We had dinner here one quiet weekday evening. We had a very nice 3 course nice meal chosen from an extensive menu. The helpings were just of the right size for us (as pensioners), the food was tasty and served hot. The waitress was really polite, helpful and pleasant. The restaurant is located in a rectangular room well away from the bar areas, not particularly intimate but restful (I think it doubles up as a function room). There is a decent sized free car park at the rear of the pub (access is from a side road, not directly from the main road through Sleaford). Price wise, it was very reasonable. We would happily eat here again.

Called in Wednesday dinner time for a drink. Good beer, well kept and served by a super friendly bar man. He even gave us a sampler glass of a raspberry wheat beer that we commented on to try. It wasn’t particularly to my taste. All in all, I’ll visit again the next time I’m in town.

Popped in on the off chance having received a local recommendation. They kindly agreed to let me have a table around 6.30pm but I had to be finished by 7.30pm because they were fully booked after then. Fair enough. The three waitresses looked very smart in green and were very helpful and friendly. Started with a gin and ginger. I asked for plenty of ice and expected to see the drink to arrive in a large gin glass. It arrived in a tumbler with four ice cubes and the ginger ale mixer could not fit in in one pour. This is basic stuff, but I put down to inexperience. I went for creamy garlic mushrooms followed by their cheese n bacon burger and chips. The mushrooms - I could hardly taste the garlic and they were somewhat overpowered by balsamic vinegar, but enjoyable enough, with the crusty bread. The burger I found quite condensed/stodgy but it tasted okay, and the chips were nicely done. I think though what summed up my experience was when I asked for a single glass of red to go with the burger, the glass arrived - followed by a mini bottle of Shiraz with cap still on, for me to unscrew and pour! Again, I can only put down to naivety or poor training, but the wine was good, and it did arrive very quickly. To be fair though- the whole lot came to £20.50 so if you want to find somewhere which is good value but somewhat rough round the edges- this is a good option. At a personal level, though, acknowledging that the heart was definitely in the right place service-wise, it lacked the basics and finesse and the food I can really only rate as ‘ok’ - so with plenty of competition in Sleaford, I will try elsewhere next time.

We use this place regularly as it is close to home. The staff are friendly and the food is tasty. The Marquis attracts local groups including families. Paul the chef will go out of his way to accommodate special requests. we had our 30th wedding anniversary gathering here and the day was made special by his excellent buffet and friendly staff.

Good food, from an establishment you would not expect to serve food of the quality delivered. Friendly and clean.

We were very nicely suppressed, it is what it says on the tin. Not trying to be more than it is, no slates no silly mini chip baskets or any other gimmicks thank goodness. Really great thank you 😊.

I Was taken here for lunch today by a friend; on the advice of the Deputy Manager of Aldi (thanks). Well on first appearance its a fairly typical English pub with still some traces of real regulars, I have been in Sleaford 23 years and never been in the place, but ... The Staff, Mackie a one man stand up show, an aloof funny guy that could not do enough to be helpful and cheery but not invasive, Emma a very helpful waitress and host and willing to share what the Stables had to offer behind the main Bar, which is a great area at the rear of the property which has a lovely formal dining/events room. The food was great from the great chef Grace no-one could not have done more to make us feel welcome or well fed, Great Pub Grub at the very best prices around Sleaford, I have paid much much more for a lot lot less and left unhappy but this was excellent value and made my day!

on arrival I felt this pub was a little bit jaded. The exterior and furnishings were visually old and worn. I was due to meet with some friends for the Sunday Carvery. The staff however were amazingly friendly, open, welcoming and only for them it could have been a very different review I was writing. The sunday lunch at £8.50 was a selection of roasts, I had turkey and beef both were extremely tasty, there was also pork on the carver and roast potatoes yummy, homemade yorkshires, every selection of vegetable you could imagine, cauliflower with white sauce, roast parsnips which were very good also. All the veg was fresh. Gravy and various sauces. There was a water station - great idea. we were so full we weren't sure about dessert, one to share became 4!! Sticky toffee pudding was delicious and home made lemon meringue pie very good, the fruit crumble was the only thing that let it down. The crumble was soggy, obviously reheated. We had fresh cream on the side. Everything was well presented. The waiting staff were excellent and attentive and helpful. All in all a very good meal. toilets were clean but very shabby. We were able to overlook the shabbiness of the pub because of the wonderful people there and the fresh tasty food served.

Eaten here a few times and not had a bad steak yet. Last nights was 8oz rump with scampi and chips, £8.50. I asked for mine well done and it was cooked perfectly. Have eaten at many more expensive places who can't cook a steak to order so I like the chef here! Restaurant is nice and its quiet and can talk easily. Pub/bar area is really busy always so it's nice to have somewhere away from that to eat. Will definitely be back.

Went for Sunday lunch today on the recommendations here and also a peek as a group of ladies looking to have a get together meal in the near future. We ordered a glass of coke and a red wine, was not given any choice or size option and a pint glass of coke was brought out for a lady! I ordered the roast beef and my friend chose of the normal menu of braised lamb in Guinness. A lovely selection of fresh vegetables was brought with the meal however a little disappointed with the lamb casserole, a little chewy and lacked presentation the roast beef was a little thin and had dried out. I know we were the last people at 2.30 but the last meal needs to be as good as the first. I was looking forward to dessert having mentioned home made on the website but sadly none of the desserts were home made today, my friend had winter crumble which was apple and cinnamon but had a minute amount of crumble on and I had apple pie and custard, both had been warmed in the microwave and not crisp, and lacked any presentation, my friends was £1.95 with the normal menu but as I had had the beef mine turned into a 2 course making the pudding of £3.50 which was well over priced for what I received. Sadly the waitress had to go and ask in the kitchen about all our queries and there was no asking if we would like coffee afterwards. Such a shame as the restaurant and toilets were clean and pleasant. Staff training and a little more presentation would go a long way,

Just visited, didn't know what to expect as I hadn't made the booking. Gabriella served us excellently, steaks were the best ever, and she ensured we had all we needed without being overbearing. Definitely recommend this place, will be back next time I'm in Lincoln

Enjoyed a Sunday roast….. Offered a Good choice of meats or fish & chips. Piping hot food freshly cooked & plentiful carved choice of one or 2 sorts of meat. A Small or regular portion is available at a very good price. Followed by a varied selection of desserts which are a very generous portion. Lovely friendly service in a traditional public house setting. Would recommend without hesitation.

I am so lucky to live local to this wonderful tea shop. The BLT sandwich is to die for. Lovely, fresh homemade coleslaw and salad to go with a very generous, well presented sandwich, and of course crisps. I can only rave about every aspect of the place. Staff are welcoming, food is delish, atmosphere inviting, well-priced. The only thing is, it is so popular that you can't always get in. Luckily for me, they have sustainable packaging for takeaways. Do book if you want to sit-in though. Oh, the coffee is also fabulous.
