Had a Sunday lunch the beef was inedible and so tough I could not cut it. The rest of the vegetables were fine. Toilets were dirty and the place looked like it needed a deep clean .i would not recommend it.

Unfortunately during our lunch my friend found a black hair on her plate. Not wanting to make a fuss I just asked for her plate to be taken away. I really expected when we had the bill, at the very least a deduction would be made but amazingly not. I sent a private email stating this expecting st the very least an apology but again NO. No reply to my email. Terrible customer service & certainly won’t be returning or recommending to anyone.

A very dog friendly, traditional old pub with character. We stayed for two nights with our two dogs and the accommodation provided everything we needed for our stay. A good base for exploring the local area. The bar was busy with couples and small groups having meals both nights we were there so it’s clearly popular with the locals. We ate there ourselves and enjoyed our meals. Good chips! The breakfast was very good indeed.

Run down pub that shows its age in not a good way. The place needs a good spring clean and re-decorating. That said, our meal was good and we were served well by a young waiter. Would I return? No thanks

Can't fault the staff, they were lovely, friendly and professional. Food however was disappointing. We all had roasts. Food arrived on cold plates, only thing hot was the roast potatoes. The meat was overdone and the veg was undercooked. We've eaten at The Dog many times and the food has always been great, but today was very disappointing.

Came up on the recommendation of friends who had had the lamb shank. My wife had the lasagne which was home made and superb came with lovely garlic bread and fresh salad My Mother in law had the lamb shank which came in a lovely red wine gravy with seasonal veg, usually comes with mash as well but she asked for chips instead which was no problem for the staff I had the mixed grill which at £18.95 was superb. Steak, gammon with fried egg, lamb chop and a sausage with peas and chips It was absolutely superb, my one bit of advice , put the price up to £22.50 and add mushrooms, grilled tomato and a slice of black pud and you have perfection on a plate Lovely meal and we will be returning soon

Thursday 5th july. I came to this pub with good expectations as was told good thing, I was very disappointed. The service was not what you would expect from a business in hospitality as they waiters where rude and simply gloomy. The menu was basic and uninspired, exsacly what you would expect from a weatherspoons. I had the mushroom brei Wellington witch seemed to have been cooked using the microwave. raw pastry, microwave burnt filling, and carrots over cooked so much it was a surprise they held there shape. The rest of the meals followed the same trend of most likely cooked in a microwave.i could only assume that the chef's have lost all passion for there job or just don't care. They ended up taking the Wellington of the bill but made no effort to say sorry for what was a sh*t meal. Hope they can use this as a wake up call and start to actually cook but I feel like it's just another pub slowly failing.

Excellent pub à l'ambiance familiale avec un très grand jardin fermé permettant aux enfants de jouer à l'extérieur pendant que les adultes profitent de l'ambiance si british de ce pub !!!

We visited for lunch yesterday having not been there for a few years (since the previous landlords) and we had read favourable recent reviews. We were not disappointed. We received a pleasant welcome, the local ale was spot on and the Thatchers Haze was also good. We ordered food and the waiting time was reasonable given how busy the pub was. The lasagne was lovely and served with garlic bread which was not burnt, and the quiche, salad and chips was very good too. A very pleasurable experience and we will definitely be back.

Good job we booked as pub was full on our arrival.Friendly atmosphere and dogs welcome.Main courses included Cod,Moulles,Scallops,Trout,Swordfish and Spaghetti Bol for younger diners. All thoroughly enjoyed but Burger disappointing.Nice, reasonably priced wines and good pint.We had a bit of a wait but we did arrive at peak.Would recommend especially for fish lovers. After lunch we completed an interesting circular route using (access right opposite The Dog)

We thought we would give this pub ago, as we hadn't visited for quite a few years. It was a Saturday night, and not very busy, and we hoped to eat quite quickly. We did in fact wait about 30 minutes for our food to arrive, and I've never had such a hot plate,as the one my food was presented on, the poor salad wilting in the heat!!! The food however was lovely, we would eat here again.

We have eaten here twice. Out of four meals two have been very good and two have been very average. So I guess it is best described as hit and miss. The salmon was overcooked. The sweet and sour was I bit tough and chewy and the sauce was not good but the ploughmans was excellent as was the prawn dish. The toilets are a bit of a negative experience though. Especially in the winter months.

I visited with my 9-month-old twins and had a toastie, which was reasonably priced and very nice. It came with a little pot of tomato sauce/soup stuff on the side, which was a good added bonus. Coffee
