We had dinner here. The menu is a bit unusual, with not too many homely choices, but we both had shoulder of lamb, which turned out to be a stew. Very pleasant and nicely presented it was too. Staff were (I think) somewhat inexperienced but very keen to do the right thing and there were no mistakes. It must be said that the dining room is rather cramped and the walls are painted dark red, which makes the whole room rather claustrophobic. We took coffee after the meal in the sitting room adjacent. A little biscotti or even a petit four with the coffee would have been a nice touch but was not offered. We enjoyed the visit. £100 two courses for two people, plus bottle of wine and two coffees. That includes a 10% service charge added to the bill. Don'tthey know it's 2023? Just increase the prices by 10% and omit the service charge -- it just rubs people up the wrong way. (Some people will then add their voluntary tip on top anyway.)

Booked a table for two ,for an anniversary dinner with my wife ,,,four days in advance, We arrived about twenty minutes before the the booking time, to have a drink before dinner. I knocked on the door and walked around both sides of the hotel and could not find anyone to let us in . We waited a few more minutes in the car and tried again without success. We had to book another restaurant at short notice. Very annoyed as this was a special occasion and after two text messages from this hotel to confirm the booking they still did not provide the service that evening. After an hour we received a phone call to enquire if we were still coming to which I replied ,,NO. I would not recommend this hotel/restaurant as it spoiled our evening. Very Disappointed

Beautiful hotel with beautiful gardens. We visited for lunch and sat in the side beer garden. Staff were friendly and attentive. We ate prawns and crab cakes and both were delicious. Very classy with a wide range of spirits, beers and wines. Would definitely revisit

Attended for our Valentine's meal. Great airy setting and not crammed with tables. Food was spot on, decent sized portions that left us satisfied without feeling uncomfortable and just enough pretentiousness to make it feel special. The staff were a true asset. Welcoming and friendly, very helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Good value for money, towards the top end of mid-range, but not quite fine dining. We'll definitely return some time. If I was to be ultra critical, the lighting wasn't great in the function room where we had our meal, it was a little on the dark side and there was a slightly annoying automatic dimming setting where the intensity of the light was constantly varying. The wife would of liked a couple more petit toasts for her pate, there were only 3 and a lot of pate... and some extra veggies with our main would of been nice, we had the duck and even putting 3 steamed baby carrots with stalks on would of totally changed it, just the cabbage and potatoes wasn't quite enough... Also, the decor was a little bland, it was nice, don't get me wrong, but I'm sure a little extra could of been done with it being Valentines Day to make it special without it being tacky (a rose or 2, and some hearts, a bit of red wouldn't of gone amiss etc) as it could of been any other day. That being said, I am being overly critical and picky :) We would like to thank all the staff for such a lovely evening and look forward to visiting again, maybe next time we'll stay the night.

An intimate setting for a family meal out for my birthday. It’s only a small dining room but fitted 6 just fine along with other diners. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and with a set priced menu was value for money, you can choose whether you have one, two or three courses. Would definitely book again.

Wonderful meal & fantastic service as usual. Only disappointment was that my favourite Camembert starter was not on the menu for the first time (please bring it back) so had to try the Smoked mackeral pate instead which was very yummy though so that was good. Had the shoulder of lamb for main which was heavenly. Highly recommend this place and look forward to going back later in the year.

Having looked for a venue for 6 of us to meet and have a nice evening meal we looked at Powdermills which is good food but dated decor but that was fully booked and we came across the Claverton. With the high reviews i suppose we had high expectations and with a weekend menu of £35 plus £5 for a steak there looked to be a few good choices for someone who doesn't eat fish. On arrival we were met by a pleasant young lady who took us to the lounge to read the menus and sorted out a pre-dinner drink. Lounge felt a bit average and not a warm welcoming fire or comfy seating, felt a little like a waiting room with upright seating and typical corporate brochure tables, no real ambience or character. It came to ordering and sadly they had run out of the Camembert and only had one portion of turkey left when three diners wanted it, running out of choices i could actually eat or want to eat i had to go for the steak ( yes, sadly a fussy eater) Porkbelly starter, one of the cheapest cuts of pork ever but with the tiny portions they must have been very special pigs! Marsh Steak was good but again not a big portion for the supplement of £5 Pudding was good although a substitute as the apple and rhubard crumble had run out! However sadly the dining room was a little cramped and simply just lacked any atmosphere as did the bar and the hotel, it was like a morgue, no ambient background music no real Christmas cheer, all in all a bit of an odd experience. Although a very young workforce is acceptable there wasn't even a hint of anyone over 20 on the premises in charge or appeared at any time. Same experience you often have in budget venues! Finally we had to get a member of staff who was washing up to retrieve coats for her to reach in with wet soapy hands to pick up an expensive winter coat! Not really what i hoped for....................Not sure i would recommend.

The nicest surprise was to be offered a local English wine from a vineyard which is just around the corner. It was called 1066 and was a white wine that went perfectly with our fish

The hotel is set in beautiful countryside and hotel has a lovely cosy but luxurious feel to it. Lorraine and all her staff could not be more helpful, the rooms are clean and immaculate. The menu is varied we ate there on successive nights and the food is of michelin star standard. Also the prices are extremely reasonable for such quality. We cannot wait to return.

I have included a review in my Claverton Hotel but for a romantic meal of real quality that is not overpriced while having had great attention to detail paid to the surroundings, menu, wine list and quality of the food, style and quality of presentation I can't really fault it. My only worry is that I hope that we can book in again without the restaurant being booked to capacity as we had such a lovely meal in a lovely romantic atmosphere.

Had a meal a few weeks ago, with family to selebate my sons 18th. Was impressed with the reviews, and short of decent restaurants in this part of the world thought we would try here. The food was nice but certenly not Michelen standard. Each main course for instance came plated with the same side vegetables and potato. Nice young lad served us throughout. Friendly but not well trained. Never met the owners!Nice but not realy nice if you know what I mean.

I contacted Claverton House with a view to hold an intimate celebration for my parents 25th wedding anniversary and I wasn't disappointed. From contacting the venue to actually holding the celebration Kerry and Lorraine couldn't do enough to help me make this special. We held a small renewal of vows ceremony followed by a drinks reception and then the 6 course celebration meal. They were very accommodating of our needs and even adjusted the menu to suit the younger diners.Everyone that came along to the celebration was amazed by the venue and all commented on how lovely the food was. We had a variety of food and each member made their choice from 3 starters, mains and desserts. The service was really good and well thought out.I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a celebration and cannot wait to go back for a meal and an overnight stay:)

Very disappointed after reading other reviews, expected something special but did not live up to previous reviews. Not very friendly and food (had the duck ) was over salted and quite unpleasant so did not bother with dessert, also it was very overpriced for the standard of food. I never like to write a poor review(and never have) but on this occasion I felt that I should.

I consider myself really lucky to have found the Dining Room at the Claverton. My intention was to find a quiet family run hotel where I could relax after a few hectic weeks. The hotel was great but to find a superb restaurant with exquisite food cooked really well from an interesting menu was a real treat. It is obvious that there was real passion behind the scenes and I can't wait to get back and try something else from the menu.

A real gem from start to finish. We stayed for two nights, and that was a quality /value experience in itself. As regards dining that was a peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable experience.Start with a pre-prandial in the lounge or, weather permitting, in the garden. Have a chat with the Koi carp!Followed by an invitation to a cody, but not small candlelit dining room.An excellent and varied menu, with our selections prepared and presented to perfection. We shall be back again and have already recommended Claverton to our friends.

Tjis was the second time we had visited The Dining Room at Claverton Country House, and for a second time we were certainly not disappointed. The ambience was relaxed and friendly, and the food was superb. My father, who is notoriously hard to please, declared the fillet steak was 'the best in living memory' and that is high praise indeed. I must say I agree and we can't wait to visit again!

A delightful small and cozy restaurant in a wonderful country surrounding. Pre-meal drinks are provided in a comfortable, plushly-furnished lounge while browsing the wide-ranging menu and listening to relaxing music. You are then escorted into the intimate dining room, candle-lit with view of the well manicured garden, complete with Koi pond and decking. The food was excellently prepared and presented and left our party fully replete after 3 courses and freshly-baked bread before enjoying coffee in the excellent gardens. Fully recommended for a relaxing meal in comfortable and tastefully intimate surroundings. I will be back!

I often stay at the hotel and one of the reasons is the excellent restaurant and food. The food is superbly prepared and presented and served in delightfully peaceful surroundings. The menu is varied and will suit all tastes and appetites. The service is impeccable yet extremely friendly and you gain the feeling that your enjoyment of the whole experience (ambiance, service, quality, etc.) is paramount. The advantage of staying at the hotel is that one can also enjoy the delights of a superb breakfast cooked to order in the same retsaurant.

This is a very small restaurant within a lovely old country manor house located in extensive grounds outside Hastings which also takes a small number of guests. Maximum is about 15 diners in a comfortable candlelit room with views of the grounds.Menu is not large but there is something for all tastes from a perfect fillet steak to some more adventurous offerings, and the quality of the food is superb as is the very personal service provided by the owners. There is also a good wine list with something to suit everyone.Although not the cheapest place around here (or the most expensive!) the quality of food, service, and surroundings make this good value for money - if you want somewhere to dine in comfort in a quality setting where you can relax and will not be hurried this is hard to beat.I have now been here 4-5 times and the quality never varies! You will need to book though .....

My partner took me to The Dining Room for my birthday, and it was a wonderful surprise. The location is truly beautiful, and although it is set back from the main road, it was easy to locate. The gentleman who waited on us provided excellent service and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent. I had the pan fried fillet of beef which was cooked to perfection. My partner had the shoulder of lamb; he also highly recommends this. The nice end to the evening was being able to finish our wine / coffee in the lounge area, which was relaxing and comfortable, but also getting a small box of homemade chocolates (which were divine!) All in all I would highly recommend The Dining Room, mainly to those wanting a quiet and maybe even romantic evening with amazing food!

Another great meal at this warm, cosy and inviting pub. We sat next to the wood burner which was nice and toasty. One of us had the Belly of Pork, my mouth is watering at the thought of it! One of us had the special which was bacon and onion suet pudding……You get a generous bowl of veg each and one of us had new potatoes and one had chips. Dessert was clotted cream rice pudding……Heaven! We are lucky that this is our local pub and it couldn’t be better! Cheers!

Go through the dowdy antique shop frontage into the tiny, almost cramped room behind and prepare for a treat. We three all picked the all day breakfast; proper bacon, real butcher's sausages and all the trimmings. At around £6, with coffee refills, we couldn't have been happier!

Now called Chapter Two, not Two Trees. We enjoyed a lovely no thrills breakfast here which is exactly what we needed. The owners had signage up stating that they were away and the lady who appeared in charge in their absence was doing a great job. Made us very welcome and provided great service with a smile.
