The Deer's Hut in East Hampshire

Booked a table for 12 for my dads birthday. They really spent time decorating the table and making it special. The staff were so friendly and lovely interacting with our two five year olds, thanks guys, you made their day making them feel important. Food was fabulous, loved my roast, and the girls really loved their fish & chips (crispy batter melt in the mouth fish).

Very refreshing to find a great pub taking food seriously. Perfect trout gravadlax followed by pork belly with dauphenoise cooked exactly as it should be. Excellent service and an outstanding wine list. Our first visit but we will return. Highly recommended.

We were staying for the evening at the Old Thorns Resort (a 8 minute walk away) and due to lack of availability at their main restaurant & the noisy (bordering tumultuous) vibe at their Sports bar, my partner and I decided to dine elsewhere yesterday evening. A quick check on TA directed me to the Deers Hut. On arrival, we found the Inn/pub to be quiet, relaxing and intimately, dimly lit. Whilst they were probably around 85% full, they accommodated us very quickly. We enjoyed the baked Camembert sharer which was delicious & then mains of Pheasant Schnizel & Hampshire Ham & eggs; both very large servings which neither of us finished. Ultimately, whilst we enjoyed the food and wine; it was the atmosphere and surroundings I was more invested in & I found the Deers Hut ideal for a local intimate dinner. Would definitely recommend it, if you are staying at The Old Thorns resort and want something quieter, generally nicer and away from the crowd!

I can't rate this place highly enough. I would like to thank the staff and management for a wonderful visit. We were seated in the room with the fireplace. I cannot tell you how much the nine of us enjoyed our afternoon in The Deers Hut. We were there to celebrate my 60th birthday. The staff were exceptional, nothing was too much bother, they continually checked to see if we needed more drinks. They were helpful and happy at all times, even though we could see they were having a very busy afternoon. The food was absolutely fantastic, all nine of us didn't have a bad word to say about anything. The specials were really special, our vegetarian guests were delighted with what was on offer to them, even a veggie option on the specials board. For our non meat eaters, the fish dishes, especially the mackerel were delicious. The mains and puddings gave us all a wonderful choice. This was seriously good food. And finally the drinks. The drink flowed. We had lots of cocktails, and they were some of the best we have ever had the delight to drink. The expresso and pornstar martinis were sublime. The wine was great and we had a wide choice of gins and beers. All eight of my guests said they thought it was one of the best meals they had ever had. I can't thank the manager and staff enough for giving me such a wonderful, fun and indulgent afternoon celebrating my 60th birthday in just the way I hoped it would be. We are out of your area, but I know you will be getting some return business from my guests and myself this year. Many, many thanks.

Our Sunday roast was excellent in terms of quality and flavour. The service was equally good, attentive and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely dinner here on a Saturday night. We shared the pork salad starter, both thoroughly enjoyed our main courses of fish & chips and a special venison dish, finished off with a cheese board. All the food felt fresh and local. Only small issue was the service we experienced towards the end of our night. A birthday party and a hen do came in for their bookings which meant all the staff seemed to be on the other side of the pub to where we were sat. We waited a long time for our empty plates to be taken.

I visited for dinner with my partner and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and was lovely and cosy with the fires burning. We had the burger two for one offer, sharing the chicken and halloumi burgers. Both were delicious and we were stuffed afterwards. The staff were friendly and polite and very professional despite the pub being busy. They were attentive without making us feel rushed. A very enjoyable evening and we will be back. I've already suggested a Sunday roast there to a group of friends.

Well, it looks nice: characterful, nice ambience, cosy(ish). Nice looking menu with specials. So far so good. However this attractiveness didn't extend to the food. Now this is all very subjective but the starters (3) were OK in the main but my terrine was coarse and lacked flavour. Couldn't detect the black pudding that was supposedly part of it. Mains not much better. Wife's chicken burger was fine but the venison shank was odd. Plenty of meat but the brocolli was underdone and the inclusion of a cassoulet was a mistake: it could have done with some dauphinois potatoes or even a mash. Puddings a profound disappointment. My mille feuile was unlike any I'df ever tasted: stodgy and not layered at all. The cherry compote was tasteless (how do you do that?) and the brandy cream was devoid of any brandy. The other desserts taken were also poor. Service was fine: attentive and prompt but somewhat disorganized. Discretionary service charge hidden on the menu. Overall quite sad really. In a world of choice this one didn't offer enough to merit a return visit.

Popped in for a pint and bite to eat before checking into nearby hotel and even though they were extremely busy and fully booked were more than happy to accommodate us very friendly, helpful and tasty food, we will be back if go back to hotel

Excellent food with great service, not the cheapest and very busy on a Friday lunch time. On the whole I would say a venue to visit again. I had the fish and chips which was good quality and very well cooked, portion size good.

We had great service and great food (& drinks) which were welcome and a lovely pub to find at end of lane of old thorn hotel where we were staying. Menu really varied and kids menu was good too.

A real gem of an establishment. A cross between ye olde English pub and fine dining. Well kept beer, beautifully presented food which tasted great, served by please and polite staff. Shame I don’t live closer

I just happened to see this on Tripadvisor and the reviews were positive enough for a visit. It was a lovely place with really cozy furniture and a friendly atmosphere. I had the pie - chicken, ham hock and leek and it was the best pie I have tasted for ages. Exactly the right amount of filling to pastry and good quality filling too. My husband had the duck and he said that was great. We had good service and we were very well looked after. It is a bit more expensive than other pubs, but it was definitely well worth it and it is a proper Gastro Pub. I really recommend it.

We have been visiting here for the last 8 years. We love it. A lovely old pub with friendly efficient staff and great good. We come often as a couple and also throughout the year with the whole family - 6 of us,for birthdays.

Have been may times before, but most recently for a birthday Sunday lunch for over 20 family and friends. As always, food was great and service was very efficient and friendly. My thanks to Jason and the team for ensuring we had a very enjoyable afternoon.

I would just like to say what a delightful afternoon we had at a wedding reception held in your delightful garden area. I had not been to the Deer's Hut for many years as now living in Cornwall - what a transformation everything was very tasteful and much thought had been given to every detail. The food was great and staff very helpful and nothing to much trouble. A day the bride and groom will certainly remember for a very long time. Thank you Lydia

On recommendation we visited this gorgeous and authentic English pub. As soon as we arrived we knew we'd found what we were looking for.Inviting decor, welcoming staff and an interesting menu that steers clear of the usual fried fare.We had the British charcuterie plate as well as the cheese board, both brilliant, washed down with a traditional ale. Well worth the 45 minute drive from London.

Wonderful pub, perfectly setup with lovely garden for a party. Everything you need catered for and the most fantastic management team and staff who took care of all the details. Food was fabulous and the garden was setup beautifully - could not have asked for more. Had the most amazing meal here whilst meeting up with friends from Singapore. Our mess and la were outstanding and personally I would recommend the scallops followed by pork belly and then rhubarb dessert. Totally amazing and what a refreshing menu- imaginative and beautiful in presentation and more importantly taste. Our waiter and waitresses were attentive and timely with taking orders and pacing courses despite it being quite busy. Hardly surprising this place is buzzing. It’s great!! Thank you so much.

We ate at The Deers Hut on the first night of our recent holiday in the area and it was so good we booked to return later in the week. The food is fantastic, with a mixture of favourites such as burgers and fish and chips and more (for me anyway) interesting choices. The pheasant starter was amazing and I had the best hake I've had for a long time. The cheese board is also well worth having. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed both our evenings. I'd highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

My wedding day meal Booked a table for 11, 5 adults 6 children. Wow what can I say we arrived to a beautiful decorated table ( totally unexpected )the table was in it’s own snug area, my friend had dropped a cake off, this was placed on a side table. Four of us ordered the steaks, we can honestly say this was cooked perfectly, it was delicious, one of the best steaks we have had. We dined with some friends who hadn't visited Deers Hut for 35 years! They absolutely loved to see how the pub has changed and thought it looked great. We all had a roast and enjoyed it very much. The pub was so busy and all the staff still had time for everyone and were very attentive. The added touch of the gift wrapped plant for the ladies was so kind and appreciated. Well done to Debbie and Jason, we are so lucky to have such a great pub as our local. Always enjoy our visits.

If you are thinking of taking on a pub, or any business at all, you need to come here. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere hit us and reminded us of what going to a bustly, friendly pub used to be like. Moving to dining area and it was still busy, but not so noisy that we couldn’t talk comfortably. The food was simply incredible. But most striking was the efficiency and cohesion of the staff. They worked together seamlessly with several different staff bringing us drinks and different courses and each one with a smile and such a welcoming attitude. Such a pleasure to be there and a shame that we aren’t locals. Well done everyone and thank you.

We were staying at the hotel up the road but when I called to reserve a table, they were fully booked. Thank goodness!!!!!!!I booked this pub as it was within walking distance and we had the most lovely evening. It was warm, clean, attractively decorated, the staff were very attentive, and even though we had a little miscommunication about my booking (2 of us with the same name booked for 2, half an hour apart !) we couldn’t have been more welcomed and treated more respectfully. On top of this, the food is to die for. Absolutely delicious. We ate scallops to start which melted in our mouths, then my husband had fish and chips and I had the venison special. Both mouth watering my delicious! We also both had the liquorice panacotta which we both loved. Even the drinks were great. Best meal we’ve had in a very long time. A real gem.

On a family memory trip from Nottinghamshire, ( was born in liphook) called at the Deers Hut when we arrived on the 19/3/2022, visited again today 24/3/2022 for lunch, what a wonderful welcome we received, food superb once again, service was 5* as well, Debbie told us she was from Mansfield ( our neck of the woods,) the whole experience was banging, Thankyou Debbie and your team, pity we can’t visit again, would highly recommend this public house

Visited with my husband for dinner. It is a nice, cosy pub, loved the decor. Both service and the food was great. We shared Camembert for starter and it was delicious, great selection of freshly baked breads. Main was very good too, good size portions. If I was in the area again, I would definitely visit.

This is a well located pub, for both the A3, Liphook and walks in the the surrounding area. The food and drink was good, if a little expensive, and the inability to book a table online is a little frustrating, as you need to call the pub. Overall a good experience.

Excellent pub, great atmosphere with welcoming cosy real fire wood smoke. Reception and service also warm. The Sunday roast pork plate with extra crackling was a ridiculous amount of food, enough for three people. The flavors and quality were delicious but the presentation was offputing on delivery as we new there was no way of getting through this pile. 7 roast potatoes !?Would love to return and try other dishes but will request smaller or sharing plates in future.

Disappointing menu, offering a couple of eclectical sounding starters lots of vegan choices but no desert to tempt a child to stay for a second course. Fish batter was thick but greasy. Flexibility over the menu was minimal. Seating plan was pre-covid close with 2m distance spanning 3 tables!

I’m not sure whether we just caught this place at a bad time, but we felt that it was understaffed, no one asked us whether we needed more drinks etc, how our food was, we even had to ask for some water. I wouldn’t rate the food, it was just full of salt. The table was done nice with balloons for an anniversary.It was a real shame as the pub/restaurant itself is very nicely done out. Properly staffed I’m sure it would of been a better meal but in all honesty we couldn’t wait to leave.

We had a really nice time here. The staff are great, really friendly and knowledgeable. I like that they have specials and dishes including local ingredients. I had a beetroot, ricotta and watercress salad starter and the kids menu chicken breast. Both were delicious.

Had my sons 18th birthday lunch here - they couldn’t have done more to make it special the table looked beautifully set with balloons - thank you so much it was a really special afternoon- fantastic food too. Friendly and efficient staff - Will definitely be back !!!

We had the most amazing lunch (again) today. Amazing atmosphere, great service and of course, the food was superb! I can especially recommend the Lambs Heart that was on the specials board. Cooked to perfection and delicious!

We went for a late lunch after a nice walk and we were not disappointed. The food, drinks and service were all first class. Starter of Kentucky fried pheasant was delicious and we both had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection! Would highly recommend this pub either for a few drinks or for a meal! We will definitely be returning!

My husband and I went for lunch at the Deer Hut for his 50th Birthday and we were not disappointed. We sat in front of a cosy log fire and enjoyed the most amazing food. The baked camembert was oozy and delicious and was accompanied by a huge selection of different breads. My husband had the fish and chips (I couldn't resist pinching a couple of the chips as they were just how I love them, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle), but my absolute favourite was the pork belly. The best I've ever tasted.The landlady came and talked with us after our meal and it was really interesting to hear about the history of the pub and their resilience getting through lockdown. We could have stayed there all afternoon. If we had been staying in the area longer, we would have gone back for another meal. How we wish we had this on our door step as a local. If you're in the area, it is most definitely worth a visit or two!

First time we have been to this pub at the third attempt. The pub looked lovely as we first saw it , in a beautiful setting and we weren’t disappointed once inside either. It’s very welcoming as we’re the staff.We had a table by the fire(nice to see a real one) and the atmosphere was really good/friendly.We didn’t have starters. I had pheasant for main and it was delicious and it was hot. Not a huge dish but very tasty and enough for me. The rest had fish and chips/ new potatoes and they all enjoyed their meals which were plentiful. We were stuffed but gave in and had desserts. Bread & butter pudding was very nice and Coffees were really good quality.Toilets very clean which is always a good indicator.Overall, very happy and we would definitely go back.We paid £136 in total for 4 of us inc 10% service which we thought was good value.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. One of the best if not the best in the area. Plenty of good quality meat, everything home made and excellent service. All at a very good price.

Such a warm welcome. We were greeted by smiling happy faces which was great. Service from Chantelle was excellent and the food was fantastic. The only downside was we live so far away we can’t go back each week! Such a hidden gem.

This is a lovely country pub! Friendly and helpful staff, attentive and kind. Nice atmosphere and tables not crammed in. Plenty of room in the garden awning areas too. Varied menu, the burgers were excellent, as was the lentil curry and baguette options. Decent drinks too. Ideal plan to walk a circuit of Weavers Down and then a trip here. Plenty of parking on and off site. 2 mins from A3 Griggs Green. 30 min walk cross country from Liphook Station.

I could write how excellent this was or that was, but it’s easier to say every part of our meal and the service and the surrounding were simply outstanding. Best meal we all have had in a very long time. Can’t wait to visit this establishment again …… simply outstanding.

We recently visited the Deers Hut on the 10th of December for a Christmas Lunch and had a fantastic day of it. The food and drink was excellent and only topped by the service of the team, which was very friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend for large groups or just a couple looking for a cosy pub evening.

Great food as always. The mulled wine great on a cold day. Turkey baguette very festive and I can't ever get enough of the fries! Finished with a liqueur coffee which had a lovely topping off cream. Service second to none and everyone very polite and attentive. Thanks again team!

Been to the Deers Hut several times, most recently with a crowd for our Xmas get together. The staff are always friendly and the food is fabulous. It's feels so nice and cosy even though it's quite a large pub - I'd recommend it any time. ( Nice garden outside too )

Arranged our work Xmas lunch after a recommendation from a business connection. The food was excellent as was the service and friendliness from all the staff. I would highly recommend this to anyone and we will certainly be booking this again for next year.

Soon as I walked into the pub I felt instantly judged and uncomfortable by all members of staff. I turned up to the pub after a long bike ride with some friends, and instantly after turning up got asked instantly in a sassy voice, “how can I help you”, then being told we can’t sit in certain areas of the pub, as we were ‘scruffy’. Next time I’ll make sure I pack my formal clothes for after a bike ride. Not returning again.

What an amazing Christmas Dinner. 18 of us had a great evening with brilliant food. Thanks so much to Jason and team for exquisite and friendly service. How the chef produces that great food for all of us at the same time - who knows. And always brilliant to see Debbie, looking after us. The best pub around for many, many miles ! We had a delicious Christmas meal at The Deer's Hut earlier this week. There were twenty seven in our party and we received a lovely welcome on our arrival. The pub has been beautifically decorated for Christmas and our long table looked very festive. The food service was excellent, with all the food being delivered to each member very quickly. The staff were cheerful and very helpful. Everyone enjoyed their meals and thought that the Christmas Menu was incredibly good value. We will definitely be back.

Came here for a late lunch after a meeting at the nearby Old Thorns Hotel. We had not booked but the greeter was friendly and able to find us a small table in a side area. I was blown away by the Christmas look and feel - they really have decorated it in a tasteful way whilst also going 'full christmas'.....i loved it.Our wait staff were friendly and polite, food was served punctually, the service was on point. Food wise - absolutely no complaints - I had the Brie and Bacon wholemeal baguette with fries and salad, and it was tasty, well cooked and the ideal size for a lunch. Easy to find and just off the A3 near Liphook, I would definitely come back here if in the area.

Well - what a lovely lunch-time we had at the Deers Hut to celebrate my husband’s birthday along with our friends. We opted for choices from their Christmas menu and thoroughly enjoyed them - thank you Chef! As always Jason and his team (special thanks to Chantelle) provided great service and attention to detail on a busy day. Can thoroughly recommend this lovely pub and restaurant.

This was our second visit for food.Unfortunately it was not as good as our first, which had been a very memorable and enjoyable experience. On this occasion I selected an item off the daily specials, pan fried pheasant. Somehow I had missed some small writing after the word pheasant. When it arrived there was a scoop of rice. My first mouthful was a really unpleasant sensation of extremely spicy curry. I asked the waiter if maybe he had given me the wrong plate. He examined the specials board and pointed to "with spicy sauce."That curry sauce accompanyment must have been mid way between vindaloo and a phal. It really spoiled the flavour of the pheasant which was lost.

Josh works his backside off. The place is lovely and the staff are great. But josh he’s another level!

Had a pretty poor time at old thorns so thought we would take a stroll down here and I’m so glad we did. Sat next to a roaring fire and the whole place was dimly lit with candles. The drinks were lovely and really friendly staff. Such a beautiful place wish we ate here as food looked beautiful. Highlight of our weekend. I recommend the rose ❤️

Amazing service and amazing food. Full of flavour and the perfect portion size. Staff were very polite. We got shown to our table and was shown a menu, ordered drinks straight away. 5 mins later we were asked if we were ready to order. Food was on out table within 20-30mins.

Myself and 3 friends met for supper for a birthday celebration. We had fantastic service and the food was really good. Attention to detail was noted and did not disappoint. Well done to all staff.

It was a pity none of the staff had removed the cushions in the outside seating, at night or when they closed. This resulted in an extremely wet pair of trousers , most embarrassing to say the least! We assumed just an oversight otherwise we enjoyed our visit

Jason and his staff made our memorial event for 45 friends and family a special one. We held it in the beautiful garden where there is a marquee and a separate bar. Our buffet menu was thoughtfully created by chef Mark, who catered for different diets. We were able to allow musician friends to play tributes and the atmosphere was very relaxed.From start to finish, the staff were helpful without being intrusive and we were able to celebrate my sisters lives the way they would have wanted.Thank you so much to all who made that possible.I thoroughly recommend The Deers Hut, Liphook. We visited for a celebratory family meal for our parents 60th anniversary. We had the marquee in the garden to ourselves and were able to decorate it with balloons, flowers and banners. The menu was varied, something for everyone, and the food was served promptly with nice portion sizes, roast sirloin of beef was great! We always receive a warm welcome from Jason and his team, they were friendly, helpful and professional. We had a great time and were pleased we chose to come here for our special celebration.

Nous étions 6 âgés de 7 à 63 ans. Nous avons tous trouvé la nourriture complètement délicieuse, raffinée et saine et très bien présentée. L’accueil était parfait ainsi que le cadre (intérieur et extérieur). Nous avons passé un super moment.

We ate at the Deers Hut four times during a recent stay at the nearby hotel. Great cheerful service from a large number of staff in what is obviously a very well run pub. Fillet steaks were absolutely gorgeous and the chips were fabulous. I’m gluten free and I was delighted to find a great choice of different puddings clearly labelled as gluten free - I normally have to resort to just ice cream, so this was a real treat. We will certainly be back for more when next in the area. A true gem.

Thirty five members of Surrey Mustang Owners Club visited The Deers Hut for lunch on Saturday 14th August. The team had set an area aside for our cars and space in the garden for our group. A bespoke menu had been prepared for us too. The staff dealt with our orders with ease and the food and drinks were served quickly and to a very high standard. Every one of our group commented on how well we had been looked after and we hope to return very soon. Thank you to owner Debbie and Jason who handled our group on the day and all the staff. Highly recommended.

The staff where very good and helpful. The food was hot and very tasty, the pub was very clean and busy staff still had time for their customers. I would highly recommend this pub.

We stayed at the Old Thorns and arranged to have dinner one night at the deers hut. It was the highlight of the weekend. Great atmosphere and decor. Food was delicious. Would most certainly visit again.

Lovely busy pub on a Thursday evening, with nice ambience. Excellent service by very efficient and courteous youngsters. Short menu but excellent specials and all really deleicous. Smoked trout starter, calves liver and brill mains and a totally scrummy baileys mouse and Choc grenache pud to share. Don't really agree with service charge added on but 10% was a fare tip for the experience, highly recommend.

We had a few hours chilling in the lovely back garden, and enjoyed some very nice food and drink. The service was also very good, really nice people to deal with and the surroundings are superb. Located in a nice location near the common which is great for walks. A very nice place.

I’m so impressed with this place! Beautiful setting (well worth booking in the garden if it’s a sunny day), fantastic food, and probably the best service I’ve had in years. Staff couldn’t have done more to give us an amazing time. Particularly impressive considering we arrived at midday and stayed for 6 hours! Both the landlady and staff member Josh went above and beyond. It’s so refreshing, post-covid, to go out for a meal and feel so well-looked after. My husband and I paid our first visit to the Deer Hut for lunch on Sunday, ambiance, surroundings and food were all really good but unfortunately after our initial arrival the service was very slow, we were given a table tucked away at the back of the pub and it just seemed we were forgotten about most of the time? My husband ordered a second glass of wine when our main courses arrived and we waited for ages for it to arrive - to no avail, the waiting staff (who were all pleasant and polite when we saw them) were nowhere to be seen and due to Covid we were not allowed to visit the bar to get our own drinks, eventually when someone came to take our plates away we were able to chase up the wine. Su he a shame but we will try again.

AMAZING, we turned up for a meal with the family for the first time this year owing to medical issues. We could not find fault there was even a classic car in the car park even though it wasnt classic car day, how you managed this to happen is cool. we have a mixture of roasts and a prawn thingy cant remember what mum ordered but she demolished it. COVID measures being followed couldnt ask for any clearer informaiton but was expressed in a nice polite way making me and my family feel our health was IMPORTANT to the staff at the pub.

Business dinner - starters and mains - all ok, but nothing to knock your socks off (other than the bill).In future, try to serve the pepper sauce with the steak rather than 10 minutes later please. I couldn't make a fuss as host as my new local director had made the booking, but we made several comments about the pepper sauce without jumping up and down, and no one picked up on the hint.Almost-fine dining bill for an average gastro pub experience.

Haven’t been here for a bit but popped in this afternoon and pleased to see that The Hut is still as wonderful as ever. Fabulous and varied menu, great service and as always lovely atmosphere. Also sensible yet discreet Covid safeguards in place.

Stopped here on way back from coast in good happy mood, my partner was spoken to rudely by female staff member. Lesson for you Deer Hut, yopu dop NOT "tell" customers to "put on your mask" when you have zero idea if they are legally obliged, secondly when a customer is starting to give an order for drink and food, butting in with "table number" is indicative of someone you need to fire. Perhaps you might consider re training your rude staff in the art of customer service.There is a lot more to this but the owners and Trip advisor clearly don't want ALL the facts!

Wow what a fabulous little place....wish we didn’t live 2 and a half hours away! We were staying at a hotel close by but saw this pub on the way there & we’re so glad we took a stroll down the road to try it!The staff are brilliant and attentive, the food was so lovely we ate there the day after too! A good selection of starters, mains and desserts and served fresh and hot! Can’t wait to go back when we’re next in the area!

On a lovely sunny day two of us had an excellent lunch in the pub garden. The Covid arrangements felt very secure & there was plenty of space between the tables. The haddock & chips was perhaps the best I have had anywhere: delicious light batter around the fish, great chips and proper mushy peas. We spoiled ourselves with a delicious dessert: pistachio and rhubarb custard tart with rhubarb sorbet. The food was fabulous, our dog was also made welcome, the service was efficient and friendly and the whole experience was an excellent break in our 10 mile walk.

The staff could not have been more caring when we showed up late in the evening, quite smelly and tired, they went out of their way to make sure we got seated, fed, watered and looked after. Absolutely brilliant service thank you

Very nice marquee and a warm welcome. Service and food were very good. Excellent venue for a family lunch.

Stopped off for a lunch with a work colleague who knew this establishment well, was not disappointed one bit, the service was excellent, our server was Kate, very polite young lady, food was top notch, rump steak sandwich and trout sandwich, menu looked delicious anyway, most of all as a member of CAMRA the beer was truly excellent, taste, smell and in 100% top notch condition, we had a few pints of Swift One, just amber nektar, Thank you to all the staff, great place you have here and spreading the word, will definitely be returning again.

Cycling the King Alfred’s Way with a group of friends. Stopped for dinner at the end of a long day. Staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Lovely food, great service. Would highly recommend. If I lived closer would be a regular.

This was a very rainy day just prior to the relaxation in regulations so we were outside, under canvas. But the rain stayed outside, heaters were on and most importantly the service and food were 1st class. The food came pretty quickly despite it being a busy Sunday lunchtime, our main corses - the pork wrapped in sorrento ham in special - were extremely good and my sticky toffee pudding was wonderful. This pub is going from strength to strength, highly recommended.

Just been to The Deers Hut for my wife’s birthday lunch. Every meal in every course was absolutely delicious. The service was awesome. A great time was had by all. Nice one team, keep up the good work! 👌🏽

Today my Partner and I who are new to the area enjoyed an absolutely outstanding meal. I cannot recommend highly enough food, service, gardens absolutely faultless a lovely afternoon spent here. We so enjoyed our meal I shall be going back again with my sister who lives an hour away for another excellent meal tomorrow.If you have not visited this establishment please do you will not be disappointed a hidden gemthat's for sure.

Food very good, especially the Rump of Lamb, staff brilliant. Atmosphere lacking but the way things are at the moment, that's only to be expected. Our 1st time out in a year, so things on the up..! Thank you to The Deer Hut.

Had an excellent lunch today 10 December. Cannot recommend this pub enough. Seated outside in accordance with COVID regulations. Seated area beautifully decorated, covered by gazebos and heated. Really well organised by manager and staff. Food as as always excellent as were the staff.

Met a couple of friends for a non-business lunch here yesterday and can honestly not recommend the experience high enough! Great set up with a 'grotto' feel to it - we sat in our own little tented section with comfy cushions surrounded by trellis with pretty Christmas decorations and lights and, bliss - heaters!! We had gone prepared with coats & hats and blankets for our knees - it was very cosy and comfortable! The staff were very attentive and kept coming and going with all our requirements! and there was a bell to press if we needed something... The food was very good - I had the Pheasant and Black Pudding Terrine and Roast Turkey with all the trimmings - delicious!! Have booked to go back again in a few days. Fantastic!!

The Deers hut has done a fabulous job at making the outdoor area safe and warm for a visit to their adapted COVID safe well ventilated space. The usual quality food with an additional scrumptious new menu. We will be back very soon. Great work.
