Holmfirth Tavern in Kirklees

Food was suppose to be ready in 20min, got there 25mins later for the order to not have been started. Part of the food (donner meat) was cold, rubber textured and 100% microwaved meat rather than fresh. Pitta breads were all ripped into bits on one of the meals. Salad was soggy & brown. I usually use this takeaway whenever we have a treat for tea but twice now recently we have had a bad experience. Won’t be returning anymore

Excellent food and delivered early in deep snow.

I recently had a takeaway from Holmfirth Spice, and it was a wonderful experience! As a Pakistani, I can truly say this is the only place I trust for food. My order arrived earlier than I anticipated, which was a nice touch. I loved the option to customise my curries to my liking, making the meal even more satisfying. They also generously provided free water since I couldn’t venture out in the snow. I highly recommend Holmfirth Spice for their fantastic service and delicious dishes!

never have an issue when ordering from here normally all okay but we paid extra for cheese on the chips and none was on and I selected salad option on donner meat and chips and even stated it in the comment section and it had no salad also all food was colder than normal but hoping this is just a one off as this is our regular place we order from

The food was left at the wrong door for over 20 minutes and was freezing. When we finally had to go on a walk to find the food, it was the wrong pizza and the burger was solid, like it had come from the freezer and not defrosted.

We chose Holmfirth Tavern for our school Christmas night out & we were very glad we did! In the lead up, Chris, the owner, was very accommodating and provided us with a menu to pre-book for 13 people (although initially we thought there might've been up to 20 attending). We had a variety of meat eaters, veggies and vegan eaters & the menu was adapted thoughtfully, dependent on those preferences. When we arrived we were shown upstairs to a wonderfully festive decorated table. The usual decor is rustic & what you would expect of a bar with a nod to the American south. The service was very good, as was the selection of beers, wines and spirit mixers. The food was delicious and filling - very good value for a Christmas menu! At 9pm we were treated to live music from Chris, a variety of all American classics (think Jolene) & Christmas favourites, which we all thoroughly enjoyed and sang along to. We all had a really lovely Christmas night out & I will definitely be heading to Holmfirth Tavern for a night out again.

the delivery was on time but unfortunately the pizza arrived a little warm the food was not hot i had to reheat the food .

Table of 9 ladies visited on a Wednesday evening for our book group, on recommendation from one of our family members. After a warm welcome from the owner, we were seated in the upstairs dining area which was lovely and cosy. Interesting decor and ambience. Music-themed, the bar has music events regularly aa well. We were all served our food at the same time, something much larger local operations have failed to achieve! Excellent food and very good value, especially the steak special offer. A great choice of drinks too. Free popcorn and water provided for the table as well, a nice touch. Our waitress was friendly, smiley and helpful and we were all very impressed, so much so that we've already booked a return visit for our Christmas 'do'. I intend to visit again before then as well. Highly recommended.

Not happy the cancelled my order threw Uber eats and now they are refusing to give me a refund they said that the delivery driver was outside and I didn't answer yet there is a ring doorbell on the door no one came to the front door don't order threw Uber as they are dodgy

Just visited with our book group, we had a great night, lovely room upstairs, great selection of beers, simple food choices but everything cooked freshly and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was so good we booked to go on our Christmas book meeting. Give it a try, Wednesday is steak night £8 for steak and chips, it was very good too. 9 happy ladies.

We booked as part of mum’s 80th birthday celebrations. Initially worried it would be a bit outside my parent’s comfort zone but shouldn’t have been concerned. Good food. Friendly staff. And great live music. Mum loved it despite being next to the oldest in the place. Highly recommend

Terrible customer service. Cancelled the order 1-Hour after placing it stating the driver couldn't deliver. When contacted the takeaway claimed they didn't have time to deliver, were too busy and I couldn't order a takeaway tonight, no apology. Wouldn't order again.

Been wanting to try Tav out for a while with so many of my friends telling me to go Amazing atmosphere, made even better by the staff...first time for the food, and it took me straight to Tennessee with the epic burger and drink meal on a Thursday. Can't wait to come back, probably will try a Saturday or Friday night, as they bring over loads of singers and bands from across US and UK

The pizza was bad. Virtually no tomato sauce, so it was just dry dough with cheese on it. It's not hard to make a pizza.

Booked this place without hesitation based purely on the reviews. That was a mistake. It’s cosy and tucked away and the industrial look decor is quite pleasant if you ignore the fact that your feet stick to the floor 🥺. Ordered the nachos with hot chilli and melted cheese to share as a starter (the clue is in the word, ‘starter’) For main we ordered breaded, boneless chicken with dips and a side of fries. Everything arrived together 🤷🏻‍♂️ The chilli cheese nacho dish was stone cold obviously onviously been sat on the side waiting for the chicken to be cremated (air fryer ?) to the point that it looked almost like a basket of charcoal. Someone (manager/owner) came to ask if we were happy and I pointed out the chicken which he took away and brought something that looked better but was still pretty dry. Didn’t have time to make an issue as we were in town for a gig and the girl who served us said it was her first night there but when we paid he gave us a discount without being prompted. Obviously that bad 😞 It wasn’t busy, in fact there were was only one other couple dining. Maybe the cook was on holiday and they’d pulled in a Big Issue seller off the street to fill in 🧐 I wouldn’t go again or recommend it.

Tonight I was introduced to a hidden gem in Holmfirth. We went to a gig to watch the fabulous Steve Cade and Luke Flear, held in the upstairs part of the bar. The bar is so cute, the rustic decor and atmosphere was amazing. The bar staff are so friendly, and Chris the owner went out of his way to ensure everyone enjoyed the evening. They weren't serving food, but when I told Chris I had not eaten due to getting home late, he rustled up some BBQ wings and fries for me. Everyone had a fabulous evening and I will definitely be back. Thank you to Chris and his fabulous team for a great evening 😀 x

Hands down the best nachos I've ever eaten!!! Also the chicken wings! Also the kids meals.....okay so clearly it's all amazing 10/10 for food. Brilliant atmosphere, excellent live music, fantastic service. Absolutely zero things to complain about. Stellar place!!!

Food was dry and tasted hanging. Bhajis were undercooked. Chicken tikka looked like it'd been dipped in gravel. Not impressed.

After a truly amazing concert (Tommy Emmanuel) at the 'Picturedrome', 'Holmfirth Spice' gave me the 'Single BEST' Doner kebab I've tasted in YEARS!! 💖 Not only that!.. it came wrapped in paper (first) then foil.. and, once opened and tasted, I 'KNEW' I would have to write a review!! So.. 'THANK YOU, HOLMFIRTH SPICE'! You're the 'GO TO PLACE' for me!!! I'll be looking at your menu, every time I leave the 'Picturedrome'! You're a credit to Holmfirth!! 🍒😊

The bread for the burger kind of falls apart after a couple of bites but overall it was perfect

Had a kebab special Chicken Shiah kofta salad on a nan . Absolutely disgusting chicken shish cut in to tiny pieces kofta small asked for salad slithers of lettuce asked for mayo none husband asked for chilli £. 7.50 two scoops of meat in the Nan it was wet cold Nan and hardly any meat for that price . We like kebabs but when we got in our car to eat this we can honestly say ripped off . Why cut the meat like mince salad none we counted 6 slithers no onion cucumber etc so what you get is not what’s advertised , we are visitors here so are they rip off merchants we have taken photos and will be reporting to standards of fair trading as this empty Nan break’s advertising on wall . Anyone going there please think again I see they have a 5 is that genuine well our photos don’t reflect that needs health and safety in as it was cold

Placed order at 7.30pm for 8.30pm delivery. Arrived at 9.20pm. Called twice for updates, and given times that weren’t stuck too. Have ordered from here many times. Unfortunately won’t be again. Sorry.

Missed a curry from the order and took 40 mins to deliver the missing curry

I lived in the states for 15 years and when I moved back to England, I always craved a proper American cheeseburger. I searched high and low but could never find anything that was quite right. McDonald’s, Burger King, five guys, just wasn’t cutting it. Then on a Friday night I stumbled across this lovely quaint bar in Holmfirth. I got myself an American cheeseburger and oh boy, was it yummy. The burger patty was cooked perfectly and it was so juicy. American cheese was melted on the patty and was finished off with mayo lettuce bacon on a sesame seed bun. Genuinely the best burger I’ve had since leaving the states, if not better. I also had deep fried Oreos and they were heavenly.

Had a great evening at Holmfirth Tavern. The staff were amazing and there was such a great atmosphere. Food was really tasty too! Would definitely recommend.

Superb hidden gem in Holmfirth. A genuine dedicated Coutry Music Bar, with special live performances from the new generation of country stars. Excellent range of cocktails, especially the Old Fashion's, 5 different versions to experience. Beautiful range of classic American style food, wings and burgers are plentiful and trust, some of the best wings I've had outside of the USA, served with the classic blue cheese and celery

40 of us come over from Sheffield for my brothers 30th birthday and wow what an amazing night. Chris the owner looked after us and made sure we had the best night, he even performed for us which was brilliant. Lisa the main act was incredible. The service was brilliant. And the food wow I’m still thinking of the wings now. Great drinks and such a lovely place with a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend and we can’t wait to come back.

Shouldn't take over 2 hours to deliver food less than 2 miles away.

Good for drinks and live country music, however the food is not as good it was before. Please bring back the previous menu and chef, as on 23/03/2024 I have tried this new menu, and I’m sorry to say it’s been very disappointing.. the portion sizes are very stingy, comparing with the previous ones, and the food very salty (despite having ordered three different items from the menu, all were salty). Didn’t want any confrontation, so I have paid the bill without causing any issues for the staff. The disappointment was higher, when I have tried positively feed-backing this experience to one of the waiters/bartenders on my way out, for my feedback to be dismissed. I am considering to be coming back for drinks and the great music, but definitely not for food.

Had food and drinks for my birthday, all were amazing. The cocktails were to die for and the food was lovely and massive portions.....took some home. The staff were great, very friendly and welcoming will definitely return.

Visited Holmfirth Tavern last night with a friend for a few drink and was treated to great service from Alesha and co. Tavern also had some great live music playing. Great place to visit.

We always love the tavern. It's a local haunt for us, the service is great, lovely beer and nice food. Georgia served us so it's lovely to be able to give her some positive feedback.

We came to get some food. The cocktails were that good that we came back in the evening for some more. The staff were welcoming. The food was amazing. The drinks were great. You should definitely come here for food and drink ks.

The food is amazing and ready very quickly when picking up. however I tried to call to see how long it was gonna be and couldn’t get through I was gonna ask if I could pick up instead as I go past and was on my way to something (ordered at 6:30) and couldn’t get through so now had to sit and be late due to waiting time….. Other than that the pizzas are top notch from here and highly recommend

I have had lots of meals now from here. The quality and service is excellent, I have had many of their dishes and I would reccomend them to anyone. Our food is always on time, the orders are.always accurate and the food is always hot and of a restaurant quality. I can't speak highly enough of what they do. Top quality stuff.

Ordered a 4 cheese pizza and burger cheese on a margarita isn't it. Poor effort guys.
