We enjoyed a half board package for one night. The room was large and spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The food quality and selection for breakfast and dinner was faultless. The staff were all extremely professional and friendly . Would definitely return for food but perhaps not to stay overnight as I felt the price of room was too expensive considering there is road noise and parking was also impossible on a Sunday afternoon.

We fancied a treat for the Bank Holiday weekend, and when we saw this offer we decided to go for it The room was clean, comfortable, and had all the mod cons you would expect Dinner was an absolute triumph with three very tasty courses and excellent staff waiting on our every need Breakfast after a good night's sleep was also presented very well, and tasted great We would have no hesitation coming back to The Dog

We stayed for a 2 night dinner, bed and breakfast package to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was friendly, helpful and professional from start to finish, and the food was consistently excellent. Thank you to all the staff for a memorable time.

We had a fabulous evening at The Dog for our wedding aniversary,excellent service from the moment we walked until we left, the food was excellent and the waiting staff could not have been any better, great evening.

It was very busy on a Saturday night but the service was still good. The taster menu was fine, not mind blowing, but fine. We paid an extra £70 for accompanying wines with the taster menu, although we didn't realise it was extra, maybe that's our fault, we didn't read the small print when we booked. The wines were nice. We stayed in a nice enough room and had a nice breakfast. The service was generally excellent, the food was good enough and I guess many people think it value for money. At just under £400 for a couple for one night with dinner, bed and breakfast, (that was a 'special' offer price), I thought it was a bit steep. (Service is added at 12.5% to everything except the room and our dog (@ £25 a night). On that basis a full price package would have been over £550, with service added would it be £6-700? So can it really be a discounted offer or just marketing? Be clear if you book a package for £250 there may well be very substantial extras you weren't expecting. If I was having one night away with dinner and spending £4-500 would I choose The Dog? Good question, but too late, I've done it now.

Stayed for a night and ate excellent dinner. Pub has a welcoming atmosphere and was busy , staff were efficient and very friendly. Room was comfortable and well equipped.

Midweek offers 2 nights DBB. We are not from the area but have stayed on 3 occasions. It's always a warm welcome from the owners & the staff. The food is outstanding served by the most professional staff you could ever have. The skills the chefs display in preparing consistent high-quality food while being able to experiment with the food on offer is first class & should be applauded. The second evening happened to be an event. Showcasing middle Eastern food from Chef Ayesha Kalaji with Master Chef credentials on an evening to remember & can't wait to go to her restaurant Queen Of Cups in Gladenberry. Some of her regular customers from Gladenberry had travelled to attend the evening. 5 course menu that only had high points making it difficult to choose a favourite. I am sure Marc will be encouraging Ayesha to return for another sell-out evening.

We stayed for one night DBB and it was excellent. The pub, food, rooms and service are all excellent. The meal was exceptional, and the breakfast in the morning was lovely.

A lovely meal with interesting menu choices and excellent friendly service. Particularly appreciated the choice of soft drinks including tomato juice and hot chocolate. Good set course lunch with good quality ingredients.

Stayed overnight for a wedding anniversary on a dinner & BnB offer for a couple. Fabulous evening meal, first rate food and service (drinks in the bar beforehand). Bedroom and bathroom very good, and great breakfast with enough choice....not that we needed a big breakfast after the meal the night before! Nice to stroll around the village in the morning before leaving. Excellent all-round.

I booked for 13 of us to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary. We pre-ordered, the meal was delicious and we received excellent service. I would thoroughly recommend The Dog for a special occasion.

Lovely place, super food, great room & super dog friendly. Great location for exploring Canterbury, Whitstable, Sandwich etc. cannot wait to go back. I booked in advance & paid the usual rate but there were last minute deals which I missed out on - would probably hang on & book last minute next time.

We always visit this restaurant for special occasions. The food is always of a high quality , and the staff very helpful and friendly. I recently discovered that I am dairy intolerant and they were able to accommodate my dietary requirements with no fuss. I would highly recommend this restaurant

Wow, The Dog is such an amazing place to eat and drink. I've eaten here twice this weekend and both the food, staff and ambience are 5 star. Short rib unbelievably sumptuous. Roast dinner so rich and flavoursome and I could hardly contain myself with pleasure after the biscoff cheesecake. Congratulations to the owners, chefs and all the staff that make The Dog so special.

Lovely service and nice environment that felt like a traditional pub. The food was amazing - lots of thought behind each beautifully presented course. We had the “paired” wines which complemented the food very well. The combination of flavours were amazing. Will definitely return.

Had the most incredible night at The Dog for the Celebration menu. Highlight was the scallop starter with coral and squid ink sponge. Wonderful atmosphere where the chefs were celebrated for their skill and craft and the service was second to none. So glad to have brought my family along as guests. Can’t wait for the next evening. Booked for Wednesday to come in with my husband. We've wanted to come for quite some time, and planned exactly what to order weeks in advance, only to find that it was the first night of the new menu! We were greeted and seated quickly and fortunately, we were put in a nice quiet area in the back. We needed quite a while to peruse through the menu - this is why we try to plan weeks ahead! - so both had the gin special as recommended by the gentleman serving us. Everything looked amazing on paper, so we asked our waiter to surprise us and surprised we were. We shared a burrata and mussels to start, which were both equally as beautiful. Our main dished, however blew us away. The chicken was cooked beautifully and all the side bits and pieces were so tasty. Our beef was phenomenal, basically melted in our mouths, heavenly is the only way I could describe it. We were stuffed so just shared one meringue pie between the two of us, a nice light treat to finish off our night. The atmosphere was great, food was incredible and service was 5 star! Luke was just perfect. We had may questions about the new menu, but he was really patient with us and so helpful and clearly loves what he does. Can't beat service with a smile! It also happened to be my birthday and was delighted when a drink had been given to us on the house! A lovely little touch. Cannot wait to return soon.

Having eaten in a couple of ‘high profile’ restaurants recently and been less than impressed … isn’t it reinvigorating to turn up at a gastro pub in Kent and be treated to outstanding food and lovely, engaging and attentive service at half the price. Had to wait over half an hour for our table, didn’t seem concerned about us waiting. Did apologise but said it would be soon. It was about 35 minutes. The people before were half an hour late we were told as we started to sit down to the table, so we had to wait for them to leave. When I mentioned that we had to wait I was told well you’re here now aren’t you!! By the time we sat down it was just after half past eight. Took another 15 minutes before any one came to order our food. A lot of faffing about and more interested that we ordered more drinks. We arrived early and in plenty of time. It had taken us about 50 minutes to get there so to have to wait 35 minutes was annoying. We were encouraged to have more drinks while we were waiting for our table in the bar. The price of the drinks is over the top we felt. £9 for a small glass of house red wine, £9 a pint and £9.50 for a gin & tonic. The food was very good. The funny crispy puff ball with the pork chop was irrelevant and no one ate it. Couldn’t see the point of it. The whisky caramel tart was caramely but couldn’t taste any sign of whisky. The people who had the panna cotta loved it said it was the best they had eaten. It was good food and we enjoyed what we had our company were great and that made the evening for us but very over priced drinks.
