The Duke William Lincoln in Lincoln

My wife had liver … lovely , no complaints. I had fisherman’s pie .. supposedly with.. Salmon, cod, clams, prawns, squid & haddock in a creamy white wine & herb sauce, topped with mature cheddar cheese mash, tenderstem broccoli, braised fennel & roasted chantenay carrots. Although the taste was ok , it consisted of a few very small pieces of white fish , a very small prawn i could hardly see . I do remember one piece of squid, and to be honest I don’t recollect any salmon. You need to up your game if you are changing £18 for this. Let me say i like this pub , have had some nice beers and sunday lunches here and are not one to complain .

Stayed for a weekend break and this was a lovely base in Lincoln. The room was comfortable, well equipped and nicely decorated. There were nice touches, such as cookies on the tea tray and nice toiletries. We had a larger room and had the comfort of a sofa for relaxing. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We had a very good meal in the pub which had a range of cask ales and a great atmosphere. This was a great place to base ourselves for a visit to the city, highly recommended

Stayed 1 night, lovely clean and cosy accommodation in a great location, fabulous hot fresh breakfast in the morning & all staff here are very friendly and welcoming

The food, service and the restaurant space were all warm and welcoming. Food was delicious 😋! My linguini was so flavorful without being overly spicy and my husband's steak and ale pie was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. We finished with a homemade slice of cheesecake. The restaurant itself is a cozy space with a great staff.

Great stay, the bar and restaurant provided excellent drink and meal, excellent friendly service from all the staff and kitchen. Room was very comfortable and quaint with the meandering corridor! Never been offered filter coffee in a hotel room before, great touch.

Lovely restaurant, very popular so book a table. We were there for 2 evenings, food fresh and delicious (particular praise for the salmon souffle starter). Very efficient, friendly and welcoming staff who all seemed to be always smiling - however busy they were. Highly recommend

As a family of six we booked in for a Sunday lunchtime. We got a nice table in pleasant surroundings, with a satisfying busy buzz about the place. The kids had a child’s roast, and burgers, and the adults went for the roast. All of the food was excellent, huge Yorkshire puddings, lovely stuffing and rich gravy. The deserts were great too, I had an excellent bread and butter pudding, and perfect espresso. A special shout out the waiting team, who were very attentive, charming and helpful. We had a very nice time indeed.

I originally chose The Duke for its location and price, but it delivered so much more. We had a pressing appointment when we arrived. Olivia gave us a warm welcome, told us our check in could wait and our bags would be kept safe in the meantime. On our return, the check in was super quick and we were delighted to find our bags had been very kindly brought to our room (they were heavy, thank you!!) The room was lovely with an old world charm, yet quite modern and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was luxuriously spacious. I had the best sleep! Dinner was delicious and service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was generous and well prepared. By then I deeply regretted only staying for one night. This place deserves more than a one night stay and top marks. I hope to return for a longer stay next time. Our thanks to all the staff at The Duke!

Mothers’ Day lunch excellent food and service nice balanced menu

Visited the duke William for a meal and it was absolutely amazing. Small bar area but restaurant seating is spacious and looks like it has been extended.

We stayed 3 nights in the hotel. The location is central to the Castle, Cathedral, Museums and “Steep Hill” towards the city centre. The hotel is quaint - 17th century, with uneven flooring. The room is comfortable with coffee facilities. Bottles of water were provided daily. We particularly loved the cookies on the first day - nice touch! All the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. We had 2 dinners in the pub. It has a very good selection of dishes including daily specials. The desserts were delicious. It’s so popular and busy however so booking is advisable. The staff managed very well. I would like to thank Fallon and Dom who made it special. Dom welcomed us on arrival was charming and smiley all through our contact with him. Fallon was engaging and proactive. The breakfast was cooked fresh according to our request the night before. I must add Olivia and Lawrence who were so efficient and work so well under pressure. Lastly thank you to Darren who cooked a special request of mushroom omelette not normally on offer. It was very much appreciated The hotel has an excellent staff who created memorable stay. We will certainly stay in the hotel again if we are ever in the vicinity. There is an alternative 2 bedroom cottage for holiday rental attached to the hotel.

Came here for dinner while staying in Lincoln. Really cosy pub, great food and service and very reasonable (just over £100 on 3 courses, wine and an after dinner spirit for 2). Only (very) minor downside, a very noisy table next to us (not the pubs fault, and didn't want to make a fuss) and a couple of items not availible that we were not informed of until after ordering. Overall, though pleased with our choice and would certainly reccomend. Really easy to book on the day via their website.

We ate in the pub and would highly recommend it. The staff were great and helped us to a table where we were comfortable with a dog, pram and small child. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and flexible and the wine was lovely and much needed 😆. I’d definitely return.

Service here is great, warm and friendly. This is a really great country style pub and restaurant with a lovely menu. Food arrives quickly and is consistently good. It’s our go to pub / restaurant for nights out with friends and family.

Food was good, service was good. Shame the bill was wrong, admittedly I didn’t query it as we were in a rush, we had a starter and main from the 2 courses for £19 and a Diet Coke and was charged £51 - shame something so easy was wrong.

Great venue with excellent service, a modern and diverse menu and great atmosphere. We had booked in advance which was a great idea because some late comers were being seated outside, which speaks volumes about the popularity of this restaurant.

After seeing reviews, we were keen to visit this restaurant. We were very disappointed. Our starter, salmon soufflé, which we shared, was delicious. However, after that it was all downhill. My husband ordered pork belly with chips and vegetables. The dish had obviously been kept warm under a hot light and was overdone and dried up. I chose fish pie with braised fennel and glazed carrots. On arrival the vegetables turned out to be dry Savoy cabbage and dry ordinary carrots and no fennel. The fennel was one of the reasons I chose the dish. There was a list of fish that should have been in the pie, but I struggled to find much fish apart from the odd mussel and prawn and rubbery squid. It was mostly sauce and mashed potato. We complained to the waitress who said it was not up to their usual standard and brought me some microwaved fennel. We declined a complementary dessert and were given a discount. We were looking forward to our meal on the last night of our 3 day visit to Lincoln and were hugely disappointed

Excellent service from the staff, who were very attentive & very pleasant. We all had different things from the menu & everyone was really pleased with their choices.

This is a lovely, old pub on the Bailgate. We have previously stayed and eaten evening meals here. This time, we just grabbed a sandwich - they were huge! However, as they tasted so good, we wasted nothing.
