Bobbin Carrier in Kirklees

Called in for tea and as usual received a warm welcome from Manager Bradley. We enjoyed 2 carvery meals - although I had the broccoli wellington instead of meat - everything looked fresh and well presented. Friendly and mainly younger staff were doing a great job as service became busier :)

What a great place! Passing through on the way home, Staff are so friendly, food came out quick and tasted amazing will definitely be visiting again

We went out for dinner to the Bobbin Carrier at Cleckheaton and played it safe we reserved a table. On arrival we were escorted to our table and advised to peruse the menu and order food at the bar with drinks. A vast selection on the menu so I ordered the 8oz gammon steak with all the trimmings. I wasn't disappointed, the plate was crammed and very well presented. I would recommend a visit.

wouldn't recommend this place at all. booked here on for 13 Jan 23 for a table of 15. 6 of the 15 all came away with food poisoning.🤢🤢 we worked out the 6 all are the carvery. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!! members of the group are still unwell a week on.

What a well run business friendly clean warm 👌 Picked a nice table staff came over and explained the set up we decided on drinks and a fresh carvery , great choice of vegetables potatoes meat all looked fresh and well cooked tasted homemade Staff checked all was OK and asked if we needed anything else . Love this place, played pool had a few drinks, sat and had a carvery which was really nice, food was hot. The staff are brilliant, friendly, smart and very helpful. We were able to take our dog as they have an area for this and a dog menu. Weve been several times on different themed afternoons and it really is a popular place catering for all.

The teatime meal staff were pleasant, but the food was not good and the plates were cold making the food chill very quickly. And to top the experience I saw a large rat in car park our lass up all night on and off the toilet wonderful. 👎

Met up with a friend for lunch, we opted for carvery and it was bloomin’ marvelous😋 plenty of veg and meat to choose from. We had a warm and friendly greeting on arrival and got to choose our own place to sit for as long as we wanted it.👍 We had a lovely time, and we will be back soon, Thank to Brad and Claire for looking after us.

Popped in as the M62 was at stand still. So came to do some work and a bite to eat. I had seen this before but never been I was very impressed- attentive staff and great food. It will now be a stop off and meeting place instead of by accident like this visit.

Visited for a family get together, 4 adults in all. Two now live away in lancashire, as my wife and I have visited over the years we chose the Bobbin Carrier.,for our guests Its roomy and comfy and we.ve enjoyed good meals here in the past years. We placed our orders of 4 main meals, two cod and chips, a Hunters chicken and a regular carvery. A good point, staff asked if anyone had allergies, excellent. The carvery person would be informed when the other meals were ready so all could eat at the same time, again a well done. The fish and chips were fine with mushy peas and a small type dish of tartare sauce, However, Note: a wedge of lemon would have enhanced the meal. The hunters chicken was fine, except the BBQ sauce was not smotherining the chicken, it appeared dried out, the only critisism . The carvery, was excellent no quibbles at all. At meal end, the plates were collected with not a morsel left, Overall, tasty and served hot. I would suggest, a little more detail in enhancing the food. You have to make it better than your rivals. Our next visit , we are inclined to have the carvery, can't go wrong with that.

We went as a family of 14 for a birthday, staff were amazing, food was lovely, one issue with the steak but think that was down to personal preference of our guest. Staff brought cake out that we had brought with us and our own cream as they didn’t serve double cream. We had a mix of carvery which was well received, nachos which were very tasty, steak, burgers for kids, lasagne, hunters chicken and pies. We got 20% off with military and NHS discount so for 14 people for food it cost £127 which was extremely good we felt. Thank you to the staff, due to this visit we will return for food when we want a tasty hot meal for a good price, saves cooking and washing up. Thanks again to the staff they made our night!!

This is an excellent pub: service, cleanliness, friendliness, food. Except Covering ALL the carvery meats in pepper makes choices difficult for those of us that do not tolerate pepper, especially as it is not mentioned on the menu or the descriptions of meats at the carvery itself. “Honey glazed gammon” does not suggest pepper. By all means season the meats, but don’t season all of them the same way. And why use pepper on the roast potatoes too? Crazy. So, sorry, can’t give the 5* rating this pub deserves because of the use of pepper everywhere in the carvery.

Saturday lunch. Family of 10, age range 8 to 73. Really enjoyed the meal. Plenty of choice. Some had the carvery while the rest chose from the main menu. Not too long to wait and the waitress told us when main menu food nearly ready so carvery users could get their meal and we all ate at the same time. Staff were very helpful and fetched extra chips for grandson when asked. Service was very good and polite to all. The bill was very reasonable for a large group having food and drinks. Everyone happy with their food. Will definitely visit again

I can only say good things about this place. We havent been for a while but decided to give it a go. The food was excellent and cooked very nicely, we had the hunters chicken which was exactly the right portion size for 2 pensioners on the lunch deal. The carvery looked nice maybe we will try that next time! The staff were excellent and very polite and friendly. Do try this place. Can fully recommend and we will be back! I've been here before and never rated the food so in the main I don't eat here. I have always found it very poor value and portion size poor. It is however a nice place to sit out for a beer. A Sunday afternoon with the family and I thought we would try the carvery. I Thought it would be good as Sunday the veg wont be able to stagnate and it will have a high turnover. How wrong was I. This place never had a good reputation when it was the silver birch, hence the rebrand. The Turkey & Beef I received I was dreading trying even before I got to the Veg. I asked for different meat and was refused. The Beef was incredibly fatty and the Turkey was as dry as a nun in a monastery, Mash & Roast potatoes were the only good thing. The veg choice was poor. 5 choices compared to Toby Carvery and the one up the road. Not 1 item of food along with the gravy tasted of anything. If your even thinking of eating here. DONT. Don't waste your money. you will be disappointed. Find a pub that does home made, or go to Toby Carvery.

It’s the Worst Carvery I’ve eaten in Long time the only 2meat options the beef was Dry as was the turkey the Vegetables were dry the roast potatoes were hard and the gravy was like dishwater

We arrived as a group of 15 on a Tuesday evening without a booking and they were only too happy to accommodate us. We were in the area at a military show for a week and visited every evening for dinner with numbers of between 15 and 25 people. We were looked after extremely well by all the staff. They couldn’t have done enough for us. We look forward to returning next year. From all in the Irish Military Vehicles Group or as we became fondly know as ‘the big 15’

Really enjoyed my visit, found everything was fantastic from start to finish. Food came out quick and hot, the steak was cooked perfect. My son had carvery and said the gammon was great and couldn’t get enough of the fluffy roast potatoes, even I stole one. I took my daughter to the mad hatters tea party at the bobbin carrier. This was well worth the money with characters, music, games and food. All staff are helpful and friendly and I will definitely be attending future events.
