Unfortunately, the worst meal I've ever had at a Weatherspoons. Gourmet steak for me and char grilled chicken for my wife. Both sent back as being tough and uneatable. I suspect these had been pre-cooked and warmed up. The replacements were marginally better but not much. Very dissapointed.

We have had breakfast and lunch in here a few time and it has always been adequate. Today we went for 3 of the small plates offer 2 pizzas and a portion of loaded chips. The pizzas were not very good. The mushroom on one of them was completely cold and raw and most of the cheese wasn’t even melted. The same goes for the loaded chips. It’s a shame as it has put us for going there again.

Absolutely terrible. Management awful. Ordered beans on toast for my daughter and myself at £3.99 each. Had to ask for some more beans which came in a small pot for us both, whilst waitin the others went cold! Picture shows with extra beans! When I spoke to the manager she was very dismissive and said that’s our portions. Wrote to head office who were equally unhelpful and said they would speak to staff. I have been to a lot of their establishments and this is by far the worst one. I would avoid and go to one of the nice cafes in the area.

Been here a few times and it’s a typical spoons, a mix of clientele. The one thing I felt let’s this down is the cleanliness. When we arrived to sit outside there were full ashtrays, empty glasses on tables, just didn’t look good. I wonder if it’s lack of staff as they all seemed rushed off their feet.

Five of us went for evening diner - found seating - ordered our food. Two had curry & rice etc -one had lasagne and two of us had sirloin steak - medium rare with salad. For drinks 2 pints of beer - one still orange - one medium rose wine & one slimline tonic. The drinks were not bad although we had to return the orange as it had little taste & they doubled the amount of cordial. However the food was served on stone cold plates and so was quickly cooled. The two steaks were nearer rare than medium/ rare and had so much gristle in them that most was uneatable and so was left. Now what is more annoying is that not one member of staff came to see if we were happy with our experience etc. which we were not - we should have gone to the bar & asked for a refund for the two steaks but didn’t want to embarrass the 80 year old lady who’s treat it was. The occasion was spoiled and so we will not be returning to Wetherspoons.

Went here on 25th March 2024 at 17.15 for evening meal just after work. We have done a Monday evening quite regularly, but are always disappointed. The food is normally cold. We thought well it cannot get any worse, well it just has. We ordered two 10oz Gammon Steaks. The eggs were inedible. The whites were raw. We ate part of the meal, we didn't send the meal back for fear of the replaced meal being (contaminated). We won't be eating at Wetherspoons Skipton for the foreseeable future.

This is a HUGE pub and it is located along a road running off the main street. I ordered a traditional breakfast with accompanying coffee. The meal was quickly served and tasted fine. If some of the internal walls could be removed (difficult, I know) this would really open up the pub and improve the views inside. A pleasant experience in a tidy and clean pub.

I had the tuna mayo jacket with salad and my husband had the fish and chips, I must say his fish looked good, very white and fresh. We enjoyed what we had and it was a good portion with the added free drink. I can't understand why the coffees vary in price at the Wetherspoons, here it was £1-56p and in Lancaster it was £1-04p. We went for a lunchtime drink, they had a good selection of drinks and we enjoyed the ones we ordered. Having seen some of the food they were serving, we decided to go back later to dine. The food we were served could have been much better. When the food arrived at our table it wasn’t hot and the egg on my mixed grill had what can only be described as a skin. The reason for the food not being hot could partly be my fault as I originally gave the wrong table number. When I realised, I did go back and correct it and a minute later our food arrived. If the food had been stood due to the table mix up I caused, surely they should have realised and re-heated the food before serving it. We were asked if our food was alright and I did explain it was cool at best etc. We were offered a replacement egg but I declined as we were in a rush. To be honest, we should have known better, as food in Weatherspoon’s as deteriorated of late. Family and friends that have eaten at different Weatherspoon’s have all noticed the same. We assume that they are trying to keep within a price point or increase profits or both.

After a particularly fantastic weekend glamping in a local village, I decided to give this establishment my patronage for a quick refreshment before my journey home. I sat peacefully and scrolled through the spoons magazine trying to pick out the pubs I have visited in the past (as I am not a Wetherspoon novice!) All of a sudden my life was turned upside down. The coffee machine queue grew with people wanting to take the establishments fantastic value offer up on their cuppas. A lady charged from the kitchen so angrily shouting at the other patrons for not queuing correctly that I could even feel the yolks of the fried eggs on the plates she carried burning a hole into my soul. Now, I understand she may have been very busy but being a sensible human who doesn’t drink non alcoholic beverages in a pub I didn’t feel I deserved such condemnation, especially from the produce. I could do nothing other than down my pint and run for my life. I highly praise all the other staff but I would recommend the angry kitchen lady applies for a place on the tv show gladiators? Is that still a thing, because apparently manners aren’t!?

Have been here before the China Crisis and during it when they had labels that you put on the cards when you were ready to order, with GREEEN being for ready! Earlier this year; it did not work well then and we had to stop/ask for attention. Some people just ignored the system. If you sat nearer the bar you had more chance!Yesterday, it was worse. One has to use the app to gain attention. Have a look at the SUN newspaper today, where it was similar in Cardiff, just for beer. Food normally takes precedence in W/spoons! Eventually, after a few minutes we obtained the attention of a person, who went through the app...... exercise. At well over 70 one does not do apps, Ah, well, we will deal with you in due course. Twenty minutes later we left and went to a local hostelry where we stated that we did no do apps. No probs and we ate well. So, the lesson is, at least in Skipton, look for a smaller place with service.

Sign in rules, with covid! There is a system with a card which has green and red sides; good idea green for service and red for OK. Well OK but not used by all! Larger sign needed to emphasise? And, in the areas away from the bar the "green" is not always noticed, seemingly. So, one waits, separated from fellow diners by screens, which some novice diners seem to enjoy banging. Well two mature women did! However, when one has ordered service is fairly quick, with drinks delivered by one person and food by another. The menu is replete with such as: sausage & mash, paninis, fish and chips, and my son's favourite, Wiltshire Ham with chips etc. There was some confusion about how many drinks allowed. One guy, on the first of two visits in two consecutive days, checked with his boss, and informed us we could drink whilst food was on table, and have two more after plates collected. On the second day there seemed to be another protocol! Not a problem, after all our leaders "daarn sawth" are equally up the creek with scothc eggs in their tiny mits! The staff were, in spite of this, helpful and one could have a laugh, which is a blessing in these days blighted by early Xmas "presents" from our brethren in the East. I/we hope that on our next trip to Skipdale, as some of us name it, will be without the constraints of Covid.

On my request for the table to be sanitised so we could be sat there, the waitress decided to tell me i was no longer welcome in the premises and told me to leave, instead of sanitising the table as expected. This was not only a terrible piece of customer service but also a huge breach of the coronavirus guidelines given to the hospitality sector. Weather Spoons Really DisappointedIn a company that I thought was showing the rest of the pubs in the UK how to give value for money, which they do but when it comes to theDevonshire Pub22 Newmarket StreetSkiptonNorth YorkshireBD23 2HRBe prepared to get value for money with appalling customer care.I dropped in for a meal with my family of five as we have done in a few Weather Spoon pubs around the country and always find it value for money and good food for the price. I fully understand that you pay for what you get and do not not expect restaurant quality food but as pub food goes its ok for the price. What I do not expect is bad attitude from staff and Chris the Manager who I called the next day to explain the situation that had occurred the previous day. He did not give an apology and did not care at all regarding my complaint which was as simple me asking for a replacement drink because the 1st glass was full of ice and only had an egg cup full of coke in it, I think its bonkers they were not prepared to change it?Come on Weather Spoons dont take the p....ss we no your cheap but surely you can afford to replace a glass of coke!

Staff were very rude - tried to remove customers half an hour before advertised closing time. Bald discount moby member of staff threw my drink on the ground to force myself and my friends to leave. I will not return to this Witherspoon's or any soon as I have been turned off to the company from this interaction.

Grand building for this Wetherspoons. Used the app for the first time so didn’t really come across many staff apart from the one who served the food. We both had burgers which are substantial and good value for money - especially with alcoholic drink option price!

We were greeted warmly by Laura at the bar and during our 2-hour stay we were able to thank Chris the manager and Chris L, both of whom enhanced our whole experience with their politeness and courtesy. We shared the chicken bite starter - perfect - then my wife had the beef lasagne and I chose the BBQ chicken melt - both delicious. The Hardy's wine was excellent and amazing value at £10.49 a bottle, and we even got a free glass of wine with our selected meals. Whenever we visit Skipton we now make the Devonshire our first port of call. Thanks!

Called for lunch and was pleasantly surprised as never been here before. Very imposing well kept building. Lovely seating area out front well maintained (bet it's lovely in the summer). Inside well kept and overall very clean. Knocked a mark off as there was a bit of rubbish on the floor which during our time on there wasn't dealt with.

Living on the coast a bit of a fish and chip expert. This deal on Friday of Large Cod, chips and peas with a drink was excellent value and cooked perfectly. The batter was some of the best and at a guess made with a good beer. Must say surprised an inland Yorkshire Dales Wetherspoons could produce near perfect fish and chips that many more expensive restaurants could do to sample and see how it is done. Great value and great service.

As I had wandered around Skipton and struggled to find a place offering something I fancied for lunch, I chose a tried and tested favourite. The place was busy, but service was still good! I chose the Wiltshire Ham with eggs and chips. The food came very quickly. Soon polished it off! As the title says, ' Simple and Tasty'. Only thing that spoilt it is the price of soft Drinks.

We’d already visited this old coaching inn a year ago while in the area and was most impressed, so we returned at the weekend on a Sunday lunchtime. We managed to get a table and then decided to stay for lunch rather than just a drink. We decided to try a pizza – one a pepperoni, the other a ham and mushroom. They both arrived nice and hot within about 10 minutes. One was slightly oval (no criticism) so we knew they were made on the premises and not brought in. The toppings were sufficient and tasty and not skimped upon because of the low price.

It's understandable that some pubs don't allow dogs inside, but it's rare that they're not even allowed to sit quietly under a table outside. My husband and I were visiting Skipton - a tourist orientated rural market town - and called at The Devonshire Inn with our 4 month old puppy. It was a quiet Friday afternoon so we expected there would no problem if we sat for a drink at one of the tables on the front yard. We were wrong, and were asked to leave because no dogs are allowed in the "Beer Garden".

My husband and I visited the Devonshire on a recent holiday to Yorkshire, the atmosphere, service, bar staff, situation etc was SO good we came here three nights in a row. Whatever Tim Martin is doing, so far as training is concerned, he should duplicate this across so many other services! Staff are prompt, friendly, helpful, food is brought out less than 20 mins of ordering, is of a great standard, portion sizes are perfect - menu is varied, costs are incredibly good value - why would you go anywhere else?!

Called in on Sunday night due to us staying in the area. Food and drink reasonably priced and nice, as per standard Wetherspoons fayre, however the young female staff member who was serving behind the bar for whatever reason didn't seem to want to be there. Please or thank you wouldn't have gone amiss. The wifi didn't work either, but that was in the process of being looked at. Not a bad pub though.

Very happy! I did the app ordering. Drinks arrive under 5mins, and we had 3 different pizzas and a mixed grill. We lived in Italy for 3yrs and loved the rustic thin based pizza there. My son doesn’t like the English pizzas normally but loves these! Food arrive shortly after the drinks. Good job Wetherspoons.

Had a great meal here last night with my wife. I must admit I was a bit dubious about going to a weatherspoons to eat on a Saturday night but couldn’t have been more wrong. Fantastic service from the table (blew my mind this) very quick for the food and drinks to come and the table was very efficiently cleared once we’d finished , polite and friendly staff and a definite bar and eating area which was nice , food was obviously a pub style menu but everything we had was faultless. Certainly be returning again.

Waited over 15 minutes to get served a drink. One uninterested barman for over 70 people. Had pre-ordered our food . It was given to someone else. The management refused to replace it as the kitchen was about to shut. Very arrogant attitude. On the plus side, a good pint of beer. Ate next door at the very friendly Lister Arms.

We came here not knowing any review or the place itself. We came on a Thursday evening about 6pm, were greeted politely and shown to a table. The server provided us with menus and came back five minutes later to take our order. Prices are reasonable, portions are a good size and the service and food were excellent. I don't always believe the odd negative review of Fish n Chip Restaurants as not all positive reviews are recorded, just the negative ones. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area again.

I have been twice in the last 6 weeks, both on a Sunday for a roast, which I assume is their busiest day. Although the staff were great and very apologetic for the long 45min/1hr wait on both occasions, the food quality wasn’t great. It states on the menu it comes with veg, I had one green bean and one tiny boiled carrot on one occasion, and all the plates it just seemed very lacking for the price we were paying. On the other occasion we had the Barnsley chop, and it was so tough our arms were sore from trying to cut it. It’s a great pub, and a place I love to bring visitors and previous years it has been better, so I hope it can improve.
