Great place for a refreshing pint after a wander around newmiller dam

Always our first choice of a weekly stop for lunch and a drink after a walk. Very friendly and welcoming staff. A very good drink selection and amount of choice on the menu. The food is always super tasty and good value for money. Service is always very efficient and friendly too. We sometimes call in on an evening too for a drink and there is always a great atmosphere. Thank you to all the staff.

Had a carvery today all the food was dry been there too long the food needed replacing and fresh bringing out Yorkshire puddings awful I'm not being nasty I'm saying worth I thought off my £14.50 yes £14.50 food what a waste of money

A beautiful day out with family to Newmiller Dam and afterwards we went to The Dam for lunch. This did not disappoint. They had an extensive menu, very clean restaurant and helpful, polite staff who went above and beyond! Highly recommended

Went for a quick stop off drink and snack on mother's day just as the pub opened it was exceedingly busy and very expensive The beer wasn't brilliant the chips were lovely but took ages to come For 3 halves of beer and 1 half of cola plus 4 portions of chips ( the pot they came in was tiny) it was nearly £30 We weren't made to feel welcome either

Menu’s were dirty or folded, looks like they haven’t been replaced in a while. 30 minute wait for a small “sharing” bowl of nachos. Every table had dirty plates or empty glasses on. Server didn’t collect any old plates from our tables when the nacho’s did arrive. Toilets were messy, toilet paper on the floor, mould at the edges of sinks and only one sink was usable.

The sight of empty plates and glasses on almost every table is not the vibe we wanted after a nice sunny walk. We waited way too long for a small “sharer” plate of nachos while an empty table full of plates and cutlery was completely ignored during our entire visit. I’m not sure how strong the management team is here but it’s quite clear that the staff are very lazy and lack any passion, so it speaks volumes. Both male and female toilets weren’t great, sinks covered in mould and toilet paper all over the floor. As a member of the hospitality community myself, it is such a shame to see somewhere so perfectly placed be let down and waste it’s potential.

Food well below expectations. Had a table booked. We arrived , no acknowledgement from the bar staff (as in we'll be with you in a minute). Anyhow taken to table where we ordered our food. Only 3 others in the restaurant. We commented to each other how quick the food arrived after ordering. Same happened to our food. It arrived so quick for freshly prepared and cooked food. The wife's Hunters Chicken had hot sauce the chicken part hot part warm. Microwaved we surmised. Fries, some hot, some cold, some warm. Food served then no waiting staff. We had no sauces, no mayo....after been on the go since 9.30am we decided 10hrs later to make the best of it. We shared a sweet again we imagined microwaved. We then had to find the waiting staff to pay. We said the food was okay and explained about our thoughts on the Hunters Chicken being just acceptable, close to us sending the food back. My wife having taught food hygiene which we told them. Anyway we were presented with the full bill which we paid and left. We both woke during the ni ght so thirsty we had to get up for a glass of water. As we had to upon getting up. Today (the day after) I'm feeling bloated and uncomfortable. I will add we have eaten there before years ago and though it was great. So many issues this time though I would suggest looking at training again. I used to work in a kitchen many years ago. I would never send a meal back to be re warmed etc and re served. I would reject the whole table and leave.

Dog friendly. Cannot book with dog, but there were tables available on the Sunday evening we attended. Good choice of main courses and they were very nice. Reasonable priced puddings. Not everything available when we were there.

Food was absolutely delicious and plentiful. Our party had fish and chips and lasagna. We then had sticky toffee pudding and everything was amazing. We have come here several times and never had a bad experience or bad food. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today, thank you so much

First Time here as we just moved in the area and wanted to eat something as was our anniversary. The food and the prices was good. As we both worked in hospitality ( Sous chef and waitress) we really enjoyed being served by Michelle tonight. I know how important are the Trip Advisor reviews.

Went for a family meal, which was lovely, and the staff were really friendly. However, when leaving went to use the bathroom, I couldn't believe the state of them, they looked like they hadn't been cleaned for weeks, thick of dirt on the floor and parts of the wall, the toilets, sinks and mirrors were disgusting. If I had seen this prior to ordering, there is no way I would of eaten there.

Food was nice, apart from one of the desserts which wasn’t cooked properly. The toilets were absolutely filthy and clearly not been cleaned in months, if not more. Passed this onto the manager who said they would deal with it right away. Would not have eaten there if I had seen the toilets before.

Our first visit here. Had lunch today. Food really delicious! Very friendly helpful staff! Nice atmosphere! We Will be back! 😉

After a walk round the dam it was a really great place for a drink and food. Really enjoyed our time there and after leaving a piece of jewellery there, Josh, the manager, went out of his way to reunite us with it.

Called in for lunch ,not been here for a couple of years. Food and service good. Toilets needed attention. 3 ladies toilets of which one was out of order and one had no lock or fastener ,leaving just one toilet available. The taps just trickled water,however hand soap was available and hand dryer worked ok.

Lovely friendly pub. Anyone thinking of going to a psychic night stay away. The company that run these evening. Are uncaring rude and not professional. The readers were really good it's a shame about the company psychic uk. Whis I could put the e mail on here for you to read disgusting.

Shocking you don't expect a one person meal for a sharing platter @ 22quid completely tasteless 2 X chicken wings, 2/3 quarter of cob of corn (can you believe it?) few chips and a bowl of over microwaved nachos (need new dental visit) go at your own peril

Had lunch here it was ok but all food is frozen.paid 14pound for 10 frozen chips some garden peas and frizen watery fish.prices should be lower for frozen food.staff nice and friendly just food neefs to be better for those prices

I ordered a cappuccino and sent it back because it was cool. The waiter brought me another and it wasn't much hotter. The hot drinks were poor tbh and the price should reflect that they are not competing with a proper coffee shop. The food was average, arrived on the table cool and my son only got one slightly burnt sausage with his kids meal. We were waiting around 45 minutes even though It didn't look overly busy and then they sneaked a 10% service charge on the final bill...I wouldnt have minded if the service had been top notch but it wasn't. The service charge has to go!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the inn, as a solo traveller I felt very welcomed by the friendly staff, and the pub is at a lovely location with good walks alongside the dam. The food and drink I had here was delicious, overall was a perfect pub.

I found this establishment very welcoming, the staff were friendly, the food was extremely nice we were seated in a lovely cosy area by the fireplace and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the pub and how inviting the staff were on arrival and throughout our visit, will definitely return and recommend to our friends.

We visit every December as a family it’s becoming a Christmas tradition the Carvery is spot on and the staff are great. Takes us about an hour to get here but it’s a great Middle point to meet up so glad to see pigs in blankets are back on the menu. See you next year!

Very poor service, just ignored, food was dry or undercooked, I have never had as bad service. Very poor and when leaving wasn't even asked about the visit.

Our experience at the dam inn- We had a fantastic experience, lots of seating to choose from and they were so accommodating and the food was was amazing, we will definitely be returning in the near year! Thank you to the staff at at the dam inn! Fantastic pub!

Came here with some friends and had a fab time. Great pints, great food and the staff were lovely. Will 100% be back for more!!

Went to chat up with my farther and we decided to eat whilst we were there. Big mistake as the food was well over a hour to come out, and the portions were the size of a child's meal and poor quality and the meals were cold. I sent mine back as it was clock cold. The meal was returned to me and was the same meal only that it had been thrown in a microwave. I asked the member of staff if it had been in the microwave and his response was, " I've no idea I just gave it to the kitchen ". The food was not worth the money and how some can even mess up sausage and mash ( instant mash may I add ) really shouldn't be working in a kitchen. Safe to say we won't be returning.

Good local pubs do still exist !. Been coming here for a few years and always a great welcome and atmosphere whoever is working. Have eaten in the bar area and restaurant and always a tasty meal so well done to everyone in the team and looking forward to more visits in 2025 !

Meal itself was nice but when it came to paying we were overcharged! Not sure if they stuck a service charge on which I believe should be asked instead of forced. Probably won't go back because of this, find it quite cheeky but didn't want any aggrevation!

We visited for a carvery, ordered a table but arrived early to find parking as it's dire. Whilst waiting for my friend to arrive after parking, I stood by the bar. The filth on the floor behind the bar was disgusting. A couple came in with a very wet dog, shaking itself, and barking which continued for the NEXT HOUR. Dogs in a restaurant??? We were put on the tiled floor area very near the counter for the carvery. There was an exceptionally strong smell of fish! Our waiter continually thought I was a man, calling us "guys" it was embarrassing. The Christmas lights next to our table were lovely until they started flashing. Are you not aware of epilepsy and flashing lights? Our carvery food was poor. I had a huge lump of gristle in my gammon. The roasted potatoes were unseasoned and soft because they were cold. Boring choice of veg, the cauliflower cheese had no sauce on it! The stuffing was bland, and the carrots not cooked enough, all cold. However, the icing on the cake was the disgusting ladies toilets. Rust, mould, rotten wood, filthy floors....... On paying, we found the service charge was already added. I asked for it taken off, as we prefer to choose and we're not sure the service charge is actually passed on. The final insult was on the receipt - "NO TIP LEFT" in fact we did tip, how bad is that? The Dam food has seriously gone down the pan recently. I doubt we will be back.

It is OK it is difficult to keep the carvery fresh. I do not like the idea of paying for parking on a pub car park

A fabulous place, staff were really friendly and there was a good atmosphere. We had the plant based P&J burger which was amazing, I have to say it was the best burger I have had. I would highly recommend this pub, it’s just a shame I am not local as I’d love to visit The Dam Inn more often.

We come every Saturday, the live music and the cask ale is amazing, all local and the open fire is always lit and welcoming. Josh and the team are doing a great job. Always welcoming and happy.

We were only calling in to use the loo but decided to try the carvery. The food was delicious. Three choices of meat massive Yorkshire puddings and the veg and mash were cooked to perfection. Three choices of gravy. It was superb. Had a walk round the dam afterwards.

A perfect location especially on a sunny day. Great atmosphere with helpful staff and the good food is reasonably priced.

Visited for the first time this weekend, cracking selection of lagers and spirits, loved my mojito made to perfection, sat in the bar and got talking to a couple who were also here for the first time and we all were saying that it was just the most genuine warm welcome and service that made the experience. Will definitely be returning, have heard brilliant things about the two and three course menu, cant wait to come back. 😀

The food was delicious.not alot of parking outside some disabled bays. Music was playing inside and chairs were comfy and they didn't have fish and chips or hunters chicken. Staff were really kind. And that's it

Really like the fact that the carvery gives two options for a vegetarian carvery. Not many do this . I chose to just have a meat free carvery as I didn’t really liked the nutless roast or the beetroot wellington. Happy at the price as that was my chose to not eat meat.

Place was really quiet and calm on my visit which is preferable for my autistic brain. Nice food, although a bit expensive

The Dam Inn, Location, Location, Location! After a refreshing walk around Newmillerdam under the rare but glorious sunshine, my friend and I decided to pop into The Dam Inn for a bite to eat. Having not visited in a few years due to moving away, I was pleasantly surprised by what awaited us. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm ambiance instantly felt welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive, setting the tone for a lovely dining experience. Though we only had time for a quick snack, but the food far exceeded our expectations in both flavour and value. We ordered the Halloumi fries and the Sharing Nachos with Beef, both of which were nothing short of a taste sensation! The Halloumi fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and wonderfully chewy on the inside, while the nachos were loaded with flavour and generously topped. It’s not often that you find such fantastic food at such reasonable prices, making our meal all the more enjoyable. The Dam Inn’s location is another highlight — nestled in a scenic area, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a walk around Newmillerdam. The combination of great food, value for money, and excellent service truly made for a memorable afternoon. I can't wait to return for a more substantial dinner soon. If you're looking for a place that ticks all the boxes, location, delicious food, and incredible staff The Dam Inn should be at the top of your list to visit.

Not very good at all… sat at least 1/2 hour waiting for a steak sandwich…not even that busy, sandwich arrived, not even a offer of condiments… had fetch own knife’s and fork serviette etc ourselves Service not good at all 😡
