Had a lovely meal celebrating our son's birthday. Food was lovely, nice sized portions, hot and reasonably priced. Will definitely go there again

This is my local and has been for over 35 years, the atmosphere is good, the service is good, the food is good pub food, that says it all.

I had a disappointing experience overall. I booked a table for six for Sunday roast, but there were no roast options available or no pre warning. The food arrival was advertised at 40 minutes wait, and with such a limited menu, it was unclear what they were preparing. The app wasn’t working, and there was no table service. I won’t be returning.

Lovely Sunday dinner , delicious deserts . The staff were welcoming , efficient and super helpful . Will definitely be returning .

Was visiting friends and had a bite to eat and a few drinks here before heading home. Service was great and staff very friendly and welcoming. All our food was great even my son loved his and he can be funny with new places. Would stop off here again when in the area.

Went in for food and drink pubs looks amazing drinks were on point clean and crisp and food was great my wife had the lasagne and I had the pie both were lovely. Rate it alot

Update. Went here 4 years ago, so thought it was worth giving it another try as it's been refused ect. Review from 20th Aug 2024 Four of us went here for a meal. We had the chicken pie, fish and chips, lasagne. My son ordered the sharers nachos (as he couldn't find anything he would eat), but asked for them to be plain. He would have got a bigger portion going to londis over the rd and getting a bag for a couple of pounds. The portion was ridiculous for £8.79. My pie case topping was hard and the chicken slimy, so I just ate the bottom of the pie, but the mash was lovely. The other two meals were OK. We had two desserts and plain ice cream. The cocktails were meant to be a treat, but they were awful. Cost over £100 for 3 mains, the nachos, two adult desserts and plain ice cream, a coke, shandy and 4 cocktails that were on offer. The staff knew I wasn't happy as I said to the waitress about the nachos, she just smiled. The staff seem to prefer the regulars and seem clicky. I 100% won't be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone. Review from 4 years ago. Although limited food as closing on the 26th for refurb, and staff were very kind, the actual food wasnt that great. My jacket was black/bruised so had to cut half away. Hardly any topping with the jacket but plenty of salad. I didnt complain to staff as they were so nice i didnt see the point, however i would not be returning.

This is the 4th time I have been to this establishment, and each time there has been a problem with either the the chef has been sick and the kitchen has shut, no draught beers because the coolers have broken and now the kitchen is not taking orders because they’re too busy. It’s 18:45 for Christ sake. One rubbish pub.

Went yesterday for my brother's 50th ,grill was broken so hardly any food .I had chicken roast ,frozen Yorkshire,frozen cheap roast potatoes.the rib if beef was so pathetic,hard and burnt they gave a refund to the two people who had it .my mum had the veggie dhansak, mostly cauliflower stalks , so hard,.the roasted veg on the roasts was hard ,tiny hard carrots .the whole meal was a let down .it ruined a special occasion.they should of shut the kitchen . With only a handful of dishes available,you would think they would be perfect!!!! Oh and the half of roast chicken was so dry ,I couldn't swallow it . Disgraceful,for the money we all spend in the 4 hours we were there . The alcohol helped . The lady with the red hair was lovely thou x

Had a really lovely dinner here last night, we both had the surf and turf and my steak was cooked to perfection could have cut it with a butter knife so soft and juicy. Great food, at good prices. Only downside they were very busy and really could had done with another pair of hands. Staff were working flat out, but still had to wait to be served at the bar for things like some mustard, some ice, a drink, whilst food going cold. Please give them another member of staff. We will be back as food so so good. Thank you.

Good place to eat if you don't want to cook and want a quiet place to eat. Food okay and anyways a couple of real ales on. Staff friendly and attentive

The food was lovely and reasonably priced. The staff were excellent and very friendly. We were a party of 6 people and all food came at same time and was hot. There is a nice atmosphere in The Earl Haig and would recommend it and will be going to eat there again very soon.

Despite not booking in advance and it being busy we were seated and warmly welcomed. Rich served us at the bar mixing a lovely cocktail - two for £12. Fantastic table service by Rich who took time out to talk to us all - our children loved him. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all. Rich noticed our son getting restless and brought out some colouring pens and paper to keep him happy whilst we finished our meal. Lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend it. We will be back. Thank you ☺️

Always a friendly atmosphere. We had two haddock and chips, one curry and sea bass. The haddock and chips and the curry were great. The sea bass was not so great. It was quite dry and looked like it was over cooked. Otherwise we had a great time.

Earl of Haig is a classy pub, with a gentle environment, affordable drinks and excellent food. Greeted by the funny guy Richie, he recommended his favourite and he wasn't wrong. Rib of beef was absolutely cooked to perfection, compliments to the Chef George (well done). Loved the portions sizes, food came out hot. Money well spent if you asked me. I'll be back next Father's Day. Already want to go back it was that good.See you soon.

I come here quite frequently and I have tk say that the staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is extremely delicious. I recommend the prawn starter! Their burgers aren't dry and have plenty of flavour. Highly recommended

Amazing food , chef George made our food mouthwatering delicious. The flavours where explosive and just impeccable. We love coming for date nights / summer dates as we always have the best experience.

What I had was very nice but as a vegan I would like more choice.

My friend and I had booked a table but on arrival it had been taken - the pub was extremely busy but that was quickly sorted out by the staff who are really friendly and welcoming. Order through the app for deals - we shared a bottle of fizz. The pub has a great atmosphere. I didn't realise the pub was dog friendly - I had left my dog at home then seeing a dog not only welcome but brought a treat from the staff was nice to see and I will be returning with my dog.

We use this pub every week. It is now under new management. Big improvement. Food and staff are exceptional.

We were 2 couples who all decided to have the roast dinner. Best part was probably the Yorkshire pudding. The few potatoes we had were just from a bag of frozen roast potatoes. There was hardly any vegetables. The duo roast had chicken and gammon. This consisted of a dried out bit of chicken on the bone with a slice of gammon which wasn’t very lean. The beef rib was dry and overcooked. We sat with our finishes plates in front of us for so long we cleared the table ourselves. So disappointed, we won’t be going back there to eat again. Would go there for a drink as the pub is very pleasant.

We were regular visitors for years to the Earl Haig. One evening a few weeks ago we ordered three meals on the Ember Inns app 2 Sea Bass Fillets and 1 Rib of beef paid £45.37 plus 10% tip = £49.91. A few minutes passed and then got a notification on the app saying no Rib of Beef available. The app was now showing just 2 Sea Bass Fillets so I ordered 1 Rump Surf Turf instead of the Rib of Beef with Pepper Sauce paid £46.56 plus 10% tip = £ 51.22. Contacted staff at the bar and told them what happened and requested a refund for the first order of £49.91. David the duty manager refunded me the £45.37 but said he could not refund me the 10% tip. So now I HAVE PAID 20% TIP. Don’t think we will be visiting the Earl Haig again. Maybe poor Dave had a bad week and needed the extra few bob. Might contact Ember Inns to see what they think of this. It's not the money, it’s about principle.

Tried to order glass of wine,bar staff attempted to serve it in a half pint glass as they were out of wine glasses at 7pm on a wednesday!!!! Absolutely mental.

Mouse was seen inside the overall pub where food was being served. I reported it to the bar staff. Just smiling and nodding. I asked "Are you going to do something?". Got a sarcastic response " We know there is a mouse and we don't want to upset the other customers. What do you want me to do about it!"

Lovely pub, staff polite atmosphere is dead, would say this pub is for over 40s. It was dead quite, apparently they don't play music cause the older generation complain.

£38.95 pint of Guinness small white wine 2 small sausage & mash, 2 Eton mess sundaes , lunch time staff working hard , small portion of food , would return but just for drinks .

Service was acceptable but nothing special. Food was good although when I queried lack of avocado on my chicken, bacon and avocado wrap I didn’t receive a response (except that kitchen would be notified).

What a complete joy and experience, food was delicious, staff couldn't have done enough for you They said hour wait as It was at capacity 25 minutes later the food was on the table It was a pure pleasure on a Friday night best food and atmosphere in Bexley highly recommended

Been coming here for a while staff always welcoming Lisa went above and beyond for us. had the chicken skewers they were amazing never had any bad food here. Now under new management I can’t complain at all well done to all the staff there

Decided to go for late lunch on bank holiday Monday, arrived at 4pm and food did not arrive till 4.45 .. the food was absolutely bland,my husband had a burger which was just about edible , I had grilled chicken which was dry and hard, a spoonful of peas and French fries .. Was going to complain, however my husband just said “leave it “ it’s not worth the aggravation.. Won’t be eating there again unless they improve standards of food prep and cooking …

The staff were nice, but the waiting time for food was about 40 mins. The beef ribs were OK, it could do with a bit more potatoes which were nice. The mix grill was good.

I went here with family for a birthday meal on an evening after work. The choice of food was very limited. 4 of our party were men and wanted a steak meal, they were refused steak as the chef said it was too late, it was only 7.30pm so "settled "for burgers, very disappointing 😞

I would like to highly recommend The Earl Haig. I had my wedding reception at this venue. The service was outstanding nothing was to much trouble. Dave,Gemma, Laurel, Ryan, Jayden and Kenny were friendly and acomadated to all our needs.The food was amazing and the menu has a great variety of dishes. Thank you again will differently be back. 😁

4 adults 2 children. Booked for sunday lunch. I ordered tomato soup. They had none!!. Food arrived quite quickly and in the main was ok apart from my roast beef which was somewhat overcooked and the whole meal verging on cold. Strange choice of veg too. Apparently though the sea bass was good. Personally I have had better.

The Earl Haig is a nicely decorated welcoming pub with polite, prompt service and tasty food. It’s also very reasonable.

Had a really delicious lunch her with my daughter and 3 yer old granddaughter. The venue is definitely family friendly: welcoming, relaxed and cosy. There is a good menu selection- including items for vegetarians. My mushroom starter and mac and cheese main were delicious. My daughter also enjoyed her fishcake with chips and my granddaughter her pizza. The nominal charge for a children's menu is also a very positive initiative. We had a palatable Sauvignon as accompaniment . The staff are welcoming, friendly and approachable; it's obviouus why the Earl Haig seems popular with locals. We shall definitely return!

The most disgustingly rude waitress who spoilt our visit. A waitress who was rude, aggressive and argumentative when we asked why 2 of our partys meals had not been served when 2 meals had already been finished. Seems to be under new management. Atmosphere still nice and pleasant. Only concern is the have and exit padlocked so can not be used to exit from the garden. Have to walk through the pub. Could be a concern if need to vacate for an emergency as closed off an exit

Went for lunch with some friends. Great lunchtime menu , good choice of hand pump beer. Generous portions, tasty znd good service. Free parking outside, good idea to book as it can be busy at lunchtime.

Friendly atmosphere and great food! Visited here with one of my service users. Enjoyed a good Sunday roast dinner and desert only. Portion sizes were spot on and didn't feel rushed when eating as my service users eats slowly. Didn't feel needed to rush through our food. Staff were great and very accommodating. Will visit again and highly recommended

The food was fantastic, the presentation was Superb and the service was excellent. Everyone was So attentive. Cannot fault anything. A Big Thank you to all that work there.

It was all good but chips could have been hotter

Booked for Sunday lunch hoping for a good roast dinner at 5pm. Firstly, sadly on arrival a board noted a 40 minutes delay - this actually turned out to be 55 minutes and no one bothers to let you know. Secondly, the majority of the starters in the roast 2/3 course offer were out of stock, as was the roast beef, very disappointed. We opted for the gammon - excessively salty and the half roast chicken - dry as old boots and virtually inedible. Order on the App from the table. After 25 minutes no drinks appeared, had to go to the bar and ask for them. A lot of tables left uncleared for some time. Appeared that only one young lad was bringing out food and clearing tables. Clearly under staffed, including in the kitchen. whole pub is fairly grubby. Doesn't look good when you are about to eat and you see a filthy skirting board caked with food residue. Will not be returning and would not recommend.

Really nice haddock & chips lunch followed by a lively dessert of vanilla icecream with munchies chocolates, crushed cadbury flake and chocolate sauce. Friendly and helpful staff. A nice atmosphere and clean loos. I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning soon

The food was lovely, we both had steak which was cooked just right. Although reasonably busy the wait for our food wasn't too long and the service was excellent. I've forgotten our servers name which is a shame because she deserves a mention. Highly recommend

My wife and I come in for lunch most Friday lunchtimes. It's got a good feeling about it, the staff are friendly (have a good little chat with Ange when we see her) and the food is good. The Portobello mushroom pie today was fantastic. Also tend to really enjoy the southern fried chicken burger and bacon mushroom carbonara.

It was my friends birthday and I’d arranged lunch for her and 4 friends. Sadly half the meals on the menu were unavailable! We were told it was due to late or no delivery of products. This was very disappointing and too late to go elsewhere! We scratched around for something suitable to eat! One guest had scampi and chips. The chips were terrible, tint pieces of fried potatoes! No decent chef should have presented them on a plate to a paying guest! The waffles were stone cold! On the whole a very unsatisfactory lunch!

Amazing experience. Went with the lads. Bacon cheese burger was exquisite. The lads loved it as well. Really calm in there except from when a couple walked up to us obviously drunk but you can’t blame that on the pub. I love this pub and I will be eating here more often. 🤤

Service was a bit slow, and the fish and chips was a bit overcooked with the fish a bit thin. Staff were pleasant but looked rushed off their feet.

Shame from how much it's improved, feels like it's slipped again. Went at lunch, many things sold out, 40 min wait for food that's fine, but drinks took 20 min, then we went up and asked and there was a pile of unprocessed drinks receipts at the bar, so then we got our drinks. Then we eventually got our food after an hour. No where near enough staff, feel very sorry for them.

Katie is extremely helpful and a really nice person.

It's a pub and its ok, just ok. not much atmosphere going on. no fault of the business but it has a certain clientele and it was our first random visit here. i dont think new blood visits this place often. they serve food but we didnt sample it.

Great family pub. Good atmosphere, clean and tidy. Menu options are varied and there is something for everyone. I am never disappointed.

It was the coldest day of the winter with outside temperature of minus 4 degrees centigrade and the heating in the Ember Inn pub was not working! Our allocated table was next to a window with freezing wind draft. We asked to be moved but were told no other tables were available. Many other customers were feeling the chill and complained but nothing was done. The management made no attempt to pre-inform the booked customers about the failure of the heating system. There were also no additional temporary electric heaters in sight that were plugged in to keep the restaurant at a reasonable temperature?

Nice atmosphere pleasant staff, food was great didn’t have long to wait for food.

Tribute ale. Nice but with a strange undertaste. TV showing horse racing, volume up! 15 people close by but only 2 watching TV. Turn the volume off!!!!
