosphere. The lights were too bright and it did not feel like a cosy restaurant. It is such a shame as it could have been a lovely evening but we left very disappointed and rather than rave about the lovely food we complained about the staff. We will not be returning!

So delighted to find this place. They catered for gluten-free. I had an amazing lobster mushroom and truffle starter with the nicest gluten free bread. The GF fresh battered cod and chips didn't stand a chance for the picture. Just take my word for it as it was gorgeous.

We needed somewhere to eat on December 30th and The Edge were able to fit us in, a party of six. We hadn't eaten here before. We had a lovely evening, from the warm welcome to the delicious food, everything was just right for a lovely evening. One of our party had the steak and said it was the best he's ever had, praise indeed as he is nearly eighty and has eaten a lot of steak! I think the rest of us had fish pie, it was very good and the vegetables were good too. I rarely give out full marks, it takes a lot to get a full score from me so well done to the staff, well deserved praise, we'll be eating here again and I heartily recommend it to anyone else.

Lovely little restaurant with a varied menu and great quality food. It is well worth a visit. The prices are very reasonable too, considering the quality of the food they offer. We have been a couple of times now and intend to go again soon.

To find that even though you are THE ONLY BOOKING they have still honoured it and opened just for you is absolutely amazing!! We have eaten here before for our wedding anniversary and this visit was to celebrate my birthday and we were not disappointed. The oysters were delicious and the duck was perfectly cooked. Nicole was a fantastic hostess and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to all concerned- we will be back, of course.

We had booked to eat here for my birthday meal yesterday and upon our arrival we discovered that we were the only booking for the evening and still they had honoured our booking; WOW 🤩 Absolutely above and beyond! The oysters were simply sublime and so reasonably priced too! Nicole was a wonderful hostess and the main courses of duck, and the pork in prosciutto were delicious!! Thank you so very much. We will definitely be back again and again when next in Whitby.

First time visiting and weren't disappointed. Small but lovely ambiance, I had ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back next time.

Had a beautiful meal - mussels to start with and a fish pie supplied with an abundance of prawns and fish in a cheese and potato crust with fresh vegetables Gorgeous- would definitely recommend

Great to have vegan options on a separate menu

Visited Whitby with my Princess for our combined birthday awaydays. After a stormy afternoon exploring we decided we wanted food. Found this restaurant early ish and went inside. Plenty of tables as it was about six so pretty early. The one member of staff was a lovely girl. I had house burger and a pint of 1664, delicious. Princess had the ubiquitous fish n chips, also delicious. Reasonably priced food and drink Nice place.

We were surprised and disappointed at the attitude of the lady waiting tables. Having requested a different table from the one we were initially allocated, which was under a ceiling speaker playing loud and intrusive music, we were told that all of the tables are equally impacted by music. We decided to move to an adjacent, unoccupied table which was less affected, but were surprised by a subsequent increase in the music volume, beyond the previous level. Shocked to witness such pettiness and unacceptable behaviour from an individual working in the hospitality business. We paid for our drinks and left without eating.

Me and my wife have eaten here several times before food amazing but our last visit I had oysters few hours after leaving the restaurant I became violently sick for five hours constantly been sick then came Diarrhoea will not be having oysters for The for little future

Great little place that can easily be passed by as the frontage does not do it justice. Great place, service and food was gorgeous. A must to eat here.

Sunday lunch was absolutely delightful, so tasty , plenty of it. We both had roast beef. Highly recommend. The desert menu was extensive and although not the cheapest compared to the dinner don't miss it. Best desert I have had in a very long time chocolate heaven and it certainly was heaven . Will definitely be back

Me and my partner came whilst visiting whitby. Firstly I found being seated by an actual child he seemed about 10 years old slightly strange. I can see its a family run restaurant but that felt unprofessional to me. My partner asked a question about the menu the waitress rolled her eyes at him. I had the calamari for starter and it just tasted of oil unfortunately. The garlic mushrooms were swimming in cream. The mushrooms themselves tasted fine. My partner ordered steak, unfortunately it was a bit which was covered in was sinew which made it barely edible and was not a cheap a meal. When we told the waitress she responded very defensively and said its how the butchers cut it. Its up to the chef to make sure they serve a good piece. Really she should have offered straight away to change it rather than arguing. My partner ended up just asking them to take it away. I had duck which was fine, but the red wine jus was tasteless. I wasn’t blown away. I think this place has potential but the waitress needs training in basic customer service and the food needs fine tuning a bit.

Excellent food - my wife raved about the Bouillabaisse, which she said was one of the best she had had outside of France. All dishes well cooked and presented. Top marks for the waiter who was working on his own most of the evening - mega busy, but he dealt with everything efficiently and with pleasant, positive attitude. Only negative was the kitchen servery area - should somehow be screened off more - not great if you are sitting nearby…

Walked in on a Saturday night and were lucky to get a table. This place is amazing!! Service was fantastic staff were so nice and accommodating. The food was the highlight everything we ordered was perfect, well cooked and tasted amazing and portions were big. We watched food leaving the kitchen and everything looked amazing. Would highly reccomend this place and will definitely return

Absolutely fantastic restaurant!! I had a main and dessert from the Bone Appetite menu - the Devilled Salmon was divine and the green creme caramel with the ghost shortbread was so smooth and tasty and fun!! Would recommend this restaurant and next time we are in Whitby we will definitely eat there again.

We had the steak burger, and chicken kebab, it was adequate, the burger was average just a plain burger in a soft roll with some melted cheese. The chicken kebab whilst tasty was a little pricey £17.90 for what you get, the portion sizes are not as generous as nearby resturants service wasn't a patch on establishments practically next door. We ordered chocolate fudge cake and despite asking the two waiters for it to be served warm it was served cold. Overall OK but nothing special and a little over priced

Found this place by accident and was amazed both by the quality and presentation of the food on offer. The hostess really made the evening, with her friendliness, chat, and warmth. The menu is varied and is cooked fresh to order and is delicious. If you are only visiting whitby for one night and don't fancy fish and chips, then you won't be disappointed making this the only place you ate. I will be returning soon (tomorrow evening) for more of the same.

The seafoods are great and we enjoyed them truly but unfortunately, the seafood bouillabaisse is a large portion for me. So I asked the male waiter to boxed it to go. He nods and took the plate. After we paid everything, we asked for our to-go box and he said, “okay, I’ll bring you the to-go box”. We correct him and said, we want the foods we asked for takeaway. He later told that he thrown it away already 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ He didn’t even apologise for wasting my foods. The management really need to asked your staffs to confirm things first if they don’t understand what to do or unsure. A simple question to confirm everything would have make the dining experience better, not bitter.

Staying in Whitby for 3 nights and was drawn to this restaurant for a fillet steak. This place had a lovely atmosphere, the most friendliest staff and the food was simply the best. Great value with a huge selection. I would most definitely recommend 👌

Don't walk by this place, open the door and you won't be disappointed. 2 meals and desserts, bottle of wine £64. What a find.

Walked in on spec on Saturday evening and told there would be a table in 20 minutes - given its popularity and look of the food, happy to wander around local streets to wait. It was well worth the wait - food well presented, prepared and quality ingredients. Service also really good and good atmosphere. On strength of experience, booked to return on Sunday evening for dinner. Menu had many options and a board full of specials so we were impressed with the choice. Sunday evening was a different experience service wise - far fewer staff - only one server for the whole restaurant so experience not as slick as Saturday when full; plates left when finished for some time on the table, took a long time for order to be taken, drinks to be brought, food to be served and somebody to offer dessert/coffee menu and bring the bill.Still a good experience in terms of quality food and value but having seen what it could be like, service was impacted by having fewer staff on 2nd visit. Whitby seems awash with fish and chip restaurants or takeaways so this offered much more choice, good ingredients and well presented food - worth a visit.

This place was great, we didn’t book and got a table. Just off the harbour food was amazing. We had the spaghetti with lobster and sea bass trio. This is up there with some of the best food we have tasted really enjoyed and the staff were lovely. Great place, well worth visiting. I would imagine you would have to book in busier months.

We had a delicious meal at The Edge at the weekend. The place was buzzing, lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious, Fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and very attentive. We will definitely revisit next time we are in Whitby

Enjoyed a lovely lunch here. We had the fish finger sandwich and a prawn sandwich which both came with fries. They were both tasty and good value at under £8.00 each. This restaurant is dog friendly and they provided water for him.

Perfect homemade fresh food. The best meal we have had during our visit to Whitby, not as noticeable as other restaurants as you walk past, but by far the best. Only advice would be don't eat too much so you can save room for the cheesecake 😀😀

We booked a table for 8. When we arrived we wete asked to go for walk round as the people at our allocated table hadn't finished. We were offered a free drink for our 10 min wait. We ordered a main each. Beef stroganoff and fish pie. After 20 mins our mains hadn't arrived. I went to loo. My partner explained that our food had come but they brought him a burger by mistake. Both meals went back. My fish pie was put in the passe. A further 15 minutes and our food arrived. My vegetables were tepid. I was not happy that's my meal had been left all that time. The manageress came, she offered to take the meal back to be microwaved perhaps. We said we weren't happy. She informed us that " you have already had a free drink, the wrong meal was ordered, these things happen" no apology for long wait. It was not our fault that the table wasn't free, it was not our fault that the wrong meal was ordered, we were not looking for a freebie, but good customer service woukd have been appreciated.

Outstanding chefs, food is amazing with a good variety to suit everyone. Only 4* service as I asked 3x for water and was gasping. Although the lady was on her own, so maybe flat out, but 3x is too many times to get a 5* for service. I would highly recommend that you go in and try this place as it is very good quality food.

Very disappointing. Ordered two seafood salads off the special’s menu along with starters. The starters came within minutes of ordering. However the specials took an hour to arrive after the starters, and only 1 arrived... The waitress hadn’t checked our order or understood our table of two order. And to make matters worse, the special was terrible. Lacking in salad and flavour, cold potatoes were wrinkly from being days old. No samphire as advertised. All in all, it was terrible service and terrible food. Many tables around were complaining about their food and the service. Getting orders wrong, food not adequate, tables lacking in salt and peppers, tatty drinks menu. 👎

Really lovely selection of food - we opted to share 4 fish starters - a lovely crab salad with fennel & almonds, absolutely gorgeous mussels, garlic prawns & a mullet dish - great service, a lovely bottle of white wine & espressos - loved it!...

The vegan food we ordered was very bland and tasteless , on telling staff this they offered a complimentary dessert , however only for 1 of us despite us both ordering the Vegan main meal very dissatisfied with the food even the desserts left a lot to be desired, I’d advise any Vegan to avoid this place at all costs

Lovely meal, just a bit cool in restaurant.

The edge was a great place to have dinner. We had booked a few days in advance for 9 people and they were able to cater for our needs very well. The servers were very friendly and the food went down very well. It exceeded expectations. The only slight negative is that our food took over an hour. However, given the size of our group and that it was all served at the same time it was very good. We all found it delicious! Overall, a lovely place to go. We really enjoyed it!

Very nice decor and clean. Staff very pleasant. Food good, the onion rings to die for. All food cooked to order. Good that there's somewhere to eat other than fish n chips. The only disappointment was the sweet ( apple n pear crumble) which was warmed in the microwave which made it soggy, and was expensive!!!!

Really friendly service - had been to one of the posh waterfront places for lunch the day before but the Edge was streets ahead. Good kids menu - grandkids loved it!

It was a shame that we had issues here as the fish pie was superb and the crayfish, salmon and prawn salad held great promise. The new potatoes with the salad were stale , they may have been new potatoes but they were old and tasted terrible also the vegetables with the fish pie were not cooked. I think the most disappointing aspect was the server didn’t care - she didn’t go and speak to the kitchen. I suppose when you have a restaurant in a tourist town people won’t become regulars - even the pretence of caring would have been good. The stroganoff was nice, and seafood fresh and tasty, fish pie was awesome

There many so negatives….. where to start. We left this place 10 mins ago and are actually quite irritated. We just spent £200 plus and were served by the sulkiest, rudest waitress. Who then made a point of blanking us, informing us both the WiFi...

The Edge was a lovely restaurant, really glad we booked here for a meal. First time trying oysters and they were really nice. The portions were huge but that didn't stop us finishing everything it was so good. Wish we had room for a dessert! The staff were lovely, very attentive and checked in with us regularly which was a really nice touch. The only thing I would say is that from the outside it does look more like a café (which could result in many people walking straight by) and if there was a little makeover, maybe making it more sea themed side and upgraded the menus slightly I think it would be even more successful! Thank you for such a lovely night, if we ever find ourselves in Whitby again we will be sure to come back!

So when the staff ask "how was your meal?" and you try to helpfully suggest that you personally felt that the pork was cooked too long and that Pate shouldn't be runny enough to pour.. I get a terse response of "it's your own fault...

First time we tried here they didn't have room for us at the time but told us to come back in an hour's time and we'd be able to get a table, so we did a wander around the harbour and came back later. Glad...

Unexpected surprise, just over the harbour bridge. Good choice of menu, for starters, mains and dessert, plus specials. We had chicken stroganoff, succulent pork, wrapped in prosciutto and followed by white chocolate cheesecake and apple and pear crumble - all very nicely presented, very tasty and quite reasonably priced. Shame the holiday finished today!

We went here for a meal and found the waitress very miserable. There were only 2 people in there eating, so I asked if the 8 of us could sit together. She said no as there was no room? There was no one in there. There was no atmosphere at all. Quiet, you could have heard a pin drop! We ended up on 2 tables which weren't even together... We had a drink in silence and said we were leaving. The waitress went out the back to the chefs and, in a very sarcastic kind of tone, told them we weren't eating there. It was very awkward as we heard everything. Needless to say, we won't be going back. If you're thinking of going here, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Saw this cute place from across the road thought would be worth a try. (It's very difficult to find food for my daughter who has allergies) Went in and just asked if they could do anything. They explained they could adapt particular meals for her. Went safe with tomato pasta. While waiting staff where very chatty and talking to my little one. When food came out while blowing I tasted the pasta was really nice n full of flavour. 20m old ate the lot with kids cutlery that was provided and said it was delicious. Me and my wife also enjoyed ours. Couldn't manage a dessert as too full but they where even able accommodate a pudding for our dairy free & soya free allergy suffering toddler
