Nice and quiet cosy pub with great food.

Having visited previously for a works Christmas lunch and had a dreadful meal, we knew it was under new ownership and having seen the menu decided to try it again. We were delighted that we had risked it as the change in food was a total about turn. Fabulous starters, all mains were very good with fresh vegetables and delicious desserts. Fantastic, just how it should be done. No comparison to the previous visit.

Only stayed for a drink but there was a decent choice of lagers and several real ales. Very clean and comfortable pub. Food menu also looks decent will try.

Terrible experience - booked a table. Had to find staff to order. Food took over an hour, and one meal was not correct - and the cheese and bacon burger was cold down one side. When I asked staff, the manager came over and told me I was wrong and having cold areas of meat would not make you ill. One of the desserts was wrong and the ice cream was not nice.

Twice this week we have stopped off for a cooling drink mid-walk. Booked for lunch tomorrow so will report on food afterwards

Nice Saturday afternoon dinner. Food was good service excellent. Will return.

Had to wait along time for the food the garlic mushrooms were awful and the christmas dinner was awful would not recommend

Great service and a nice place to sit on a sunny afternoon.

This was our third visit. Previous visits were great food staff. All good. Unfortunately when we arrived there was road works and traffic lights outside the entrance. This held us up. We did manage to get in and get a table for 6-03pm. The young lady who was serving gave us menus, we said we would like 2 Carvery meals. She then said Carvery finished at 6pm. We explained it was only 6-03, she said sorry. Only items on The menu were available. We ordered and waited 45 minutes for our meals. I ordered Steak pie. The Pie was very hot, unfortunately the rest of the meal vegetables and Gravy were not. I did eat the pie. Told the waitress that the rest was not warm she took the gravy boat away. Did not return until we had finished eating. Then said yes it was not warm. Told us we could have a free round of drinks free dessert or reduce the bill. We took the reduction of the bill as we were driving and didn’t want to wait another 45 minutes for dessert. All this because of a Traffic light delay of 3 minutes.

Food was amazing and the portions were massive! Lynn served us and she was so friendly and polite. Dan and Fay did an amazing job with the food! Beautiful decorated inside with festive decor! Thank you

Visited tonight as a winner of the new menu Guinea pig and wasn’t disappointed we had Camembert and calamari starters main course was selected at random and we got the pulled beef lasagne and beef Bourgogne both were delicious I then had a cookie dough dessert which was also delicious 😋

Food good,slight hiccup with my booking but did not spoil our experience.

17.11.24 visit great food and atmosphere .

OK so today we’ve sanded and first coated a bathroom and door. We’ve been very, very busy and there was nowt in the fridge or freezer that floated our boats so off to t’Dusty we went. Now utterly stuffed with pro belly, mushrooms, onions rings etc. we are ready for a good night’s kip before more decorating tomorrow. Thanks to the kitchen and serving staff, friendly and welcoming as ever.

Called in for drinks and food. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Ordered the Lasagna with fries and salad. The Lasagna was made using shredded meat rather than mince so wasn’t sloppy, it had great flavour and texture, also some care had been taken preparing the salad, which had a good flavour and complimented the Lasagna. Will definitely order again next time we call in👍

Visited with family and friends. Food was good but just average pub food (think Hungry Horse/Green King). If you're hoping for top class try Grey ox/3 Acres. If you are happy with average pub grub you will be content. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Our waitress (I think she was called Tina) was smiley and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Good choice of deserts. We will be back.

Just had Sunday lunch, overall was not impressed. Slow service, luke warm food. Was trying to introduce a friend from Uganda his first Sunday Roast and Pub experience. That all fell apart.

There was not a lot of items to choose from, hardly any veg and the food was not warm. The staff were very rude, unpleasant and unwelcoming, I will not be in a rush to go back.

The food was tasty, the service was excellent. Certainly value for money, and we will definitely be back.

Probably the best carvery I have ever had, all the meats were juicy , you could have beef , turkey, and gammon, and a very large portion, roasties were seasoned and crispy to perfection, the lad serving was chatty and really helpful with my g menu is brilliant also, my so had a bugger which he thourally enjoyed.

This has to be one of the best carverys that I've had anywhere everything was cooked to perfection.cant wait to visit again

I had nibbles which consist of bread and olives followed by pate for starter and main salmon with gratin potato. Suprizingly I managed to eat all it was absolutely beautiful not a fault compliments to the chefs and the staff for being accommodating thankyou.Highly recommend

Don't have the Black Sheep Blonde. Tried one on 16.09.24 and it was cloudy, full of sediment and gave me belly ache.

The full carvery should be available during advertised times. After buying our drinks and taking our orders, we were informed 80 minutes before the carvery closed that they had no ham and there wasn't enough beef for everyone but lots of turkey..... still charged full price. More ham was brought out but thinly sliced in the kitchen and the beef was tail end and been left out a long time.

It used to be a lovely place to go for food but now it has gone down hill

Went for my birthday with my family. We wete promptly seated and the waiting staff were quick to take our order. We had starters to share, and the sharing nachos were delicious. I had a steak with calamari. I would have preferred calamari rings rather than small pieces of chopped calamari. My family has a variety of meals, burgers and fish and everyone enjoyed their food. The only thing I would say is that it's quite pricey. The Beavertown neck oil is £6.25 a pint, which is what you pay in a city such as Manchester or Liverpool. I did not expect the price to be on the same scale at a local pub in Mirfield. All in all a nice experience and nice food in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Had a lovely meal food was really good but the service was diabolical, waited 15 minutes for drinks and after 50 minutes asked how long the food would be, she never came back to us asked again and she blamed somebody else, not very friendly we were ready to walk out such a shame

Last week had a great meal and service, had the Portabello mushroom & Stilton Chicken,was very tasty full of flavour and creamy. So came back again this week,ordered the same again. Totally different, service was slow waited 15 minutes for drinks,ordered food. My Portabello mushroom and Stilton chicken, how disappointing ,was completely different to last week.just tasted of peppercorn sauce not even creamy .I told the waitress there's no Stilton in the sauce,she went to the kitchen and came back with a small portion of Stilton,and said there's definitely Stilton in it which I totally disagreed with ,and she said its a different chef tonight?and how everything is made fresh in the kitchen,which I would expect anyway for the price? No matter which chef is on, the cooking should be consistent . Last week I would have given 10 stars all round, I'd even recommended The Dusty to friends which I now have to inform them it could be hit or miss if you get good service and food.

Amazing food, I’ve also had the Sunday carvery and it’s the best I’ve ever had!!

Visited for a couple drinks and were completely taken aback by how rude the women behind the bar was. A small older lady who wouldn’t know what a smile was if it hit her in the face. Everything we asked for seemed like a chore. She was moaning to another member of staff infront of other customers and was chuntering under her breath which myself and my client (an adult with LD) feel very uncomfortable. Such a shame as the drinks were nice and the food smelt lovely. Would really like to come back but wouldn’t want to face the wrath of the bar maid who clearly had a bee in her bonnet.

Early evening meal today 20/07/24 for three of us. Pre-booked so quickly seated, quickly supplied with drinks, after a taster of a beer I didn't know. Food followed in good time and it was excellent. Wide selection across all courses. Couldn't fault it, hot, well presented and full of flavour. All at decent prices. Well done to all. We will be back.

Nice pub, very welcoming staff , but the food is average the chips aren't homemade and the mash is out of a packet, why some places can't make proper chips is beyond me. The steak pies look like they are bought it, I imagine very little cooking goes on in their kitchen.

Visited two days ago and had an excellent and very well priced meal with great service. The place was spotless and the service was fast and polite. Definitely recommend.

We very regularly have a mid week meal treat, however, tonight was very disappointing. We don’t or very rarely do a review but we felt on this occasion we needed to. Up until May 2024 before the new ownership the meals in our opinion was consistently of very high quality. Although there is the same staff from previous owners who are very competent, the food is of poor quality. We realise its pub food but compared to our numerous previous visits, this is a very poor comparison. Bring back the previous chef/manager.

Tried the Dusty Miller, Mirfield after the new management takeover. Absolutely loved the Sunday lunch! We class ourselves as foodies, and I have to say - this might be our new local favourite place. I've not tried anything from the menu other than the Sunday lunch so can't comment. So glad this new management has done a cracking job. They deserve a try, we are already talking about going back next Sunday as we both came away very happy.

The food was not very good,very small portions .

First time had fish was not cooked batter was soggy . Gave it another try June the chicken was tough think batter .other meal had 2 eggs under cooked as we're the chips Won't be going back.. It was better before the new owner took over

Visited Dust Miller y again this lunchtime the food was okay but nothing special Unfortunately the service is very slow 12 people eating in the restaurant ordered a pint and a sandwich and pint it took ages. Then when need to pay had to go looking for the lady but no sign of her. Went to the other bar guy said he could take money but could not find the table went to get him the table number so he could find the bill only four tables in use how hard can it be having told him what food we had. Have given them a chance with being new but I will not be visiting again it takes too long to get your food and then pay

Had a lovely family meal (2 adults 2 kids) mains and desserts beautiful. Really recommend the burgers we had the halloumi one and the cheese and bacon one! Delicious! The kids meals were a decent size and my 10 and 8 year old ate everything up! Cookie dough desserts were scrumptious 😋 very filling meal. Service spot on can't fault the place!!

Called in for lunch with my daughter in law. We chose from the 2for £15.98 menu. She had Ham,eggs and chips. (Lovely thick piece of ham). I had the mini battered fish and chips. (Big piece of fish for the mini). Both were beautifully cooked and presented and service was very good. We didn't book but it might be an idea to book as it was filling up. Lovely outdoor space if you want to eat or drink outside. We will definitely go again.

Went out for a family members Birthday. There were 2 young members of staff waiting on wearing black, a young man behind the bar and an older lady behind the bar. We ordered our drinks and the fresh orange was taken away due to it been too concentrated and a J20 was offered in place of the fresh orange. We had to wait for the table as the people before us had not finished when we arrived at our reservation time. The lady in blue was rude and quite abrupt in her manner. The young lady who took our order was friendly and professional, she finished her shift not long after we ordered our food. The other young lady had a big 17 badge on and was also lovely and professional. Their customer service was very good and their parents should be proud. The food was nice but a little disappointing as some of the chicken pieces were raw. At first it looked like it was where the bone had been but when pressed with the napkin it left a blood mark. We told the young lady who said she would let the chef know and come back for the dish. The lady in blue came and we explained the other lady had said she was coming back for the dish to show the chef, the response was oh and she took away the dish with no apology. When the dessert came the cheesecake was frozen, you couldn't get the spoon through it, we sent it back and another piece came which had been warmed in the microwave and was still warm, had we known this is what was going to happen we would have made another choice. We waited approximately 15 minutes after we had finished and there were no staff around to ask for the bill. When we went to ask at the bar for the bill the staff were all stood around chatting. When this was addressed the lady in blue laughed in a very sarcastic manner and said.." stood around chatting ha that's the boss." We pointed out that Customer service should come first and as the boss he should know better. We then went to express to said gentleman who she said was the boss about the lack of customer service and the issues mentioned above with the food, he response was "I'll sort it." He said this in a very very dismissive and uninterested manner with no apology. Not sure I will go back. The issues with food yes, could be sorted even an apology would suffice but, the rude and arrogant member of staff and her unsavoury manner was extremely disappointing. For £189 it's not somewhere I will be rushing back to anytime soon sadly.

Tried this pub for the first time yesterday having seen it recommended on local Facebook groups. My friend and I ordered the burgers which includes chips and a free soft drink for just over £12. We both really enjoyed the food, it was plentiful and cooked well. We even found a space for a dessert - both opted for the sticky toffee pudding which was also very good for £4.50. The place itself is very spacious and light with having a large conservatory area. As we were there middle of the day on a Wednesday, it was very quiet so we were able to have a good catch up and enjoy our meal in peace. The staff very were attentive when it came to serving the food and clearing the table. Would I return? Absolutely - a varied choice menu, delicious food and great value.

Service and food was fantastic. First time there in many years as we live in South wales and were visiting family, chose here because we could take our dog, will definitely visit again when we are back in Yorkshire. Very good value for money

No reason to return to the Dusty Miller. The food only just reached the average mark, mostly due to small portions but the staff can only be described as rude!

Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and food. Went with 91 year old mum and nothing was too much trouble. Carvery was very good and plentiful .

A large eating area, not crowded in the afternoon, when we were there.

Server attitude bad from the start, pre booked table for 4 @ 6.30 on Sunday, hardly out of hours but yet she said oh ok come on you can sit there ( un placed table) several others set up already but shoved onto that one. Took drinks order then asked if ok to place food order, no problems then after food orders placed came back and said no Sunday menu left. Reordered and again came back with run out of x and y so can't complete your order but here it is anyway without substitutions or an offer or price reduction. Ordered more drinks then someone else came to clear plates but never mentioned would we like deserts, half an hour passed and the original ignorant server was cleaning tables down so I asked her for desert menu, she said oh kitchen is closed now, it was 8.10 on a Sunday evening! Pathetic

Eaten here loads of times and always been great but just don't like the new menu. Many of our favourites have been taken off. Hopeful that when it comes time for a new menu they will reappear.

Came last week with friends, all had a delicious tasty burger with refreshments that were top notch. We was served by Lynn the landlady, amazing woman I’d come back just to see her again! Prices were really good and all round great pub. Shall be coming back !

Great locals pub in the heart of the community. Called in with family over the weekend, the pub was quite busy but we were served pretty quickly by the friendly and efficient staff. I had a pint of Theakstons Lightfoot cask ale which was spot on, a good clean tasting cask ale and well kept. There was a good atmosphere and the singer was very good too so we stayed for a few drinks. Highly recommended!

When on earth are those controlling this establishment going to get to grips with the appalling bar service. All the positive reviews relate to food. Try and get served at the bar as a regular!! The main bar is constantly bereft of staff who can be found (one in particular) hiding in the space between the two bars on her phone and is indignant when broken off to serve. Needs sorting.

Came here today with my children and friends for a Sunday dinner which I enquired about before going no one said anything to me on the phone about not having any Sunday dinners left wasn't till I got there I was told, so then I had to order something else which I asked if they had any left first which I was told yes they did and then after my order was taken I was told they didn't have any left so had to change my order again. The staff was rude not helpful or welcoming and the food I did have wasn't nice at all. Will never return to this place again

A lovely pub/restaurant that serves lovely food. The atmosphere was friendly, especially to us outsiders. The service was very good and the prices were very reasonable. A relaxed place where we stayed for a few hours just chilling and chatting. ⭐✨⭐✨⭐

Good honest pub food, freshly cooked and reasonably priced. Friendly and efficient service. We enjoyed our visit. The menu is somewhat limited but that means the kitchen isn't overstretched. The wines are not overpriced for eating out.

Tried 4 pub's in the area no joy at 2 of them, the White Gate and the Navigation were both closed so we went to the Marsh and finished off at the Dusty Miller, it was warm and welcoming we had a very pleasant hour drinking some quality beer the staff were chatty and friendly, excellent service. Just been back on the 19th for a friend's birthday to have something to eat, what a disappointment!!!! The creamy mashed potato was still looking for the butter to turn it from dried out potato to something that was soft and smooth and the veg was a joke, mixed cold cauliflower and sliced carrots. It was our first time eating here but it will be our last. Today's beer range was mainly pale and hoppy so I went for a bottle of cider!!! £5-90, what a ridiculous price!!!!

We had Christmas Dinner on the 1st sitting and it was very chilled out, perfect for us. We didn't have to wait between courses, it was timed to perfection. Thanks for a good Christmas Dinner and at a very fair price.

absolutely disgusting. Poor customer service,manager was disrespectful in many ways. Rude/walking off when been spoken to and muttering under her breath,pure rude, drinks were flat, steak was uncooked, small portions and the vegetables were frozen food not fresh at all. The chicken tasted like plastic wouldn’t recommend staff are disgusting.

This was spot on for a great casual night out for me and my husband. The pub is decorated in such a way that you have plenty of space, but feel warm and cosy. There is plenty of choice on the menu and the food was absolutely delicious. We don't go out for many pub meals, but we shall certainly be returning to The Dusty Miller. The beer and service were also first class.
