Went for a last minute Sunday lunch for two, great staff, all very helpful and attentive, very good pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord. They managed to find us a table, the pub was pretty busy, a good mix of drinkers and eaters with a good pub noise to warm the atmosphere. Fish and chips were good, lovely light batter and great chips. I just felt the whole place could do with a tidy up and maybe a lick of fresh paint, a small point for an otherwise decent pub. Would definitely go back.

Visiting relatives who live in the local area and decided to have lunch at the Dog and Pheasant. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent, I had the Roast Chicken Supreme (with a beer to wash it down😁). The service (provided by Andy) was attentive but not overbearing, top marks! The pub is warm/cozy, dog friendly and clean. Set in the good location and plenty of onsite free parking. Would thoroughly recommend and will return to try out more of the menu. 10/10

A wonderful cosy pub to spend a perfect October evening. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the cauliflower salad (a pub that can do an exciting vegetarian option that’s cooked with care feels like a rare gem). You don't expect to turn up for lunch with a confirmed reservation at a fixed time - 13.30 on Tuesday 15th October - to find the pub is closed. This was our experience with the Dog and Pheasant. If it has closed down, it should take steps to deal with its website which informs us it is now open....Is it? Never mind, plenty of excellent choices down the road in Haslemere...

I turned up here today, on a motorbike club midweek turn up. We got a warm welcome. 16 of us turned up. (we never know how many of us will come). But the staff and kitchen coped excellently. The fish and chips where amazing the sandwiches were all of generous proportions, coming with either soup, salad or chips. Well done to all the staff at the Dog and Pheasant. Thank you. Nev. Dropped in to this lovely pub for lunch after a hike in the area today, and very glad we did! The staff and landlord were all extremely friendly and helpful. My wife and I had the Venison, bacon and mushroom pie from the 'specials' board and the Chicken Supreme with gnocchi in a tarragon and mushroom sauce. Both were delicious! My only disappointment was the fact that there was only one portion of the fantastic sticky toffee pudding left...which we obviously had! We loved that...but also enjoyed the fudge brownie. Thanks chef and the team. Although we live about 30 miles away, we're likely to be back! I imagine the barmaid will have perfected that shamrock on the Guinness by then too! ;-)

Roast dinner was good, I think for the price, the portion of pork was a little underwhelming. The spiced cabbage was delicious. I was a little disappointed by the welcome on arrival. I think your guests should be greatest when they enter, which we were not. I also think the inside and outside of the restaurant don't match. The inside was carefully curated and tables were set up with cutlery etc. and it was beautiful . However outside there was a selection of well worn and damaged picnic benches. Whilst the views are stunning customer comfort and experience hasn't been considered and I think there should be an investment in better outside furniture. There were some wooden tables and chairs near the patio area which were covered in red berries from the tree above and had not been wiped down and we're also reserved so we could not use them.

Sadly the D&P has become really run down. For a casual drink it does the job. But would not recommend for food. Although I’d been warned by others. I still wanted to give it a chance and revisit. Ordered the 3 meat option…. Where do I begin. Food arrived cold, cauliflower side was unpleasant, meat was tough and there was no gravy. The pub was not busy, only three tables occupied and 3 waiters. However still had to ask for gravy twice. This experience was a real shame. Hopefully some improvements will be made and restore my faith in this pub. But for now, it’s not worth visiting for food

The food was extremely disappointing. We booked for Father’s day and we wish we hadn’t. What this pub may have had in quantity on plates, it severely lacked in quality. The chicken was pink inside and the beef was salty. The roast potatoes were crispy on the outside but were so undercooked and raw inside. The cauliflower cheese was watery and the carrots were undercooked yet piping hot - they must have been microwaved. The Yorkshire puddings were also burnt. The pub then had the audacity to charge 10% service on top of our bill! We would have paid this, if the service was not so poor. We asked the staff to feedback to the chef that this meal was disappointing and they did not seem bothered. We then raised with the main lady working that we would be writing a negative review and she did not care. We also noted that the pub had a promotion on their website of a free ale for dad on Father’s day, but when we asked the staff they did not know about this! It was not busy, so the poor service was inexcusable and we will not return.

An impromptu dinner date with my wife. We called in to the Dog & Pheasant in the hope of grabbing a table for dinner at short notice. As we parked I saw the sign saying food service stopped at 8:30pm, it was 8:27 when we walked into the pub expecting to be going hungry or having a bag of crisps. The manager could not have been nicer, “no problem, of course you can have a table, here is this one ok, can I get you a drink?” Menus swiftly arrived, choices made and food ordered. I had the rump steak and my wife chose the fish and chips. Both delicious. Very reasonable price, professional polite service, very friendly, and very happy that not once where we called “guys” a pet hate of mine. 10/10 highly recommend this little gem.

Visited for Sunday lunch this weekend and wasn't that impressed with the food. We had the chicken roast with rather sad roasted potatoes and very lackluster veg that has seen better days. Service was also slightly lacking as well. Haven't been for a few years and possibly this lovely pub has struggled as so many others have with the fallout from COVID and the energy crisis etc. I hope this was a one off and that they can improve. Lovely atmosphere in a beautiful old county pub setting, friendly and welcoming. However, the steak was really disappointing, requested medium rare but it came out very rare and couldn't be cut with the steak knife, such a shame as the starter and the rest of the food was lovely. If the waitress had asked if the meal was ok then I'd have had chance to explain the problem and the situation could have been improved. I didn't really feel the staff had any interest in the quality of the food, so my recommendation for a country pub around this area would be to try the Duke of Cambridge in Tilford. My daughter had the burger and that was very good.

Atmosphere within the pub is lovely - traditional and cozy. Food was OK but not amazing, and perhaps slightly on the pricier side for what you get. Parking was a bit of a nightmare. My single biggest complaint was that 30 minutes into our 12:30 booking we were advised we would need to leave by 14:30 to accommodate another booking. Our intention was to settle in for a relaxed Sunday lunch, but clearly, this wasn't an option. Coupled with slightly slow service, I was not overly impressed. I expect visiting the pub at quieter times may result in a more pleasant experience.

Cosy, dog friendly country pub. A proper pub just as one should be. Waited at least 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken, when it did arrive they had doubled up. The pork roast was supposed to have crackling but they had run out. The storks of the steamed vegetables very underdone and tough. On a positive note the roast potatoes were wonderful as was the Yorkshire pudding. The Timothy Taylor Trophy bitter was well kept and very drinkable. Our visit was 2.00 on a Sunday and the pub was very busy. Possibly will return to give it a second chance.

My family of four and the dog recently dined at this restaurant for our Wedding Anniversary, and it was truly an amazing experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and cozy. We were seated promptly, and our server, Noah, was exceptional. Noah's attentiveness and knowledge of the menu were impressive. He guided us through the options and made some great recommendations. Two of us had the venison pie, which was packed with meat, the rich, savory filling was perfectly encased in flaky pastry, and the flavors were outstanding. It's a must-try dish! The service was not rushed, allowing us to savor every bite and enjoy our family time. The desserts were huge and beautifully presented. We left the restaurant with full stomachs and smiles on our faces. After a beautiful walk, our day was made memorable, thanks to the wonderful food and the impeccable service provided by Noah. ( speciality in southern Spain) The chips were cooked to perfection. The hake beer bartered fish was seasoned to perfection and batter perfectly cooked. Garlicy chunky real mushy peas. Home made tartare sauce was great to. Eaton mess was delish. Agree with other reviews. The portion sizes were just right. Quality not quantity. Compliments to the chef. We stopped by the Dog and Pheasant on our way back into London from Portsmouth. We took a very long, winding, narrow little country road to get there from the highway. The pub itself is great, plenty of seating inside and out with a large beer garden out back. Service was great, really friendly, helpful when we needed it. This is a really nice pub. Had lunch with a friend today. The food was great, served promptly, and the service was polite. There was a good selection on the menu too. Not a lot else to say really apart from it’s well worth a visit.

Excellent cosy place to dine. Food is excellent and good value for money Almost all of the customers are locals and everyone are friendly including the staff. Clean and warm welcoming environment.

My partner wanted to treat us to meal out…Honestly it was terrible. The waiter, took our order not writing anything down. My sons order came incomplete missing an extra we had asked for. The waiter came to apologise and make right, however managed to forget it a second time…. Utterly incredible! We ordered two pies my partner ordered a meat free option and was served a chicken pie NOT WHAT she ordered. Food was 100% not home cooked very much packaged food! Such a disappointment. We were given the two meals for free which was a kind gesture and we are grateful. The prices of food here are high so we were expecting good things. It feels almost impossible to have quality and value in theses current times! Business should be doing their very best to ensure the return of local customers! A prime example of this not being done…. My view is avoid unless you fancy a pint only!!!

Came here after we accidentally booked the three horseshoes in letchworth garden city (rather than down the road). They were super friendly, squeezed us in and had amazing pies! Yum

Excellent landlord,of the good old fashioned kind. A rarity today. We just turned up without a booking, and was offered the best table in the house (next to the fire),by the landlord,as we were lucky ,and someone who had booked hadn’t turned up. We had a lovely sandwich, smoked ,which it is so nice to be able to get, when you know you are having a meal that evening, and just want a light lunch.(That is all the more,if I am meeting a girlfriend )We also had a bottle of wine. The pub soon completely filled up,and it felt very convivial and warm.A real gem ,where the landlord deserves a pat on the back

Fantastic roast dinner, staff were so friendly and accommodating to our children. The dessert was amazing, nice selection of ice creams and the waffle was beautiful.

Friendly staff, great food … just ask not to be seated by kitchen. The kitchen staff had the music on so loud and the pub staff were in and out all the time delivering food so we were blasted with tunes the whole time and couldn’t hear ourselves chat. Ruined the experience for us.

Lovely pub, a little gem. Located in the middle of a busy roundabout. All staff very friendly and welcoming, great food and choices. Prices are excellent, very reasonable. Here to celebrate mum’s 70th Birthday and the team were very helpful and welcoming and great communication via email. I would highly recommend this pub to everyone as it certainly met all expectations and more.

Garth and his staff deserve compliments, not complaints. Eventhough they were short staffed, they remained welcoming, extremely friendly and were doing their best to maintain high standards in a busy restaurant. Food is good value, seating area and atmosphere is much better than other local garden centres. Only downside today it was cold in the restaurant.

5 out of 5! First visit, lively and friendly. Fantastic, tasty, hot fresh food. Starters, calamari, and chicken wings were delicious. Mains, kofte kebab, and pork kebab are also excellent. Buffalo fries were stunning. The two veggies with us had superfood salad and a sweet potato dish, which I was assured were really good!!! Good choice of beer and wine and delightful staff!! Cost us about £72 per couple, including drinks and gratuity, which I considered very acceptable for the evening we had! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We will definitely be going back! 👍🏽
