This was our 3rd mid week stay here and as always the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was lovely, best leek and potato soup I’ve had! It’s very trainable price compared to other hotels and restaurant costs (especially for the area it’s in). The restaurant building is lovely with all the old wooden beams showing.

Having said that my meal was not very warm the waiter took it away . Over 10 minutes passed. Eventually he returned with a new meal he THREW the plate on the table in front of . I was with a large party and the noise attracted quite a few people. Those in close proximity were astounded at his behaviour and have contributed details to this review.

We have just spent three nights at the Deanwater. Reviews were old and did not refect the service and comfort we found during our stay. The venue is perfect for a group or party night, the food, particularly the breakfast, was excellent and we couldn't fault the staff for efficiency and friendliness. We would definitely recommend a visit.

Cosy, comfortable place with wonderful welcoming staff. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and given a choice of where to sit, which was appreciated. The guy who took our order couldn't have been more helpful, dealing with our keto diet in a positive and helpful way. The food when it arrived was just delicious and there was plenty of it plus it was beautifully presented. We will return here for sure. Note - there's lots of parking too. Thanks

We had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Our travel plans had to be postponed a little out of respect for the Queen's funeral but the Hotel made all the necessary arrangements to accommodate the changes and we received a great welcome from all staff when we eventually got there. Thank you. As might be expected on the day following the Queen's funeral the restaurant was relatively quiet with no more than half a dozen covers to serve. This resulted in a relaxed dining experience with no rushing and time to chat with the staff. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive - just right, given the circumstances.

I haven’t eaten here before, although lived in the area over thirty years. A friend had been and talked very highly, so off I went. Not disappointed either, although areas are a bit tired, the staff are welcoming and very obliging. The menu is varied and caters for veggies and vegans. I had the camambert, fig and onion tart which was lovely, with home made chips (I think, I don’t often eat chips, but these seemed good) and a lovely mixed salad. My friend had the chicken pie, and she enjoyed it. We didn’t have a dessert so I’m sorry I cannot enlighten you, but maybe a good excuse to visit again and try them, so watch this space. Parking is very good, toilets are clean and service is excellent. A very nice lunch, give it a try

The hotel accommodation was very good if a little outdated. The grounds were very good. The staff were all very polite and helpful. My problem lay with the breakfast, my husband enjoyed a very good and well cooked Full English.I opted for a Continental for which I was offered only Toast, when I enquired if any fresh fruit was a available, I was offered an apple ! The following morning I asked if there was an alternative to toast and was given a croissant ,still in its packaging and cold ! Surely in these days a reasonable option could be offered to a full English breakfast

Just stayed at this lovely hotel for 3 nights. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome by every member of the friendly team of staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is really cosy and spotlessly clean in every area. Our room was lovely and spacious and the bed was really comfy with a TV and tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was beautifully cooked as was dinner which we had on 2 of our 3 evenings here. Food was delicious with generous portions and great service. The only slight improvement that could be made would be to our bathroom which was rather outdated and could do with redecoration. I noticed a few black spots starting to appear on the ceiling. The bathroom was spotlessly clean as was everything else but a bit of a refresh would be a good idea. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay a thoroughly enjoyable one.

Comparing my experience with other reviews I wonder what standards people have - how can anybody give this establishment any stars? The building is not only down at heel, it's falling to bits and dirty to boot. The barman was cheerful enough but service was absent - we had to pour our own drinks from the bottle. We chose food from dirty, greasy, ripped menus offering a very limited choice - whatever you have comes with chips! The table was sticky dirty and there were signs everywhere instructing patrons what they could and couldn't do. Fish, Chips and Peas arrived - fish portion looked quite reasonable but was 75% greasy batter!

We booked lunch in the restaurant at the Deanwater Hotel to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary having held our wedding reception there in 1989. We were really disappointed. I had the Braised Lamb Rump which was Ok but the meat was very dry. My wife had the Ploughman's Cheese Platter and was asked if she'd like a bread roll with it? Surely a Ploughman's comes with crusty bread or a roll. Again, it was OK but nothing out of this world. Also, despite discussing our special occasion we weren't made to feel special at all, just another customer. The manager did let us have a look round the Gold Suite and the grounds where we held our reception 30 years earlier which was nice.I'm afraid we won't be returning for a meal in the near future.

Prior to our visit I had read reviews on here and also looked at the photos. They really do not do it justice. Upon arrival we collected our room keys promptly from a very friendly member of staff. All information was given regarding breakfast times etc. The hotel itself is deceiving as there are far more rooms than it looks. Our room was a twin. The bathroom was between the front door and a heavy fire door separating this from the main sleeping quarters. This posed no problem as such but was slightly in the way and it was so heavy so not fluid, although it is a legal requirement so can't really complain. The room itself contained two single beds. They were neatly made but very narrow. TV, iron, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities provided. A good number of coat hangers also in the wardrobe. Booklet containing thorough and detailed information. We had a great night in the bar area on the Friday prior to a family wedding the following day. Staff fantastic and facilities very clean. I would certainly recommend and would return. Would love a swimming pool please.

Very disappointed. We booked this restaurant to celebrate, wish now we hadn't gone. There was 7 of us, the last to order wanted specifically no veg or salad, saw the water write this down and 2 people asked him again to make sure no veg or salad or relish. Everybody elses food came, but when the order with a, special request came it was like the request had been ignored. There was salad and vegetables on the meal. When it was pointed out that the order was wrong, they took the meal away and scraped the veg etc off and brought the food back. With all the food allergy scares in the news recently, you would think specific orders would be adhered to, and not just scraped off the plate. Admittedly that meal was not paid for, but the person whose order it was did not eat whilst everybody else did. Not a pleasant experience, would definitely not recommend. Basically below average pub food

I know now why they are so busy, the food is excellent, we all had different dishes, each one was delicious, I eat out quite a lot, I am often disappointed. They offer a good selection, prices much the same as any other establishment, they also offer small plates.Staff were friendly, not overly attentive, such as asking if everything was alright more than once. Will definitely be visiting again. There was just one downside, the plates they serve the food on were a little small for such a lot of food, which is unusual, it’s more often a case of large plates with a small amount of food.

My friend and I chose different dishes - strips of fillet steak in peppercorn sauce and for me pork loin steak in cider apple gravy, both equally good. I never thought I could say that a restaurant could be overly attentive, but we were asked so many times so quickly if we would like to order a drink that it became annoying. We were asked as soon as we were seated and we said could we have a few minutes to decide, we were given approximately a minute, but as we had just arrived we had not even picked up a menu. Again we asked for more time and had just started looking at the wine menu when our server returned. Not a good start.

We booked a table in the Tudor Bar for a family Saturday lunch - 6 adults and 4 children. It is relatively local for all of us and was chosen for the wide range of food on offer for adults and children, covering all tastes. Although we had been to previous functions at the Deanwater, it was our first meal in the Tudor Bar for a long time. It was a rainy day but we were made very welcome with a single long table in a separate part of the room, away from other guests, although it was not very busy at the time we arrived. The staff were attentive without being intrusive as we waited for everyone to arrive, and later throughout the meal. Drinks were brought promptly at the beginning and again later during the course of the meal. There were two belated birthdays and one qualification recently achieved to celebrate. The adults chose starters and main courses and the children were served at the same time as the starters, as requested, to avoid a long wait as they were hungry. Three of us had the whitebait, which was delicious, but lacked the usual addition of slices of brown bread. In retrospect, perhaps we should have requested this and I am sure it would have been provided. The Tempura prawns were apparently very tasty too. The mains selected comprised braised lamb shanks, turkey and salmon - all very nice and served with roast or mashed potatoes and a selection of fresh vegetables on the plate. The lamb shanks were huge, flavoursome and tender, satisfying even those with a large appetite. They were a bit lacking in gravy but this was provided very quickly on request. The children cleared their plates too. Three had the children's menu and the other chose a children's portion from the main menu. The children had brought a birthday cake which we were allowed to serve at the table, and the staff were kind enough to provide plates and a lighter for the candles. In summary, it was an excellent choice for the occasion - pleasant surroundings, good food, good choice of food, good service and good value for money. One suggestion for future improvement would be to perhaps offer set prices for 2 or 3 courses. We have every intention of returning.

We visited here for my in-laws Golden wedding reception. The room has been very newly decorated. It looked stunning. It definitely had the wow factor as you walked in. The meal was delicious and there was more than enough. My son who is a vegetarian loved his food too. The staff were very professional and friendly. Just a perfect venue for such a special occasion.

We booked the Deanwater for a 90th birthday party in August 2017 having had a previous party there which was excellent .From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome , being greeted by the staff ,the party manager could not have been more helpful , nothing was too much trouble for him , he genuinely wanted the party to be a success , which it was .The staff were friendly , efficient and attentive. The food was perfect and everybody said how wonderful it was . My wife and I are both vegetarian and the butternut squash roulade was delicious with lots of vegetables to go with it .The Tudor Suite was very pleasant and whole experience made for a perfect afternoon.

An amazing location. Beautiful building and great night sleep. Food is good but not amazing, beer and drinks again good but not the best and is quite pricey, also service is quite slow throughout. The main disappointment is the lack of information about the area and building. It's a very old building with lots of buildings added to it I'd like a leaflet of information on the hotel, buildings and area informing people of its past and how it became a hotel.

We always enjoy a visit to this restaurant. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the food is excellent. On this occasion I loved the Vegetarian Roulade. Something different and extremely tasty. My other half enjoyed the Lamb Shank and our teenage Granddaughter thought the Veggie Burger was delicious. Very good and reasonably priced wine and good coffee. Two of us shared a yummy Eton Mess for dessert.Lots of choice on the menu and some dishes are served in smaller portions for smaller appetites which is such a good idea. I can't fault the Deanwater but so many people forget hotel restaurants when eating out, often thinking they are just for residents. Not the case and I can highly recommend this restaurant. Good idea to reserve a table.

The so-called Caesar salad would have defied the Trades Descriptions Act! Limp assorted leaves, carrot, onion, tomato, cucumber? Come on! Where was the pancetta, croutons, Parmesan, Romaine lettuce? I suggested the chef should check his recipe books, and was given just a complimentary coffee. My husband's gammon was overcooked, as was the egg, which was hard. Would certainly not recommend.

From the very moment we walked in to 'The Balmoral Suite', we knew it was the place we had to marry; the staff were so friendly but not intrusive, welcoming and police. I really wanted to find an excuse to come & have a meal, it was my 30th in April, so there lay the perfect excuse. We all ordered a starter, boy they were ALL amazing; they tasted fresh and flavoursome. I had a steak with peppercorn sauce for my main and it was cooked to perfection, melting in the mouth style!I'm going to return in the next month or 2, for a catch up with the girls, which they're all so excited about. Bring on the wedding next year!!

Stayed here for 1 night only on business . A beautiful location , although had to go up quirky steps here and there , it added to its beauty . The bedroom was more like a little apartment , good solid doors between bathroom and bedroom , making feel more of a home . Very nicely decorated , immaculately clean and comfy bed . Only thing missing was a small fridge - but that wasnt a minus ! Had a wonderful evening meal in the small but cosy restaurant . Food menu was fabulous and took myself and colleagues a while to decide . Could not fault it ,, excellent staff and too beautiful food ( hence had to have pudding and another glass of vino !! Only downside - one night wasn't enough !!Would definitely return and recommend ,, also it would be a beautiful place to hold a celebration , including weddings ! Thank you for an enjoyable visit

Great hotel for Events and Weddings as the staff have serving large parties down to a tea.Rooms are pleasant but the showers need updating. The main bad point is the beds are terrible. Poor springs. I have spinal issues since fracturing my spine some time ago and ended up sleeping on the floor the bed was so bad.

Probus Group Bramhall meet every year for an annual lunch ,previously at the Hunting Lodge Adlington ,but they do not want Lunchtime Business any longer , but the Deanwater jumped at the chance and provided an excellent lunch for 86 people.Staff all well trained , Parking good for 50+ cars , Two very large rooms to sit and have a drink prior to dining ,together with an excellent Dining room . We were offered a very good choice of menu ,selected prior to the day and at a modest cost of £23-50 pp which included the tip

Had to wait 55 mins for ordered food with only a half hearted 'apology' when paying the bill. All four dishes were some way short of good cooking. My fried eggs were cold, chips were stale and tepid. My wife's battered fish was soggy and undercooked. The desserts were sort of OK, but not very nicely presented.Overall, it's a rather charitable average rating. Looking at other reviews, did we hit a bad day in the kitchen? With so many excellent pub/restaurants in the area, don't feel like risking another visit.

Visited last Friday for our works Christmas meal. This was my first visit and I have to say I was very impressed. The food was good and served hot on warmed plates. The serving staff were really efficient. This can be difficult to achieve when every table is sitting down to eat at the same time. The venue provided a decent sized dance floor for a bit of a bop after dinner. Would not hesitate to recommend the Deanwater as a venue.

Just returned home from a lovely lunch at The Deanwater. V pleasant staff, hot food and good service. After a disappointing meal at The Bridge in Prestbury last night, this lunch was nothing close to perfect! The Bridge could learn a fair bit from here!Large portions - some of the older ladies in my party found it slightly over facing. This is my only quibble.

This hotel was absolutely fantastic catering for our son's wedding reception/evening do in November. He was let down by another hotel about 4 weeks before his wedding day and approached the Deanwater for help. They were absolutely fantastic, helped so efficiently and sympathetically and delivered everything that the couple wanted. Food was excellent throughout the day, reception staff so very welcoming and informative and the rooms booked for an overnight stay were clean, warm and comfortable. The full English breakfast on offer the next morning was excellent, possibly breakfast experience could have been improved if the young staff on duty had explained options available and shown guests where to obtain extras - cereal, fruit juices etc, can only put this down to their young ages and lack of experience, maybe something for management to note about training, but apart from that the whole experience was brilliant. We can only thank everyone most profusely, and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.

We took our elderly mother for lunch here on her birthday, as we knew it was accessible and served the sort of food she likes. Service was excellent as usual, and the menu send to have a wider choice than last time we came. There was something for everyone, including one in our party who was lactose intolerant. They also serve smaller portions. A great success.

On a week of random travel we discovered the Deanwater Hotel and rated it highly. Our room next to the closed pool we found disappointing at first but it was so clean and they were generous with what they provided in the room more than made up for it. The food was superb and the staff very attentive and good at their jobs. Our plan had been to go out for dinner on the second night but we knew we would not be able to find anything better so we stayed in.

We attended a family wedding here over the weekend and we couldn't fault the service of the staff. We had a friendly greeting when we arrived and swiftly shown to our rooms. We had a few niggles in the rooms and housekeeping sorted it out straight away no matter that it was fairly late when we arrived. The staff in the breakfast room were very attentive and fast so we didn't have to wait too long. The only downside was the breakfast was very greasy so I didn't eat it all. Apart from that it was fine. The wedding was amazing and again all the staff were very efficient in sorting things out seamlessly so that the wedding breakfast things were quickly cleared away making room for the disco without much disruption. There was plenty of space outside on a covered terrace where people could sit out together with a lawn where children could run around.Overall, a great venue with nice clean bedrooms and bathrooms; we would stay again. A really lovely weekend away spent with family.

Three of us met up here for lunch on my recommendation and they weren't disappointed. The service is friendly with a warm welcome and the food is extremely good. My other half opted for the Roast of the Day which has a plentiful supply ot turkey, roast potatoes and vegetables and was delicious. The other diner had Gammon and Pineapple and thought it excellent. My Cheese and Onion Pasty contained good strong cheese and I requested mixed vegetables as opposed to the chunky chips and this was no problem. Tasty.Although the dessert menu was tempting, we were just too full so ordered coffee which was very good. We then went into the lounge bar for another drink. Helpfully, a number of the main courses are done in smaller portions which is such a good idea. The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful and the gardens are extremely well looked after. Lots of car parking to the rear and easy to get to from Wilmslow, Macclesfield and surrounding areas. Highly recommended.

Food has got expensive, on the website states paninis £7.75, when the actual price in the cafe is over £10. We had 2 paninis and a pot of tea, the bill came to over £27. We use the cafe on a regular basis, but will be giving it a miss from now.

The most appalling 'meal' and service that I have ever been subjected to. We ordered steak and ale pie and this was brought out to us and placed on our table and described as a pie. However, there was absolutely no pastry, just a bit of gravy in a dish. When I called the waiter back he said 'to be honest, we've ran out of pastry' - are these people for real? To add insult to injury, the manager actually tried to charge us for the pies we never received!!!! Shambolic and not for the first time, but definitely for the last. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY!!!!

This place has a vast amount of things for children to play on. However don’t expect to get food quick- they have two cage areas but one is never open and the other has a constant huge queue because the staff take forever! Even if you want drinks you have to queue with the food and last time we queued for 25 minutes! Ridiculous when you have children to supervise and feee!
