Up the Junxion in Lincoln

We went for lunch. My tuna salad was delicious, my partner had the chicken and bacon sandwiches and said they were 'average' everything else was good but the sandwich was disappointing. We had tea and cakes. The tea was great- soya milk. Blackberry and raspberry cake was great, not had anything like it before! My partner had the carrot cake and said 'mmh was nice but icing was too sweet' Overall, good visit, would go again!

Difficult review to write as the food was very good but the service was shocking. When we arrived at about 1.30 there were lots of tables needed cleaning on arrival, so obviously been busy lunch time. Quite a few things were sold out but we placed our order. The owner was very friendly, but he then went out and this is when it went down hill. A lady came in and asked for a table she was told just find somewhere, she also asked about sandwiches and was told quite rudely read the menu they are listed in there. There was an older couple sat at a table eating who I assumed were paying guest but it then seemed as they were ‘staff’ or family helping out. It was the lady from this table who was rude. A couple then came in and took a table, because by this time all the tables were in need of cleaning when they asked for it to be cleaned the same lady said I’m busy I’ll do it in a minute. We waited about 20 minutes for our sandwiches and in all that time the other couple hadn’t had their order taken, they were again told to wait when they asked if they could order. Thankfully normality resumed once the owner came back, and the satisfaction checks were taken and the couple were able to place their order. We didn’t know the other couple but we did pass comments to each other about the attitude of the ‘waitress’. The sandwiches were delicious, and the prices very good. But it appeared if you was new you were not made welcome by the older couple. I may try again to see if this was a one off. Fingers crossed it was

This tea room is both cosy and beautifully decorated. We had hot, fresh omelettes served with a generous side salad and homemade coleslaw which was served by friendly welcoming staff. The coffees were fresh, hot and strong and at less than £20 to fill two people I'd say it was excellent value at today's prices. Booking highly recommended during busy times as most tables were reserved.

My husband and I had breakfast at Smith’s Tearoom recently. The food, service and ambience is second to none. Such a lovely place to be. Their menu is extensive, very good pricing and affordable. Highly recommend the tearoom.

During one of the lockdowns I ordered a take out afternoon tea for my parents who enjoyed this, so decided to go back and visit the tea room for another afternoon tea on site with my parents. So much food and everything was fresh and very filling. Even took some cake home for later. Such a lovely tea room.

Even though we hadn’t booked Matt soon found us a table even though he was very busy. Great service, delicious afternoon tea, lovely atmosphere, nothing too much trouble, visit, you won’t be disappointed.

Superb afternoon tea for my friends birthday, we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble, lovely, friendly atmosphere, really impressed, already looking forward to my next visit.

I really don’t want to write this review as it’ll reveal one of the best places in Lincoln to indulge in afternoon tea and then I won’t be able to get in!!! But I think you discerning folk of Lincoln need to know. Where to start…absolutely fabulous afternoon tea coupled with excellent service and an incredible setting. An excellent choice of sandwiches freshly made to order - we had smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber and cheese with red onion chutney - delicious. Wonderful scones with clotted cream and jam. The cake choices are amazing - we had chocolate orange and cherry bake well. It’s served with a salad garnish, sliced local sausage roll, soft fruits, macaroons and tray bake cake. We had tea, which was unlimited, coffee is also available. You don’t need to ask for more tea/coffee as the lovely staff offer refills as if they know you’re ready for it!! You will not be able to finish it!! We couldn’t so were offered a box to take the rest home. The setting is perfect - small but perfectly formed! Really cosy and friendly. The crockery is ‘vintage’ styled and absolutely beautiful. The whole setting is wonderful - you’re made to feel welcomed and looked after without being smothered - we felt comfortable and relaxed there. So, reluctantly joking, I’m recommending this place to all of you - don’t wait for an occasion to try this - just treat yourself - you won’t be disappointed. I should also add that it’s excellent value for money - we paid £15 pp which is excellent. You can also purchase traditional sweets from those large jars - a lovely touch.

We ordered lunch for our office on Friday to collect- calling through the order on Friday morning for a midday collection- from start to finish the customer service was absolutely fantastic- so friendly!! When we collected the tea room is beautiful! The food was absolutely stunning! One colleague said it was the best smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich she had ever had and the scones were just delicious! So much so another colleague rang them after lunch and booked a table for afternoon tea the following day! Thank you for such a lovely lunch and we will definitely be ordering with you again

Can’t find fault . Picked up a takeaway afternoon tea. Everything on it was perfect. Really well presented, fresh ingredients & tasted amazing. We’ll be back!

Having recently moved nearby, I noticed how lovely, quaint & spotlessly clean Smiths Tea Room looked & decided it would be ideal to take my mum for afternoon tea on her 92nd birthday & so went in to enquire. I was warmly greeted & informed that we could eat whatever we wished & choose what we wanted when we arrived which proved that the food would be freshly prepared! Upon arrival, again we were warmly greeted & told that we could sit wherever we liked. We were presented with the menu & could not believe the wide choice of sandwiches along with choice of bread together with option of having it toasted. We were asked what we would like to drink & told that both tea & Americano coffee was unlimited & we could have ‘top ups’ whenever we wanted. Our food arrived & was lovely presented, of generous portions & everything tasted delicious! Throughout our visit, we found the staff all to be warm, friendly & very attentive & the overall atmosphere in this super establishment together with being excellent value for money, makes it hard to be beaten. Thank you to everyone for everything - we both enjoyed my mum’s birthday lunch so much that we have already recommended you to family & friends & you will definitely see us again soon!

Beautiful afternoon tea Great to choose instead of just getting sandwiches. Fillings and bread delicious. Crisps sausage rolls all lovely. Scones amazing!!! Cake we had to bring home we were so full! Will definitely return. Staff were lovely really friendly and we felt very comfortable

Four of us have just been for lunch. The tearoom is very nicely presented, we were greeted well and the service throughout was very friendly. Our food was freshly prepared and very tasty. For people who might be worried about eating out in these strange times, don't be. There is hand sanitiser available and social distancing is maintained. We all thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and we will be back! Thank you Smith's tearoom!

We recently this lovely, cosy, interesting cafe (not a restaurant) and are now regular visitors for lunch - and afternoon tea. Matt and Julie make us very welcome and cook and serve delicious food. The poached eggs are beautifully cooked. But then, the omelettes are great, the salad on the side very fresh and tasty with not a limp leaf to be seen. Lovely cakes ..... We highly recommend it. getting very popular - we make sure to have a table by ringing to book before we go. They also host Knit and Natter, and have various evening activities with food. A delight.

We came across this cafe on a recent short visit to Lincoln house sitting and was impressed with the cleanliness friendliness and varied menu that they offered so we had a second visit. Would recommend a visit if in Lincoln

We visited on the weekend for a friends baby shower and I cannot wait to visit again! The afternoon tea was delicious and there was plenty of food! The man and lady (maybe the owners but I’m not 100%) could not do enough for us. They were friendly and attentive and always ensured that we had what we needed. Thank you very much

A most welcome break we all just popped in for a snack and discovered lots of interesting elements here, including the jars of sweets bringing back lots of memories from our youth. The service was excellent catering for our needs and in nice pleasant surroundings with good conversation too from every one a very friendly atmosphere. We all would recommend a visit to taste the cakes and enjoy the drink plus activities.

Brilliant afternoon tea brilliant service and it is excellent value for money and a very nice size.the cakes have a really good flavour and the coffee is very nice as well it is proper bean coffee.you can even take the leftover home with you if you have any left.will definetly come back again for cake and coffee or even afternoon tea.

A wonderful little tea shop, with massively glorious food and presentation. Definitely will visit again and use the take out option for afternoon tea. Fabulous. 🙂

We had a good welcome, we had afternoon tea, a Good choice of sandwiches, asked about allergies, food came which looked good an effort had been made, a selection of cakes, some savoury, and fruit. A doggy bag was required so plenty to eat. A very good afternoon tea would highly recommend, one of the best we have had recently, some have got very basic not this one. I would definitely go again

Visited with friends for lunch. Service was friendly and prompt- they were happy to pull tables together for us which was nice. High chair was available too. Good choice of food and reasonably priced. Sweets for sale were very tempting 😋

My daughter wanted to have an afternoon tea for her birthday and chose his one after recommendations from friends and we weren’t disappointed, lovely atmosphere friendly staff and most importantly fabulous afternoon tea ...so much food we had to take a doggy bag home! I won afternoon tea here at a school raffle.. so probably somewhere I wouldn’t have gone otherwise.. the afternoon tea was absolutely amazing ... absolute gem of a place. Owner was very attentive and accommodating.. would not hesitate to recommend..

On my annual visit to Lincoln I discovered Smith's Tea Rooms and thoroughly enjoyed my lunch there. We chose the cheese & ham omelette, which was eggscellent (sorry couldn't resist that!). The lady serving, cooking and basically doing everything was lovely, very friendly & helpful. Fingers crossed you are open for my visit in 2020!

Smiths Tea Room, formally Up the Junxion is a friendly little tea room, that serves the best coffee local to the Junxion area. Still owned by the original owners. It’s had a refit and now sell sweets from the old fashioned sweet tubs. I found that the coffee house/tea room to be clean and mrs Smith to be very nice and chatty lady, her sevice was swift and very enjoyable. Next time I might even have a slice of cake with my coffee.

Beautiful decor and friendly staff. Recommend the club sandwich. Very tasty and filling. Look forward to going back to try a slice of cake. They looked yummy. Just needed to give the entrance door a shove as it sticks and was catching on the floor.

Been in a few times. The food is always fresh and the cakes are fantastic. It is spotlessly clean and the staff can't do enough for you. A very relaxing and welcoming place

Myself and a friend heard good things about the cafe so we decided to give it a try for breakfast. We both ordered eggs benedict and instead of hollandaise sauce, it was just salad cream. Also the ham that can with it was a very off colour.

Stopped in on Saturday for a bite to eat and a slice of cake as we only live down the road and been wanting to test it out for a while. When we arrived the lovely ladies behind the counter asked if there was any chance we fancied afternoon tea at half price because a reserved party hadn't turned up! I have no idea why anyone would want to come for it because it was fantastic! Good a huge pot of tea, choice of sandwich fillings, sausage rolls, nice scones and a great selection of little bite size cakes and macaroons! I would be very happy to pay the normal price for 2 people as it was very filling and everything was delicious.

This is a super Coffee/ Bistro cafe in Lincoln. The food is so well presented, and tastes wonderful as well. They do various breakfast styles, I chose Eggs Benedict absolutely scrumptious. There is a super choice of baguettes, sandwiches and cakes which, are made locally. I would recommend a visit if you were in this area.

We visited this café for coffee and cake. The place was modern, bright and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was a good selection of cakes and snacks. I opted for Nutella brownie and had a flat white. The brownie was tasty and very crumbly. My partner had a cappuccino that was equally good.

We went for a wintry walk and needed a good cup of coffee to revive us. We found this lovely little cafe and had the best coffee and a piece of carrot and walnut cake that was absolutely delicious.

A most welcoming tea room situated at the junction of Boultham Park Road, Skellingthorpe Road, Rookery Lane, and Moorland Avenue, aptly named “up the junction”. We both enjoyed afternoon drinks and snacks and being welcomed by the staff who stated nothing is too much trouble and true to their word. As we fancied a chip butty sandwhich each with coffee, which was fourth coming with a cheerful smile so nice too. Well worth a visit in a most pleasant atmosphere where we were able to relax and chat in nice surroundings away from the hustle and bustle. Our friends and neighbours Claire and Ian were so impressed they recommended we should visit to sample these treats including the large choice of home made cakes too (see our photo).
