We stayed at this spot while attending a wedding nearby. Once we checked in the owner was very apologetic explaining how the Wifi was not working - he then took us up to our room which was small but cosy. We had dinner on the Friday night and the food was to a good quality and price bracket not bad also. The highlight of this place is the breakfast in the morning - nothing is too much bother and it is presented really well. It is easy to access the property if you are coming in late at night and there is a car park as well. Really well run and very clean! Worth a stay if you are close by!

We stopped in for a quick drink as we couldn't check into the accommodation we were staying at as yet. I don't know about this place. The venue itself is beautiful, warm and looks welcoming. We had a look at the menu which was a bit different but that's fine. But the atmosphere was just not there. Granted we were there in the afternoon and it was relatively quiet but I can't really put my finger on it, but something was just lacking. It didn't help that the bar staff were rather short and abrupt. It was fine and okay for a holdover but there are definitely other places I would recommend going to in the area.

No volver!

We went to the dove for a family get together - central point to rendevous. We'd booked a table which was ready. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet. Surprising as it was Sunday lunch time, the food was great and the setting was lovely. We ate inside which was comfortable and homely, but nicely done too. Between us we tried all the roast options - beef, Turkey and nut roast. We all loved our food. My nut roast was excellent. Rarely do we find a pub one to compare with a home christmas dinner, vp but thus one did pretty well.Generous servings, but it was so good we all decided to make room for pud. We went for the crumble which was also beautiful.Service was swift, and ip rices fair. This is not a toby carvery or harvester - the food is of a higher standard, and the setting nicer. It retained some of the pubby feeling that can be lost when pubs go up market. We were very pleased and would definitely go again if the occasion arose. There wasn't a huge menu - but as the food was clearly all home made, a large menu wouldn't be possible. I'd rather this than lots of microwaved dishes...

The location is excellent; pretty pub in pretty area just minutes off the A303 where the southbound M3 ends. The landlord is very welcoming, friendly and really engaging. It was refreshing to visit somewhere who clearly understand excellent customer service. Three of our party enjoyed a massive roast beef Sunday dinner which was superb. Quality food for an excellent price. One person had the BBQ pulled pork bap with chips. We look forward to the next time we are in this area so we can again enjoy this lovely, comfortable pub. In fact, they offer accommodation so at some point we may make a special journey just to stay.We all loved our afternoon at The Dove Inn. Thank you for welcoming us.

We used this pub numerous times throughout 2015; I work in London and Her Ladyship worked (at the time) in Micheldever. This is a great stopping-off point when you need to meet in Micheldever. In fairness, I think it is the ONLY meeting point in the dormitory village that has grown up around the railway station! The trains stop roughly every hour at Micheldever station. This inn is 60yards away, across the station car park and the side street. Always a good range of beers, enjoyable food and a sensible car park for my chauffeuse to park when she arrives and joins me for food.Mike

Whilst staying at nearby Blackwood Forest we called into this pub for lunch as it had been recommended by friends who had also stayed in the area. The landlady was very welcoming and gave us menus, there was also a specials board and on the tables small menus for jacket potatoes and baguettes. We ordered home made lasagne with salad from the specials board £9.95 and ham, egg and chips with peas also £9.95.The food was lovely, the ham was thick cut and looked home cooked, the chips were amazing, hand cut and looked twice cooked as they were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. This pub has a nice atmosphere and a shabby chic look which is very fashionableReally enjoyed our lunch and would highly recommend a visit.

Popped in here for drinks and nibbles while waiting for tyre fitting and wheel alignment at Micheldever Tyres (200 metres away). Owner/Manager/Chef and his partner (wife?) extremely welcoming - a good selection of drinks and well kept ales (Doom Bar was very good) and nibbles. Unfortunately we were in a rush so could not stay for lunch but the menu looked good with a tempting selection of home-cooked dishes on offer (steaks, mixed grills, pizzas and vegetarian). Comfortable armchairs and nicely proportioned rooms with a shabby chic style which suited the age of the building. Spotlessly clean loos (always a good sign!)Would be happy to try out the food next time I'm in Micheldever Station.

I cycled there from Forest Holidays as it was the nearest place and am glad I did. The barmaid was very friendly and the whole place had a cosy feel. There was a fair selection of real ales including Resolve, Doom Bar and Red Cat, two of which I tried. I moved outside to the beer garden and despite the pub closing at 3pm I wasn't hurried out and could finish my drink in my own time. A nice place if in the area.

We arranged a family meal at The Dove on Sunday 6th September, for my Grandad's 82nd Birthday. We had a couple of drinks in the extremely clean and comfortable bar area, and then moved on through to the restaurant side, which similarly to the bar space, was clean, spacious and inviting. As a party of 8, we thought the food may take a while, however before we knew it we were tucking into our beautifully 'Home Cooked' meals. The portions were very generous and the quality of food and service were exceptional!Overall, our visit to The Dove Inn made my Grandad's 82nd Birthday hugely enjoyable. I will certainly be returning, and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality food at reasonable prices.Thank you very much!

My husband rang this pub to check whether we could hang out drinking coffee before having lunch while our cars were being serviced at Micheldever Tyres. We wanted to be organised and check this because we have a new baby. Having been here before and enjoyed their food we were keen to go again. He was told that while they serve breakfast til 9.30 only, after that we were welcome to come and have coffee etc until their lunch is served from 12.00 midday. We therefore got our 3 month old baby up from her nap this Saturday early morning and arrived at the Dove at 9.45am to find it completely closed. When we phoned them and said we were outside we were told they were not open and that we would have to come back at lunchtime. My husband explained that he had spoken to someone and this was not what he was told at all. Unfortunately the unhelpful staff did not care or want to know. At this time there was nowhere else to go to wait with our baby while our cars were serviced. We would happily have spent they day there with lunch and snacks and plenty of drinks as I'm breastfeeding. Obviously they completely lied to us or staff require training because we had nowhere to go at that point with our baby. Had I known this I would have stayed at home. We are not on the doorstep of this pub either with a 20 minute journey time. What an appauling service. We will not be eating here ever again and will tell all our friends and family about the way in which we were treated too.

Found this Inn yesterday by chance and what a find. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, served drinks promptly and were advised we could have Sunday lunch in the bar or in the charming, more formal dining room. We choose the later. The food at the carvery was all fresh, piping hot and well presented. Having selected our meat option there were at least five vegetable choices to grace our plates plus roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing balls and gravy, all of which we're cooked to perfection. Desert was delicious too. Our waitress was attentive and charming. The landlady gave us information on the area and was incredibly helpful. Lovely place, excellent food, great staff, well priced-what more could you want?

Staying down the road, we were looking to eat somewhere which catered for our family's slightly fussy preferences. Having checked the online menus of a few, this seemed to best meet our tastes. We ate early evening on the outside tables. Generous portions of tasty well cooked food, covering grill, vegetarian and standard pub options.Like other reviewers, we were surprised there weren't more customers, as the food price and quality deserve a greater audience, but suspect that the reality of maintaining revenue from a more traditional pub setting has lead to a compromise of the restaurant ambience ambitions.

Lovely pub in lovely surroundings. Good beer and reasonable prices. We were asked to eat earlier than requested due to another large booking. On arrival we were rushed into the dining room, no time to relax over pre dinner drinks. service was otherwise friendly, but absolutely no sign of the other party. The menu was limited, but this is usually a good sign as extensive menus mean boil in the bag food from Brakes. Unfortunately the food was well overcooked, but this did not spoil a great evening. The staff looked after us well and the children used the garden and play area to keep themselves amused.

So we ate here in early May 2014 - as a family group of nine. This is a large pub / restaurant but seemed deserted when we visited. That's odd, because the food was good - OK it was standard pub carvery but the roast beef and roast pork were excellent, the service was friendly, the surroundings were nice.......where was everybody? My only criticism was the price; around £11 for a carvery is a bit steep, but not silly money - that's why I'd rate it "average" rather than "very good" - the food was very tasty. Oh, and we couldn't see anything displaying the price anywhere; maybe that puts people off?

A big shout out to these guys. Service & food was brilliant. We were visiting my dad in the hospital & as the visiting hours are 2pm onwards 🙄 I thought I would take my mum for lunch first. Thank you, we will be back ! Might even bring dad lol

How can you mess up a Ploughman’s Lunch? Come to the D&C and see. Microwaved half baguette that went dry, crisp and stale immediately. Cheese was appalling. The worst type of cheap, tasteless, doughy cheddar. Pork pie that was missing the pork. We will not be returning.

We thought it was good but no more. The staff were very polite and attentive. Excellent sourdough (although would of been nice to be included on a £49.95 for 3 course lunch) and cracking pigs in blankets. Cured trout was a lovely light starter. Beef fillet although accurately cooked lacked the wood fired characteristics. A fillet really doesn't have enough time to get flavour from the wood fired oven due to its size. Other larger cuts of beef with some fat would be a better choice. Accompanying veg were ok but the cauliflower cheese again lacked any of the advertised 'wood fired' flavour and cheese sauce a little thin. We also thought this recently when dining in the Avenue restaurant what a shame there are no real local sparkling wines listed. Yes Ridgeview is in Southern England but some 70 miles away. You've got excellent quality producers like Black Chalk, Hattingley Valley, Louis Pommery, Raimes, Candover Brook and The Grange all within 10 miles.
