The Crown of Cookham in Windsor and Maidenhead

A very nice Pub with good food from an excellent chef. Accommodation for an overnight stay was, however, disappointing and unpleasant. The annexe room was clean and very modern but obviously hadn't been heated for quite some time. Not entirely sure why you'd expect guests to stay in a room like an ice-well, with a piercingly cold bed and freezing bathroom. So it was uninviting and uncomfortable. The sole heat sources were a small, inadequate, fiddly-to-work electric wall heater and a small towel rail in the very draughty bathroom, both of which took many hours to warm the rooms to a comfortable temperature. Operating instructions for the wall heater would help. I spoke to a staff member about the heat problem more than once but no apology was made in my hearing. When I asked for help with the heating for the third time, the team member became obviously annoyed. A return stay is very unlikely unless it's in the summer months. Would recommend the food but not the rooms.

It's a really nice pub. Service is very good and friendly, the space is welcoming and the portions are large (though prices are also not cheap). Overall a nice afternoon experience. I'd recommend.

If you want to enjoy an English Pub with fabulous food, look no further than The Crown !. The whole team are friendly/attentive and it feels very much like a big welcoming family. There are many other pubs in the area, but this one ticks all the boxes and welcomes dogs, which can be important, if you have a dog !

Lovely warm friendly welcoming pub in the heart of Cookham, very close to the Thames so easy to go for a walk and finish here for a drink or food. Parking is possible nearby national trust car park.

The service was fabulous, Great wine choice. There were four of us and all chose to have the roast dinners so ordered two sharing roasts so we could have a mixture of beef, Pork and Chicken. Wow, this has to be one of the best roasts i have had in a very long time. The meat was cooked to perfection. The vegetables had a lovely crunch, not soggy. The gravy was so tasty. Well done to the crew at the Crown. We will be back

I’m a little surprised there aren’t many reviews already! This place is great! The service we received was A Class!! Really attentive and so helpful with dietary requirements and just a generally nice atmosphere with pleasant staff and great food!!

A pub with no real ale on a day of a village fair

We stayed 6th dec. Cookham and surroundings are beautiful. For the price the crown was fine. Rooms are small, but in good order - perfectly fine if you are not going to spend much time in them. We didn't eat dinner there, but we had breakfast which was good (and included in the price). However beware if too many people shower or take a bath at a similar time, cos the old hot water tank just runs out.and the staff were not especially bothered or apologetic about that!

I've never been to as accommodating a B&B as here. The breakast is one of the best I've ever eaten at a hotel/B&B, the staff (special shout out to Kelsey who was super friendly) were lovely and accommodating even when I arrived 1 hour after closing time, and the room is excellent and amazing value for money. I will without doubt be staying here every time I am near London for business!

Popped in for a quick drink & found a very quaint pub, with a nice fire, though the guy (cute 😁) had a problem with it. The 2 young staff (Dan & Megan) were very friendly & knowledgeable. We even had a cheeseboard (to share) & was amazed.

We were in Cookham with the family and needed lunch. We stopped at the Crown. One of the best pub punches we have had in a long time. Couldn't fault anything - food and service were top class! Will definitely be back. Great service too. Really engaging waiter.

My cousin and I stopped by one afternoon for a drink and some lunch and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the staff very welcoming, helpful and friendly especially Danyel (sorry if that’s spelt incorrectly but knew it had a y) who was particularly helpful and made us both giggle. We didn’t stay so cannot rate the rooms but the rest was truly amazing. Will certainly be returning.

Had an excellent long weekend stay here at the Crown! Located in the heart of Cookham with excellent services from Tom & the team from start to finish! Highly recommend!

Stayed here during the Cliveden Literary Festival. My room was modern, clean and comfortable. The staff were very attentive and lovely. High recommend.

Had a breakfast there this week,food was OK,portions on the small side,prices are shocking got charge £19.90 for a smallish breakfast,a weak cup of tea,charged £4.95 for a cup of tea.

Nice pub in the centre of Cookham

We are staying in Cookham for a family event and my wife and I wandered here from the accommodation. Bar staff were happy and friendly, beer was a mix of local and big name, I drank local and it was well kept. My wife drank wine and reported it was "good for pub wine 👍". We decided to eat there. We only had one dish each. Both were excellent quality, and I mean excellent - this was not pub grub.

Accommodation is in a brick built construction in the grounds of the pub (was obviously a barn at some time in the past). Room was clean, modern and had its own en-suite, ours had a bath with an overhead shower, there was a new fitted carpet, tea making facilities, a fan and a hairdryer also supplied. The included breakfast was very good. Staff very polite and helpful. On the right there is a footpath down to the riverside, takes just a few minutes, we turned right again and walked along to another pub called The Ferry Inn, we had a pizza there, was superb, a very busy place on the Sunday we were there.

Very friendly and happy service. Would definitely come back to eat.

Excellent lunch today at the Crown. Beautifully presented and large portions (they will happily provide a doggy bag/box if required). I enjoyed a monster beef and Guinness pie, whilst my friend chose the very ample serving of liver and bacon. My pie came with a lovely selection of green vegetables, fresh peas, mange tout and green beans. The liver came with lovely crispy bacon and a good dose of fried (I think) sage. All washed down with a pint of diet coke and a 200ml mini bottle of prosecco. Excellent service and a very reasonable bill of around £55 including service.

First visit passing through. Staff and food excellent. Lamb rump for him and sweet potato and spinach curry for me...very good, tasty and well presented. Our table looked onto the kitchen which was fascinating and showed how great the staff in there are as well. Highly recommend

6 of us had food here this evening and everything we had was delicious. Pretty reasonable as well. Would go again.

Excellent (& popular pub). Ideal if you've just come from a walk & want to treat yourself with a cold, crisp pint. Very family and dog friendly, with loads of seating area outside. Despite being near a road, it's very chill & quiet. Glassware & drinks available all pretty good. Definitely worth a stop.

Had a meal here recently, with friends, have to say we had a great evening, the food was great, the service was with a smile, all at reasonable prices, no pressure to leave once we'd finished. Great selection of wines and desserts. Highly recommend, a real jewel in the Crown of Cookham.....

This pub's restaurant is excellent. We visited for the first time this last Sunday 12th for late lunch. We ordered the sharing Sunday roast (beef and chicken), with all the trimmings, was presented in super-sized Yorkshire pudding. Presentation, on arriving at the table, was impressive; everything was super tasty; the gravy, in individual sauce boats, was just what you wanted. Plenty of it, and full of flavour. We save other meals (fish & chips, burgers etc) going to other tables and it all looked excellent. These weren't cooks, in the kitchen, these were Chefs. I highly recommend you put this spot on your list of places to stop and eat, after a lovely walk along the river. Like us, you won't be disappointed

6pm on a Saturday in April. Quite good but just not quite first class. Food was good but I should have taken it a bit slower. It gets busy.
