The Early Bird in Maidstone

We arrived 30 minutes before the end of the food service (2pm) but they still welcomed us. We ordered two dishes: the pie of the day (chicken, bacon, leek) with mash and veggies and lamb chops with mash and veggies. At first when I saw the prices I thought it was a bit expensive but when the dishes were served I saw the portions and was surprised how they were very generous, and the flavors were well-defined. The staff was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our experience. A nice pub, I recommended it.

The menu is diverse and not just the usual pub grub. The quality is very good and the service is great. Definitely worth a try

Lunch menu ok, plenty there and service good from bar to restaurant. Beautiful pint of Guinness at a reasonable price.

Adorable staff! A classic à la carte pub but delicious dishes! We were passing through and loved our dinner there. The waitress who took care of us was charming!

Went for a Roast was pleasantly surprised lovely big portion great price very tasty and home made yummy Yorkshire. I saw a pic of another review cozy little pub but one to try out will be back to try more dishes 😀 thanks!.

Just popped in for a drink so cannot comment on food at this time. The pub/restaurant is set out in various areas with some parts laid up for diners. The area around the bar has high tables with stools and chairs and has a rustic appearance.Yhe bar area has a log burning fire, not in use as I visited on a wet but warm day. There is also a garden area with benches plus wicker furniture. Food is served from noon until 12.30 and from 6pm in the evening except for Mondays when the kitchen is closed. Food is mainly English fare and there are deals and specials. Prices are moderate. The pub has live music. Twice a month. The lady behind the bar was friendly when I spoke with her. I'm not sure about parking as it's on The Tesco site and they only allow two hours car park and your car is clocked by ANPR as you enter.

Stopped at the early bird in grove free for lunch. On entering the pub we were greeted immediately with happy friendly staff the garden was a joy to sit in and the food was absolutely amazing all four of us had different meals it was all served presented equal lovely and was of outstanding quality I would highly recommend

Just had a lovely meal at the early bird. Great venue, clean, ( no sticky tables here), good selection on the menu and specials board. Staff super friendly,professional and helpful, happy to do special request if want a change to the menu. Will definitely return. Would recommend.

Classic Margherita is mouthwatering homemade pizza! Loaded potato skins are very crispy & yummy. Spicy chicken wings are delicious. The classic cheese burger is great & fantastic! Both Beef and Guinness stew and Glazed pork jelly are tender and juicy!

After having a less than perfect lunch 2 days ago at The Oak on the Green, Bearsted where our main course was forgotten & took 40 minutes to arrive, today was a completly different experience at The Early Bird!! This is a very friendly local pub/restaurant. We have eaten there many times & the service & the staff cannot be faulted. They are very efficent & friendly & also our lovely lunch was served in a timely manner. The last time we went there was 2 days before Christmas & they were extremely busy. There were 6 of us on that occasion & the service & food was just as impeccable. Maybe The Oak on the Green could learn something from The Early Bird!! I know which pub I would recommend to friends!

Just had Christmas dinner and not for the first time either, can't recommend this place enough. The food is lovely and there's plenty of it, staff were polite, attentive even though they were busy. The atmosphere there is always friendly. Lovely place, lovely staff. Thank you will be back next year.

There was a small gathering in the function room upstairs. The food and teas and coffees were lovely, but because it was busy in the bar downstairs, we had to wait a while for them to clear plates off the tables. This wasn't an issue though.

The Sunday lunch was lovely, generous portion of beef and massive Yorkshire pudding. The roasted carrots were to die for.. beautiful. Really friendly staff and lovely relaxed family atmosphere. Highly recommended :)

A nice place to go. Big enough to get a seat and small enough not to be overwhelmed. They put on a fantastic buffet, too.

Great place to go for a nice meal, just a drink and also to hold a functional. Food is always amazing, staff are friendly and the place has a lovely atmosphere.

Phoned to book Sunday lunch for our family of 4, enquired they still offered a vegan roast ( I had checked on TripAdvisor reviews prior as my son is vegan) yes, assured they did a nut roast. On arrival the table wasn't ready yet so ordered some drinks at the bar.My partner order a non alcoholic Becks ( which when we paid the bill was put through as non alcoholic) but realised half way through drinking it that it was the standard alcoholic one. We all ordered a roast dinner, I again checked with the server they had a vegan roast, she said was the nut roast ok, yes I said if it is vegan. Dinners arrived, my son's nut roast had a huge Yorkshire pudding on, I checked with the lady who had brought it, was that vegan? She thought it was but would check. Returned to say no it wasn't she could remove it or get a different dinner, I gave my son the options and he was happy to just take it off. I appreciated her honesty but was disappointed. Had my son had an egg or milk allergy this would have been concerning. The same server had made both these errors, not good enough. Unfortunately this tainted our meal out and we won't be returning.

Buffet for 30 for a wake. Good selection of food hot and cold including vegetarian and gluten free gests. Nice cream cakes. Including tea and coffee. Plenty left over and they provided containers to take away so it didn't go to waste. Would recommend.

Best Sunday roast ever.loads of meat and plenty of veg all piping hot nice gravy too.reasonable price as well.

The Early Bird hosted our wedding meal in August 2023! We couldn’t have imagined how amazing the room was going to look - Andreea really did an amazing job and we were so impressed! Then the food… my oh my… what can I say - absolutely beautiful! We cannot recommend The Early Bird enough - outstanding service all around! Thank you Andreea and Team - we will be back!!

Smart pub, nice food, lovely staff! I had a very nice prawn sandwich with great chips and a dressed salad, and my 2 friends and I shared a very lovely bottle of Pinot Grigio.

Staff friendly, pub clean and bright. Nice but smallish beer garden. A good place to waste a few minutes waiting for the infrequent bus service. Family friendly and situated close to a supermarket, post office and pharmacy so good place to relax after shopping.

The manager refused to give us the prosecco deal, we were told the deal started at 5pm, even though I check every poster for the deal and not one of them stated that there was a time frame. I asked for the vegan burger, which on the menu was described as a butternut squash and sweet potato patty. The waiter brought over a portobello mushroom and halloumi burger. I told him the order was wrong and he rushed it away apologising. He did come back and apologise again that he hit the wrong button on the till. The 2nd burger came out quickly but was also wrong. It definitely didn't have any butternut squash or sweet potato in it! You can tell from the colour of it. No one came back to check on us. We had to go to the bar to pay. A very disappointing visit. We wish we hadn't chosen this place foe lunch. We will not be going back!!!!!

Probably the worst fish and chips ever and £15.

I just wanted to thank Adam and all of the staff at the Early Bird for helping us to give my late wife Brigitte a lovely send off on Thursday. The staff were compassionate and kind and couldn't have been more helpful. The coffee and tea service and food was excellent and the fact that we were not rushed at all took a lot of stress off me on the day. Thank you all . Really outstanding service - Mark Pearson

Christmas party lunch in week loved it food hot well presented plenty of it doggie tray taken home service excellant from start to finish one of party ill so could not make it voucher kindly given for deposit so we can return and we certainly will thankyou to all friendly staff who made our lunchtime special

Food is good but very hot , good menu choice and a very cosy restaurant. The staff are very friendly. The only downside is a part of the restaurant is very dark .

The Early Bird as A most pleasantly little pub, very hard working staff though out. l held a wake there and l must say the food was beautiful the curry l hope got rid of the cold outside and the rest was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble every member working front and back of house thank you for all your efforts,

Pop in for a cheeky pint, what a a pint they it was. This is a place that look after there line, beer was crisp and good tasty and a well look after place. Definitely will visit again. 😊

I had a very nice burger, my son an equally good pizza and both lovely deserts! Good and friendly service, considering the girl there seemed to be doing everything (except the cooking!) so hats off to her too! We'll go back again.

We held a celebration of life today to say goodbye to our nan. The Early bird had a range of options and choice of a couple of rooms. The food was just beautiful, cooked and presented well. The staff were friendly, accommodating and just made the whole experience a lovely day and a perfect send off. Thank you so much!

AMAZING and that was a small roast

We had a young lady serve us. She was really attentive & accommodating. Food was impressive. We was all very happy with our meals (there was 8 of us). I had lasagne. Some had burgers, fish & chips & another had chicken. It was all so delicious! The place has a very light & airy feel with big windows. Very clean. Toilets are very clean with quirky wall paper, with a bird theme throughout. Would recommend to anyone. We all thoroughly enjoyed it!

Visited with family and friends. 4 adults and 2 children, most vegetarian. There were a few choices for vegetarians which was nice , and when I emailed to ask about vegetarian children's dishes they were able to give me a list of things not even on the menu. It was fantastic my 6 year old had a choice of veggie nuggets, pizza, pasta, burger, and curry I think. The pizzas were really good, and apparently the fish amd chips was amazing, it was massive! The mushroom stroganoff was sadly very bland and watery which was a shame as it looked amazing! The veggie curry was OK bit again quite watery and whilst they were both edible, we wouldn't get them again. The hallumi poke bowl was nice but very small pieces of hallumi. Service was fantastic and we will return I'm sure.

After a long day working, my wife and I decided to walk the 300 yards from our front door and eat in the restaurant. We were greeted quickly and shown to a table and drinks followed very quickly. We ordered from the specials board and both of us chose the sausages, bacon and mash with peas and onion marmalade. The food arrived pretty quickly and was nicely presented, hot and delicious. Service was first class and the meal was very affordable. Recommended.

Absolutely our favourite place to be. The staff are polite and very helpful and the food is delicious. We have been back a number of times now and as I am writing this we have booked a table for this week. It is our top pock for a wonderful meal. We have had different dishes each time and each one was delicious. Looking forward to tomorrow night and our next meal choices.

Really expensive I know the alcohol in London much cheaper and the double shot of bacardi and coke was drowned no taste will not be coming back really shame on you

Can’t comment on the food. Booked a 7:30 table for Xmas Eve (by email) and got there for a nice Xmas Eve meal. They waited until we’d bought a drink before coming to the table to say “did anyone tell you we aren’t doing food this evening”. Given I’d specifically said we’d take a table in the restaurant and not the bar…….. I’m told the food is good. Will have to take that on somebody’s word. We were left to wait for 90mins to get a take away delivered to home.

Went for lunch not knowing what to expect After a slight delay getting a table, I was pleasantly surprised by a good varied menu and very helpful staff. We chose the sea food plater for two, which was very tasty with a good variety of shellfish. There was enough on the plate for our size appetites, but may not be sufficient for larger ones. When I'm the area again I will return.

Cracking Pub, brilliant atmosphere

A lovely venue for a smaller party with helpful staff - it would be 5 stars but the function room is on the first floor (with no lift access for us poor old DJs!) and the bar is located on the ground floor - so guests have to go up and down the stairs to get drinks - not ideal but not a 'deal breaker' really.

Good to catch up as been a while...

We have enjoyed various take away meals whilst in lockdown. The ordering, value for money, Menu selection , portion sizes, and collection was brilliant. We can’t wait to visit again. Thanks to all involved at the Early Bird.
