Absolutely delightful food and staff. Great customer service and the food was clearly cooked and presented by a chef who has a real passion for food. Can't recommend highly enough!

I visited for sunday lunch with my wife and daughter. The food was delicious and service impeccable in a comfortable and cozy environment. A great find, well recommended.

Another visit with friends and never disappoints… sea bass was milky and perfectly cooked. Fish pie is apparently better than mine 😳 cheeky… I would always recommend visiting to eat. Fabulous..

This was our second ‘family’ visit to this highly popular gastro pub based in Honley, near Holmfirth. We’d booked for four people but when five of us turned up, they very easily found a table big enough for us without any fuss. The drinks order was taken and delivered very promptly. The cask bitter from Wainwrights brewery was excellent and was the wine, gin and diet cokes! We orders pink sirloin of beef x 3, a venison and a pork…. All with Yorkshire puddings and vegetables with gravy. All came out quickly and piping hot. We had cheese cake for desert. All the food and service was excellent. The price was very reasonable too. We shall return. This place is highly recommended and hugely popular with a great atmosphere and great friendly staff! 😉👍

Great pub in lovely place - fab Sunday lunch

Went to Holmfirth on the way back from Sheffield and was struggling to find a decent Sunday lunch!! Ended up asking a local shop owner and in stepped Jacobs Well 👌 Sunday roast was awesome, I had belly pork and my wife had roast beef. Wow is all I can offer, service and atmosphere are tip notch. Heartedly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Jacob’s Well was so lovely inside. Having never been before it was not at all what I had expected from the outside. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Excellent service and food with lovely hot plates. They serve food all day every day too which is such a wonderful rare find in this area these days.

Friendly hard working staff comfortable surroundings and lovely food. Will definitely return.

Love eating at Jacob’s Well. Early bird great value. Want to praise the staff who are so efficient, know what they are doing, and are so friendly and pleasant.

The Jacobs is our “go to” place to eat. The food is reliably good and the staff are great! I only once had a problem with some venison and, when asked if everything was ok I mentioned that it was a bit chewy. The staff apologised profusely and the chef insisted that I had a fresh dinner. You can’t say fairer than that. We always eat too much because it’s all so tempting.

Always had a great experience however on this occasion service wasn’t as good as usual as we were too we would have to wait up to one hour for deserts and as this was for a special occasion we were disappointed

Called in for lunch. Friendly staff. Good tasty food. I did have one query with my belly pork meal which came with bubble and squeak. The bubble and squeak was more like mashed potato. Where I come from it is potato and vegetables mixed together and fried.

Just wanted a drink while we looked at the menu but were practically thrown out when we mentioned drink. Not a pleasant welcome at all.

Lovely place we managed to go on a hot day and enjoyed the beer garden, The food was delicious we only had lunch so it was just a sandwich but it was delicious, the staff was very helpful and professional

The food was very tasty, the portions were a good size. You really need to book ahead because it's really busy. Jacob's well was clean, and the toilets were also clean and easy to access. We took my mum (who is in a wheelchair) with us, and they put the ramp out to help with access, which was fantastic.

Nice little pub the staff were warm and friendly, and the food was excellent! Good outside seating area with a higher area with views too. Sure we will pop in again soon

Been here afew times these last few months and this is definitely becoming one of my fav places to eat out. The food has been quality ever single time, the service and staff are amazing and the price for what you get cant be beaten. The chicken burger is by far one of best ive had. Definitely recommend 👌

Had the slow roasted lamb shank , was beautiful, shared the crab an prawn starter , very nice , not much crab , but loads of prawns, and shared a lime cheesecake, well an truly stuffed , highly recommend.

Been hear for years always great food and service. Came today food not up to scratch service scattered waiting on pudding had to ask again 🤔🤔🤔 I felt like who is on front oh house to get staff in order. For what I struggled to eat only because I was hungry and price very disappointed 😞

Went yesterday lunchtime for my wife's 82nd birthday, everything was first class from arriving to leaving, plenty of choice from an extensive menu, service was first class, will definitely go back

My friend and I had enjoyed a bracing walk around nearby Honley Wood so this ideally situated pub on the main Huddersfield to Holmfirth road was convenient for a healthy and hearty meal and that is what happened. The menu is varied and should surely suit all appetites and palates. I enjoyed a fish sandwich with a choice of white or granary bread and it was accompanied by a delicious side salad. My friend had the steak and ale pie that looked and I'm tasted ideal. All in all, an enjoyable dining experience though I must mention that it is dog friendly. I am not a dog lover but the policy is clearly advertised outside the premises so I had a choice but I'm so glad I took the plunge while I have to mention the staff who were courteous and attentive throughout.

Very disappointed with the Early Bird. Having been before I was looking forward for the 2 course lunch. The choices were awful compared to before. Only 3 starters and mains. Soup, Mushrooms or Squid. Chicken Goujons, fish n chips or veggie meal. Sorry but not good enough. Seems like you started off with an amazing Early Bird to get people in then dropped choices & standards.

We had a great time, food was tasty and huge portions. Better than your regular pub food, someone in the kitchen definitely putting heart into it. Staff were really lovely as well and made us feel looked after.

First time we have been since we came back to live in Yorkshire, went for Sunday Dinner had the lamb Shank was amazing just the roast potatoes let it down very hard and burnt otherwise perfect dinner.

We visited on Sunday afternoon , Christmas eve , the pub was busy .our party of six were seated efficiently ,our drinks order taken and delivered promptly , the food order was taken and our choices was served promptly , the food was excellent , the waitresses did an excellent job , as usual, and the bill was reasonable at the end , thanks .

This is the 3rd time I have visited this establishment. The first time there was a draught from a door at the end of her room. Hence we ate our meal feeling cold. The second time the waitress was positive rude, asking us, even before we had sat down, what drinking we would like. Our third visit today ( not my choice of eaterie) was with friends. Again we were asked before we had even sat down what drinks we wanted. Is it not reasonable to actually take one's coat off and sit down before being approached by the waiting staff?Unfortunately this was not the only issue we had. Two of us ordered the turkey dinner. The vegetables were fine but the turkey was not a fresh or even one. It was processed turkey meat which didn't even vague resemble turkey and frankly didn't really taste like it. Is it unreasonable of my friend and I to expect real turkey meat when ordering a turkey dinner?. I doubt very much if I will ever eat here again.

The food that we had was absolutely delicious just a shame that we had to share a small bowl of cabbage and half a dozen bits of green beans between 2 people which wasn't enough for what we paid per meal.

Chose the early bird menu and only managed 2 courses very satisfying and tasty. The bread was swapped without fuss for a unseeded loaf, due to my allergies. We didn't book, it was Wednesday at 4pm.. so thought it would be ok, they kindly got us the last table in the bar area. So advisable to pre-book!

Stopped off for an impromptu Sunday dinner on our way home and it's the best decision we made. The lamb shank and duck breast were so delicious and a special shout out to the amazing Dauphinois potatoes Highly recommended

Absolutely beautiful meal for Hubbies 60th Birthday meal together ❤️ Given a 3 for atmosphere as we booked for the restaurant well in advance as it was a special occasion. After arriving early we were told the restaurant was full and we could sit in the bar ? I said we'll we would rather sit where we were booked. Such a shame we were then sat next to a family with very young children celebrating a young party it seamed. Not very atmospheric for us. The meal was gorgeous though but we didn't stop for a drink after.

Cracking little pub. Very popular and busy when we visited. Group of 11 with kids but still had great service. Food was served very quickly and was beautiful. Definitely recommend. Unfortunately I live too far away to visit regularly
