The Drummond at Albury in Guildford

Me and my boyfriend came for late lunch today and we were very disappointed with the service and the quality of the food. He ordered the roast pork and I had the ox cheek. I must say that my dish was very tasty but unfortunately it came cold and his pork wasnt the best quality for that price we paid. When they served us the food, no one asked us if we want anything else and by the time I wanted to ordered more drinks the waiter was gone. I also ordered some extra vegetable that we never received and because no one checked on us we couldn’t very complain. When the waitress came to collect our plates I pointed out all the things mentioned above but only to get reply: sorry we are busy would you like anything else? We asked for the bill and left. This is such a shame because I have been to this place before and had completely different experiences. Unfortunately I think this time the experience wasn’t worth the price we paid and we won’t be rushing back.

We had a fantastic time at The Drummond, from the beginning of our arrival the customer service was excellent with all my queries being answered promptly and great suggestions & contacts provided for my needs, unfortunately there were no taxi’s available to take use to The Silent Pool distillery where we had booked a tour , so one of the team took us in her car, thank you so much Flor that was very kind of you, The Drummond is truly one of the best I’ve stayed at, our only wish was that we had stayed longer there, the interior decor extremely tasteful, warm comfortable beds and spotlessly clean, in our large room there was additional luxury of a roll top bath, we dined in the restaurant for lunch and as there was so much choice of deliciousness on the menu we decided to book a table for dinner, I highly recommend you dine there our meals were cooked to perfection and presentation was excellent. Thank you Tom and your team, we really enjoyed our stay with you and will most definitely return

A lovely evening, and we stayed over in a very comfortable room. Walking the North Downs Way, the Drummond at Albury is convenient to the route and made a very comfortable stop over. Welcoming and professional, and the needs of tired walkers were met in full. Refreshed!

We’ve often visited The Drummond for an afternoon drink after a walk nearby, but this was our first evening dining experience. The weather was warm enough for us to dine outside, but the supplied blankets were a nice touch. The food was fine. Nothing fancy, nor anything to shout about, but not horrible either. Service was prompt and friendly, which is always a bonus! Definitely a place to return to on a summer evening, but not if you’ve got a massive appetite!

Came here for lunch with husband and in-laws and had a really lovely afternoon. Firstly, the service and hospitality were first rate. Warm friendly, welcoming, and professional. The decor is beautiful and tastefully done with a lovely seating area in the garden by the river. The food was delicious and well presented. We have already booked again for sunday lunch next month when we are visiting my in-laws.

We stayed overnight we had a lovely room it was big and lots of space and looks newly decorated. The bed was very comfortable the gardens are beautiful the staff was all lovely. The breakfast was really great too. Differently would stay again.

Lovely venue but empty and soulless, food was OK but no gluten free bread or rolls even though they advertise a Gluten Free Menu. Just a note the shop next door sells gluten free bread.

We were staying nearby, so we popped in for drinks after our dog walk. We sat in the very pleasant beer garden, overlooking the river. I can imagine it gets busy here in the warm weather, but we had the garden virtually to ourselves as it was raining slightly. Good choice of beer on tap, lovely looking traditional pub inside, and it had the feeling of being a good 'locals' pub, which is what it's all about really. Certainly worth a visit if in the area.

The pub itself and its garden are both really lovely, in a very attractive setting next to the river. The staff were all friendly and generally helpful, although we did seem to get a bit forgotten and had to ask for things like a menu at least twice during the whole meal. But I'm sorry to say that our food was the worst of the regular pub Sunday lunches that we have around Surrey with our friends. My husband and I both had the chicken, which wasn't dry (something good!) but was bland. Potatoes were not great (but then they so rarely are when cooked in bulk), vegetables were fine if bland and carrots plus cabbage as the only veg isn't exactly generous either. The Yorkshires were nice. The gravy seemed to have a life of its own, in that it somehow kept on escaping several of our plates. It was very very salty indeed and ended up dominating the whole meal (but also was the only thing that really provided any flavour). The stuffing was fine. We both went for the apple crumble and custard for dessert. I haven't got a clue what spices/flavourings were put into the apple mix but it was definitely to the detriment of the flavour - you literally couldn't taste apple at all (which takes some doing if it was actually Bramley apples, something I have to admit I'm not convinced of because of the total lack of apple taste), and whatever it was left an increasingly strong, not pleasant presence on the back of my palate. Cloves? Ginger? Too much vanilla? Not good, anyway. I make a much nicer one at home! In short, a disappointing meal in very nice surroundings. What a shame.

We were made to feel at home by Keely from the moment we arrived. We were staying only one night here in a birthday trip and were upgraded to a fantastic room, given glasses of fizz and a happy birthday dessert too!! All the staff at this beautiful place in the leafy Surrey countryside could not of been nicer making this a truly memorable stay!!

Nice pub in the river. The beer garden is really lovely. Breakfast was good but not great. The toast was hard and cutting some of it was very difficult, the tomato had something on it that smelt garlicky, the eggs were overdone. The rest was lovely though as was the service. The toilet wallpaper needs redoing. We enjoyed it.

We visited Albury for my partners birthday as his friends live in the Woking/Gulfport area and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants high quality for a very decent price. From the rooms to the food everything was 10 out of 10. We stayed for the evening meal on our first night and the food was phenomenal. We expected breakfast to be like any other hotel breakfast but we were very wrong, this one was EXCEPTIONAL. Over our 3 days we had a range of items on the menu and all were delicious from the veggie breakfasts to the ones including meat. We would recommend anyone to stay here and will be visiting again when we come down again. Very easy transport links to central London too!

For our wedding celebration with friends and family we wanted somewhere special that we had visited before and enjoyed. We are so pleased we chose here. The staff were professional from planning and discussing options with Tom, to the amazing delivery on the day. The food was excellent, truly delicious, a very creative and successful menu for our guests with perfect timing. All of our guests commented on how good the food was and how attentive and welcoming the staff were. Jacqui and her team on the day were first class from the welcome drinks and throughout. Thank you for making our day so special.

We stayed at The Drummond as our son had an audition in Guildford so it was convenient. The room we had (in dog) was just perfect , very clean and just right for our one night stay. The evening meal (£70 off the bill as part of the DB&B price) was outstanding !!! Best dinner we have had in a very long time, even for our 11 year old. The staff were courteous and friendly and even fussed the dog. I cannot recommend enough. We had an undisturbed nights sleep in a very comfy bed with the kids in a separate room off our own room. Breakfast the next morning was again outstanding !! Fantastic quality again - somewhere we will visit again , even more if our son gets into Surrey University !! Can’t thank and recommend enough!!! Had a late Sunday lunch here and the whole experience was fantastic, from arriving at the bar and ordering a drink to leaving after we’d eaten. We’d arrived early but were given a seat in the bar to enjoy our drinks. My partner suffers from hearing issues so we politely asked if the music could be turned down a touch, and they responded immediately. We went through to the eatery and ordered two Sunday roasts, one was pork and the other the vegetarian wellington. The menu is great plus we were informed of the specials on offer too. The food was absolutely amazing - presented nicely and plenty of it, topped off with a big Yorkshire pudding. Vegetables were nicely cooked (roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips and fresh greens on the side). The vegetarian wellington was gorgeous - full of flavour - I’m not veggie but would wholeheartedly recommend it. It wasn’t too big which with the amount of veg might have been overfacing and I really enjoyed it. My partner said the pork was excellent and it came with some lovely crackling. Sadly no room for a pudding but the choices looked really good! Well done The Drummond - friendly, efficient staff and nothing was too much trouble. Compliments to the chef - probably the best roast dinner ever!

Not a great birthday celebration. Only went because I had an offer of a free bottle of wine or £25 off any bottle. We didn't want a whole bottle so asked if we could have an alternative. The offered wine must have been very cheap because all I got was a free Mohito. At least they called it a Mojito but actually it was a lime soda with mint. As for the food, my husband's seabass was a very small, dry fillet with underdone sautéed potatoes instead of the listed new potatoes. My duck leg was tasty but rather dry. The cheeseboard should have consisted of 5 cheeses but they had run out of one. We were offered more of another but refused. I was still surprised to be charged the full amount for this dish. The treacle toffee pudding was excellent. We also had Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and were very disappointed. Just an average pub Sunday lunch with tough beef.

Wonderful overnight stay. Really spacious room. Vey comfortable. Unbelievably delicious breakfast. Vegetarian full breakfast with vegan haggis. Try it. It's amazing!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit on Easter Day for a roast after a walk. I’d braced myself for a long wait on such a busy day but the staff were lovely and welcoming and very efficient. Food and drinks came quickly. The roast beef was excellent with a huge Yorkshire pudding and lovely veg & gravy. The dining room is really pretty. My son loved his rhubarb cheesecake. Excellent.

Lovely pub, we had a good meal, the service was very good and the food reasonably priced. We stayed the night and the room was a good size very clean and well set out. Breakfast in the morning was very tasty too. All the staff were all excellent and couldn't do enough to help.

Hello, I have just returned home after an experience I will not forget after eating at one of your Peach Pub Franchises. The locations of your pubs are noteworthy...your menu is certainly not! We ordered your Pork offering to be confronted with four small fatty pieces of pork, sitting on cold red cabbage with a sickly sweet  carmelised  sauce.  There was nothing substantial in the meal at all costing  around £18 which we ate in three minutes flat!    I took out the four bits of fatty pork and wiped off the nasty sweet stuff with a serviette then took of the flabby fat and ate the four tiny morsels of pork and it was still sickly sweet.  I found myself  filling up on Smarties you give out with coffee after my walk in the Surrey countryside! I came home and fixed us all some lunch since we were all starving!  This was a belated Mother's day treat at your pub in Albury. It was a huge disappointment and money for old rope.  Who do you think you are kidding? What's wrong with the old pub grub with lashings of vegetables and plain gravy and a Yorkshire? I will never eat in a Peach pub again on principle because you are trying to pull a fast one!  Its literally day light robbery and although my East Horsley local pub is also a Peach pub and I used to love it I will be informing people of my experience  in this locality.   I remember the days when we had a carvery at the Duke of Wellington and it was superb.  You couldn't eat another thing on a sunday afternoon! Just look at your empty tables and weep Mr Peach!  The sun was out and noone was around in your Albury pub.  PLEASE READ THE ROOM AND BRING BACK SENSIBLE PUB GRUB!  Not this caramelised rubbish which is so sweet it's poisonous! What are you trying to pull?  Me and my friends are off to The Onslow now in Clandon where we can get a decent bit of grub!  With no sugar ...good meals are sugar free and your target customers have dodgy pancreas' since we are all in our 60s now! BUT WE ARE THE ONES WHO STILL HAVE SOME CASH TO SPEND.  What ARE you thinking?  😖 Mrs G East Horsley

I have been really impressed by the improvements to this pub since the major refurbishment and new ownership. However a small event put me off. I stopped for a relaxing glass of wine this evening. I was disappointed to smell people’s pungent vapes in the bar. I asked the staff if this was allowed and was assured that it was not! Even so some vapers were allowed to continue. I think vaping is totally unacceptable in an indoor public area, least of all a gastro pub! Minus 2* from me.

We stayed here overnight on the way to Gatwick. We had planned to arrive around 7 for a leisurely dinner before staying the night but extreme traffic delays meant we were nearly 3 hour late. Very kindly the manager arranged to have some food kept warm for us and made us feel very welcome when we eventually arrived. A really great service and a very comfortable room. we're only sorry we couldn't stay for breakfast - next time!

Wonderful English pub with superb food, vibes and ambience. I have come here many times over the years. It’s up there as a pub of choice for food and a wonderful English experience. Firstly it’s in a beautiful part of world. English countryside personified! Secondly the food is fantastic. A la carte and also the Sunday lunch with amazing roasts and meats. I had parsnip soup (delicious!) and the roast pork (divine!). My parents had the roast beef and roast lamb and they very much enjoyed their meals. Great find in the Surrey Hills. No wonder it’s packed most days. Booking ESSENTIAL.

This was a lunch for Valentine’s Day so we wanted something special - and we got it. It’s a big pub but full of character and the dining area looks lovely. Proper linen napkins etc. We started with a shared baked Camembert, cooked just right, gooey and delicious . Followed by lamb with spinach and a cauliflower and celeriac gratin. The lamb was beautifully tender and very tasty. The gratin also was creamy and cheesy and the celeriac gave it an unusual twist. Hubby managed a pudding but I had the coffee and mini pud- still a generous portion. It’s not cheap but we couldn’t fault the quality and taste.

This is a lovely country pub. I’m not sure if it’s the best pub in Surrey but it’s certainly very good and very popular. It has a great atmosphere and it looks superb. The staff are very welcoming/kind. Our room was great: a good size with very comfortable beds. I can’t really comment in detail on the food. We didn’t have dinner, but breakfast was decent. I loved the fact that it was prepared to order; there is no buffet. Highly recommended.
